Its July 4th, they have disabled key-fob access. I guess for the holidays. What's the point of a 24/7 gym thats is not open 24/7?

Update 3 days later - They literally did block keyfob access on July 4th, i was able to get in 3 days later with the same key fob.

Elizabeth is awesome. She signed us up about a month ago. (My husband and I just hit our “Silver Sneakers” season. We love free gym memberships.) And it was only $69 bucks for Elizabeth to give us the training that is required! I really gained a lot of knowledge from her.
We originally joined Planet Fitness in Waterford. Nice staff but it turned out to be too big for me. When we came here it was a good size. The equipment is good. The extra room in back is my favorite. I like the TRX. (I lost 3 lbs in a month!) I also appreciate the clean shower room/bathroom. They have two of them. Both are private.
Anytime Fitness has a friendly environment and is perfect for us. We come faithfully 3 times a week and we get a lot of encouragement from Elizabeth. I actually give them ten stars!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!! The manager was the absolute rudest to me and my boyfriend (I wish I got her name). I was looking around to see if I even wanted to join the gym and she goes “I see you’re with one of our members. You’re not supposed to be here without signing in on the guest form and paying $15,” berating us the entire time. I then said my father goes here and she tried to get his information by saying she doesn’t recognize the name. She then FORCED me to write my information down and had an attitude the entire time. Plus, the gym is extremely small and the machines are awful. Go to a commercial gym. It’s way better. I love coastline fitness in Saybrook. The staff is better, it’s 24/7, and they have updated machines. Guess I’m not changing gyms and my boyfriend is. Funny how they were going to gain a member but with an absolute Karen there they so lost one 😂. I cannot believe that I even considered switching gyms. DO NOT GO HERE! I PROMISE ITS NOT WORTH IT.

This location has no water fountain and currently not ONE working bathroom. Do not go to this location, there is a beautiful facility only a few exits away in Deep River— worth it, especially if, God forbid, you need to use the bathroom.

Love this gym, it’s quiet and they have a very large studio space. Perfect if you don’t like a crowded gym! Herb and Elizabeth are very friendly and helpful

Based on the facility, equipment, service by owners and cleanliness, I would give this Anytime Fitness a 2 to 3 star review. It's a small facility, but has all the equipment that I like to use. Also, I have never had issues with any equipment being broken down and not working.

I have had some issues with the owners as it relates to communication and getting an actual physical contract. I was an add-on to my husband's contract (which he lost) and was told that I would get my own copy, but never received one. After a certain amount of time went by and I still hadn't gotten the contract, I was told that they couldn't print me out a copy because after you join, it just disappears from their system or something to that effect. So I had to rely on getting the detailed information from the owners themselves. Another issue was related to my key fob not working a couple of times. Eventually they replaced my key fob with a new one.

Wish they did have free water, besides having to take it out of the bathroom sink. They charge for bottled water and there is no water fountain.

Doesn’t explain the locked membership when first meeting. By locked membership i mean 50$ a month for 18 months with NO way out besides giving it to someone else. The women who runs the place is constantly on you, berating you, telling you that you shouldn’t use so and so equipment. If I’m paying 50$ a month, for a tiny gym with half the equipment a gym should have, I shouldn’t be spoken to like a child about equipment I know how to use. Would not recommend.

Anytime Fitness is a wonderful place to become a member at. I have enjoyed the location for years. The couple who owns it are friendly, kind and always there to help when I have needed them. They also have a great knowledge about workouts and do a amazing job training. I would recommend anyone to give Anytime Fitness in Old Saybrook a try!

Very terrible experience. Walked through town and wanted to go in to look at the gym. We stood at the door looking in window for 5 minutes. Saw a lady in the back putting on her shoes (which we found out later was the manager) and she never even waved at us. Then a nice member was about to walk in and we asked if they had good weight section….he was kind enough to ask us if we wanted to see the inside. My fiancé went in with him and I waited outside. When they went in they got a scolding from the lady putting on her shoes!!! Saying “I was sitting here waiting to see if you were gonna let him in and you can’t do that”. I’m sorry but that is horrible customer service and she could have said it a million other ways! Or how about if you see someone wanting to come in and actual rang the door bell she could have waved. She lost two potential new members and upset a member. Now reading the below reviews I would not even consider it.

Nice gym, they have a good selection of equipment and it was clean, they had sanitizer spray and towels for you to clean your equipment when you’re finished with it, and the non exercise areas were clean and nice. The staff members were very nice and helpful.

Worst gym on shoreline, manager incredibly rude about reciprocal access (which is allowed within first 30 days during staffed hours). Dirty, dusty, broken equipment and even disgusting hair caught in machines. Small and no place to stretch and warm up. Should be closed, remodeled and manager fired. Would not recommend whatsoever.

Looks clean because no one is ever here but everything is sticky and never gets cleaned off regularly. Way back when they had sanitary wipes but due to cost cutting (I guess) they just leave rags around for you to (spread germs around) the equipment. Been trying to cancel a membership and no one gets back to you.
