We love Astra. My daughter has become such a more confident and social person since she has started here. This is her 6th year of competition and she absolutely loves it . We love the choreography and Miss Brittany wins special awards in every competition. Nanci is the best. We love Astra. Best place ever 🔥🔥

My daughter is in her 9th season of dance at Astra Studio. It is a fantastic studio and the best in the area, especially if your child is looking for competition dance. Innovative choreography and great teachers are just a part of what make it special. They offer opportunities outside the studio and team, like dancing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and community performances. If your child is debating dance, i encourage you to try it.

My daughter, Elleyana has been dancing / competing at Astra Studio for 8 years now . She started as tiny little 5 year old “ballerina”, and is now a young lady at age 13 who has blossomed tremendously over the years and now competes in many genres of dance , even the ones she she “thought” she didn’t like or “ thought” she wasn’t good at. All thanks to Brittany W and Astra Studio ! Elleyana wouldn’t be the dancer she is today if not for you ! Thank you for opening so many doors and opportunities for her ! It is not just a school / student feeling , it’s like family . Elleyana loves going to Astra ! We highly recommend Astra Studio !

I can’t say enough good things about this studio and the lovely ladies who run it! My daughter (3 years old) is new to dance and has fallen in love with it. I’m certain that is in no small part because of the creative, fun, engaging and encouraging environment that Astra has built. Jojo can’t wait to resume dance classes!

Astra studio is our first dance school experience and I was really nervous after hearing horror stories about other studios. This studio is AMAZING and I couldn’t recommend it more. All the kids came running up to my daughter to greet her and learn her name. She has been so welcomed by student and staff alike. All the older students tell the littles how well they’re doing and really nurture them. The teachers are so nice and answered all the questions I had. We’ve truly had the best time and will be signing up for the next season!

I unfortunately had to waste a year dancing here and dreaded going there every day. They cared more about getting money and the monthly tuition than actually getting to know their students and their talents. I learned nothing new. Me and a friend of mine who also danced there wanted to perform a duet which we had choreographed ourselves and instead of encouraging us to keep going and dancing. Britney and her mom said we could only perform it if Britney choreographed it and we payed for a couple weeks of lessons together. This is probably the nicest out of all the bad experiences Ive had at Astra. I had been dancing for 10 years Prior and after one year there they managed to have me loose my passion for dance.

I absolutely love it here, it is my second year dancing here and it is very much so like a family. They push you to become so much better than you could ever imagine you could be. I have had a nothing but positive experience dancing here. They treat every student equally and make sure every students needs are accommodated. I haven’t met someone who hasn’t walked away with a good experience.

Astra truly is a family away from home, and a place where I can feel confident my children are receiving the most well-rounded performance education possible. I say "performance education", as it is not only limited to dance. Brittany is able to successfully integrate elements of acting, character development, solid dance fundamentals and self-confidence. All of these result in a solid performance and deeper understanding of how to put emotion into a performance and connect with an audience. I have noticed tremendous improvement in both of my children and an ever increasing love of the performing arts.

It is also important to note that regular workshops have been held with industry professionals such as: professional dancers, actors/actresses and Broadway costume organizers. I have seen first-hand how excited all of the students get and how much they learn at these workshops, in addition to inspiring them. (Kind of like meeting your favorite rock star!). Ms.Nanci is also a pleasure to work with, and I'm amazed at how organized she stays with so much to help coordinate.
Thanks so much Astra...for creating a passion and love of the arts in my children!

My Grandchildren have been apart of the Astra family for the past two years. I say family because this studio is just that, a home away from home!!
My Grandkids have not only grown with their social skills where mutual respect and cooperation is most important but have developed self confidence, motivation and dedication, all the while being able to accept constructive criticism and direction.
Miss Brittany is a wonderful teacher and mentor. All her dancers love her and the way she makes learning fun. She is always smiling...that alone is contagious! Brittany is not only a gifted teacher and choreographer but is creative and challenging.
Ms. Nanci is an "ace" at running the front end and that's alot!! She's the go to person for just about everything. You have a question or concern...she's helpful and communicative.
Along with classes, there has been several workshops with many guest artists. The dancers have also participated in community minded activities such as The Old Saybrook Torch Parade, a show at The Estuary Center and have performed in "MOVE", a cultural arts event at The Kate Theatre.
If you're searching for a studio, look no more! Astra Studio of Dance and Performance Arts is where you need to be!!! 💝

Not a positive experience for my 10 yr old daughter. She was penalized for an upcoming position on a brand new unannounced competitive team and publicly shamed in front of her classmates because I messed up the recital dates and said she wouldn't be able to attend. Point is..I made the mistake but my daughtet paid the price.
Doesn't bode well for a company whose clientele are children. Shame on them
