The manager/supervisor lady with the red hair is straight from hell! she is absolutely the rudest gym staff member I have ever run into. She demanded that I place my bag in a locker immediately. Minutes later I saw her walk by another gym goer with a bag, hoodie, and belt throw on the floor and she did not say a single word. The owner should consider hiring staff with higher competence and better customer service skills. That will be my last time visiting this location.

The front office staff is very friendly and helpful. The recent equipment upgrade was much needed, especially the replacement of the equipment that were constantly out of order.
Recently, CNN was removed from the available TV options. No one at the front desk knew the reason. They asked me to contact the assistant regional manager, Michelle Green. I emailed her over a month ago and asked why CNN was removed from the TV line-up, but she never responded (rude and unprofessional). BTW, Fox news is on 3-4 TVs, just saying.

I'm not sure what has happened to this Planet Fitness (Willimantic, CT) location over the past few months, but it's been downhill and I'm about done with it.

The aggressive enforcement of the "no bags, no towels, no sweatshirts" policy has gotten out of control. My wife was interrupted on the treadmill and told to put her sweatshirt in a locker (which she removed midway through her workout and hung on the treadmill). I was told I can't carry my sling pack, which has my meds.

However, while select members of the staff wander around enforcing this rule, the biggest problem is guests camped out on machines for 30-40 minutes, with no staff interactions to move things along.

Today, I watched and waited 40 minutes to get on one of the four rack benches. During that 40 minutes, three women sat on four of the three benches, typing away on their phones, doing a light set every 15 minutes. I finally walked up and asked each of them how much longer they would be, and got no clear response that it would be any time soon. Many of the offenders are actually part time PF employees, hanging around with their friends and lounging on benches. Management doesn't care.

I'm already looking at other gyms. Don't get sucked into this one because of the price. Right now, it's just a hangout for kids.

So I’ve been at the willimantic location for several years now and the new manager Taylor has an unbelievable harassing attitude, she had the audacity to call my cell phone and leave a snarky message about me standing up for others she treats poorly. She told my fiance to slow down on the treadmill before she falls and smashes her face. She told a male member to change his tank top as it was making her uncomfortable. Shes rude, is driving members away. The equipment it constantly broken, seat pads are torn and broken. Benches are falling to the sides when you lay on them. The place is filthy!!! I went to Vernon for better equipment and they have a handicapped employee in a wheelchair who is paralyzed from the waste down who gets out of the wheelchair and hand washes all the machines as he pulls himself around the floor!!!! Yet willimantic is scared to use a broom. Taylor should focus on herself , her staff and the cleanliness of the club. Also she should think about taking down the “judgement free” sign because clearly she’s extremely judgmental!!!!!I’ll be looking to contact cooperate moving forward from here.

I have been a Planet Fitness member for many years, but I joined the Willimantic gym almost a year ago after a move, and I feel like this is the worst one I have ever been to…

Firstly, I have never seen so many members linger on the equipment while texting, or not wash their hands after using it, which is disgusting! Then, you’ll have a crew hanging out, making it difficult to maneuver around them. And, of course, you have those who feel the necessity to grunt loudly or slam their weights down to feel empowered. But more than anything, when it comes to the gym itself, they don’t keep up with restoring their never-ending broken equipment. And 99% of the time, their stations are out of paper towels. I’ve spent more time going to the front desk and politely requesting if they can fill one or more of the stations. What’s worse is it always during peak hours.

The staff are nice, but outside of one regular staff person (who I always see checking the stations), the rest are upfront talking the entire time while ignoring their tasks. More than once I’ve seen them sit on the counter while multiple stations are out of paper towels. Even one time, a staff person sat down on one of the machine’s that I was waiting to go on while he was texting for about five minutes.

I’ve had to ask the manager several times if someone could fill the station/s, and I eventually mentioned that it has been on ongoing occurrence. Still, nothing has changed.

Unfortunately, the Willimantic PF is the only close one to me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate to go to another.

Really bummed to find out they arent 24/7. Part of the reason i started the membership here is so that i could go to the gym anytime thanks to a crazy work schedule that prevents me from normal workout times. I havent been able to hit the gym since this change and it makes me want to cut the membership.

Edit: this was a 3 star review, this is now a 1 star review. I workout here regularly, about 4 to 5 times per week. In those 4-5 days I NEVER fail to find 3+ empty paper towel dispensers and all the employees sitting on the ground talking behind the desk or walking around looking busy. The bathrooms are constantly filthy and the machines are undercared for. Squeky equipment that could use proper lubrication, leg machines that chatter when reps are being done, treadmills with deadspots on the floor boards.

Maybe its a pay thing, because all I see are college kids that could care less about this job letting the gym go to hell when the manager takes his nights off and sticks them with the closing shifts. Didnt used to he this way a few years back, but this place has seriously declined lately.

I loved this gym for a long time, and have been coming to this location since the soft opening in October (2018 I think?). Unfortunately, it's really gone downhill in the last 6 months or so. The front desk staff aren't friendly and welcoming like they used to be. The process to check in a guest isn't user friendly like it used to be. It's harder to have fun here and easier to feel judged and unwelcome.
I've been using planet fitness gyms for the past 11 years, but I think it's time to move on- it's no longer my home away from home.

My Girlfriend is from cape she was here staying with me she is a black card member of Planet fitness which allows her to bring guest when ever she goes to use the facility’s which she has Sunday and Tuesday no issues put the card provided guess name info awesome Today we enter This person on counter was saying he is the Team leader and that She can only bring 10 guests annually that he could not verify that this was a different state and There for she would have to file papers prior to her arrival then she could then bring guest because he could not verify how many guest she has already brought may have been exceed 10 person limit had no clue of membership benefits what so ever and got quite upset when I had showed that no limit and state would not make a difference he still insist that prior to using papers had to be filed to be able use the membership i this faculty ..... pity really pity he was Getting Condescending Rather it’s a pity seem to be bright young man if there was possible to give zero for information that he provided I would give zero stars I work in customer service for many years when I don’t know the answer I say let me find out for you rather than making up the answer It’s a real pity

The staff is always so friendly and encouraging. The gym is very clean, and the staff is always out and about on the floor cleaning. It’s so easy to ask for help with a machine it never feels like I’m a bother. The equipment is very challenging and comfortable to use. There is good air flow so you can have a comfortable workout. I love the spa extras, my favorite is the hydro massage!!! The crowd meter on the app is very accurate too.

Jasmine is an amazing person, her attention to detail and her ability to just let you go to the spa for comfort from the massage chair and the hydro massage is incredible, she is aware, she is so polite, she listens, and she makes sure you are comfortable, I love Jasmine, and the many others who make planet fitness so awesome

I joined PF since the first day they opened the doors for ppl. It was nice at the beginning, but it's time the owner does something about improving the gym. With better and newest equipment. Most of the equipment is in really bad conditions, and I've spoken to my friends in the gym, and we all agreed that it is about time for better equipment and the owner really pays attention to his customers. I understand gym equipment isn't cheap, but by the time the gym has been opened, I've visited different ones and seen the improvements. I've visited the ones in El Paso, TX, Puerto Rico, and the ones around the area, Vernon, Manchester, East Hartford, Norwich, and to be honest better conditions than the one in Willimantic. I'll gladly change the review as soon I'll see changes in this place.

A lot of machines need maintenance , I have found bolts from machines on the floor , the cables in a lot of machines click and seem to need to be greased , there are a few broken stations that have been down for a while , and lately the machines are all shifted almost touching one another with dust and dirt under most of them . All of a sudden they state you cannot have a gym bag out on the floor when working out, after everyone has been doing this for the 3 years I been a member. The manager condescendingly says they are now choosing to enforce this policy and I signed up to abide by their house rules when they choose to enforce them. Meanwhile there are people slamming weights all over the place, uncleaned bathrooms, and constantly broken machines that take weeks to get fixed. I think their energy is better served with these issues instead of annoying me about my gym bag. I recommend going somewhere else that is run by people who actually workout and care about actually managing the gym and not gym bags. I stayed because the price was cheap, but decided to end my membership and go somewhere better.

The staff is very friendly and the entire facility is spotless. There are several of each machine and it's spacious enough to not feel crowded. There are several papertowel/disinfectant stations provided to wipe down your machines or tanning beds or hydro massage beds before/after using.

There are several large TV's with different stations on each. It's pretty quiet, even when crowded.

Ages range quite a bit. There are a lot of much older people that go to this gym, and I actually think they should have more handicap spaces available because of the large variety of people that I've encountered here. The parking lot is quite big and it can be a long walk if there are no spaces up front.

This is a terrific gym. The staff is friendly and helpful and they do a great job of keeping the place very clean (including the bathrooms and showers). The other clients seem friendly as well and as their motto says, Planet Fitness is a "judgement free zone". There are people of all ages, sizes and shapes and everybody seems welcome. They have plenty of exercise equipment and I've never really have had to wait to use a piece of equipment.

The Willimantic location is adjacent to Stop & Shop, near ECSU and right door to Moe's. It's easy to get to, and there's plenty of (free) parking. I had driven by this place hundreds of time before joining and never realized what a hidden gem this place is. As an added bonus (as of this writing) they are a member of "Silver Sneakers", meaning if you're a senior your insurance plan may pay for your membership.

I was very happy with this place when I joined in 2019. It was friendly, clean, well-maintained, and rules/behavior expectation seemed clear and enforced. Like many, I took 2020 to 2021 off and rejoined in 22. My boyfriend (also a member)and I have both noticed it seems sort of shabbier now, not as clean, and there are groups of people not working out just hanging around and making noise. It just feels a bit less comfortable/appealing to go. Still, staff at desk are always friendly and helpful, it's affordable and conveniently located.

I am just getting back into the gym so I opted for the basic package but may upgrade a few months down the road. The staff walked me through all the perks and even gave me a spin on the hydro massager!

dirty... I mean the client's clean more then the staff. There's dust in corners, toe nails, hairs. Maybe they vacuum once a month. The tanning beds I use them but stand up. The ven got stuff in the doorway and behind the tanning... DONT LOOK BEHIND THE TANNING BED!! I bet you can put a 💄 smear and come back next week to it still being there. Because I would tell staff they said oh I'll clean it personally then it's still there next time. I've done this several times with the same results. I've been a member for 8+ years. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff, and unlike other gyms, it doesn't smell like a sweaty gym sock. The exercise machines are numerous, so there's no waiting for your turn. NOTE: Since Covid guidelines are still in effect - wear your mask at all times, and use the machines that aren't marked with an "X" on them. After using each machine, there are numerous waste barrels with paper towel dispensers and at least 2 bottles of disinfectant to spray on the paper towel to wipe down each machine after each use. The place has some of the cleanest bathrooms around. There are trainers available, at NO COST to you (part of your membership), but you must schedule an appointment first. The trainer's schedule sheet is available at the front desk upon request. There are other exercise classes available as well.

Manager don't like you to go in just to talk to a friend without checking in at the deck. He said, if I do it again, I would not be a member anymore.

Their was someone else wanted to use it too. The person took twenty five minutes. If he's going to brows on his phone, he should use the storage room.
That is just dishonest work habits.
