I have been a client of Sophia for over 2 years. She is the best neuromuscular therapist I have ever been to. Sophie is knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful with all things related to injury, and injury prevention and recovery. I love seeing Sophia. She is kind and intuitive. I've felt a difference in my stress level and felt clearer in my sinuses/ears (the reason I started seeing her) in two months than I've had in several years.
My 13 year old and I have also seen Milo. He was wonderful with her! I really appreciated the way he took time to listen to her and then connect her interest in sports to the exercises.

Sophia has been working on my shoulder and lower back injuries through deep tissue massage and cupping. I am so pleased with the work she has done as my mobility has increased and pain level decreased. I highly recommend Sophia for deep tissue and therapeutic massage.

I did an initial consultation followed by 8 sessions w/ Milo for hip & lower back pain. Milo is incredibly knowledgeable -- it was impressive how he was able to identify dysfunctional movement patterns in my hips based on my symptoms, a short discussion, and observation of my movement. He then did a great job coming up with a long-term plan to help build healthy movement patterns to improve my performance. Milo also did an outstanding job explaining everything and tailoring cues that I could understand as we worked through some fairly complex drills. I would strongly recommend Milo to individuals who are looking to improve their movement patterns/performance long-term.

I searched for a trainer that uses Functional Patterns in my area after going to an FP practitioner in Austin and loving it. Milo is very knowledgeable and with his help I've been able to manage and heal a lot of the pain I experience in my hips and back following a bad ankle break a few years ago. I go rather infrequently due to the amount I travel for work. I'm able to use these techniques to manage my pain and I can see all the benefits in repairing and balancing different muscles, my overall form, and technique. I LOVE the times when I see Milo and I'm so grateful I found him!

I had a very positive experience working with Milo and highly recommend Sapien Fitness to almost anyone.
I’m a relatively active person in my late 40s who occasionally had lower back issues, morning aches getting out of bed, and difficulty recovering from physical weekend work. I could function with these inconveniences, but had concerns that as I got older they would get worse.
Milo immediately recognized my hips weren’t moving optimally. This was likely due to minor past injuries that caused my body to get out-of-balance. Some of my muscles were overcompensating for others that were underutilized. Over the course of 6-7 sessions and 5-6 months we worked on techniques and exercises to move correctly and safely develop my core.
I’ve been feeling really good the last few months, but more importantly I now have a set of home exercises tailored to my specific needs. I know why these exercises benefit me, I’m confident my technique is correct, and I’m planning to continue them well into old age.
Many could benefit from the expertise and coaching Sapien Fitness provides. I believe my chances for injury have been reduced and I’m using less effort to move. Thank you Milo!

These two are the best. Milo and Sophia balance their expertise with empathy in a way that makes each session feeling challenging, productive, and empowering. I originally came in for persistent lower back pain, which was gone after several sessions. After working with them for almost a year, I feel so much stronger doing the things I love like yoga, hiking, and skiing. The combined sessions (with both of them) are fantastic, it really feels like a customized and comprehensive approach to your health and fitness. Well worth the time and investment!

After an active life I was presented multiple physical challenges(74) primary idiopathic peripheral neuropathy and vestibular migraine. Other therapies have left me stronger, more balanced but I still had gait issues. Working with Milo has made me more confident in my body’s capacity to be more upright and centers. Through the focused intensely specific work, supported by Sophia’s neuromuscular therapy I am more confident . Milo and Sophia are so helpful and skilled in their knowledge of the body. I saw physical therapists for almost 2 years postpartum and still experienced quite a bit of chronic pain, particularly in my back. My physical therapists said they had done all they could do. I was diagnosed with arthritis in my back, and after seeing milo weekly for less than half the time of physical therapists, my arthritis pain was literally gone.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Sophia for massage work over the past couple of months. I have had many massages throughout the years, and have never had a better massage than with her. Sophia is very knowledgeable of the human anatomy and offers many different techniques to help relieve pain and increase mobility. I have had hip issues that many doctors have not been able to help me with for years, but just after a couple of treatments, my hip pain has drastically decreased which has greatly improved my quality of life. My daughter has been working with Milo and Sophia for almost ten months now. When she first started with them, she couldn’t walk up stairs. In fact, it had been about five years since she last walked up stairs normally.
She has a rare chronic pain disorder that is not well-understood by most practitioners, has no known cure, and no reliable treatment. Treating her disorder requires humility, patience, curiosity, and a sense of adventure.
Milo and Sophia have that rare combination of characteristics, in addition to genuine kindness and an appropriate amount of positivity — those go a long way when working with someone frustrated by chronic pain.
Together with my daughter, they set a goal of her being able to walk up stairs by the day of her high school graduation. At first, I couldn’t understand how they would get there. They were working on parts of her body that seemed (to me) unrelated to climbing stairs, but I trusted their process and, maybe most importantly, my daughter trusted them. As they got deeper into her treatment, I could see where they were going — strengthening her weak leg and re-connecting parts of her body that hadn’t worked in tandem in years.
By the time of her graduation, they got there. They even left their office and met up with my daughter at a local park with lots of stairs to give her plenty of practice. The day after graduation, she walked up the stairs at the Pikes Peak Summit House — and did a little dance when she got to the top. A well-deserved moment of celebration.
My daughter is not “cured.” It seems unlikely that she ever will be. But she is on a path of recovery with Milo and Sophia walking alongside her, cheering her on, helping her know when to keep going and when to give herself a break. We should all be so lucky to have a Milo and Sophia in our lives.

Milo and Sophia at Sapien Fitness made my epic backpacking trip in South America possible. I had two recent invasive foot surgeries before the trip, and I knew needed help to get my feet and body in shape. Five months before the trip, I told Sapien I was looking to get stronger and more confident with my balance in the short term, and then function better as I get older. I have never been interested in a regular gym, and I felt their holistic philosophy aligned with mine. Bottom line is my extremely challenging trip was a grand success carrying a heavy pack for multiple days on untrodden steep and exposed terrain in snowy and windy weather. Now I look forward to continuing to improve all aspects of my physical lifestyle with Milo and Sophia!

My grandmother, age 85, also did a few months of training. Milo and Sophia were great with her and helped her work on her strength, balance, and posture so that she was able to move around more safely!

I have been working with Milo for about 8 months. A couple of friends recommended him for various pain and structural issues and said that you just have to experience it to “get it”. I decided to finally go after realizing that my posture affected many parts of my life and I was ready to deal with it.
Instantly, I knew that Milo was knowledgeable and ready to help with this complex problem. In the last 8 months, Milo has skillfully taken me through the unique approach to fitness and body structure that is Functional Patterns. I started training with Milo at Sapien Fitness Clinic for over 6 months ago. My years of physically demanding work in Special Operations left me with injuries and chronic movement issues. Milo and Functional Patterns (FP) have helped realign my body.
It was transformative to watch the years of physical issues melted away over the weeks and months we’ve been trained together. I stand taller, move better, and even recover more quickly. All of my other physical endeavors have improved since training with Milo. Posture issues I’ve dealt with for years have improved.
After making FP my primary training modality I work out less hours per week and maintain my fitness with less effort. It’s not magic, but sometimes it feels like it is.
My results convinced my teenage son to begin training with Milo. Milo was about to address some lingering issues from an injury my son experienced that was unable to be fully resolved at traditional physical therapy.
I’m a convert and an evangelist for Function Patterns. I can’t recommend Milo enough.
Also of note is the massage therapy offered at Sapien Fitness. Sophia is a very skilled therapist. While I’ve only had one massage I look forward to my next.

I’ve had lower back pain for years now. Every month I went to the chiropractor and got massages. My experience at Sapien Fitness has been great. Milo is knowledgeable but also open about the fact that our bodies are an inquiry and every body is different. Milo’s eye for movement, alignment, and muscle engagement is truly enviable. And as fantastic as he is with movement, he also picks up on things outside the physical and approaches his client’s lives more holistically than the majority of trainers you’ll meet. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Milo at Sapien Fitness. My body has held on to a lot of physical trauma from multiple surgeries, along with the down time and lack of use that came with recovery. Since training here we have pushed my body back to not only feeling normal, but healthy. My every day posture is better, my reoccurring pains have diminished, and I feel really confident in my body’s abilities. The type of training Milo does is also mentally fatiguing, in the best way! I’ve always felt a disconnect with my brain and body until training here. Now it feels like I’m aware of my movements and able to have more refined control of individual muscle groups.
I rave about this place every time someone compliments me on my new appearance or level of confidence. If you’re hesitant at all, just try it yourself!!

I started working w/ Milo late last year and am so thoroughly thankful for the experience. I walked into the studio w/ multiple health issues which would’ve been frustrating for other trainers to deal w/, like wearing a mask, Milo however has happily made the accommodations I’ve needed and champions me each and every session. Not only has he been accommodating and encouraging, he is also very knowledgeable about how the body should work and can make the appropriate exercise adjustments needed to fix the dysfunctional ways in which my body has learned to move over the years. I have had re-occurring shoulder, and back pain for the past 5 years. I went to a physical therapist to try to solve these issues and received temporary relief, but the issues came back. I began to stop exercising and climbing for fear of triggering the my shoulder issue again. I lost confidence at the gym, and was stuck in an endless cycle of PT youtube videos and only doing isolated PT exercises (super boring). This slowly drained the joy from going climbing, and exercise in general.
Working with Milo at Sapien Fitness has totally helped solve my shoulder and back pain. But not only that, they have also given me more confidence when moving, and pointed out a lot if dysfunction in my usual movement patterns. I feel stronger, more confident in my movement, and excited to actually go to the gym after working with Sapien Fitness. I look forward to the sessions every week, and feel that I have grown in my understanding of my body. I highly recommend trying it out and trusting in the process. It is 100% worth it.

If you are looking to be a body builder or get a 6 pack Sapien Fitness is not for you. But if you are looking for someone to improve your functional strength, recover from injury, or just move better Sapien is the place to go.
In my 4 months working with Milo, he has helped me reduce my hip pain, strengthen my core, and move better in general. He makes the most of a small space with highly customized exercises tailored to your individual needs at a very affordable price. I would recommend Sapien to anyone looking for a personal trainer.

I have been working with Sophia at Sapien Fitness for almost 8 months to address neck and back pain. My neck pain is gone and I rarely have back pain anymore. I am now working on toning, posture and overall body fitness. Sophia really knows her stuff - she has the experience and knowledge to address both physical injuries and develop training goals. She is smart, flexible, patient and adjusts the sessions to where I am on a particular day, so I never feel shamed or guilty if I did not do my exercise routine as much as I planned for that week. I always feel encouraged, supported and better when I leave the clinic.
Regarding COVID 19 infection concerns - I find Sophia and her partner Milo to be extremely mindful of their client's health and safety. The staff always wear masks and the studio is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each use.
I highly recommend Sapien Fitness Clinic. It is encouraging to find such talented and hard working folks who are dedicated to improving the health and overall well being of their clients.
