I've learned so much in the few months I have been going to this gym. There is an unparalleled amount of hands on, one on one with Coach Eddie and he is going to make you work. You better come to each class ready to get a workout in because I do not think I have burned this many calories in a single hour anywhere else. Not only are you getting a world class martial art education but you are also making friends in the Jompikad family.

When I embarked on my initial class I had no expectations other than I expected to learn and be exposed to something new. I had no idea of how exciting and fun it would be. Coach Eddie demonstrates a strong ability to explain the concepts while guiding you to push yourself in a positive way. Coach Eddie's passion and patience is evident throughout class. He carefully treats each student as an individual and shapes the learning to achieve success in a methodical manner that breeds success. I highly recommend Jompikad Muay Thai to anyone whether you want to learn martial arts or you want to do it for fitness, it's a great experience!

GREAT gym! Eddie has the rare combination of legit background/experience and a steady coach’s temperament – he’s got the ability to train kids and adults, beginners and experienced. I find him to be humble, focused, knowledgeable with the flexibility to adapt his teaching style to match the student(s) in front of him. A very inclusive, supportive spirit at this gym. Will be bringing my kids to train here as well. Highly recommend.

I came to Jompikad with a little background in Kickboxing/Kickboxing Conditioning. I wasn't sure what to expect, but decided to make the leap and I'm so glad that I did! Coach Eddie was so great at meeting me where I was in my technique and skill set. I've never felt intimidated, but encouraged to really push further into my conditioning. This is a great family to be a part of, AND we have so much fun growing and learning together!

Whether you are a total beginner looking for a great workout or a seasoned Muay Thai fighter, this is the place to be!! Coach Eddie is very dedicated to his students and a great teacher. It can be intimidating to walk into a martial arts gym for the first time (especially if you’ve never done Muay Thai or kickboxing before) but everyone here is very welcoming and supportive. I felt like a part of a family from day 1. The facility is easy to get to and very clean. I only wish I had found this gym sooner!!

My experience here was very bad. I attended a few classes here just under a year ago. Initially most people seemed nice in the few brief interactions I had with the students and instructor. One day however the sparring was out of control. Literally half the class decided to punch me in the head very hard multiple times and in one case several times. I've sparred dozens of other people prior to this event and no one to my knowledge has ever gotten mad or tried to intentionally injure me. The couple of other times I've been injured during a Muay Thai class I was either given a break or told to stop training for the day. My main complaint is that the instructor would not let me sit out from the sparring and he somehow expected me to complete another hour of class while extremely concussed. Originally I wasn't going to leave this review. However, the duration and severity of this concussion and neck injuries made me reconsider. I've had serious health problems ever since this and can no longer participate in any contact sport indefinitely. I will edit this review saying that you have a lot of nerve but can understand you wanting to protect your reputation. I had a concussion for months and I still have issues from my neck being twisted out of position. I was repeatedly punched in the back of the head/neck by someone screaming like a maniac. You don't need to lose consciousness to get a concussion.

I first joined this school 4 months ago along with my 5 year old daughter and husband. I was totally new to Muay Thai but did have a boxing background. Everyone I have encountered in the school has been truly friendly, welcoming and very patient towards me and my family nomatter how experienced they are. Members make genuine efforts to help newcomers like myself improve techniques if needed. Having said that, Coach Eddie is also amazing to work with due to the right balance of discipline and good humor when training. He is a perfectionist and very passionate about Muay Thai hence he motivates and challenges appropriately which I find hugely beneficial. I honestly feel I get a great and enjoyable work out. My exercise regime no longer feels like a burdensome chore as it previously did when I would attempt (but miserably fail) to attend fitness classes at a general gym. The flexibility of being able to opt for morning or evening classes is also helpful. I already feel stronger, healthier and more toned in just 3 months of attending. Thank you Coach Eddie!
I should add I personally have chosen not to spar as I don’t feel ready for that yet but that’s an individual choice that everyone in the school including the Coach respects.
Coach Eddie is amazing with kids too. He teaches the kids discipline in their classes
but also finds “fun” ways of training them. My daughter is a true Muay Thai fan and can’t get enough of Jompikad gym. My toddler is often attending classes with us and I appreciate how accommodating Coach and all the other members of the school are towards us.
I highly recommend this school.

I've been attending open-level classes for a couple weeks now, and have had nothing but good experiences. Coach Eddie Martinez is firm enough to encourage discipline among his students, and accommodating enough to inspire and motivate them. Technically knowledgeable and focused, he has taught me a great deal about the art in the limited time I've spent in his company. The facility is well equipped with heavy bags, communal thai pads, belly pads, shin guards, etc., as well as a comprehensive collection of gear, supplements, and branded clothing for sale. Classes are available to students of all levels. The fellow students I've trained with so far were warm and inviting--a great family atmosphere. Highly recommend, and look forward to continued training.

Stepping foot into Jompikad was my introduction to the art of Muay Thai and after finishing my very first class, taught by Coach Eddie, I was immediately hooked.
Under Eddie’s expert instruction, you quickly learn that this sport will require more discipline, concentration and stamina than you may have ever experienced before and he expects nothing less than 100% from his students. As a beginner of only 3 months, I not only have lost 20lbs, but have gained more discipline and confidence in areas both inside and outside the gym.
There are no egos and everyone is here to learn. Beginner classes are made up of students of various skill levels who are always willing to support and assist each other.
Training under an active, championship-winning fighter who also looks out for the well-being of their students is one of the greatest teachers you can ask for. If you are looking for an encouraging environment to learn an art that builds up both your mind AND body, look no further.

Jompikad is a professional Muay Thai experience. Eddie, who is the owner, head instructor and professional fighter has a rare talent of getting his students to the next level - whether you are an aspiring Muay Thai/MMA fighter or just trying to get back in shape and have some fun in the process. Eddie is also wonderful with kids and can naturally teach hard skills like self defense and soft skills like discipline, commitment and respect. Good outlook for this studio.

It is already a big plus when you can be trained by a professional Muay Thai fighter. An even bigger plus is the time and attention Eddie puts into his instruction, even into the most beginner of students, who probably doesn't even need such a high level instructor. My daughter (8) and I both go and we enjoy it thoroughly. Eddie is so attentive and will correct you immediately so you don't build bad habits. You can definitely tell he is passionate about the sport.

Great gym for getting results. A passionate traditional pro muay thai fighter that will make you a strong fighter and care enough to tell you the truth. A trainer that tells you the truth is rare ,since its easier to feed someone compliments then they wonder why they are not improving.

On occasion, a martial arts school may present an atmosphere of exclusivity that can easily ward off beginners.
Sitan Gym in Norwalk, however, is like meeting with a group of friends to train Muay Thai! All levels of students are welcome and each is met with courtesy and enthusiasm.
Coach Eddie Martinez is superb!
Sitan is a school that offers students a unique opportunity to train with and learn from Coach Eddie. A disciple of traditional Muay Thai and among the best Muay Thai fighters in country, Eddie shares his wealth of knowledge at Sitan.
Coach Eddie has been studying and training in the art of authentic Muay Thai for many years. In fact, Eddie regularly travels to Thailand and has very successfully competed against top Muay Thai fighters on the world stage!
I was referred to Sitan by a friend who assured me that Coach Eddie and Sitan would be THE place to learn/study traditional Muay Thai. After weeks of training I can reaffirm my friend's opinion that Sitan is "outstanding".
I am confident in referring others to Sitan and look forward to continuing my training under Coach Eddie Martinez.

My name is Noemie, I am a retire bodybuilder. I always has been into sports such as swimming, volley ball ect. After my bodybuilding career, I wanted to challenge myself is MMA. I found Muay Thai to be my favorite after boxing. I joined to UFC to specifically train to prepare myself to compete in Muay Thai. However, I was dissatisfied with the coaching and my progress in over 10 weeks. I have been at Sitan and found Eddie Martinez, amazing Muay Thai pro fighter. In less than 4 weeks I have improved my weakness in a great deal. My teammates are all supportive. Not only we learn traditional Muay Thai but we also learn discipline and self control. Muay Thai is a science and I believe our coach has all the tools to train anyone who wants to learn this Thai art. Eddie is an inspiration, I've saw him fight and teach 6 year old children. Not only he teaches his passion but he also passes on to future generation the beauty and discipline of the Muay Thai boxing. I recommend anyone to join. Come and enjoy a class.

I've been going to this gym for a while now and I have to say it was worth every penny. Every time I come in, Eddy always is happy to work with everyone and help us develop our technique. If you really want to understand, and you are willing to put in the effort, you'll see why its a great investment.

Elite Level instruction and a great atmosphere are the main reasons why I chose Sitan Gym.
I have been training at Sitan for 8 months and consider myself fortunate to have access to traditional Muay Thai training.
The Instructors:
What separates Sitan from other gyms is that you get to learn and train alongside active professional Championship contenders.
Head Coach Eddie Martinez possess a wealth of knowledge gained through his many years of training in Thailand. Additionally, assistant Coaches are always available to consult with questions.
Each class is structured to maintain a level of intensity that will help you grow both physically and mentally. Sitan also periodically offers seminars on advanced Muay Thai technique, nutrition, and strength/conditioning.
The Atmosphere:
You will not find egos at this gym. The coaching staff at Sitan foster a collaborative environment for students of all levels and abilities to learn.
The students are supportive of each other during technique drills and are always quick to motivate you to push through the workout. The Coaches instill respect for the art of Muay Thai, and respect for your fellow students. You can focus on refining your technique instead of having to worry about being injured by a careless student. Lastly, Coaches are able to tailor the instruction to your skill level in the event that you miss your designated time slot on the schedule.
In summary, if you are looking for a team environment where you can learn traditional Muay Thai from Elite level instructors, this is the place for you.

My son recently started training at Sitan Gym. I am very pleased with how much progress he has made in just a couple of weeks. In the short amount of time he’s been at this gym, he’s already learned more skills than he has at any of the other gyms he’s tried in the past. One of the main reasons for my son’s improvements can be attributed to the fact that coach Eddie and his staff actually teach, not just supervise. They correct my son whenever necessary and give him positive feedback when he does something well. Moreover, I am mostly pleased with the emphasis Coach Eddie puts on teaching discipline and how to focus—two skills that my son can apply not only in muay thai, but in the classroom and throughout his life as well.

This a first impression review.
I am 20 years of age.
Male.
Today, I decided to go in to Sitan Gym CT and try out a free introductory class they offer. I entered the one training room there is - which proved itself spacious and effective enough for training - and saw students and trainer assistants alike getting ready to train. I couldn't tell who was who at first though but it was no matter because as soon as someone took notice of me, I stated I was interested in taking the free intro. class and in no time I was sent on my way with no problems. The customer service is friendly and efficient, which made me feel like I was in good hands. The teacher assistant, Terry, as he was preparing some paperwork for me, even told me that they were going to have my back in there. An easy statement to say but it was still reassuring to say the least. After I gave in the paperwork your supposed to fill out (like your name, date of birth, contract signatures, and emergency contacts), I kind of sat on the side and continued to get ready for what I expect to be some good training. However, I sat on the side kind of not knowing what to do next once I was ready to do something, but it was fine because a student confronted me and recommended me to start stretching. I had already known that, duh; stretch to prepare for physical activities, but it was nice to get that push to get started, very thoughtful of him. Yet, the action of the student confronting me for the sake of aiding me, bettering me, didn't stop there. No it continued through the hour of training from others as well, and before I knew it that hour flew by. The ambience of this gym screams the quality of family, and I believe that's something everyone needs in the process of doing. And you know what it doesn't stop at the notion of family, Coach Eddie, who supervised the class training today, is a Champion Muay Thai fighter, with years of experience to my understanding. He is an active fighter who competes in tournaments, and he is also a bridge. He does training in Thailand, the motherland of Muay Thai, to aid him in his competition. Everything he has experienced over there, in his competitions, everything, is connected right back to Sitan Gym CT, hence why he is a bridge. Its really quite amazing to know the grade of knowledge I have given myself access to. I can predict that this gym is going to be a great place to nurture my technique and spirt because of the gym's ambience and the leadership Couch Eddie puts out. Right after my training hour was up, I sat there, and thought whether this was what I wanted. In no time however, I signed right up because I concluded how I had felt then, which is what I am writing now. I'm happy to say that I will be a part of the family as Terry had said while welcoming me to the gym after I had joined. Two thumbs up. : )

Complete lack of professionalism. Pretty decent Muay Thai, but doesn't trump how "Coach" Eddie behaves. He sexually harasses/hooks up with girls at the gym, right under his oblivious girlfriend's nose. Believe me...I know from experience. He tries to keep it quiet, but it's a weird atmosphere... Coach T is a nice guy, but a few good coaches don't make up for how Sitan Gym is run.
Also, I've been harassed by the gym (Carolyn B, the girlfriend) to take down this review, and they've threatened to report me to get it removed. So, that tells you another thing about this gym. Buyer beware.

Over 2 years and I am still taking classes 3-4 times a week at Sitan. The people are amazing, the workouts are amazing, but more importantly, the content is unbeatable. Coach Eddie actually teaches his students, he doesn't just yell drills at us. We are learning something new every day to keep it fresh, interesting and challenging. And the people - wow, these are the best group of people to train with - caring, loyal and always willing to help each other out. Sitan Gyms are known for being a true team and family and CT is no exception.

Fantastic Muay Thai gym. Coach Eddie and Coach T are great instructors, helpful and very professional. I've been going to Sitan for 4 months now and have learned more in those 4 months than I have in the last 6 years of training Muay Thai. Training is very authentic and similar to the style of training you would get in Thailand. If you want to improve on your technique in a friendly environment with likeminded people this is the place for you but if you are disrespectful and want to cause trouble, go elsewhere.

PERSONAL TRAINING AT SITAN
Christine Lewandowski
I started training with Christine last October when I signed up to run the New Jersey Marathon. My main goal was to have "guns" when I crossed the finished line, Christine has helped not only with the strength of my entire body, but conditioning me be a better athlete.
I have noticed over the last year my body has changed in size and strength, but I have also noticed I have self confidence and appreciation for weight training.
I have been running for the last 4 years but adding cross training to it has helped my endurance, I am able to run further and longer without breaks and have cut down on time on my races (shaved 27 minutes off Hartford Marathon), and I hope to have the same results this Sunday while I run the NYC Marathon.
Christine is really an inspiration to me and I am so glad I have her on my journey in and out of the gym

Best Muay Thai instruction in Connecticut. Friendly and challenging atmosphere. Great for all ages and skill levels from a novice to an aspiring fighter.
I've been doing Muay Thai for 5+ years and trained at camps like Sitsongpeenong, Jitti Gym, and Tiger Muay Thai. Trust me when I say that Sitan Gym CT is the closest you'll get to training in Thailand. Coach Eddie will push you beyond your limits while also teaching you the correct form and technique. I know for sure that I've improved vastly while being here and I'm always looking forward to the next class.

Coach Eddie creates an environment that welcomes people of all ages and abilities. Wish this gym was closer and didn't have to drive an hour and only being able to attend one class a week. Coach Eddie is world class not just as a fighter but as a coach as well. His critique is consistent, and constant. He will make sure you get it right before the day ends.He takes pride in what and how he teaches his students and have high, very high standards for himself and he expects that from his students as well. If you want the real thing, here it is. If you want to waste your time with some lazy trainer who doesn't really care about anything but your money, go somewhere else.

My family trained in muay thai in China and made a couple trips to Thailand for training in muay thai camps before moving to the area. We tried a "name brand" Gym which provided a good enough class - if all you want to do is sweat, but it became rote and unchallenging. We were thrilled to find Sitan!! If you're looking for authentic muay thai training, this is the place!
Coach Eddie is a pro who consistently challenges us every time. He is not a replaceable, cookie cutter "instructor", he is a COACH. No class is exactly the same and you cannot go on auto-pilot here. Sitan also has the atmosphere of a team. It's inclusive and the other people are welcoming and actually make eye contact and talk to you! You won't be just another impersonal number here.
We are motivated to do our best at Sitan and when training is over, we leave feeling alert, accomplished, and ALIVE. A great place to bond with your kids and/or control your stress while gaining an actual skill!

Worst. I ignored the reprimanding lectures and airing of frustration with the group's performance after the intense 60- 90 minute work outs, the arguments or fights AT his girlfriend in the back round to stick with learning Muay Thai at the only local place. Besides, “Coach Eddi” had kindly given me a good deal so I could continue and he pushed a strong work out creating physical endurance.I saw maybe I'd never be able to keep up with his work outs (lungs and work schedule), so out of concern for his patience and my experience, I proposed that I concentrate on skill rather than force, even though physical endurance is a huge part of self-defense. Yet, still, the concentration was on endurance. Being new to Muay Thai, and curious to get acquainted with what styles and skill existed - I found 2 other trail classes (farther away) where I got more detailed and encouraging instruction. The next week, after class “Coach Eddy” pulled me aside. ”It has come to my attention..” the mad rant began....that I had not taken a trail class but actually joined the gym to regularly train with them, betraying him because I was HIS “trainee” to fight one day (really?) and said “I want my money” including that he didn’t “want to hear anything back”. When the one sided heated argument was done I was 2 feet shorter, dumbfounded I said sorry. I didn’t want to owe anyone or change locations, so I took the last of my money and paid him in full. After some time to cool off I called to see if we could nicely discuss our perceptions of the class so that we could clear the air… which was refuted with force. He did eventually lower some of the standards in his work out which allowed me to be able to learn more skill. Yet ugliness continued. Next, when told to take a break in class and sit down - he then shouted over in an accusatory tone; “what are you doing”!?! I was sitting in a chair next to his desk and the water, so I suppose I was stealing or sabotaging his desk? A week later I got a text saying I needed to call him immediately. This time I told him to text the problem instead. He refused except that; it was regarding “disrespect in regard to the ladies locker room”. Of all the funny images I could come up with as to what, I also realized I hadn’t even pee'd there that last class but changed in the adjoining room. The point is; I suspect he could not confront directly and resorted to other methods to take out personal frustrations or disagreements. And -I think this guy has issues and drama, possibly severe emotional ones he is bringing into his classes that might account for why they are small and there is a good chance that if he cant fight you on his mat he will find another way.
