This place was amazing until you try to cancel
Your membership. They don’t answer the phone, but hired a company to do their customer service, but you can’t cancel with them. You have to call the gym, they don’t answer. After months of not using the gym because I had to leave the area due a family emergency. I’ve been calling and emailing to cancel my membership to no avail. I finally get a hold of an email that works. I explain the situation, their response? That’s great but you’ll still be charged an extra month. $52 when my membership costed $39 but the day I cancelled they charged my account for $195 and still paid the 52 today . I wish I never came here and good luck to anyone else!

My problem lies with the clients of this gym more than anything. People destroy the bathrooms, don't flush, shave and spread bacteria, NEVER wipe down their machines. The poor cleaning lady who has to go in the men's bathroom god have mercy on her soul. These people have the worst gym etiquette I've ever experienced in my 15 years of lifting. Today someone was so filthy and unhygienic that they're dandruff coated the bench they were on and of course, they didn't wipe their filthy away.

Undoubtedly the best gym I've ever joined. We've been coming here for about 6-7 months now! PLENTY of equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, and opportunities to do group fitness classes. Can't beat the price!! (Family plan = ~60/mo total for up to 4 people).
As a woman, I'd been turned off of going to the "big" gyms from all the creeps who are "just trying to help show me how to use the equipment". This has absolutely NEVER been an issue here, and I can tell you that I am confident if there ever was a problem, management would handle it without question. The locker rooms are clean and it has great facilities - sauna, tanning beds, massage chair things, group fitness classes - all included with the membership I have. There is also a cardio theater! Watch movies while walking or running on the treadmill.
My husband and I also opted into the personal trainers. We initially had planned on just doing it a few months to look good/feel good for our wedding, but I can tell you with confidence I will use this service forever lol. Mel has been the most influential person in BOTH of our lives this year (Mel! You dropped this! 👑 )- he is positive and encouraging, supportive, and pushes us without being mean or making us feel bad. This is the most consistent I've been with the gym for over a decade. I feel good, I feel strong, and although I've still got a ways to go for my own personal goals, I've never felt better in my adult life. If you're on the fence, I would encourage you to give it a try. Hugely helpful!
The staff are friendly and kind (shout out to our faves, Ashley and Alex!) and the smoothies you can get from them are to die for. Gym patrons are also friendly and kind. Love that it's 24/7 access! 15/10 recommend we will never change gyms!

This gym is a joke — and not the funny kind.

No formal notice of membership price hikes — just a lazy “there were signs at the front desk.” Meanwhile, I get constant texts from random trainer numbers reminding me my body scan is “expiring today” — somehow weekly.

The place is filthy. Dust caked on equipment, cleaner only wipes the lobby, and half the treadmills have been broken for months. There's an alarming shortage of 10lb plates, 5lbs plates, and 2.5lb plates.

Trainers treat the floor like a personal obstacle course, taking up 3-4 machines at once with zero signage or courtesy.

Oh — and apparently HVAC is optional, because there's no working heat or AC. Hope you enjoy lifting in a sauna or freezer, depending on the season.

Let’s talk about boundaries: the female cleaner regularly walks into the men’s locker room and sauna without knocking. Completely inappropriate.

And as for communication? I was told I had access “until 6/17.” Like a normal person, I assumed that meant through 6/17. Nope. Showed up that night and got told my access was cut that morning.

And before the gym tries to jump in saying “this review is false” or “defamation” — save it. That’s your response to every honest review that calls out your mess. Instead of gaslighting paying members, maybe address the real issues.

Plenty of other gyms out there that actually clean, communicate, and respect their clients. This isn’t one of them.

I've been going here for a year, and it's the best gym I've ever been to. There are plenty of treadmills, a very supportive staff, and numerous free programs with trainers—Pilates, yoga, cardio, and more. The gym also has a big parking lot and is never crowded. Membership prices are one of the cheapest in the area. I absolutely love this place!

I like the gym. Good location. I would like even more to give it 5 stars, but I can't. I've been coming here for two weeks, and after asking, the soap dispensers in the showers are still empty. Gyms are a haven for germs, and cleanliness should be a higher priority. The staff also don't seem to keep the weights in order. Going to the free weights area is like going to a 5 year old play room. It's completely disorganized.

Other than that the staff are friendly. The folks that come here also seem to be very nice.

EDIT: Lowered my review score from 3 stars to 2 due to a rude trainer that took the barbell i was using. Bathrooms have not improved despite many requests.

Ashley gave me a very hard time when trying to sign up for a guest pass. I wanted to try the gym out and she was very rude, kept telling me I wasn’t following a policy and after I told her I wanted to work out just for today she told me to leave. My FAVORITE place to workout! This gym has an amazing vibe that cannot be duplicated, anywhere else! From the staff, to the members, Powerhouse has an inviting and supportive feel to it. Even the manager takes her time to converse and connect with the members! Her and the rest of the team will greet you by your first name, making the gym feel like a safe space to become a better you. There is plenty of equipment that will help anyone get the results that they seek. You are also free to attend some classes hosted by great trainers, who are there solely for your physical progression. Let’s not forget the 24/7 access! If you are struggling to join a gym because of finances or even self esteem, please do not hesitate to check out this Powerhouse! The first step is walking through that door. I recently joined Powerhouse Gym. Much to my delight the staff is welcoming and encouraging upon your arrival always smiling faces and a genuine willingness to help you with whatever you need. The gym membership all seem to be nice and friendly. The training staff not only in knowledgeable and professional with their skills and experience but if they see someone not necessarily a client they offer friendly guidance to get the maximum benefit out of their workout routine..

The evening workout classes hosted by Sam Baldwin aka No Sympathy Sam are effective, fun and well orchestrated in order for you to enjoy the diversity while having fun and getting results. The classes are geared for any level of you fitness journey. To sum this gym experience up I’d say…. Fitness can be fun and rewarding at Powehouse Gym in Stratford location.

you're gaslighting people in this review section to make them believe your gym isn't dirty and understaffed. disgusting how you cant take responsibility for the problems in YOUR gym and then want to pin the blame on members. no one cares how "state of the art" your machines are, if they're dirty. ive seen u brag about your "cleaning service" when in reality its just some middle aged dude who comes in wearing crocs who vacuums for 30 minutes then leaves. open your eyes and realize gyms like la fitness and edge dont have a problem with water dripping on their machines when it rains. staff changes completely every 4-5 months and it's clear, just imagine what happens behind the scenes of a gym who can't even keep machines in proper working condition.

I recently made the decision to join a gym and wanted something on the smaller, more personal scale. The staff is welcoming and professional from greeting every member with kindness to consistently maintaining a clean facility. The personal trainers are knowledgeable, supportive and always ready to challenge you to break out of your comfort zone. There are plenty of up to date equipment options from cardio to machines to free weights along with an area for group fitness classes. I was nervous about getting back into a fitness routine, especially in an unfamiliar environment, but could not have found a better place to start.

PowerHouse is a good gym, has everything you need for a workout. But what I really LOVE and the true reason I belong to powerhouse is Sam. He is hands down THE BEST personal trainer. He pushes you even when you want to give up. His classes are awesome and very motivating. And beginners DON’T be intimidated. He modifies everything and will be sure to give you what you need! I am really glad I became a member over a year ago because this is my favorite gym hands down. It is spacious, clean, and they have tons of equipment. The staff is friendly, helpful, and they always welcome you with a smile. They have a variety of equipment you never have to wait for anything. And it is CLEAN!

I always see the manager there too, she is the one that signed me up. She always seems to be working hard and I see her helping staff, members and making sure the gym looks tidy. I even saw she was cleaning the bathrooms. Her professionalism and kindness shows with how great the staff is and how clean and organized the gym is. I see the owner there too and he was helpful. I seen him fixing equipment and cleaning and I ordered a shake from him and he makes the BEST shakes. They care about the member experience and it shows.

I recommend getting a personal trainer because they are helpful and knowledgeable. And it's also not expensive at all. I told my trainer I should pay double for the results I've seen!! I honestly can't rave enough about this place. It truly feels like home and I recommend EVERYONE to join!

This gym is a joke, you pay your membership fee's and the maintenance fee and nothing gets fixed. There's bolts coming off the equipment and a broken waterfountain to greet you when you come inn. Every 6 to 8 months the staff changes, I wonder why?? The gym is old, they haven't changed ANY equipment since it was ASPIRE. GOODBYE NO as noted I left this gym because they adapt policies and don't inform members of any changes also you see the photos they don't lie. The gym is Dirty, understaffed and if you complain they want to get rid of anyone who tells the truth.

Me and a buddy signed up together around February Mr Sabo proceeded to to call and very unprofessionally speak with me friend ultimately closing his account Ive since then tried to cancel my account but due to my job no employee is there during their "after hours" so Ive tried calling for months with no one answering the phone I even called the 888 number and they told me I couldnt close my membership with them I had to contact the gym itself which NO ONE answers so I eventually had to just block the gym from charging my credit card

One of the best power house gyms I have ever been to. All of the staff are professional and friendly. They recognize all members by name like they know them for years. I found that a lot of their equipment was loose. Bathroom smelled like urine. Everything seemed either dirty or broken or both as far as machines. The showers were honestly gross. I think they had 2 out of 3 sinks working. Some of the machines were frankensteined together with parts from other machines. They definitely lack cleanliness and need to keep up with their machines better and it would not be so bad. A lot of their equipment is pretty old as well and could use an update. Wish I took more pics to show.

I used to be a Fitness Edge member and have not regretted my switch to Powerhouse.

I enjoy going to Powerhouse; I've been a member since the middle of the pandemic around 2021- Ish.

The staff has always been friendly, from greeting me, making shakes, or even telling me to have a great day as I leave. I've always enjoyed the customer service I've received.

The facilities / machines are great too, some have wear and tear but its a gym, this is bound to happen.

I'm an 80s and 90s throwback. I like the gym feel, not the huge big box pretty clubs. What is lost is gym etiquette. No matter where you go anymore, people still don't put weights away and leave all their paper towels on the floor. Only one staff member stands out because she goes beyond a simple "hi" and takes the time to be friendly to everyone and that is Jacqui.

Watch out for the crazy cancelation process and fees.
So after a few year of going this gym I had to move. First you can't just cancel in person. To cancel your membership you have to submit an email with a bunch of personal information and then wait for a response. You have to do it 30 day prior and if you do it mid-month you will be charged for 2 or 3 extra months. On top of that after I canceled my membership, the following week I got a $40 charge and then a $50 charge not sure for what since my membership fee is around $21

I really did liked this gym and the people here are really friendly. Equipment is really nice too but the whole cancelation process left a bad feeling. The second they find out your leaving your treated like a unwanted step child and they try to squeeze every dollar they can from you. Now I have to get my bank involved to dispute the charges.

Because of this I would highly recommend checking out The Edge Fitness. For the same price you get longer hours including Sundays till 6PM not 1PM, multiple location access and different type of workout equipment. PS: The Edge in Shelton has a 12K massage chair.

The Power House (it was called Crunch) I was a member of in Stratford closed during Covid (two years ago) and my payments stopped obviously as there was a lock down. Then the location closed and its now a dollar store. Fast forward to a year ago - evidently they opened a new location in Bridgeport and started charging me again. When I discovered the charges and called last week to ask a very unhelpful and unsympathetic employee why they had been charging me for over a year (over $400) they said they called and emailed me to tell me my membership was restarted (they did not). Can you believe that they opened a new location that I have never seen nor know where it is yet they renewed my membership without my permission or knowledge? Total crooks and I am taking them to small claims court as well as taking my story to social media. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!

No staff. Received reply from owner. Requesting removal of review. I would request he update hours of operation to reflect that those seeking to check out gym would not gain access after 1 on weekends. As he stated these are difficult times for all of us.

I found the general manager to be extremely hospitable and welcoming. Even in these difficult times he took special care and walked me through the facility . Everyone was wearing masks appropriately , and the facility was clean and well organized. The GM was both attentive and knowledgeable to my needs and questions. After meeting with him I already feel more confident in my ability to crush my goals .

Unfortunately, they were completely out of paper towels during a pandemic! This is ridiculous! You up my monthly fee $5 and cannot afford proper cleaning material! In addition, I arrived at 7:30 p.m. and worked out till 8:30 and crumbled up a paper towel and put it in the dressing room corner, The next morning the same paper towel was there! Customer safety is important!

Great gym. The new location is bigger and a big upgrade. Powerhouse has more than sufficient space for anyone to work out. They are still adding equipment to make the gym even better. If you are thinking of the best gym for your dollar in Stratford, Bridgeport, Milford this is the gym for you.

It beats fitness edge by far and for $11 dollars a month and no contract there’s nothing bad I can say about this gym. It’s got all the equipment you need, it’s not overcrowded, only thing I wish they had was more updated equipment. Happy so far
