I usually don't post stuff like this, but I also feel it's important to support people and small businesses that you believe in and give respect where respect is due.

A few short months ago I was looking for a change. I needed something or someone to kick me in the ass and get me away from the same self-destructive routine. My fiancΓ© @Shrea and I talked about it and we collectively decided to invest in my fitness while we could afford it. I am running out of years biologically to turn things around and we felt like if I entered my 40's in a poor place of fitness (given my family history of medical issues), it would not fare well for me.

So I looked a trainer with a philosophy that I agreed with. And when I saw "body transformation" paired with "functional movement" and then saw what Mike himself was capable of from a fitness/physique standpoint, I needed to know more.

From day one, this has been the most mind-opening experience to general body awareness, fitness of a functional and feel-good form, in an environment perfectly suited to my personality and training type.

The focus is NOT ego-lifting. The goal is NOTTTT isolation. You can tell from exercise one that there is a different goal when you walk into the &Start Fresh Fitness gym. There will be exercises you love and exercises that you HATE, but they ALL accumulate to a healthier you.

I feel more capable, comfortable, fit, flexible and pain-free than I have since I was in high school. And I mean that with ZERO exaggeration. At this point in my life I am 3 major hip surgeries deep and have been subdued by the acceptance that I would live the rest of my life in pain and feeling less capable physically than I wanted to be mentally.

Now I live a life of the complete opposite mindset. I consider every day a possibility for improvement. I feel more capable than I have in decades, and I have a thirst for life that I thought died years ago.

I would (and have) recommend Mike to every single person in my life that I care about and more. I think his viewpoint of fitness and athletic capability far exceeds both modern "physical therapy" and typical "advanced fitness" programs.

Mike combines every aspect of fitness; functional movement, physical therapy, and full-body work with a comprehensive understanding of the fascia system and how it plays into injury prevention, recovery, and noticeable fitness progression.

Every time I walk into Mike's gym, I am AMAZED at how many exercises, workouts, drills, and unique movements that he works in to what seems like a small space. I'm pretty sure over the course of 50 sessions, we repeated somewhere near 10 exercises. When you consider we performed nearly 20+ exercises per session(x50 sessions), that's pretty impressive.

Over the course of two packages, I am in better shape than I have been in since before my first hip surgery (high school) and can confidently say that I am in the beat shape of my life. It's ALL thanks to @Mike and @FreshStartFitness.

I had a pleasure working with Mike as my fitness trainer, and he was awesome! He helped me get in much better shape and taught me a ton of functional exercises that I still use. My left knee had gotten weaker because of some old injuries, and he really focused on helping me strengthen it with the right workouts. I saw a big improvement. Overall, Mike was super knowledgeable, easy to work with, and made the whole process fun. Highly recommend him if you’re looking for a great personal fitness trainer.

Mike is a personal trainer and dietician who cares about his clients, and who will give you good solid training without the hype. I trained with him for almost 3 years, and he helped me in numerous ways - it was a combination of strength training, guidance on nutrition, and mindset, and in that time I got stronger, my blood pressure and blood chemistries all came back to normal, I gained confidence, and I lost over 80 lbs. And I discovered something new about myself - that I love lifting weights!... He tailors workouts to a clients needs, meets you where you are right now and goes from there, there is no shaming, no in-your-face hype, just positive consistent support. I highly recommend Mike.

I started training with Mike after seeing an amazing transformation with my wife. Mike was her trainer for about 2 years before I came to my senses and joined in.

At the onset, I could tell that my goals and well being were his top priority. He integrated traditional techniques with functional patterns to improve my posture and rebuild my overall strength. He takes care to ask how the body feels during and after each workout, adjusting as necessary. Knowing I have persistent shoulder, knee and hip pain, he tailors each workout so that I can train without injury. Each workout, I am challenged, but never forced and self-shaming is not allowed.

Mike is always encouraging, easy to talk to, is responsive to your needs, and expects you to communicate openly about your progress and changing needs.

As a bonus, he offers a lot of nutritional advice and has coached me about meal prep, healthy snacking, supplements, sleep, and good mental health.

Mike is more than just a trainer. Overall, he really is wellness coach and if I may say, a great friend.

My husband and I have been working out at Start Fresh Fitness for over a year. During that time we have gained strength and better endurance. I personally appreciate that Mike hands me weights to lift that I am capable of using but would not have selected for myself! Working out can be intimidating but Mike makes it fun! Mike uses the space very efficiently and provides lots of equipment options. I highly recommend!

Working with Michael was great! We started working in person and he did a great job of working with me to figure out what exercises were most effective for my body. He helped me to improve my walking gait and posture, which helped alleviate some knee pain I was having. We switched to working online, which he made very easy to do! If you need someone to personalize your workout and help you find what might not be working and how to fix it, Michael is your guy!

I went to Mike looking to get back to being an athlete. With multiple injuries, sitting in front of a computer every day and carry some excess weight, I needed help. Mike listened and worked with me to develop fitness and nutrition goals. Working with Mike only once/week over the past 12+ months, I no longer have knee or shoulder pain from multiple surgeries, I can run again, my posture has improved, and I've lost 15+ pounds and have kept them off while putting on significant muscle.

Mike is easy to work with, is encouraging, and pushes you to constantly improve while recognizing that life happens and this a journey towards better, not a 12 week quick fix.

Mike is absolutely one of the best personal trainers that I have worked with over the years. I interviewed several trainers but knew as soon as I met Mike and we had our trial session that he was the trainer for me. As both a registered dietitian and personal trainer, his total diet/fitness regimen has helped me get into the best shape of my life. It's a beautiful thing to find that perfect personal trainer for your specific needs. Michael gets it done! Facing shoulder surgery I found Start Fresh Fitness. Michael's knowledge and instinctual style of teaching and encouragement put him on a higher level than most personal trainers. He is capable of teaching beyond the physical enhancement of each muscle. He understands how each part of the body interconnects and can affect every other part and he can convey that knowledge.

For instance, Michael had me identify
muscles that are/were tight or overly stressed, then compare them to their mirror muscles, with the help of the massage gun. This was a great strategy for getting me to recognize habits I have developed since being seriously injured in an accident. We were able to identify obscure muscles that were causing tightness and ultimately the target dysfunction. I have developed poor habits while compensating for my injuries that further complicate my recovery. Michael took the time to unravel the extremely complicated way a body can compensate and addressed it by strengthening muscles surrounding the weakness and muscles that are distant from the weakness yet connect and affect the natural way a body moves.

He is an extraordinary teacher and a compassionate coach. Not to mention his valuable expertise in nutrition. Over the past three months, I have been able to completely change my eating habits while feeling well fed and satiated. I've lost over 25 lbs. I move more easily. I feel confident about continuing to lose weight as we continue to work together.

Mike is phenomenal. I've been working out with trainers for two decades and met Mike 3 months ago. I can honestly say he's as fine a trainer as I've ever used. He's incredibly knowledgable, freakishly nice, and full of good ideas. He combines a deep knowledge of nutrition (degrees in the field) with an incredible attentiveness to the individual requirements of his client to offer a remarkably wholistic and personalized approach to training. I have been particularly impressed with his ability to transition to a Covid19 world. We do Skype sessions where I'm in a studio apartment with almost no equipment and Mike is in his home gym and yet Mike still manages to provide me with a varied and fun 60 min workouts. It's awesome!
