Love this gym. Continuously clean, if something breaks - they communicate and fix it. Large enough to not get too busy to disrupt your workout flow.

Only complaint - this guy. 4-6 days a week he takes up 3 pieces of equipment for 2 hours doing the exact same exercise. Two 80lb barbells to hold the weights he can’t lift properly - the bicep machine to hold his tripod and the Tricep machine so he can do film review between his 20 min per set exercises.

Constantly dropping the weights he can’t control and them rolling into other peoples areas - the way he films - half the gym is being recorded whether they like it or not. How do employees walk by and just let this go on?

It will probably stop once he injures someone

I will preface this review by saying that the facility itself is nice and large, spacious and with tons of good equipment.
Also the staff is very friendly and tries to be helpful.
However, if you are interested in using the pool and/or whirlpool here, you will probably be very disappointed and aggravated. It's obvious they skimp on maintenance for them, as they are closed/out of operation half the time.
I joined this gym when it first opened about 15 years ago, mostly because I like to swim. If another gym a reasonable distance from my home opened up, I would leave this gym in a second.

Update (1.20.24)...the pool and whirlpool are STILL closed, having been closed for about a month now. Total joke.

Update/2 (11.1.25)...once again the pool has been closed for about 2 weeks. They just don't put any money or effort into maintaining the pool and whirlpool here, as they are often out of order/closed. Bottom line, if you are joining a gym with the intent of swimming as one of your exercises, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere as you will be really aggravated and disappointed with this place.

Update/3 (11.16.25)...pool STILL closed. When you ask about when it will open, all you get is rambling BS...just a pathetic joke at this point.

Its not good and its not bad. Resembles a YMCA from the 70’s with the equipment. Half the gym is either completely disorganized and the other half looks like the staff havent even acknowledged its existence in decades. Overall huge waste of money for an LA fitness membership which we all know isnt cheap. Owner should seriously consider remodeling the entire place and hiring new staff to make this even resemble something acceptable to spend money on.

The employees (Mike especially) are helpful with membership and being reasonable to get good deals. The actual gym itself is middle of the road, most machines you’d need are there but they break more often than you’d want and dont get fixed for months at a time. There aren’t many competing gyms in the area so you can’t really go elsewhere unfortunately

Please do not join this gym. They have been closed for several days now because of a hot water heater issue. Several issues have occurred in the past for various as well that result in them closing for several days at a time. They never refund your money or offer to do anything to make it right. POOL is continually dirty today I went swimming with goggles and the pool was so foggy couldn’t barely see the bottom even with my goggles. There were large black stringy floaters in the water absolutely disgusting water quality. The temperature was great, but the water was filthy and I’m always afraid I’m gonna catch some bacterial infection on the water there.

You are getting what you’re paying for here. LA fitness presents itself as a the average of what you will find in the gym world. The equipment is large in volume, but small and variety. For the most part, the equipment is repaired and fixed, but the bathroom is severely lacking, constantly dirty, and the showers could definitely use an upgrade.

In comparison to other LA fitness gyms I have been to I would rank this an average 5/10.

If you are looking to join LA fitness be aware that to cancel your membership you will need to submit a hardcopy resignation between the hours of 8 AM to 5 PM. Like most people I work during those hours so it’s a little ridiculous.

This was my first time in Connecticut. I tried the Stamford location first but left due to difficulty parking plus the facility was not very clean. I walked in walked around for a minute seeing multiple out of commission machines and left. I found this location 35 minutes from where I'm staying in CT. Much cleaner, all working machines, much easier and free parking. I prefer to drive an extra 20 minutes to go to this location.

Good afternoon, The staff at the entrance was very friendly, the cleaning was good, the gym was beautiful and large, only in the way they didn't explain that there is a contract with the class trainer. They don't mention that you have 8 days to cancel without paying any fine, and then you have a penalty of paying $1,531.44 just for canceling. I said try for 1 month or 3 months, they never told me it was a contract, it's a big lack of being professional.
