Ayurvedic Consultation with Maggie is a must! Not only is it a perfect complement to any existing yoga practice, but these kind of diet and lifestyle adjustments changed my energy, sleep, mood...they were tailored to my dosha (which was identified in detail) and follow-ups helped with accountability and progress. Maggie is a gem and so wonderful to work with! She listens with patience, kindness, and heart.

I want to update my post of two years ago. I have continued with Journey of Yoga, and I continue to make progress on my mobility. I am glad to say that pain in my hips has stopped and I sense it is my yoga practice that did it. I was practicing with just one instructor, but my work schedule changed. I have expanded the teachers I work with, and each one has a unique and effective way to keep this old guy flexible and mobile.
I am grateful for the instructors here. I started with them just about a year ago, and I no longer have pain in my hips and shoulder. They treat every student as an individual. That is good, as I am not as flexible as most, and even less experienced in yoga. The ability to do sessions online is a real boon - not just because of the virus but for the time saved in staying home. For in studio classes, you can be assured the team holds strictly to protocols.

Journey of Yoga (JOY) is a very special place on this planet. The physical space is bright, roomy, modern and inviting. Owner Maggie is a wonderful person who sets a very appealing vibe for the studio, providing excellent yoga instruction and guidance for mindfulness. All of the instructors are top notch, each bringing their unique perspective and considerable experience to their classes. I practiced yoga at JOY for several years while in Simsbury and am fortunate to be able to continue to practice virtually at JOY remotely after moving our of state. JOY also leads with a great sense of social responsibility, giving back to the local community as part of the studio's culture. I highly recommend Journey of Yoga to those at all levels of ability and for anyone interested in a program for yoga teacher training as well.

This is definitely one of the best yoga studios I have attended. I have found the teachers to be excellent and I feel like my practice has been significantly improved by their interventions. Furthermore, the whole feel of the studio is extremely friendly, fun, unpretentious. I hope to be attending classes here for a long time to come!

Do Thai yoga with Julie!! I had never experienced it before and would do it in place of massage. She is so strong and holds you in stretches releasing tension. She also practiced Reiki on me and I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. Perfect for my mind and soul.

Classes with Maggie, Todd and Julie have been phenomenal (as of yet, I have not had the pleasure of class with any other instructors). Massage with Todd...incredible. He is extremely intuitive/knowledgeable. Its a blessing to have discovered Journey of Yoga.

After 10 years away from practicing Yoga, it was a gift to find Journey of Yoga when we moved to Simsbury! The "Discovery Pass" offered to newcomers helped me find the right type of class, and Maggie & her wonderful group of teachers have been warm & welcoming, making my return to Yoga a lovely experience. What a joy to have found JoY!

So nice to be back taking in “person classes” - this studio Space is lovely - the teachers are great - something for everyone - in this last week I have taken Vinyassa classes and Yin and loved all❤️(Classes were “hybrid” so still ok to stay home!)

Journey of Yoga has been one of the main reasons I have maintained good flexibility and a generally healthy body at age 75. I believe that yoga has slowed degeneration in an arthritic back, keeping my discomfort minimal. Maggie and other other yoga instructors have helped me focus on modifications for injured shoulders so that I can continue to enjoy yoga practice and maintain good range of motion. . Instructors are truly professional and caring. There is never any judgment or push to perform. Options and support for poses are always offered. Hands on (or eyes on, in the case of zoom) adjustments are shared to help achieve a more productive pose. One's personal "journey" on yoga is always honored, no matter where it lies.
The Journey of Yoga staff persevered with the challenges of technology and outreach during the pandemic to provide online classes through zoom and then slowly and safely brought classes and services back into the studio. They remained positive and hopeful throughout the shut down. The studio is warm, welcoming and always cheerful. The Journey of Yoga experience, whether in studio or online, has always been the highlight of my day.

A friend suggested that I try yoga for stress reduction, so I decided to try Journey of Yoga (JOY). I began with gentle classes and now take a mix of gentle and vinyasa classes. Love the teachers and the entire community. They also offer yoga for osteoporosis classes. I have learned so much about grounding myself, and have gotten physically stronger and more flexible!

When I first walked through the doors of Journey of Yoga three years ago, I felt filled with a sense of having come home. I absolutely adore all of the teachers, the physical space, and even the magic they have created in our primarily virtual world. I take classes regularly and I have also joined their massage membership, which has contributed greatly to my overall health and well-being. They also have a wonderful little boutique section. In addition to a full offering of weekly classes, JOY also hosts workshops and retreats that I always love attending. I feel so grateful to have this beautiful studio here in Connecticut!

I've been attending regular classes at Journey of Yoga since 2014. The teachers are masterful in creating engaging sessions including poses with kind suggestions for adjustments, breath work, mindfulness, intention setting, and meditations which carry through to my world outside. The Joy community is welcoming and somehow, even virtually, I feel like I am in the room. Many thanks for finding a way to continue classes via zoom!

The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. There are a variety of classes you can take, whether you’re looking for a slow flow that can be challenging at times to a practice focusing on your bones and how to prevent/manage osteoporosis. There even more challenging classes if that’s what you’re looking for. And, the use of blocks, blankets and straps is encouraged as a way to get deeper or less deep into the poses. Safety is also strongly encouraged at this studio which is something I love. There is alot of “do what feels good for your body and back out of what doesn’t.” There’s a real community of ppl who care here. The studio has also made it easy to maintain my yoga practice even during this terrible pandemic by offering all of these classes i mentioned above on Zoom. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to begin or grow their yoga practice.

Journey of Yoga has wonderful yoga classes.
I do the 9 am class six days a week and it really helps me to stay in shape physically and mentally.
The teachers are excellent, pay attention to the needs of the students and give us a good variety of poses.
And I find it very nice to be able to do the classes remotely via zoom.

Journey of Yoga has taken me from hesitant beginner to serious devotee of yoga. Every teacher is eager to modify, whether you have an injury or a desire for something more challenging. I have tried yoga classes in many different places over the past 30 years, and Journey of Yoga is the only place I feel genuinely welcomed and nurtured.

I look forward to coming to yoga classes because JOY is a community of wonderful people, amazing, caring teachers and yogis of all levels. Thank you Maggie and Todd for keeping us balanced - pun intended - during these very difficult times. Thank you for the fun popular practices outdoors on the old Flower Bridge. I would highly recommend this studio.

I just finished 200 hour yoga teacher training here and have gotten to know the studio very well. All the teachers are very talented, all in their own ways and high quality. The yoga teacher training was intense but first rate! I first attended a class after putting in my name for a drawing at a Farmington Trail Event at the Simsbury Public Library. I got more involved last year when I went to Italy; a trip organized by the studio and then yoga teacher training this year!

I've been a long time student at Journey of Yoga (JOY) in Simsbury. I love the facility and teachers who are always the best around. I needed to feel connected during COVID and there were plenty of Zoom classes and levels to choose from. Can't say enough good things about JOY and one of my favorite teachers, JoAnn!

I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years, and I am very particular about the yoga classes I take. After my beloved yoga studio closed, I tried classes at several different studios and did not connect with any of them. Then I found Journey of Yoga, and knew I had found my new kula. Journey of Yoga provides a compassionate, non-competitive environment for all levels of practitioners. JOY offers a range of classes, including gentle, yin, slow flow and mixed level hatha classes. All of the teachers I've practice with have been excellent. I cannot recommend Journey of Yoga strongly enough. It is the best yoga studio in the Valley.

The best yoga instructors are the ones with which you feel an easy and affable connection, while also feeling confident that they know how to keep you correctly aligned and safe within each pose. Every instructor at JOY fits that description.
My first experience with JOY was during their 2019 Summer Solstice event. Several instructors were on site to teach and assist in the teaching, and each one clearly knew their stuff in regards to correct alignment, sensations, tips, modifications, and alternate pose options for each pose. They were also very welcoming and friendly.
Since then I've taken many asana classes at JOY and I've also taken and graduated their 200 hour yoga teacher training program. The training program, and every class I take, always lives up to that first experience I had - each instructor is knowledgeable and such a pleasure to be around.

I appreciate the way Journey of Yoga accommodates our needs with a variety of ways to continue our practice - live (safe) classes, virtual classes and pop up outdoor classes when the weather is nice. Their wellness services are operating now, too. I am able to continue my self-care with regular massage therapy in a safe and clean environment. Way to go Journey of Yoga!

Started taking yoga classes at JOY. Julie’s Gentle with Yin at 9:15 Monday is amazing. Her assists opened up parts of my body I never knew could open. It was an incredible relaxing class and my body never felt so good as when I walked out. I can’t wait to try her Yin with Thai Yoga on Tuesday nights.
Melinda’s Yin class on Sunday was equally amazing. I love the 4:15 time and what a wonderful way to completely relax. I wish they had Yin classes every night.
I also took Maggie’s Vinyasa flow on Sat at 9. Maggie is very knowledgeable and she runs the class so it is accessible to all levels but challenging to those who want be pushed. Her knowledge of anatomy Is clear and helps students prevent injuries by teaching the correct alignment and explaining the dangers of doing the pose incorrectly.
I look forward to more classes at JOY.

I highly recommend Journey of Yoga to anyone looking to begin or expand their practice. I started my yoga journey with this studio over a year ago and it has been a joyful and life-changing experience. Like others, I began with the 30 day pass and I am now a regular in the studio. The teachers are experienced and care deeply about supporting you on your journey. They each bring a unique personality and energy to the room. And the community is wonderfully welcoming and affirming. Come join us!

I was new to yoga when I decided to try one month of yoga at Journey of Yoga shortly before I retired from work. I was able to take on this new endeavor at an older age because the instructors are so well trained and encouraging. They walk around the room and help us, suggest modifications when necessary, and teach us how to make adjustments. The gentle classes and yin/yang are perfect for me but I have also tried slow flow. I'm so glad that I've gone on this journey.
