I never was a person who enjoyed the gym, but my health had taken a turn for the worse when diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which required a high dosage of steroids. I had gained so much weight that it caused me isolation in my depression for a while. I knew I couldn't do it alone and I needed some genuine motivation. After meeting with the fitness Director Eugene Gallagher, I felt very inspired to start fresh, although hesitant at first to exercise in such a public place, his passion is contagious! Update November 2025: I hate to change my review on my home gym I love, but the fitness manager Eugene is giving the entire gym a bad name. He’s constantly staring at my friend and I as we workout and as we enter and exit the gym. He used to YELL hello from his desk off to the side as soon as I entered and I ignored him as it made me very uncomfortable the minute I walked in the door, and he loudly scoffed when I didn’t acknowledge his obnoxious behavior. I’m always pleasant to the lovely front desk staff but I prefer not to be yelled at by a complete stranger upon entering.
Ever since he’s been constantly staring at us and walking nearby as we workout, it’s such creepy behavior and I know other women in the gym are also uncomfortable by him. Corporate needs to step in please, it’s very uncomfortable to have an arrogant pervert walking around the gym floor, I wouldn’t think this is the type of person LA Fitness would like to employ.

After working in LA Fitness in Georgia I was hoping that I would get hired/transferred over in Milford CT. when I went in person the front desk boy said they were not looking for anyone but left my details just in case, the same front desk boy called me and said that they were looking for some to fill the position but seemed reluctant when he realized it was me, i did an interview only for me to call back 2 weeks later to find out they transfered someone over from another branch to fill the position.

After giving birth, I went into LA Fitness in person to cancel my membership. The employee I spoke with assured me that my membership was canceled and I would get a email confirmation — I trusted their word but never really followed up on email . Months later, I found out they had continued charging my card for 18 months despite what j was told .
I feel completely lied to and taken advantage of. When I reached out to fix the issue, no one took real responsibility or offered any genuine help. It’s disappointing and unethical to treat customers this way, especially after being told something was taken care of.
If you ever decide to cancel your membership, get everything in writing and watch your bank statements closely. I’ll never return to LA Fitness after this experience. ALL A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS ! Cooperate & employees/managers alike .

Sat down with the manager and he was able to give me great information about a membership plan within my budget. Very reasonable and affordable; and most of all was very friendly. I was visiting Connecticut recently as I’m planning to move to the area soon, and I signed up for the 3-day trial pass to check out the gym. While the facility itself was great, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by an employee named Naeomy, who was extremely passive-aggressive, not just toward me, but also towards the other employees.

Because of that interaction, I’ve decided not to move forward with a membership after my move. If I were the manager, I wouldn’t want someone with that attitude representing my business. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere that left a very negative impression.

Ive been training here for 3+ years now. I just dont understand how a broken machine can be "scheduled for maintenance" for 3 months. Especially when its THE ONLY MACHINE OF ITS KIND IN THE WHOLE GYM. It's seriously frustrating. It doesnt take 3 months to replace a broken cable! But hey, as long as those subsciption payments keep coming in, right? I will add a photo of the machines "scheduled for maintenance", and add a new photo every month it is not repaired. Simply ridiculous.

Came in as somebody’s vip guest at this gym and got signed up for an actual membership instead , I was told to cancel the membership before the 3 free day trial was over to avoid any charges for the misunderstanding , which I did but The manager Amanda in this gym is just terrible. Nasty attitude and brushed me off when I came to talk to her about canceling the membership, Said she cancelled it and took care of it without even asking for my name to than a few days later STILL get charged $190 for the membership she didn't bother canceling . I called several times to speak with her and she refused to call me back. Coming from the manager herself this was really a frustrating experience . Will never go work out in this location again .

I did a trial at this location in Stratford a few weeks ago. The men's locker room smells like a truck stop bathroom that's never been cleaned; literally made me gag, absolutely disgusting. Nobody wipes down the equipment and nothing is ever put back--dumbbells missing, etc. Worst gym I've ever been to. It's too bad, its the closest gym to my house but it's terrible.

The customer service from management has been super poor. I have tried to reach a manager at this location for over a week and I have not been contacted as I had requested. It is amazing how they are so eager to get you signed up and when you are a prospective member they bug the heck out of you, but once you are signed up and then you need something you cannot get in touch with anyone. It is very disappointing. I am giving two stars because the club itself is nice, but this has really soured my experience of being a member.

Two years! My husband and I are proud to say that we have been working out at this gym for two years. As we were not gym people, it is truly amazing There is a very special energy at this gym And we love it. Like any gym, there are some incredibly fit people who make it all look easy. Then there are people of all ages, sizes, and shapes. All are welcome and supported.

For me, personal training with Nick has been a highlite. Not only have I learned safe ways to make my body stronger without injury, he also surprises me with new things to do to help keep it fresh And keep me coming back. On days where I have a sore knee or a sore back, He can instantly come up with alternative ways to exercise that don’t aggravate my pain. I am never afraid to work with him. He keeps me motivated and coming back week after week. Sometimes we work on the machines, sometimes on the turf, sometimes with free weights, and sometimes with the TRX. I haven’t gotten any younger, but I am definitely a lot stronger,, more fit, and proud of all that he has helped me learn to do. I think of him every time I go up and down the stairs without difficulty Or carry a heavy object that I would not have even been able to lift two years ago.He uses some traditional techniques and also everything that I read about exercise science Is already familiar to him. He is willing to adapt to my preferences and abilities, and also push me at the same time. I work out without him too, Informed by all that he has taught me. I’m a convert to personal training for life now!

I know I need to work out, but it’s easy to avoid it. And that wasn’t good. So I went to LA Fitness and asked for a trainer. Nick fit the bill perfectly. He had already worked with my wife and she was happy with her experience. I needed a different approach. I lacked motivation to come in and didn’t really know what exercises my body needed (I have a torn Achilles, neuropathy and I’m retired.)
Nick was a marine in an earlier life and he convinced me that most of this is mental. So we talked about the link between body and mind a lot. He encouraged me to not just make it to sessions but to incorporate this kind of exercise into my daily routine.
Nick knows when to push and when to back off and encourage. He follows the rhythm of my body’s ability to focus, stretch, and push with little nuggets of trainer wisdom. And when I just can’t, he gives me something that I can do. He makes a connection with you so you don’t want to miss sessions.
Overall, I’d happily recommend Nick as a trainer. He has been a critical component in my increasing strength and health. Thanks Nick!
