Terrible business practices, very dirty, and clueless owner. In the course of 3 months I was over charged $150 in the form of dues, and the charge of dues was wrong from the beginning. Asked for a refund, a week later I leveled with the owner and asked him to just not charge me for membership until the over charge was even with dues, he agreed to this. Then just a few weeks later he said he was changing billing and it was going to be $350 a year one lump sum, no notice, no call, no letter, just info that billing is changing immediately. It would appear that the owner lives in the gym from the clothes and bed set in the closed pool area with his dog, would I wouldn’t care about if I didn’t walk through the gym and see dried dog urine in the locker room, on the gym floor, and worst of all, on the equipment. I wouldn’t made this assumption if it wasn’t for the fact that I saw the Akita mix pee on a trash can and a shoulder press and all that happened was papertown was thrown over it and walked away from. The locker room smells like it has yet to be cleaned since the gym’s opening, and toilets are regularly non functioning. There is one other staff member that appears to be homophobic and like to be confrontational at every opportunity. My advice: try any other gym than this one. I am more than happy to take the $150 loss and go somewhere that isn’t ran by a clueless owner.

I’m in town for business and thought this place sounded great cause they’ve got a lot of equipment and it’s only $10 for a day pass . . . But the place is falling apart and it’s just kinda gross and the locker rooms were really dark and gave off a rapey vibe. And like yes, they have a TON of equipment but they don’t have near enough plates for all of it. It was just weird and I’m glad I’m leaving town in a few days to go back to my clean and well lit gym.

Two weeks ago I came in to ask about the membership and how to get started, and they just told me “the owner isn’t here, come back tomorrow.” Todat once again I came to ask, but no one was in the front desk... I canceled my chuze fitness membership due to the lack of equipment. At self defined fitness they have over 100 pieces of plate loaded equipment and tons or leg stuff and upstairs is all boxing and they have indoor track. Ask for the owner Hakan , he will take good care of you.

I loved this gym while I was there because the people were friendly and equipment was great. After moving and letting my contract run out I was charged 2 months in a row. I called owner and was unable to get him (or anyone) on the phone. Eventually reached him through Facebook after threatening to report him to BBB, had to physically come in for a cash refund, was assured my account was cancelled and would not be charged again. Was charged the next month, alerted him again, no response. I had to call the bank and file a claim to ensure I am not charged again.

So I guess it's a good gym as long as you never have to cancel.

*No sanitation procedures, in the time I have been here I have not seen the STAFF clean any of the equipment. The changing rooms have a seat that has sweat stains from every time a person has sat down on it.This gym is germ infested...
*The equipment and machines break and it takes months for them to even acknowledge it. There are some machines that have been broken for over a year and has not been touched.
*The staff is rude, and only want your money. I have tried asking for advice from the employees only to have them make me feel insecure and leave me with no helpful information. They will act like you are a burden unless it comes to getting them paid. They have given me random fees, to the point i had to cancel my card. After doing so they put the new card back on the system automatically without my permission.

The only good thing from my experience here would be the equipment style and functions, but again the maintenance and the sanitation has been an issue.
People come and go in this place because of these conditions, i have yet to see any improvements in the last year.

Karina has been my trainer here for four years this is a very nice organized clean good gym. i'm reading some of the comments here I'm just like wow, when all the big other corporate Gyms turned their back on this community self defined fitness came and invested in this community and I am very thankful for that. this place is home. You have to come check this place out for yourself! this place rocks!

This is the place to train! Owner is very attentive to everyone's training and tries to help everyone with accomplishing their fitness goals! If you don't have a membership you should get one ASAP!!!

As a vet I truly appreciate this gym reminds me of my college gym back in Texas this place has so much culture art and equipment , i drive all the way from Pueblo to do legs. All Veterans get 20% off membership come check it out

Nothing like the corporate gyms, great atmosphere so much equipment it's mind blowing , a lot of options which is what I look for plus great hours , this is a real gym!

This gym is my second home! I love this place, don't have to deal with all the corporate gym non-sense! you come train go home , no one tries to sell you something, no one bothers you, its a well kept good clean gym! and this is the only gym where i can bring my own trainer.

Gym was great, and the owner is super nice.....

I had rated this gym as 5 stars but after moving away from Denver I called every month for 4 months and requested to cancel my membership but they never did and kept charging me.

I eventually just changed my card number.

I've tried a few different gyms (24 hour, better bodies, snap fitness) and this Self defined fitness has by far been my favorite one. I have been coming here for a few years now and the gym has only improved over time. The staff and the trainers are always very polite, and I feel like its great motivation that a few of them have competed proffessionaly. I've been helped a few times with my form by some of them. I like this gym because I dont want to spend my time on a treadmill walking for an hour, I want to go in lift some weights. The equipment is, in my opinion, better then 24 hour equipment. Their free weights are heaver and their dumbbells go all the way up to 150lbs (not that i can lift that much). I recommened this gym to everyone i know.
