It was a great round, the starter was very friendly. It has a bit of a private course feel. The restaurant was very nice. The course was in great conditions, and it was definitely a challenge. My only question is: How come the practice green contains illegal pins? Every hole was on a slope, and for a course that has greens that fast, a fair practice green to gauge speed would be nice. Other than the practice green, this was the nicest public course I have ever played! I definitely will be coming back.

Not saying itβs a bad course to play on, the staff is just weird. We had 4 scheduled at noon and they throw a 5th at us randomly.. who does that ..we have schedules to keep.
Then when playing, a ranger paces by and kindly says the next hole is wide open, we understand that but you are the one creating this environment where it takes more time to get though the whole. The 5th has a push cart.
Itβs whatever but something to note when dealing with the people there.

Please put the actual prices to play on the online reservation portal. My friend and I booked a tee time online saying it was $39 dollars for 9 holes and then had to pay $55 when we showed up. Probably would not have gone had I know it was that price but obviously there is a cancellation fee

Went to the singles dance , there Dancing was good, food sucked potato salad had too much mayo, was swimming in the mayo , pasta salad tasted like the pasta was old and ice cream dessert was so small and they put a cube size brownie next to the ice cream. Paid 45 to eat for buffet for singles dance. Very disappointed.

This is a very nice venue. Iβve had the pleasure of doing a couple of weddings here, and today I photographed a Sweet 15 | Quinceanera. (Obviously, Iβm a photographer!) The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and the food is consistently great. They have a beautiful space for parties, weddings, and other events.
If youβre looking for a place to host your next event, I highly recommend this venue!

The folks in the pro shop were not helpful. The course routing isnt great. They are working on the course (removing brush, and possibly fixing drainage etc) but there's alot of work to be done. Conditions were subpar.
The starter was a gentleman.

2hours and 20 minutes to play 9 holes on a Sunday afternoon pretty late into the season. a group of 4 teenagers were two groups ahead taking pictures, videos, and their sweet time. no ranger the whole time. rude starter, as others have said. overpriced for the experience.

Worst greens in the state of Connecticut with poor pin placement. Thereβs zero reason the greens should have the shape and hills that they have for average golfers. If they flatten the greens and fix pin placement the course would be significantly better.

I thought the course was very nice and the grounds crew does a good job of maintaining the place. When I got to the place, I was approached by the starter with a rude tone telling me it was car path only and if my cart were to even sniff the grass, someone would come out take my bag off, and I would have to walk back. Honestly, pretty rude And I wonβt be coming back here again overall pretty mediocre course 5 1/2 out of 10

Came in from out of town, went the course based on the reviews. Course layout is really good and overall conditions are great. My only complaints (minor) would be pace of play wasnβt great and greens are slow. But would recommend and would most certainly come back.

Having played Whitney Farms on and off for 35 years I had not been a fan until recently. The layout was and is a little quirky. When the course was poorly maintained that quirkiness was annoying especially because the greens were so bad. Over the last couple of years the course has undergone a remarkable transformation. The greens now are smooth and roll true although they are as difficult as ever to read. Kudos to the new greenskeeper!. Tee to green is generally very good. There are visible efforts to improve sight lines and playability. Some holes, like 13 still need work as the landing area is as likely to reward a good shot with a bounce into the woods as not.
Finally, Billy Street the new pro brings energy and enthusiasm that is infectious. Billy is also a very good teacher and a fine player in his own right.

Paid 92$ to play a run of the mill golf course nothing special here that should jack up the prices that high. Off the back of one of the greens I hit a chip shot and found a rock in the ground, chipping my wedge. waste of money

We recently held our daughters wedding at the Stone Barn at Whitney Farms. We shared such a beautiful day with our friends and family and even though it rained, the venue made the day all the more special and beautiful. Pictures were taken inside the beautiful dining room with the background of the golf course with excellent lighting. From the excellent service from the staff, servers, bartenders to the outstanding appetizers and delicious dinners that were served, everyone was thoroughly happy! Thank you to Christina and Gerti for helping plan an extra special day for the Gorman and Scalero families!

Extremely rude pro shop staff that thinks anyone under 35 is a delinquent that lacks manners, etiquette, accountability, and common decency. The course is extremely poorly maintained and covered in geese droppings. Do not give these people your money. Will never play here again nor allow friends to host events here.

Let me start by saying that I did not golf here but went to an event in the main building. The place is nice looking and the room is a nice size. The food on the other hand, is a different story along with the waitress who was working. Now, it could have been that it was a buffet, but they still cooked it, so tag their it. Some of the food was warm while other trays were ice cold with some warm gravy thrown over the top, making it quite unpleasant. When asking the waitress for a napkin, she said to find one at another table. This place has a lot of potential and just needs some over sight, and it could be better.

Glad I had the chance to try out the course as I have been told it was one of the more challenging course in CT, however, it was one of the few times where I couldn't wait for the experience to be over. The course layout itself is nice but the condition of the tee boxes and fairways was rougher than I would expect for a higher end course. When I arrived I asked for advice and was warned that the greens aren't flat and hit it straight. They weren't kidding. The fairways were extremely narrow, although they advertise the exact opposite on the website, however I did find the rough very playable, but sticking a green from anything beyond 120 was almost impossible. There are a lot of blind shots with no warning of hazards and some hazards right along the narrow fairways. The hole markers show only distance and the back of the scorecard is vague. As a first time visitor I was shocked by the lack of information. My best drive of the day which was straight over a hill in the path of the fairway, happened to go into a pond that was not visible or marked and there was no way to determine it was there unless having golfed there prior. Also I'm not sure who updates Garmin on green distances, but I found that my one year old product was displaying false fronts as the front of the green. I'm not holding that against the course but would recommend anyone using a gps to pay attention to the distance markers. The course gave off vibes of a old school private course that was forced to open to the public.. I would recommend anyone who has never golfed here to stop by if you like a challenge, but would not recommend unless you're a sub 10 handicap. Would also not recommend if your looking for a relaxing day with casual golfers. This course will likely make you question why you golf at least once.

Course keeps getting more fun to play, from overhaul of starters, rangers, bartenders, office staff (Carl behind register) to new range balls. Pro, Bill, keeping everything running smoothly, round averages 4 to 4.5 hrs. Also a great teaching pro and keeping an updated pro shop, if you don't see what you want he'll get it in a reasonably timely manner. The owner is putting back to the course, every time I play they have crews working on all aspects of the course, tees, greens, plantings, steps, drainage, etc...just one thing that needs to be addressed is available handicap βΏοΈ parking, we need more!! As far as I'm aware this is the most underrated course in the state with its challenging par 5s and its unique par 3s. This course has it all, love the senior rates.

We hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner in the Players Club room. We were so pleased with every aspect of the event. The staff helped with all the planning from a slideshow to a music playlist, to setting out intricate floral centerpieces. All with smiles. The food was excellent, the service beyond perfect. Our guests loved the golf simulator as an added special treat. The owners were present and extremely attentive, warm and inviting. The entire place is immaculate and the landscaping is gorgeous. This is a hidden gem in Monroe. I can't wait to take advantage of it again. I'm surprised that anyone would give less than 5 stars because I would give 10 if I could.

I have never been treated so poorly by a business. My friends mother and I went on a Saturday afternoon, met with the owner, went through all of the details and he left us with the information for the deposit amount to book a bridal shower. She went in Monday morning and the owners were out and the extremely rude staff told my friends mom that date and room are booked and made it seem like her fault. When I called another staff member was so incredibly rude. I have never been spoken to like that from someone in a customer service role. When I talked to the owner the next day she was also extremely rude, did not feel bad that they gave away our date, and hung up on me when I tried asking what had happened in the less than 48 hours since we had been there. I have worked in the events industry for over 10 years, including time at an even venue, and while a deposit is required to reserve an event, it is a well known courtesy to call the first party, especially with strong interest, and offer them the space before giving it to a new person. If I could select 0 stars on this rating I would.

Course fairways and greens are in very good shape . The tee. Ocean show the wear of the season, but that has to be expected at this time of the year. The staff was very good, easy to communicate with and very professional. However, there was an alleged supervisor that felt the need to talk down to me. Even though I came in as a hired vendor for the bride and groom this alleged female supervisor felt the need to demand and bark orders at me, then abruptly turn the lights on so the guests knew its time to leave. I'm a very easy going, grounded team player (even if its with another team) that believes in reaching the same common goal. If your upper staff (management) feels the need to disrespect others whether their a vendor or guest they just might get more than they expect. I would've given 4 stars, however that experience caused the rating to drop. You want guests to have a great experience, not a negative one which means your management may need a coach to teach them how customer service should be displayed.

We were there for a "celebration of life" for my son, who passed last week. It was a nice, albeit sombee affair. Saw many people that we hadn't seen in some time, which was nice. As far as the facility goes, the soft drinks were fine (I don't drink alcohol). The food was good too. Chicken picatta, pork tenderloin, ziti and excellent veggies. Salad was fair to good, simple spinach, onions, tomato and pepperoncini in a vinegary dressing. Rolls were excellent. Atmosphere was rather nice and staff was excellent, attentive, friendly, and helpful.

Had a wedding at 10am and place was NOT clean when we arrived to set up at 8am. Bathrooms had no been cleaned, beer bottles and trash were all over the place. Staff was grumpy and were rushing us because they had back to back events and started setting up for a baby shower during our wedding and now we have baby shower decorations in our wedding photos.
