I’ve been a member for over 3 years and the female bathroom in New Britain is very nasty.. I have to cut my workout a lot of times and go home to pee .. not as much as wash my hands I don’t want to do there . There’s no female worker I never see any even since 2 girls left over a year now .

I always return to the Newington Planet Fitness after my deployments overseas. The location went through a major renovation which is nice and that the gym is modernized and kept clean. However, the men's locker room, the last five out of seven times smelled like marijuana. That skunk cabbage smell. I know they can't control human behavior but spraying the locker room with a room freshener would be great. Please enforce no talking on cell phones and ear devises while lifting. Otherwise, this gym is well managed and run.

Trash, good luck if you're a guy attempting chest workout. I use come early upon opening so as not having to a wait. Also I picked them as they were 24hours. Upon stopping 24hrs, I can never get chestwork out unless it free weights and good luck getting a bench. ²I'll try and risk new britain or just close membership and find another gym or buy own.

Sometimes the decision-making at this gym completely boggles me. For instance, we still have a clock on the wall that hasn’t been changed since daylight saving time. We can’t fix this?? How many people does it take to change the time on a clock? On the other hand, we do have the time to move this massive stretching machine that was in the perfect location because there wasn’t any other equipment around it, allowing people to stretch properly. However, they moved it to an area where there’s equipment right next to it, so people can do their legs and other weights. The machine is literally right up against the wall, so you can’t even get a full arm stretch when you’re using this contraption. Yesterday, I was doing legs and was literally 2 inches away from bumping into someone stretching and using this stretch bar system. Not pleased with the decision making at this location.

I went to make my monthly payment on January 17, which is the day that the payment is due and when I went on the app, I realized I was already charged a late fee the same day as upon contacting the Newington location about this I have yet to receive a call from the General manager, Michael so this late fee can be waived because it is not a late fee if I went to pay on the same day makes absolutely zero sense and as you can see on the screenshot it shows the 17th when I called the Newington store I spoke to Alyssa or Melissa can’t quite remember, but it was one of those names she told me it shows the 19th for the late fee date but clearly something is wrong because this late fee was added to my balance on the 17th the day I went to pay Friday the 17th to be as exact. I want to make my monthly payment, but I refuse to pay a late fee for something that was technically not late…..UPDATE OWNER (you) referred me to that email about my situation and yet they responded back telling me that they have no access to my account nor anything pertaining to billing as the owner. Why would you recommend me to send the email to them if they were not the solution and in fact it is the owner who is the solution to my issue.

I've always gone to the Middletown or Rocky Hill location previously (10+ years), but I'm so glad I made the switch to this gym! It doesn't seem to be packed 24/7 like the other locations, and I don't have to search for a machine to find one that's open. At the Rocky Hill location, When I would use a weight lifting machine I would ALWAYS get asked by men how much longer I was going to be no matter what length of time I would be on the machine. It's a delight not to have to deal with that anymore!

The planet fitness in newington CT has gotten HORRIBLE. If your looking for LAZY employees who sit on the counter or on chairs behind the front desk with hoodies on and glued to there cell phones then this is the place for you. Oh wait Bonus .. most don’t greet you or scan you in because there on the cell phones or having conversations with there friends. So you have to check yourself in. Few machines are also out of order for months and I’m not just talking about 2 or 4. It’s more than 5. It also has become so dirty and filthy. We are in February and they still have Christmas decorations up.

This gym use to be spotless with friendly workers that made you want to come here and recommend this place. Now forget it !! I been a member here more then 5 years and now I’m seriously looking to go else where when my contract is up. District team really needs to pay this establishment a visit. Very disappointed .

Very difficult to change gym locations. Customer service is not too great.
I wish I knew how bad planet fitness was before signing up. Please read this before signing up with Planet Fitness. I've been a member since 2022 at the Newington location. I moved to Bloomfield so I wanted to transfer gym locations. This proved to be a very difficult task. Planet fitness makes it very difficult to make any changes or transfer or even cancel your membership which is what I'm going to do because I'm very frustrated with this gym. All I want to do is change gym locations so that I can go closer to my home. I tried first online then asked for help from the Newington location and the manager never got back to me. I then called back the next day and got the assistant manager and he was not able to assist me and told me to contact someone named Josh at Ignite fitness and gave me their email addres. He never got back to me. So it's been 3 weeks and I have not been able to go to the gym and I'm in the same position So PLEASE BEWARE before joining Planet Fitness

I went there on last Friday 8/18/2023, there was the police activity going on and asking the peoples question one of the police officer came to me and asked me that did you see anyone braking in to the car I told Hime just got here and I asked one of the employee of the fitness what is going on he told me some people break into four cars and before this incident I sow two or three parking places shredded glasses from the car windows and also there is no trainer to help peoples how to use the equipment and the bathrooms are so filthy and mushy stuff on the wall and shower curtain and sometimes dirty commodes need immediate attention thank you

You get what you pay for. More TV's are not working than the ones that work. They won't upgrade the TV'S from annolog to digital because it cost too much. I don't appreciate being penalized over mistakes made by the staff and not myself.

I moved out of the state, and when I called to cancel my membership a few months ago, an employee gave me incorrect information on how to do so. As a result, although I thought the membership had been canceled, it turns out it never was.

When I explained the situation to the manager, I was told there was nothing that could be done regarding the false information that I had received. Company policy or not, this is not an ideal way to handle a situation that costs a consumer a considerable amount of money for a mistake made by the establishment.

Been a member of a few area gyms of varying price ranges, and this PF location is fantastic. Really. All shapes and sizes of clientele here ... No judgment, just like they advertise. Lots of different equipment so that you can seechange up your routine. No waiting here, lots of every types, and enough extra room to find a corner to do your stretching. Can't say enough good things! A+

The super staff that was once at PF have all left or gone to other facilities. The quality of the cleanliness, professionalism and choice of functioning equipment has drastically decreased. There is a main light out in the parking lot that has not been functioning for months. This is a serious safety concern for all. It's a shame how far this club location has fallen.

Currently a member as of 7/13/2022. Lots of machines that are "out of order" I work out 7 days a week and some machines have been broken for close to a month. The only reason I haven't left is because of how close it is to my house. Currently looking at other options. Update: The owner replied under my review and I can't send him a message or contact him. In short all of the staff is aware of it as I have mentioned it to them and the machines have labels saying out of order so yes management and I'm sure ownership is well aware of what's going on. Please fix it and stop pretending as if management and ownership is unaware of what's going on. I'm there 2 hrs a day 6 days a week. UPDATE 7/21/2022 MACHINES STILL BROKEN AND NOT FIXED. Also they have free Wi-Fi and their internet security certificate is not valid which means unless you have a VPN on your phone you can be tracked and or worst your pics and videos can be compromised by anyone who logs in to the same Wi-FI as you are all sharing your personal IP addresses on your phones.Today is August 3, 2022 posting a new pic. Machines still not fixed. New pic as of 803/2022 another one bites the dust.. Today is 8/16/2022 Finally there a tech fixing the machines. 3 months minimum to get them fixed.

I visited the Planet Fitness Newington, CT location to work out with my sisters. We were there for maybe less than 10 minutes when we were interrupted by your employee, Lindsay (works first shift) who stormed over to us in the middle of our set to say “we were being too loud and she could hear us from ‘over there'’ and gestured vaguely. I can't believe we were singled out at Planet Fitness Newington when I workout at every other location. I told them that this is a gym not a library. We were shocked and gathered our things to leave because we were made to feel very uncomfortable after the interaction. I thought Planet Fitness was a “judgment free zone”. I informed the manager in hopes that she would at least correct the situation. Now I’m being retaliated against after speaking out about the discrimination. I did nothing for my membership to be canceled except speak out against the racism we endured at Planet Fitness Newington.

Wouldn't recommend this location. At least one of the employees racially profiles gym goers. I noticed a trainer walk over to and interrupt two Black people mid-workout to tell them they were too loud. They were over in the corner and were definitely no louder than any of the people around them. I've never seen white gym goers be singled out in this way. Treatment like this from a trainer would never fly at the gym I usually go to. Also many of the cable machines need maintenance and are squeaky.

Enjoyed this facility when I was in the area. Have been paying for the membership since Covid started even though I haven't been in 2 years. Finally decided to cancel. Called the facility & was told that I cannot cancel over the phone, I need to come in person, write a letter, or an email. Opted for writing an email. Emailed on February 3, 2022 and have followed up 2 times. They still charged my account. Unfortunately will now need to get in contact with PF HQ, or the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection since I do not receive responses from the Franchisee, Manager, or other staff of this location.

***If emailing to cancel a membership is not an option, please train your staff to know that. I was told emailing was an option, now I've been told the only way I can cancel is to show up or write a letter. Inconsistencies like this, that cost consumers money (membership costs after requesting cancellation, cost of trackable mail, at your suggestion, to cancel) are a massive turnoff and honestly...annoying.
