I’ve been attending classes at Uncommon Practice for about 6 months and have enjoyed every class! I usually take Monday class with Torey or Shelly - both instructors are wonderful! They are knowledgeable and challenge their students but also provide modifications for those that need it. Th studio is always clean and the staff is always welcoming!

After trying a few other Pilates studios, I found Uncommon Practice Pilates, and started going to Molly’s classes. Each week, Molly incorporates a variety of movements with the perfect balance of stability and strength. I’ve really enjoyed the welcoming, supportive, and challenging environment Molly creates. I would highly recommend the studio to anyone wanting to start Pilates, as well as those looking for more advanced classes.

Pilates was recommended to me by one of my physical therapists.. I was not that excited at this recommendations as I have traditionally done Crossfit style workouts and weightlifting- pilates seemed like it would be too mellow for me.. but the imbalances in my body and intensity I was putting on my body was no longer working for me. My first class I walked in and very loudly said, "this is my first class, I have no idea about anything." I believe Angie was my teacher and she was great about making sure I had the terminology down and checked in with me frequently.

I go to a variety of different class times to be able to take classes from many of the instructors. They all have their own unique style and method. Torey is going to blast your core with the sweetest smile the entire time while you secretly curse her under your breath. Shelly will also kill you a little inside when you hear "just 8 more" and you are shaking like a leaf already. Angie will always try to bring in a new toy or tool to liven things up and you will frequently leave with a new pilates experience.

All of the classes have been challenging mentally and physically. As someone who came to pilates with quite a bit of strength already, it has shown me that my big muscles have been doing all the work all along and I am frequently found trembling or looking at everyone in disbelief as they do some moves with ease. It has been a great complement to my other weightlifting and the studio is very friendly. Every class you are able to modify it however you need to... and ALL egos are left at the door! They also do regular social gatherings which have been great to attend!

LOVE this studio and am so happy it’s close to my home. I’ve taken classes here for a few years. The instructors are knowledgeable and all have different styles, which I appreciate to mix it up. My low back and hips problems are MUCH improved thanks to Emily, Angie, Molly, and team. I’d recommend this studio to anyone!

I am lucky to live across the street from this studio, so I was tempted to try out reformer Pilates for the first time. I immediately loved the small class sizes and welcoming staff, so much so that I’ve already done 65 classes in less than a year! Special shout out to Angie, who keeps the classes interesting and informative.

Wonderful studio. Delightful staff. The equipment is clean and in great shape. The classes are small enough that the instructors can give you the attention you need. They make sure the exercises work for your body's abilities. I feel stronger and more agile since I started going regularly.

I absolutely love my Pilates studio! After 1.5 years of being a dedicated member, I can honestly say it’s been an incredible experience from day one. Emily and all the instructors are so warm and welcoming, creating a community feel that makes every visit special. The small class sizes are perfect, allowing the instructors to give personalized attention and truly tailor the exercises to each individual.

What really sets this studio apart is the focus on your body’s needs. Before each class, the instructors take the time to check in—asking about any aches, areas you'd like to focus on, or specific goals for the day. They listen and adjust the exercises accordingly, ensuring that every session feels both challenging and restorative.

Every time I leave, I feel rejuvenated—both physically and mentally. It’s more than just a workout; it’s a mindful way to start the day and reset. I love how I can completely unplug from my to-do lists and be fully present in the moment.

I couldn’t recommend UP Pilates enough—whether you’re new to Pilates or a seasoned pro, this studio has everything you need for a truly transformative experience.

I’ve been a member at UP for almost a year and have never experienced a more welcoming studio! I was totally new to Pilates and I was so anxious about some of my back/ hip injuries that flare up when I get back into a workout routine, but the instructors are so knowledgeable and adjust all the exercises to your comfort level. My back has never felt better and I feel stronger than ever. The classes are also such a great mix of sweat-inducing and relaxing, as the amazing instructors (shout out to Angie!) make sure you stay focused on what muscles you need to be feeling for each exercise, so I find it very meditative as my mind cannot wander. And the front desk is great too- They are so easy to work with and try their best to get you into a class. They will even text me if I’m on the waitlist for a class and ask if I want to take an open spot in the earlier class- I have never experienced a studio that is so attentive! TLDR- Uncommon Practice is the best workout studio I’ve ever been to, and I’m so happy I’m able to support a small woman-owned business, take care of my body, and be part of an amazing community all in one place!

I absolutely LOVE Uncommon Practice Pilates. It was my first introduction to pilates. All the instructors are knowledgable, kind and patient. I love the variety of classes as well, you can get an insane workout or a restorative session. It also feels so much like a community with really wonderful co-classmates. The intimate class size makes for a curated experience tailored to injuries or specific needs. If you're looking for a new go-to studio for whole body wellness and education about well being you've found it. I also cannot say enough positive words about the owner, Emily. She genuinely cares about each member and is passionate about getting everyone in a place where they can pain-free move their bodies. She's no stranger to injury and chronic pain and she's empathetic to specific needs of each client. Love her 1 on 1 sessions and the care she puts into her business. Truly one of a kind. Book your class right now :)!

Maria teaches a great prenatal class - it was a relief to know I’d get a legit workout, without having to worry about making my own modifications or asking for a lot of individual help in a normal class. Even at 16 weeks when I was still doing most of my normal fitness things this was a great addition that I kept as often as I could through my due date, and I am impatient to get back post partum.

Had a great prenatal pilates class here with Maria. She was super attentive and made sure I was keeping my form, which is helpful in general as it can be hard to navigate safe core engagement while pregnant. The class was just challenging enough, targeting the whole body and strengthening without compromising. Highly recommend if pregnant or postpartum!

Hands down the BEST prenatal / postpartum Pilates in Denver. I started going weekly in my third trimester and continued literally up until week 39 (i.e., giving birth) and then started again when my doctor cleared me around 6 weeks postpartum. It’s a good and challenging workout while 100% safe for any stage of pregnancy / recovery due to Maria being extremely knowledgeable about pregnant and post pregnancy limitations. She is always quick to offer up modifications and comes up with a brand new workout each week using all the props and equipment you’d use in regular Pilates. I am so grateful to have found this studio (and Maria) since finding a good workout that is safe for third trimester and postpartum in Denver is near impossible.

Firehaus Pilates was the best find in my new neighborhood when I moved to Wheat Ridge in February! All the instructors are top-notch. Ownership responded so quickly to the changes the pandemic swiftly imposed, and immediately offered live online mat classes that helped me keep my sanity during those challenging shelter-at-home months. I was so happy to be able to return to the studio in person recently. The measures they are taking to sanitize the studio to protect students and instructors is comforting and commendable.

I look forward to the day when we can all share smiles in the studio again. Firehaus Pilates keeps my smiling beneath my mask in the meantime!

This is my favorite place! The only regret is that I didn’t start here earlier. JoAnna has such a grace and patience about her that instantly makes you feel comfortable and confident. I hadn’t done a workout in over 3 years; incredibly stiff and intimidated to step foot in any sort of workout but Firehaus changed my entire perception of how to move my body. I had misaligned hips, a knee injury and a bruised ego and I was immediately welcome and accepted with open arms. Within 2 months JoAnna fixed me. I’ve never had a more functioning body than after I started at Firehaus and wouldn’t recommend anywhere else for anyone wanting to start or expand their fitness journey.

Firehaus is awesome!! I came in with chronic back pain (was literally unable to bend or twist at all my first session) after over 6 months of PT, and saw JoAnna for 8 one-on-one sessions that changed my quality of life by so much!! I now go to regular classes, and all of the instructors are great - especially JoAnna, Emily, and Taylor! I feel like I have a whole new body/back/posture. So grateful to Firehaus, and recommend to anyone looking for either rehab help, or just great fitness classes.

I found Firehaus Pilates after I’d been rear-ended by a semi truck on I -70. JoAnna and all of the great instructors made adjustments for my neck, shoulder and back issues so I could get the best possible workouts. I have gained more strength and mobility than I ever imagined. My posture has greatly improved too and I’m even a tiny bit taller! Firehaus Pilates has made such a huge difference in the quality of my life; I highly recommend you take a few sessions and see for yourself.

I don't recommend this studio if you're injured. I went to the early Saturday morning spring board class a few days ago and I'm still paying for it with severe lower back pain. I told the teacher that I had a back injury and that I was taking privates at another studio to mitigate pain (I had been pain free for a month prior to this class). She was nice enough but 30 minutes of straight springboard jumping without any corrections or pauses to change positions was not ok for me; I've taken spring board classes at PH7 and Move Studios and they did not have us jumping for 30 minutes without a break. Even though I paused several times while the teacher was going full steam ahead jumping, my back still suffered. There were no corrections to either myself or the other student (who I witnessed having some bad form) during the regular Pilates part of the class either. I ended my ClassPass membership because of this experience, as I have yet to find another studio like my regular one that is appropriate for injured students. Please, if you have a back injury, do not risk this place.

I tried Firehaus Pilates (and Pilates in general) for the first time when I was six weeks postpartum. Having zero experience with Pilates, I didn't know what to expect -- but I did know that, at the time, my ab separation meant I was restricted from running, doing planks, push ups, and a whole host of other exercises I loved doing pre-pregnancy. JoAnna and the Firehaus were very familiar with postpartum and they understood what my limitations were and had some great recovery exercises to help get my core strong again without making the injury worse. I started with three private sessions but loved my experience so much, I recently bought a 10-pack of private training sessions that's already halfway gone.

JoAnna is a wonderful instructor and is great at creating exercises that are perfect for what my body needs that week. If I want to work on obliques, we work on obliques. If I want to get rid of that flabby "mom arm" -- she's got something we can try.

I can't say I've noticed huge changes in my body just yet, but my stomach is getting flatter and my core muscles are feeling stronger for sure. The movements are more isolated and require more control, and I love how I feel when I walk out after a session.

If you're on the fence about Pilates, either because you've never done it or you haven't enjoyed your experience at other locations, you need to check these guys out! I highly recommend this studio and the people who work there.

I first heard about rehabilitation pilates in August of 2015. I had a torn rotator cuff that would require a complete reverse shoulder surgery. My orthopedic surgeon advised me that it was a difficult surgery that could result in a worst scenario with more pain than I had previous to the surgery. She called it salvage surgery. Physical therapy had not resulted in much improvement. I looked around for a different type of rehab. When a friend mentioned rehabilitation pilates, I was skeptical because of my age, weight and physical condition. However, being in pain motivated me to try it. What a blessing. I started working with Rachel one day a week and am now doing three days a week. My shoulder pain is gone, I can actually wash my hair with both hands (range of motion restored) and my core is so much stronger that I haven't fallen and I can easily get up from low furniture. I highly recommend this studio and Rachel regardless of presenting condition, age or weight. It's amazing...give it a try.

It's now December 2016 and I had a complete knee replacement 7 weeks ago. The healing process has been amazing thanks to the prehab I did at the Firehaus Pilates Studio. At one day, the PT at the hospital gave me an A+ ...my knee bent back and I had no trouble lifting my leg. If you need joint replacement, I recommend prehab as it makes healing so much easier. I had previously had a new hip and it was much more painful and took longer than my knee to become mobile and stable..no need for walker and just a week with cane and I had used a cane for 10 years. again, regardless of weight, age or physical condition, the Firehaus pilates studio will get you ready for surgery.

They're better than you expect. No really - I mean it. You won't find a Pilates studio in Denver, for sure, and probably not in all of Colorado, that will impress you more than this one. The staff here is nothing short of fabulous. They truly care about what they do, and they know their stuff. They take the time to learn your limitations and needs, and they personalize your program to get amazing results. The equipment is the best in the industry, too. No corners were cut here - it's solid, smooth, and wonderful to use.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I started going to Firehaus Pilates about 7 months ago. I have noticed a huge change in my body. I've done a few of the group classes, but mostly one-on-one privates with Rachel and Danielle. I delivered twin baby boys in February and needed to get my body back online after pregnancy. I had a significant diastasis-recti as well as a prior back injury. Both are healing and I am getting increasingly stronger. I've done Pilates as well as physical therapy in the past, but I've never been to a better studio. The staff at Firehaus are helping me reach my fitness goals. It is a fun, dynamic, and welcoming environment with top of the line equipment. I honestly can't say enough good things about this studio!

I really enjoyed my time at Firehaus Pilates. I had several private sessions with Clare and she was wonderful to work with and knew exactly what my body needed. She treated me like a friend. I went to a few regular reformer classes also and they really kicked my arse! The only thing I did not appreciate about the studio was that I bought a package and the expiration was never explained to me so after 30 days, I lost a few classes I had paid for. It was impossible for me to use them in 30 days because of my job, so I was a little disappointed by this. My only other critique is that I wished they had a larger changing/bathroom area. They do have ample parking and the space is fantastic. I would recommend this studio for someone who wants a personal approach to pilates but who also has the dedication and time to go during 'regular business hours'.

Firehaus Pilates is absolutely the best Pilates studio in Denver. They use Balanced Body reformers and equipment. When I came for the first time, I was blown away by the smoothness of movement and ease of use compared with other equipment I've used at other studios. The studio is well lit, very clean, and offers easy street parking outside. Rachel, the owner and my personal trainer, is an absolute Godsend. I signed up for private lessons because I am recovering from an ankle injury and am five months pregnant. Rachel is a certified physical therapist and trained in prenatal Pilates, and she has been even more instrumental in my recovery than my original medically prescribed physical therapy. She has helped tremendously to loosen my fascia which has been tight as a result of scar tissue from my injury, and it has made a world of difference in my general comfort and overall recovery. She is a wealth of information and is so keenly observant of my movements that she gently corrects even the slightest deviation from perfect form to ensure my recovery and the best possible workout. We're moving, and I am mourning the loss of her weekly guidance! One session with Rachel and you, too, will become a die-hard devotee. They offer great classes as well, including the hard-to-find cardio jumpboard which is a tremendous all-in-one workout. Go and see where the fire is! Fuel the burn!

A beautiful space--but more importantly, an incredibly skilled staff. I've had 3 private sessions with Rachel and she has such therapeutic insight while using pilates equipment and technique to create pain-relieving transformation in my body. I have dealt with structural challenges from scoliosis for most of my adult life and this is some of the best work I've received anywhere. And, believe me, I have spent many hours and thousands of dollars in various modalities attempting to maintain energetic function so that I can do the things I love---including competitive swing dancing. I can't wait to see what relief and progress I'll feel at each session.

About 3 months ago I came to Firehaus Pilates hoping to heal some old nagging injuries and just improve my overall core strength. I started meeting with Clare once per week in private sessions and immediately began to notice the difference. In a couple of weeks my lower back pain was almost gone, and I have made substantial strides in mitigating hip flexor issues that have been a constant annoyance. Beyond the pain reduction, I have noticed an overall increase in my strength and muscle tone. As far as the facility and atmosphere are concerned, the building and equipment are all new. The facility has a large floor plan so there is never any crowding. Clare is a pleasure to work with as she genuinely cares about her clients well-being. This has been an overall great experience.

11/11/2013
I was diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder in January of 2013. After 3 months of PT I had made little progress and my Orthopedic Dr suggested surgery. I asked if he had ever prescribed pilates and he said, 'yes, but it rarely works.' I got him to agree that I could replace PT with pilates and started with private sessions at Firehouse Pilates. After just 3 months I was in full classes as Firehouse and 1x per month private with Rachel. Rachel was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! She knew how hard to push and when to push harder. Here I am six months later....FULL range of motion of motion in my shoulder AND my core looks better than it has in 20 years. I would highly recommend the team at Firehouse for both class style and private sessions. Oh and the new location is fabulous.
