Never wrote a review about Newington LAFitness. Now that it’s permanently closing I regret not writing any praises . I always took this place for granted. The monthly fee is very reasonable. This place is decent at best and consistently going down hill.
Bad: Machines broken for months, the entire place smells like weed all the time, it might as well be called LA Dispensary, kid have been seen running around the place and staff (if even present) do not address anything. People just walk in without scanning in or get let into the back exit of the basketball court, they are always running out of cleaning wipes. Sauna does not get very hot. No management or employees present.
Good: decent equipment, sauna and pool. Plenty of cardio equipment.

I’ve been coming to LA Fitness for about 12 years. The classes are great and offer a variety of exercise classes. The pool is great with four lanes for lap swim and Aqua Fit Class. They also have a great hot tub and an awesome sauna in both male and female locker rooms. There are also racquetball courts and a basketball court and a small exercise room and a small area for private instruction. No other gym compares to this one around here The staff instructors are friendly and motivating.

I was very frustrated with some sort of discrepancy going on in my account and im a very busy person so im highly unable to stop in at the moment and its hard to make a call due to time sensitive events. I've been a member of LA Fitness for a while now, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. With the closure of the Farmington branch, the West Hartford Esports gym has become overcrowded. It's frustrating trying to use the pool or navigate through the crowds just to use the equipment.I decided to try the Berlin Turnpike location, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it was no different. The pool is consistently closed, the jacuzzi is filled with so much bleach that it burns your eyes, and the sauna has been out of order for two weeks now. It's frustrating to pay for a membership and not be able to fully utilize the amenities.What's even more frustrating is the lack of communication from the staff. Every time I inquire about when these issues will be fixed, they can't give me a clear answer or timeline. It's disheartening to see such neglect of member concerns.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend LA Fitness based on my recent experiences. Hopefully, they can address these issues and improve the gym for their members.

I've been quite impressed with the facilities and equipment available. The variety of workout options is fantastic, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. However, one area that could use some improvement is the lighting inside the gym. It often feels dim, especially in certain corners or during evening workouts. Brighter lighting would not only enhance the overall atmosphere but also make it easier to see and navigate while exercising.

LA Fitness is growing old. It has an excellent selection of free weights and cable machines. Fitness classes like yoga and spin bike classes are good quality. But there is no modern equipment and the treadmills and stairmasters are often in need of repairs or so run down they are a concern. The pool is an excellent benefit because I swim laps and the senior water fitness is popular. But the hot tub is often under repair. And the pool chemistry goes from correct to chemistry off every few weeks. It's better recently. The club canceled paper towels in the gym which is strange during a post Covid world. They tried to use a wet sticky wipes for cleaning equipment but those wipes just smear sweat, not clean it. My advice bring your own paper towels and two small hand towels to wipe equipment off yourself. The club does not replace weights people steal so many smaller Fitness weights are missing in the 5 to 12 pound range

I love LA Fitness! I enjoy the Zumba and the ab workout classes, the workout equipment, sauna and pool. The shower is better than the one I have in my apartment- heavy water and great temperature. The lockers are HUGE- I can fit so much in it including my big gym bag. It is clean and I love the benefit of having guest privilege with my membership. With the LA Fitness membership, I can go to Esporta Fitness which is great in case I want to go a a Zumba class I missed at one location or if I am at another city farther from my local gym, I have options. It is one of the gyms that has everything in one for a great membership price. This gym is my getaway and I say it’s like dating myself when I go by myself or if I bring guests for Zumba, it’s like going to a fun and healthy party. I have made great friends at LA Fitness. I hope Esporta/LA Fitness does not keep closing locations in Connecticut. The front desk staff and sales staff are super friendly and patient, always ready to assist current and potential new members. I highly recommend trying this gym as a guest first and I am sure you will love it enough to get a membership.- Nadine Boudissa

Recently, management has set new hours for the basketball court, which closes this section of the gym at 5 PM (Monday-Friday). This change makes the basketball facility inaccessible for the members who visit this LA Fitness location in the evenings. No explanation has been offered to members as to why this change was implemented and as a member of this gym for 2+ years, I am appalled by the way that this change was implemented. Not only is it unfair for paying members to be denied access to a portion of the gym during normal business hours, but the lack of communication and manner in which the closure is enforced is very unsettling.

I’ve been a member here since 2012. I left and made Bristol La Fitness my home gym in 2019 because it had newer equipment, it was cleaner, and less congested. However, Bristol permanently closed recently and I’m back in Newington since Farmington is too crowded. Nothing has changed. They need to update some of their equipment and make sure there are wipes to clean off the machines after use. The summers can be very hot inside too. And lastly, if you’re a pool/jacuzzi person they are shut down quite often. Ok gym but could be so much better.
