IMBCT is an amazing gym with an excellent coach and great students. The head coach, Chris, is knowledgeable and is still trying to add to his skills. He's able to break down advanced concepts into simple ways so that even beginners can take advantage of his experience.

If you're looking to learn Martial Arts, self-defense, and get in shape then then the IMBCT is the place to go. Chris and the other instructors are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always surpass expectations for each class.

Chris's ability to take even the most difficult move/technique and break it down so each student can understand it makes the IMBCT a great place to train for beginner's or experienced Martial Artist's. You won't find another lifelong Martial Artist with the knowledge + experience that Chris has to offer. The gym atmosphere is one of the other great benefits. Everyone at the IMBCT is always willing to help each other out and push each other to get better each class. Highly Recommended!

I’ve been a part of the IMBCT family for going on three or four years now. Chris Smith and the students of this school of training are superb. Everyone has such an overwhelming knowledge of jiu jitsu, striking, MMA, and grappling. This only touches on Chris’ knowledge of martial arts which is a laundry list. Not to mention Chris is extremely proficient at every single martial art that he is able to teach at our school. Great people, amazing and friendly environment, tons and tons of respect. Amazing place for adults, children, and families. Come one and come all, we will be here open armed wanting to show you the way to your martial arts goals.

I have seen a high number of martial arts schools over the years from California to New York to Connecticut.. Whether your goal is to train self defense, train for competition or just get/stay in shape, the IMB Academy has a class and path for you. Chris’ knowledge and skills are second to none.
I personally enjoy more of the self defense path and find Chris’ teachings very applicable.
I also enjoy the camaraderie amongst the students in the class and the Chris’ ability to take very complex concepts and moves and break them down into bite sized more manageable nuggets of knowledge.
If you are on the fence I highly recommend trying a class or two out and see for yourself!

The IMBCT is a wonderful place to learn about martial arts, MMA and life. Chris and the other instructors are outstanding teachers and people. The best part of the week, for my daughters and I, is when we go to “fight gym” together. Try it, for your kids and / or yourself, you won’t regret it.

Christopher Smith is a World Class wealth of martial knowledge. I mean that in every sense of the term, and every sense you are wondering if I mean. He is far too humble to ever say that himself. Ground, standup, weapons, and all the surprising connective tissue in between that no one ever looks at. From my perspective, that is the crossroad that Chris decided to spend his life studying. Here's the surprising part, all that knowledge, and he's an excellent teacher on top of that.

The atmosphere he has kindled is highly sought after by those who know what they are looking for. Teammates who care, and push you hard. Coaches who have walked the road and came out the other end with knowledge and humility.

If you want to learn sports bjj, you can get that on every corner. If you ever wondered how it all fits together, come speak with the legend himself.

Great place to train - I was a little nervous to join at first, but everybody is extremely helpful and friendly. That said, they also know how to push you to push yourself! Chris is an excellent instructor and will happily answer any questions you could possibly have when training.

Great place to come and learn Martial Arts as well as get a workout in. No more running on the boring treadmill and wondering why nothing is working. This gym is a gym that changes your life. Chris gives you everything he's got. He doesn't just show up, show a few moves and bounce. He truly cares and wants people to walk away without any unanswered questions. All the guys and girls are respectful, honorable and hard workers.

Great people, great energy and the best instruction. The one thing that I wanted was a place to learn not beat on each other and this is that place. Instructor Christopher Smith is amazing from his knowledge and skill level. Not only does he have the teaching ability but he knows so many people and so much about Martial Arts that when you walk away from the gym you not only learned something new about Martial Arts but also about yourself.
