Our daughter has been attending New England Rendokan in Rocky Hill since August 2020, and we’ve seen such meaningful growth in her — especially in her level of confidence and focus. She’s now an advanced green belt that continues learning and progressing in her training.

This family owned school is run by Sensei Darryl and his daughter, Sensei Sam, and you can truly feel the family atmosphere they’ve created. Their passion, patience, and dedication have created a respectful, structured, and supportive environment. My son has been a part of this group for many years and just earned his first degree black belt. There are great people that work here and my son has enjoyed it immensely! Not only have they helped him earn his first degree black belt, but they have also taught him life skills, confidence, discipline and so much more. I highly recommend!

Best martial arts school in Connecticut. I searched for years to find a school that teaches traditional Okinawa Karate that focuses not just on self defense but on how to be a better person. That search ended when I found New England Rendokan in 2017. All three of my kids trained here and one has become an instructor with the school. I also started taking classes back then and still do. The school will train both kids and adults at their pace and adapts to whatever the student’s needs are. I’ve seen students of all ages here, preschool through senior citizens, and every one of those students are better for training here. Whether you’re looking to learn self defense or just be in better shape, this school will meet your needs. I can’t say enough about the experience we’ve had at New England Rendokan.

My son has been going to New England Rendokan for almost 5 years now. It’s been a great experience for him and has really helped with his focus, coordination, and balance. He is getting exercise and learning practical skills in a fun, informative environment. The instructors are awesome, very knowledgeable and patient, and invested in him and his progress and helping him succeed. Bonus - Sensei Darryl trained personally with the past head of this karate style (shorin ryu) in Okinawa so it’s also great knowing that what my son is learning is authentic and in the direct lineage of this style. Would recommend giving this dojo a try if you were looking to get your family into martial arts!
