I know this is going to sound so silly, but Planet Fitness absolutely made my day. When I walked in, I realized I had forgotten a hair tie (rookie mistake!). I asked the front desk if they had a spare hair tie or even just a rubber band, and they told me they didn’t. No big deal — I headed off to start my workout anyway.

A few minutes later, the lady employee (I wish I got her name) came up to me with a hair tie in hand. She had actually gone out of her way to find one for me. It was such a tiny thing, but it meant so much more than that. That small act of kindness completely lifted my mood and made my whole day brighter.

It’s little moments like these that show how much the staff truly cares. Thank you for turning something small into something so genuinely meaningful. 💜

I should be giving 0 stars. I had a membership for over 2 years and I cancelled in April. I sent the email and even had an associate verify and believed my membership was cancelled. They were still charging me and I didn’t notice until October. I got and talk to a manger named Tim who is not helpful at all. He said he would call me with an update with his boss and never does. He said he will attach my name to emails with his boss and he never did. What is happening? They have no phone number so I can’t even get in touch with anyone. My refund is literally chump change to you guys and I can’t even get that back? Outrageous, I’ve been going through this for a month now and have gotten nowhere with them. 0/10 recommend to nobody.

I've not been into this facility in several years. (However, I continued paying for my membership, hoping I'd go back. And now I am!) I don't see that any major layout changes have occurred. It's still a comfortable place to be. The staff is just as friendly + helpful as ever.

UPDATE - 10/30/25 - This location has been trying to give itself a facelift for months. However, the contractors they've hired don't seem to be in any rush to get things done. One example is the ladies' room. It's been literally MONTHS since the contractors started on it + have yet to finish it. Despite such nonsense, I love this facility!

Your "renovation" is taking months. The place is a mess. How can you have "stop work" orders. The permits should have been in place before work started. No one seems to know who actually runs this location or who the owner is. Today is my last visit. I'll be moving to Brewster location.

Dear Planet Fitness Team,

I’ve been a member for a while and have always appreciated the welcoming and clean environment your gyms are known for. However, I’ve recently noticed a few issues at my location that I feel need attention.

The bathrooms have not been properly cleaned and often have an unsanitary odor. Several cleaning stations have non-functioning or empty paper towel dispensers, making it difficult to wipe down equipment after use.

Additionally, I was surprised to learn from a staff member that hand sanitizer will no longer be provided. Given the importance of hygiene—especially in a shared workout space—this seems like a step backward in maintaining a healthy environment for members.

I hope these concerns can be addressed promptly so the gym can continue to meet the standards that members like myself have come to expect.

Fantastic new location replete with seated plate loaded calf raises, hack squat, and quite a few smith machines. More cardio machines than I’ve ever seen in a Planet Fitness, mainly treadmills. This is also one of the coolest gyms I’ve ever been in temperature wise.

Here’s the most interesting things about this location outside of equipment. One — there are no locker rooms! Instead there are about twenty private bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms. I much prefer this to the usual big box gym setup. There are also plenty of lockers lining the main gym floor walls which is great for keeping an eye on your things. The second admittedly more novel feature of this location is that there are vending machines! Protein shakes from Muscle Milk, bars (including Barebells, delicious), and cookies galore in those things, not to mention the waters and electrolyte drinks. I think they might even have preworkout!

The staff is friendly, the place is spotless, and the equipment is brand spanking new. What’s not to like?

I have been coming to the Federal Road Planet Fitness for 3 years now and never have I been more happy with my experience than when Marlon became the manager. This guy is the first person in 3+ years to greet people by their names and actually get to know the people coming to the gym. I came here only one time and had the worst experience I’ve had at any planet. I am a black card holder (soon to cancel) and was treated with the worst experience ever!!! Both the manager MARLON ➕️ one of the Associates CAMILA were both OUTSTANDING & VERY NICE/ACCOMODATING as they made me feel as extremely comfortable as I could be as a Transgender Female at the Danbury Club. I learned an expensive lesson from this business.
This business as a whole and company does not care about their customers, they care about money and that’s it!
This company charged me a late fee on top of my annual renewal fee, because they entered my information that is on file incorrectly. Yet, my monthly payments were always paid on time with the same information they have on file.
When I found out that it was their mistake, I quickly notified them. The first sign of trouble was that “Marlon” the manager refused to talk to me after my many attempts to reach him, and he never returned my calls!
I gave Marlon every opportunity to make a wrong, right and he did absolutely nothing about it.
I canceled my membership solely based on how I was ignored and mistreated due to their negligence. They have yet to respond or refund me the late fee due to their mistake!
If this reaches anyone, know your value, invest in local private gyms, and support your community this way! These corporate companies don’t value you, they just want your money!

I have been a member for over 2 years at this Federal Rd location. This place has been there for over 10 years. The interior is dated. They did a renovation in 2024, but things only improved a bit. The TV channel and sound upstairs never work properly. The ladies' locker room is worn out. There is only one changing room for the ladies. They tried the best cleaning things but they can only do so much. If you have other choices, join other PF instead of this one.

Well I wanted to file a complaint but I cant seem to find a way to do so, so I guess I'll post publicly.

The gym is mostly fine, though some of the machines are of mixed quality.
More pressingly however, the cleanliness, most notably in the mens locker room has had a swift decline recently. The showers especially seemingly are cleaned extremely infrequently, with piles of hair and gunk piling up in the corners, not to mention a week or so ago, someone left their sundries in a shower stall, and it was still there when I went the next day.

The Danbury location on federal road is a great experience to be privileged to have. The location is always clean and well managed. The only thing I would love to see is that it’s open 7 days a week 24 hrs all week long with of course the exception of all major holidays and that the employees are paid a more the fair wage to ensure customer satisfaction and experience. The manager on staff is an amazing leader also, job well done corporate! 💪🏼❤️

Easy to check in, access machines, and utilize Black Card amenities. I have been to larger branches with some more equipment ("more" in redundancy, not variety), but this is fine. Staff is always present for help or assistance. I generally enjoy the app although I feel the Crowd Meter may need to be tweaked. 1 out of 10 bars seems moderately occupied and 2/10 may not mean all treadmills, elipticals, or bikes are in use, but if everyone is on leg day you might be waiting for a machine. I can't imagine what 8/10 would look like, lol.
All in all, I'm quite happy with this location and my value for the membership.

No one uses the 30 minute workout room appropriately. They sit on a machine and do multiple sets. All of the same type of machines are available on the main floor. I wish the staff would crack down on people taking up machines in that room for much longer than intended.

Went to work out mid day. Machine platforms are dirty n littered with shoe debris, women's room floor is wet, sink counter was entirely wet. Not a good look at all! When I told the guy at the front desk I was trying to be polite n wait u til he was done with another member but he thought it was ok to disregard the other member to see what I wanted. His response was there's no female person for the bathroom. Unacceptable!!! Ever been to a place where they call out to members "Maintenance" n wait until everyone vacated to do 5 mins of cleaning. I like this gym. The staff are very nice and make you feel at home. The entire gym is very clean . Bring earbuds to watch the The tvs on the wall from your treadmill or bike..the music from their system is present but not over powering. I usually listen to music on my phone with earbuds when I'm alone. Bring a lock and use their lockers .

The club and machines are nice but I was a little disappointed with the maintenance and the staff didn't seem too bothered. The one time I had to use the showers and they were disgusting with standing water and hair. Also many of the spray bottles were empty and the towel dispensers weren't working.

Desk attendants can be very chill and pretty easy to talk to. Usually well kept, sometimes cleaning supplies aren't restocked often and it makes you wonder how dirty some of the machines are, but there is the possibility of just having a string of people not cleaning it off after themselves . A wonderful Planet Fitness with two levels helps keep enough machines available, the only reason for not five stars is that you can't bring in a larger vehicle like a truck to park and work out.

What is going on here?!?! Fix the broken machines faster!! Some have been out for a week Clean the locker rooms every day! You need new flooring in shower area. Someone is going to slip and get hurt. Now a lot of the TV's are out for several days. Machines still aren't fixed and need to be dusted. A lot of people standing around chatting, though. Where is the management? This used to be a good place to work out.
