FARMERSTRENGTH in Danbury is a world-class gym for strength and conditioning. Founded by Coach Gareth McCloskey (“Coach G”), he brings unmatched energy, expertise, and attention to his clients. FARMERSTRENGTH's unique workouts are purposeful, challenging, and designed to help you get stronger and move better — improving yourself on all levels. Part of what Coach G does is to help you move like our (farming) ancestors did, the way human physiology was designed.
Coach G trains all ages and types of clients - including athletes, from amateur/ pro boxers to hockey players. He also helps the more “mature” crowd manage chronic conditions such as diabetes or back pain, guiding them toward health and longevity. FARMERSTRENGTH offers a remedy for our modern sedentary and poor nutrition lifestyles. As a physician, Coach G’s program has truly impressed me.
The gym has a great community vibe — supportive, disciplined, and focused on real results. Coach G’s spiritual philosophy and training skill set are truly inspirational; he’s the real thing.

My FarmerStrength experience has been amazing. Coach G knows exactly what he’s doing and will make you workout parts of your body you never knew about. Also has very great warms up & after work out stretch routines. His workouts are very unique nothing like going to the gym and picking up weights. Anyone who has been thinking or considering of going, I highly recommend you do ASAP! I have been going for 4-5 months now I believe and I have seen a huge change in my body to when I first started going. Not to mention Coach G is also more than coach you feel like you’re working out with a friend. Very good guy & knows exactly what he is doing. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve been training with Coach G at Farmer Strength since June of this year, and it’s been such a game changer.
I feel stronger mentally and physically. Its helped a ton as support for my kickboxing training.
Coach G has also given me a lot of amazing insight about life along the way!
If your an athlete I would highly recommend but I’d honestly recommend him to anyone just looking for guidance on getting healthier overall.
He’s knowledgeable and mindful of what you need when it comes to strength and conditioning but also focuses on mobility, and recovery.

I’ve been training with Coach Gareth at Farmer Strength for over a month now, and I can confidently say he knows his stuff better than many so-called personal trainers out there. His pricing is more than fair for the value you get—he doesn’t just guide workouts, he builds confidence.
Before joining, I had no idea where to begin. I felt out of place in most gyms, overwhelmed by hype, judgment, or just a lack of real guidance. But Farmer Strength is different. Joining FARMERSTRENGTH has been a challenge, but in the best way. It’s helped me build discipline and taught me to enjoy taking care of myself again. The environment pushes me to stay consistent, and I’m grateful for the progress I am making so far.

When I got pregnant in September 2023, I stopped working out and coming back to fitness postpartum felt overwhelming. I wasn’t new to the gym. Before pregnancy, I had experience, strength, and confidence. But when I tried returning, everything felt different. My body felt heavy, movements that used to come naturally suddenly felt impossible. It was like I had lost my ability altogether, and that really shook my self-esteem.
I tried the traditional gym route and even a bootcamp class, but I just felt invisible, like a number. I didn’t need someone to shout “good job” at the end. I needed someone to see me, to understand where I was coming from *physically and mentally* and help me rebuild.
That’s exactly what I found at Farmer Strength with Gareth. From day one, he created a space where I felt safe, supported, and seen. He understood the mental and emotional layers that come with postpartum fitness. He offered modifications when I needed them, but he didn’t let me stay in that comfort zone. Coach G is one of a kind! His positive energy just rubs off on you. He truly maximizes one-on-one training session... proper warm up and the stretching post-training is so vital! The bulk of the training is always challenging, but I'm always amazed how I got through it lol. He knows just when to push my capabilities without being intimidating. He gives me alternative exercises so I don't jeopardize my past injuries. He teaches great form/technique. I love how he encompasses the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of training. I love the idea behind FarmerStrength; the "functional" strength training and conditioning just makes sense to me. I have never felt any lower back issues post-training with Coach G. Learning about the Breathwork technique really helped me in and out of the gym. I signed up on January 2025 and I'm still as enthusiastic as the first day I walked into FarmerStrength gym. Highly recommend Coach G! He is such a phenomenal coach whether you're just starting on your fitness journey or a seasoned athlete. He's knowledgeable, energetic and always very positive.

Gareth is incredibly knowledgeable and motivating, and he pushes me beyond my limits to help me attain my fitness goals.
I recently experienced back pain and could barely walk. The doctors thought I may have a herniated disc.
Because of Gareths knowledge and passion to help people, I am pain-free! He has been working with me on strengthening my back, stretching, and the Breath and mobility classes are definitely a MUST! A truly amazing experience!
