2 months ago I went to cancel my membership and they said that it would only be charged for one more month, I accepted but they continued to charge me $58.48 and that was exactly the reason why I canceled it, because they were charging me too much money, when other people were charging them less than $30.
I went to get my money back but they told me they couldn't. It doesn't seem professional to me that they can't do it because they were informed 2 months ago that I wanted to cancel the membership.

It’s a little outdated compared to a gym such as edge, but it has all the weights you need, basketball, dance classes, spin room/class, shake shack, racket ball, pool, hot tub.

Sloppy sloppy. Equipment is old and in disrepair. Staff is only available to cancel your supposedly “month-to-month” membership from 9-5 on weekdays when most of us work. I went in on my day off at 1:30pm and they still can’t do it. This company is shady and it is a mistake to put your money here. I do not recommend ESPORTA.
I signed up here to stay healthy postpartum while utilizing kids club as advertised when signing up. Corporate is now permanently closing down kids club opportunity for not only my family but so many more. This notice came in less than one week to all members on a piece of paper in person. Waiting for a courtesy update on the website for convenience of others who may go far out of their way to come only to find out they may have to cancel memberships. Yes I read the terms and conditions that this can happen but how unprofessional of the company. I will be sure to spread the word.

Since I am only visiting Bristol temporarily, I called Powerhouse Gym and Esporta Fitness to see which would give the more competitive rate for the short time I'm here. For a 1-month membership, Powerhouse Gym said it would cost $50 and Esporta Fitness said it would cost $30. Of course, I went to Esporta Fitness to sign up because it was cheaper. However, in-person they then told me it would actually cost me $80. I asked them why they told me $30 on the phone, and they said "oh well every guest pays a $50 annual fee." So, after being lied to by Esporta Fitness, I went to Powerhouse Gym. They gave me the exact price that they stated on the phone, which was cheaper than Esporta Fitness.

All that being said, why go to a gym that will mislead about something as simple and important as cost? If you are in Bristol, sign up for Powerhouse Gym!

Here is what happened. I decided to cancel my membership, I email them and no response, I called and I was asked to come in person. I went there in person, and the front skinny nice guy confirmed my membership will be canceled and I should not be worried about the auto deposit payment coming out of my account. 2 weeks later, I noticed a charge of the monthly membership. I called the front desk on the weekend, and I was told my membership is still active and I need to talk to John who is the club manager during the weekdays. I called John to complain and I was told that I have no record of coming in and canceling. I asked him to check the security camera and I provided him the date and time. He refused to cancel over the phone and he asked me to come in person to cancel. And I can only come until 6pm(while he is there). I went to the gym, and I had to wait for 25 minutes until he finished with a client, he did not apologize of the mistake, he just handed me the debit machine to pay the penalty of canceling my membership.. In summary, you can't cancel your membership over the phone. You can only cancel while Mr John is available, you need to keep chasing them and waste your time. The system is absolutely corrupted. I hope the management read my complaint. Please don't tell me I'm not in your record, I go to Esporta branch in Bristol CT and I'm willing to call to provide you more information of this incident.

Pros to this gym: Wide range of weights, along with sauna and Jacuzzi.
Cons to this gym: Weights scattered absolutely everywhere, from 5lbs-15lbs never racked, never to be found. Front desk management is way too concerned with gossiping, and being part of "Gym drama" than making sure the showers and gym floor is sufficient. Members are tired of this unprofessional, and ignorant Manager. Please someone reach out.

Brought my son to shoot hoops and was told he had to be 12 to go on the courts. He was going to be shooting with me(his father). While my trainer and experiences within the club were great, the sales team’s ability to understand what the phrase, “I wish to cancel my membership,” was quite lackluster. Attempted to cancel via phone which is apparently impossible due to the contract, attempted to cancel in store, but there is only one salesperson, and he works very cushy hours. Had to blacklist them on my credit card in order for the cancellation to actually take place. Very disappointed!

It’s a very good gym. I usually go early in the morning. I am able to workout with no issues because it’s not crowded, however I would have given more starts if the weight rack is organized and the place would be as well. Plates are all over the place and the racks are partially empty most of the times, and staff do not do their part but sit at the front end. Do better for an even more motivated and better experience.

Was experiencing some lower back pain but wanted to go into the gym to at least get some cardio and maybe some light weights in. Stopped to talk to Michael and had mentioned that I had pulled/hurt my lower back playing with my kids but I was just going to go easy until I felt better. Michael asked me if I stretch out normally before working out. I usually do or so I thought . He asked if he could show me some diff things and see if he could get me feeling better. I took him up on his offer but I will admit I was not expecting much to change as I have pulled stuff in my back before it and it usually takes rest and time but if he was willing to take time from his day then I was willing to try it. Michael stretched me out for a good 15-20 min with some stretches I would of never have been able to do without his help/knowledge. After he was done and I got up I was completely blown away.! Not only was my back 100% better but my entire body felt like it was brand new. Michael took the time and explained everything to me and was happy to help. Would absolutely recommend going in and seeing Michael for any training recommendations as well as any aches and pains. Very professional and knows exactly what he is talking about.

I love this gym and the location, and I recommended it to a friend of mine- so she signed up with Michael.

Michael made numerous comments about her pelvic region, and how she was working out improperly. When we spoke to him again and told him the comments he made made her uncomfortable he said it was because my friend was “egotistical.”

The grown man then stated that two young women were attacking him..

I believe he is completely unprofessional and a horrible asset to this gym.

But if you can stay away from personal training and signing up with him it’s a great gym to utilize!

I like the gym. Everyone that works there is very nice and it’s very clean. The blonde women who cleans the women’s locker room, showers and bathrooms scrubs the place down.

It is also a good price for what you get.

What I don’t like about the gym is; the pool hogs.

Tip: Don’t try to use the pool before 5pm.
In the morning and early afternoon the older people spend hours in the pool and have no issues cutting in front of you if you are waiting to use pool.

I recently joined this gym about three weeks ago & I have to say I've had an amazing experience since the moment I walked in. The staff is top of the line as far as customer service, experience & just overall professionalism. I am far from a gym rat but now understand how people become them because this gym will have you wanting to go back time & time again. They have everything you need the layout is perfect. The facility is extremely CLEAN (compared to some of the other locations) I work directly with Michael who is I believe the head trainer/manager & his knowledge on fitness is endless. His passion for teaching is undeniable I'm sure I will see results in months or maybe even weeks to come. Some days if I don't want to work out I just go and jump in the pool which is rarely packed there is always a lane open and if there isn't gym members are courteous enough to let you know how long they will be swimming. I've paid for other gyms like Planet Fitness, The Edge, but by far, this gym has been the best bang for my buck. Extremely affordable for everything they offer. Definitely recommend!

Been a loyal member for ten years. LA fitness is rebranding to ESporta and offering new memberships for $9.99 per month. When I asked about the $9.99 offer I was promptly told I would need to pay $250 to buy out my membership, I would need to wait 90 days, then pay $100 to change to the $9.99 membership. I am a television announcer for ESPN, but I'm based in FL. In February, I had to go to Bristol to host a show at our studio. Normally when there, I workout on our ESPN Campus, but on this trip, the ESPN Wellness Center was still closed. I arranged to obtain a guest pass to LA Fitness and I was so impressed. The employee who signed me up was Catherine, and she was incredibly kind, knowledgeable and efficient. The staff was very friendly and fortunately obsessed with cleanliness and orderliness. Staff members routinely walked the facility floor, picking up weights, any tiny bit of trash and making sure there were plenty of paper towels, sanitizing spray and disinfectant. The members also were very respectful and did a good job of being responsible by cleaning equipment after use.
I never experienced too many people trying to workout at one time, and in fact, everyone there did a natural good job, of their choosing, to keep adequate space between each other.
I will definitely seek to return to this LA Fitness each time I visit our studio, and if I lived locally, this would be the health club I'd join!

One of the only indoor bodies of water in all the land, this particular pool at La Fit Newington is the best. You can reserve a lane any time of day between 5 am and 9 pm , and it's a guarantee to get your swim on!

Very disappointed in this clubs cancellation methods. Having to print a form and mail it to CA to cancel membership in this day and age is ridiculous. Also closed amenities does not constitute getting reimbursed for membership fees due to something totally out of our control is not a good business practice.
