I am so thankful for Master Heny's Taekwondo program. She is such an incredible presence in our town and brings so much to the community and her students. What impresses me most is observing how seamlessly she directs each class, adjusting approach/response/level of challenge and support for each student, so everyone has the opportunity to grow. From the youngest and shy little tigers up through the most driven and advancing adult, there is so much to take in from this program. Master Heny shows great tact and patience while still driving each class with clear control. My son has been in the program now for 1.5 years and his personal growth, focus, and perseverence through each new practice or challenge has been transforming. This is the perfect experience and challenge that lets him build up his strength and agility, and Master Heny's unique mastery of teaching/training her students has also made him (and so many other students) shine. I can't wait to see where things go through the next level.

I would highly recommend WCT Newtown for anyone in the area! Master Heny coached my two kids at the Amity location for almost a decade before opening her studio in Newtown. Master Heny is the absolute best coach there is and she will always have a special place in my heart. She has been instrumental in my kids taekwondo skill and personal development. She is a stellar role model, a passionate coach, and a good person, which radiates and transcends to the athletes. I agree with all the other excellent reviews. She is amazing with kids and cultivates a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment. She challenges appropriately to do their personal best. She teaches good sportsmanship - how to succeed humbly and gracefully, how to pick yourself up and persevere when faced with challenge and missteps, and how to be a good mentor to others. For any child interested in the competitive track, she raises the bar to help athletes prepare and do their best in the competitive arena, as she did with my daughter who was passionate about competitive traveling taekwondo. Even in the competitive track, she maintains the most important values of leading life with respect, kindness, perseverance, good sportsmanship, and trying your personal best. Thank you Master Heny! My son started Taekwondo out of state, we moved to Newtown and could not find any Dojangs. We ended up finding one locally that worked, but not like this one.

As soon as he finished his trial class, he could not WAIT to go back.
He immediately asked when his next class was. I knew we found his new Dojang and most importantly his new Master.

It is clear that Master Heny takes what she does very seriously, but not too serious that he did not want to return. She is a clear leader.

He looks forward to going for every class and it's never a task.

I can see him building confidence and discipline while learning respect. All while he's keeping up his fitness and learning a valuable skill in Taekwondo.

Im not much of a review guy but my wife and I cannot say enough good things about Master Heny and World Champion Taekwondo. Master Heny is an excellent teacher and an incredible role model. After several years, my 7-year old earned his black belt. Now, at 9, he has begun helping the master to teach children's classes. One of the best studios I've seen, especially for learning forms.

The skill to break forms into smaller pieces, to learn, and then combine together for a complete form has helped him to learn other activities such as golf, swimming and more. It has taught him patience and perseverance... traits I could never teach him adequately.

For some reason, taekwondo just clicked, and this studio has a lot to do with it.
