I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experiences at your facility. I have been disappointed by several aspects of how the gym is currently being managed:
• The ongoing renovations are taking much longer than expected, which has impacted the quality of the facility.
• The showers were out of service for an extended period, causing inconvenience to members.
• I have observed individuals rummaging through the trash while members are working out, and when I asked front desk staff, I was told that this is allowed. While I understand the desire to support those in need, this activity in workout areas is unprofessional and disruptive. If you wish to provide support, perhaps consider organizing donations outside the workout spaces.
• The temperature in the gym is consistently too warm for proper cardio or intense exercise, which makes workouts uncomfortable and less effective.
• I have found staff at the front desk to be unhelpful; when I approach them with questions, I receive minimal assistance or acknowledgment.
• I have left multiple messages requesting a manager to contact me, but I have yet to receive a response.

Overall, I feel that several operational aspects of the gym could be significantly improved.

Desk person began flicking the lights off at closing time Sunday night to signify close, putting people at risk for injury. Imagine getting strobed in the face while on a bench, or an elderly patron falling on a treadmill or stairs due to this. This is a super dangerous practice. Please retrain your staff.

Clean gym. Staff are nice. I like working out in the last hour before close. Hasn’t been an issue before but tonight the staff continued to turn the lights on and off multiple times in the last 10 minutes before close. I know the workers want to go home but that shouldn’t happen.

The Planet Fitness at 19 Backus Ave, Danbury is by far the best Planet Fitness in the area. The manager (Ashley) has the gym running like a Swiss watch. All the employees are happy to be there, a sign of fareness to each individual employee. I see Thiago cleaning the locker room faithfully everyday when he's finished cleaning the locker room you could eat off the floor that's how clean it is. The gym is always in tip top shape and the locker rooms are always spotless. This Planet Fitness should be a model for all the other Planet Fitness locations.

While I still think this location is great, there's been a problem with the television Networks. The 700 club has replaced ESPN and ESPN2. I'm not a religious person at all. I don't like being forced fed someone else's fantasies and don't like being brainwashed. It's a problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

I love this PF and have been coming here since opening, 4-6 days per week and have not had a bad experience - ever.
The equipment and locker rooms are always clean. On the off chance something has run out the staff is immediately responsive. The staff is professional and personable and always greet and say goodbye. The staff is never just sitting around; they are always doing something to care for the gym/equipment. Ashley and Amy are super sweet and helpful.

Hi, Clean place with good staff, the problem is that there are few machines and people using the equipment for a long time. People sit on the machines and open their cell phones, sometimes staying for 5 more minutes without exercising. I've been there for 4 months, but I noticed that there are many treadmills but few machines to exercise chest, arms and legs.

Terrible experience. I wanted to use the hydromassage bed. I told the kid at the front desk, he had to go into the back and set up the bed. He told me to hit the button on the screen and the machine will turn on, then he leaves. I take off my jacket and shoes and get into the bed and hit the button. Nothing happens, I hit it again and again, nothing happened. The other beds were being used. I got back on my shoes and jacket and walked back up to the desk and told the kid that it didn't work. He was talking to another customer and then looked at me and shrugged and said, "Not my problem". I said ok and left. So now it is his problem to explain to his manager why there is a bad review on Google against this planet Fitness gym. Bad attitude, and being lazy. If the manager is reading this, it was his problem and his fault is the reason why you got a 1 star bad review.

Hi, Ive been going to planet fitness for two years and I really like it, but we had so many bad experiences with the costumer service that were considering to stop coming in, this lady at the front desk doesn’t know how to mediate a problem at all, this old men invited me to fight outside because while I was exercising with my wife I accidentally sat on the bench that he was using it, and he kicked me out yelling at me, I obviously approached him respectfully saying that it wasn’t the way to talk to a person, and this lady came to me just to yell at me that me and my wife should be using the same bench because she is my “guest”, excuse me but knowing that information I wouldn’t have signed up for the black card, she is always giving me attitude and Im not the first person complaining about her, hope you planet fitness do something about your staff

I have never been to a bad planet fitness. I happen to prefer the danbury location as they have lay down tanning beds. Other than that they are all clean, well equipped and have friendly staff members. I definitely recommend whether you are working out, tanning or both. Black card membership is the way to go. No contracts!

I'm a new member and I love it. I have only one complaint. It's impossible to use the 30 minute circuit area as intended. Yesterday two people literally just sat at machines and scrolled their phones for 30 minutes! They didn't even do a set. They just sat there. Why is this allowed? Is this their way of feeling better about themselves for "going to the gym" even though they aren't actively working out? I've heard that at other clubs there are big signs stating that it is for circuit use only. There are also no staff members anywhere enforcing this. I'm a new member and I don't want to approach people and be labeled the "crazy 30 min circuit lady." It's such a great option especially for beginners and people intimidated by the main floor. I think it would be utilized a lot more if people weren't literally blocking the machines at all hours.

so funny enough I actually began my fitness journey here a little over a year ago. This gym is relatively new to this area, and I have to say overall it’s a great location. The staff here are incredibly friendly and super fun to interact with and talk to. understandably Planet Fitness gets a lot of heat because it’s a giant chain, and obviously your experience will vary depending on the location you’re going to. This in particular is very well-maintained and run, the equipment is always incredibly clean and the staff are always very attentive to whatever is needed.

The only thing that I could even mention as a possible complaint is the fact that the gym probably needs a bit more equipment, the issue is as there is really just not enough space to pack more stuff in here. If you’re gonna go to this gym I would highly recommend coming between the hours of 5 AM to 9 AM, that tends to be a pretty good in terms of ability to get all the equipment without waiting.

Highly recommend just stick to the basic membership, Unless you legitimately think you’re gonna be bringing friends often

Horrible customer service, everything mentioned about the front desk is accurate (God knows where they are hired from) and the majority of customers who attend this gym are the type of people who do not emphasize etiquette and mannerisms hence probably why they spend only $10-15 a month on a gym. Me, being the positive person I am will always give the benefit of the doubt until the benefits are hard to reason with. The worst part is all of the women who felt they were being targeted due to jealousy will have no one to bring their issue up with. Planet Fitness is a franchise therefore individually owned and receives corporate support so you will be left with no one who can resolve your issue should you feel threatened or dissatisfied with service(s). Your complaint will loop around to the same person who established the issue to begin with. Furthermore, it appears there are only 62 reviews in total on Google however last year there were over a hundred complaints found in which they all received a template-trained response from PF headquarters apologizing and to reach out to them. Perhaps Google had to remove the previous reviews due to the CEO of PF stepping down due to lawsuits. I am baffled as to where my previous review went. When I reached out to PF as they requested me to do so regarding my issue absolutely nothing was resolved or looked into. Danbury PF Fitness lowers the quality of the surrounding infrastructure and the potential it has to be a higher-class environment. These gyms should be located in either high-traffic areas such as a city environment or low to middle-class neighborhoods and not growing/up-and-coming areas that have so much potential to be better. What you have now are disgruntled employees and a large variety of customers coming from the lower-income areas and angering the local people from the middle-class areas who are looking for a quick workout at a low price. I can assure you, that anyone, from mid to higher-class areas will not step foot in this place, so the balance of a good blending environment is absent. The entire mall in which it is situated looks horrifying, like some sort of zombie apocalypse. So, save some money by all means but go at your own risk and know what you're up against. I'd like to thank all the people who take the time to warn other people, especially when they are purchasing a membership and are relying on places like this to improve their health in which they are allocating valuable time within their day-to-day schedules.

The one time I come unprepared for a quick am workout, cash was missing from my backpack. Again that's my fault for not locking up my belongings but there definitely theft happening. Also happened to a few others as well. Don't be caught slipping and lock up your stuff.

I'll stay in Brookfield where the facility is a real 24 hour PF. I drove 20 minutes after midnight on a Monday night to find a dark empty lot and a closed door. They close at 11. Ridiculous. Never heard of a PF that's not 24 hours during the week. And these 5 star reviews look very suspicious. And I'm concerned about the many 1 star reviews describing heinous experiences here.

On July 11th, I made a formal complaint to the General Manager, who took my complaint; within a few minutes Tee-Ann, a female Black worker subordinate worker interrupted the conversation to “scold” me like she was scolding her child. She had very little information, and immediately took the side of the hispanic / latino woman and her daughter that broke the women’s locker room policy. The sign is clearly on the wall and the two of them were blasting music in the shower. I asked them to turn down the music and it turned into a threat to call the police for a noncriminal matter. I completed my complaint to the General Manager, who I believe is Asian (?), however he seemed extremely ignorant as well. As I, a Black woman was called aggressive, a racist, for asking another member of the facility to turn down their music in a public bathroom. I left the facility and the next day around 7am, Tee-Ann was there mopping the floor, while a young teenage white girl was at the front desk. My barcode was scanned and I was told as a national member, I exhausted my stay, as I continued to speak to the teenage staff member, Tee-Ann stopped mopping the floor, and immediately began yelling for me to leave and was behaving like an aggressive abandoned dog; as I began to take my phone out, Tee-Ann moved towards me and threatened “record me” as if she was going to swing or fight me for recording her hostile behavior. While Tee-Ann is acting the fool, one of the jealous white women who is jealous of my workout regiment and hairstyling technique, grabbed Tee-Ann and kissed her like her behavior was appropriate. I walked out the door in disgust. The entire experience from the day before was a setup by jealous, angry, bitter, unhappy women. There is a high population of people in this country, who are walking around undiagnosed with several forms of mental illness, paranoia, etc. It’s never acceptable for an employee of a company to discriminate and harass a member in good standing all out of jealousy and hate for oneself. I’m not responsible for the unhappiness or trauma of anyone. Twice a week I wash and style my natural long curly hair in the women’s locker room and took notice several white woman had a problem with how I loved to style my hair and made several complaints that styling my hair (as if they were doing it), on my body took too long for them. What’s also concerning is why women regardless of age and color are fascinated with how I spend my time? Also, there were two Black women who had the same issue. I reminded all parties involved of the importance of self-love, and noticed an attitude; so my complaint about another member fell on deaf ears of dead souls, because the staff members, and specific members of the gym are jealous and afraid to make their holistic health and happiness a priority. What pathetic beings… Paying for a membership being mistreated for the sake of “jealousy”, and no one is held accountable speaks to the lack of leadership at planet fitness franchise.

I went today and it was terrible, I asked which hydro massage bed I would be placed on and whatever girl that was working there on Friday July 21st of this year decided to be super rude to me and shake her head and give me a bunch of attitude and ignore my question leaving me in distraught as to why she didn’t want to understand a single word I was saying. I was just confused as to which hydro massage bed I would be placed at because I don’t know the order of the numbers and I didn’t want a chair. I wanted the bed. Sensed major jealousy and envy coming from a worker and not a single smile or nice greeting. Incredibly terrible experience and will not be going back. Just so rude and obnoxious to deal with a little girl that clearly doesnt have a single ounce of work ethic. Judgement free is clearly not what they abide by because I felt targeted. I’m not sure who the name of this employee is, but I’d like to contact the owner of this franchise and try to understand why I’m being mistreated when I’m simply trying to go about my day. Also had an experienced where I got HARASSED about a bag when everyone had one. Mind you, I was on the stair master and they kept approaching me and constantly coming upto me. Im shocked, this is definitely not a normal facility with people I’d want to be around. Honestly felt uncomfortable and felt suffocated know these front desk workers have nothing else to do other than be bullys, gossip, and mistreat customers at their own ease.

One of the best experiences I’ve had so far as per member experience and the gym atmosphere. The staff are amazing whether it’s daytime or nighttime. I always get a warm and welcoming greeting from the front desk which makes my day. The gym is super clean and I see the staff cleaning and helping out other members every time I’m there. I’ve never had any issues finding a machine to workout as they have tons of options when it come to cardio and weight training machines. The locker rooms are very spacious and clean and has a lot of additional new workout equipment compared to other locations. The Black Card Spa is the place to be as it offers tons of amenities for the Black Card Members. This is the most updated gym in Connecticut and I’m glad that I chose Danbury Southwest Planet Fitness. Look no further!! The Best Gym Ever!!!

I have been taking the drive from Naugatuck to Danbury just to work out at this gym!
Staff greats when you walk in and when you’re leaving. Very positive vibes. Shout out to Ozzy for welcoming us at the door. I also met the supervisor Elizabeth who toured me around the gym herself. She also showed me how many machines work. Also about the pricing. I didn’t know there’s no contract so I can leave if I didn’t like it any time. That’s great! Try this gym out you will love it!
