This is my 5th Row House that I have been to and I have nearly 2 million meters rowed so I have experienced different classes and coaches throughout the years. I have been trying to hang out with a friend who lives in Littleton to go to another row class since he loved his first class at the Highlands Ranch location.

We decided to go to Ken Caryl since there was a restore class vs an intervals class at HR.

Upon arriving, we told the coach that I usually row at Smoky Hill l, but this was my friend's 2nd row class and it had been over 2+ years between his classes. While the coach acknowledged what we said, the coach never checked in with my friend on setting up or if he was comfortable with rowing actions (ie: body position at catch and finish). I ended up having to help my friend get set up on the rower, mind you, there were only 6 other members in class besides us and my friend was the ONLY new member.

When it's a restore class, we are told to put the monitors down and row to how we feel. However, if this is the case and we're not supposed to focus on numbers, why were the class stats put on the front monitors? The cues for timing from finish to catch were completely missing to keep us on pace but the coach just kept spouting out to keep at a certain stroke per minute. It just seemed disjointed and lacking as compared to other row classes at other locations I have taken.

At the end of day, my friend and I won't return to this location.

I have been coming to RH 3-4 times a week for almost two years and have really enjoyed it! The instructors each have their own style and music, the fellow rowers are all very welcoming and it’s a great workout for every fitness level.

Boring! NOT! I’ve found the classes to be much more interesting and fun than I thought they could ever be. Community is inclusive, energizing and fun! Especially like our Saturday morning Coach Ryan! He rocks the classic hits and makes sweating a blast! I’m probably older than most of you but the young ones are getting close to catching up with me. I try to go easy on them though.

This place is great! The community is so nice, the coaches are great and the music is awesome. It is obvious to me how out of shape I am, but I can work at my own pace. This is a great place to improve my health and have fun doing it :).

BLUF: Make sure you. 1. Read the contract fully (don't take what they tell you to be true.) 2. Don't get sick. 3. Don't have life come up.

The Good:
Joined Row House at Ken Caryl in October. It is a great little community and good instructors. As I got more into it I saw good progress and the work outs were fun.

The Bad:
1. The classes are limited, which you can get a feel for initially. It is frustrating though, when you want to do a little rowing for say 20 minutes but, the facility is closed (they do offer open row times.)
a. This gets especially tough when you find instructors you may favor more than others

2. With limited classes and seats, the classes fill up quickly. So you'll want to book weeks in advance--not a problem just a reality. Now if you wake up sick and don't want to spread your illness to the class goers you get to eat a $10 dollar cancellation fee. This was frustrating between my wife maybe needing me to stay home or my son being sick or myself being sick.

3. When your sick you're still paying the same amount.

4. The end of the classes the instructors are told to really pitch recruiting people and their store. I mean I get it's a business but, I'd rather not have a commercial at the end of my work out haha.

5. When I signed up for the unlimited plan I was under the impression you can cancel at anytime. Maybe that was on me, but no if you cancel early it's a $300 dollar fee and you need to cancel 30 days prior to the monthly charge otherwise you're going to be saddled with that month as well. I know it's a gym tactic but, didn't think of the row house in that way.

Regardless, I'm done I am moving. I recommend go to a normal gym and get a feel for the concept2 rower. They go for 800 to 900 used on facebook market place. If you realize it's not for you at that point you can sell the concept2 rower as it's a sturdy machine, if it's not damaged and you did no maintenance you could probably sell in for 600 dollars in about 5 minutes. That's what I'm doing. Save yourself the magical fees that will inevitably arise if you sign a contract with Row House.

Update:
The owner of the company, responded with what appears to be very subjective personal comments. Take what I hope to be objective comments for what they're worth.

The comment about my review history, I encourage you to see my reviews. In all honesty, it takes a lot for me to be compelled to formulate an opinion and post about a business. More often then not I like leaving positive comments. If I am compelled for negative I attempt to explain in depth the reason for the rating.

I don't know if it was the comment or just a more formalization of the sick policy but, it appears the owner has designed sick days so you aren't penalized.

My experience at the Row House in Ken Caryl has been exceptional. I started about 6 months ago. I have been going through some major life changes and it has been a place where I can go and just be there for me. It's like spin class, but rowing machines, so the lights are down and the music is up. I can just clear my head and leave it all there. The instructors and the owners have been amazing. As I mentioned, I've been going through quite a bit and they have been super supportive. I go to the evening classes, since I have a daytime job, and I moved to a different part of the city. Even though there is a club closer to where I live, I still fight the rush hour traffic everyday to go to that location. That is how much I enjoy it. A bonus, I have lost 40 pounds!

I signed up for Row House Ken Caryl before they had even completed building out the studio! It was one of the best decisions I've made to improve my health and wellness. Everyone there from the staff, to the coaches, and fellow "crew" are supportive, friendly, and amazing! I love going to class multiple times a week and am constantly breaking my own records and going further than I thought possible. I HIGHLY recommend joining this studio - you won't regret it!

This studio is the most inviting and inclusive fitness environment I have ever been to. The coaches, staff, and owners are just fantastic and so supportive right from the beginning. I also can't say enough about all of my classmates (BOAT and CREW), the support during, and after every class and when anybody hits a milestone has been over the top. I can't begin to recommend this studio and this workout enough. It is just such a great time and workout environment, truly unique.

I am one of the coaches at Rowhouse Ken, Caryl. And maybe you might think I’m biased because I work here. However, I assure you I’m not.

There are multiple places where I can go Coach at. The reason why I stay here and have for the past few years is because the community and the family type environment that the owners, staff, and members portray. Obviously for the work out as well. Over the years I’ve developed bad knees and rowing doesn’t affect them at all. The classes are fantastic and you have some of the best coaches around teaching them.

From the owners, staff, and members. You honestly won’t find a better place to coach and everybody is so encouraging and uplifting. I have made a lot of friends along the way which I am grateful for and wouldn’t have found anywhere else.

People genuinely care about you and care about your goals. I am very proud to say that I am a coach at Rowhouse Ken, Caryl!

I have joined several different types of gyms over the years and this is one of my favorite to be a part of! I've been a member for 6 months at the Ken Caryl location now and cannot get enough of the classes. They have different types that are either anaerobic or aerobic, so you never get bored! Not to mention the music and themes are one of the best parts of why I keep going back. The staff and trainers are all extremely friendly and make you feel part of a team. Highly recommend trying them out, it'll be your new addiction! One boat, One crew!!

I would be very wary to attend classes at Row House. I purchased punch cards for my husband and daughter to complete classes at Christmas in 2019. Unfortunately they had an expiration date and the manager was not willing to work with us to use the class vouchers. I have never experienced such a rigid system. My husband is a front line worker and daughter active military which made it difficult to complete the classes in the allotted time. Terrible customer service and now we are out a significant amount of money.

I have been to a lot of fitness studios across the US and Row House Ken Caryl is top notch. I came in for my first free class with no prior row experience. From walking in to the host greeting me with my name, the instructor carefully showing me the basics, and the class cheering me on, I felt extremely welcomed and empowered. I ended up buying a pack of 12 classes and reached personal goals for myself along the way with the help of the fabulous instructors. If you are looking for a judge-free zone with genuinely nice people around you helping you get an amazing workout, check out Row House KC!

I've been a member of RHKC for about 6 months now and can't say enough great things about it. The instructors push me to do my best each and every class. There is a wide variety of classes so I never get bored and the reservation system holds me accountable to actually show up (which has been my biggest problem with gyms in the past!). The owners care about the members and make everyone feel welcome. Overall, it's a great full body workout in a very positive environment.

The community is amazing and supportive and a lot of fun. It’s a group workout and an individual workout at the same time. Row House Ken Caryl delivers a fantastic workout, community, and customer experience. The staff are knowledgable and welcoming. I especially appreciate Samantha's energy and dedication to helping members develop good form to optimize each workout and I equally value Alicia's attentiveness to members both in the workout space and out. The workout is a great experience to work muscles I did not even realize existed and class options allow for variable emphasis on cardio and strength training. The community is friendly and welcoming, and members are able to participate as much or as little as they wish. Prices are steep, but staff is willing to work with you as much as possible. All in all, a stellar way to spend 45 minutes. Thank you Row House!

The welcome was excellent. A machine was already set out for me in the mid-back of the crew. It meant I was in a place I could watch both the instructor Alicia as well as the other members of the crew. Alicias playlist is, I have found out, the secret to the session.
The class was a ‘Signature’ which included some time off the machine stretching and some yoga positions.
The 45 minutes went quickly.
My back has not felt this good in years.

Row House Ken Caryl is awesome and I highly recommend trying out a class to anyone who is interested. I normally am NOT a fan of group workouts/classes and prefer to train myself, but I gave Row House a try after a good friend recommended it. I am so glad I did because I love going and now go every week! The workouts are fun and challenging and are a perfect blend of cardio/endurance and strength training. You truly get a full-body workout and I feel like, for the amount of time you put in, you get a great workout! The environment is really cool (they have cool lighting and awesome music) and the coaches are super knowledgeable and helpful and work really hard to prepare for the classes and it shows! (Alicia is awesome- so positive and motivating!) I love the community here too- everyone is super supportive of one another and it feels very close knit! I also appreciate how clean and modern everything is here and I definitely feel safe coming here during COVID (which is saying a lot for me!). Definitely give it a try if your interested, you’ll almost certainly be hooked!
