Nice gym, two floors of pure gym and workout equipments. Punching bags in the upper level, group classes upper level. Lower level all your workout equipment and cardio. A sauna that is steaming hot and to finalize this location does offer protein shakes. Overall great gym with lots of natural light coming in. Great gym that’s open 24/7. Good amount of free weights, machines, cardio equipment, floor space, and a track that goes around the 2nd floor. This gym allows chalk as well.
The second floor has artificial turf surface, power racks, and an assortment of kettle bells. There is plenty of room to do any type of routine here. This is one of the best gyms in the area.

One of the Worst Gyms I’ve Ever Been Avoid Powerhouse Gym at All Costs
If I could give zero stars, I would. Powerhouse Gym has been an absolute nightmare from the start. This place is a perfect example of how not to run a gym.Staff and Management The staff are incredibly unprofessional, and the management is even worse. I’ve never experienced such a lack of courtesy and respect in any gym. The manager jessica is not only and rude but actually disruptive to the environment. Instead of helping members or addressing issues, they stand around staring gossiping loudly with the staff, laughing, and causing distractions while people are trying to work out. It’s clear they don’t care about member satisfaction at all just taking your money.Don’t be fooled by the name or branding this place is falling apart. Most of the machines are in awful condition rusty cables, broken attachments, cardio machines that barely work, and weight machines that squeak, stick, or don’t function properly at all. Some equipment has been “temporarily out of order” for months. It’s not just frustratingit’s unsafe. For a gym that charges premium prices, this is beyond unacceptable.The cost of membership here is outrageous considering the poor condition of the facility and the toxic staff culture. For the same price or even lessyou can get a much better gym experience somewhere else with better equipment, cleaner facilities, and a professional atmosphere. Powerhouse Gym is a complete ripoff.
I’ve already decided I’m leaving the second my contract ends. If you’re considering joining don’t. Save yourself the money, stress, and disappointment. This place isn’t worth a fraction of what they charge.

I’ve been coming to the powerhouse gym for a few years now. I started doing classes and now I do weight lifting only. I love this place because there is no judgement neither from staff nor from any of the members. There is such a high level of respect from everybody like I’ve never seeing before in another gym! I’m a mom in my late 30’s and I don’t always know what I’m doing and I’m not in the best shape of my life but I have never seeing people laughing or taking videos to post online. You can tell by people’s physique that they really take working out seriously. I also love that they are always improving the equipments, moving things around to make it more comfortable for the members and they are great at communicating what’s going on. There is this lady that does the cleaning, she is the sweetest person, she is always smiling and it seems like she enjoys being there! If you are in doubt about coming, just come! The environment is just right!

I want to love this gym more but for what the price is, it could and should be better.

Good:
-Variety of equipment.
-2 floors.
-24/7
-2 entrances to bathrooms

Bad:
-The Edge is cleaner (I've been to 5 CT locations), but they also have more staff dedicated for this. My primary Edge was also busier than this, and larger but was noticeably cleaner.
-This membership is expensive considering the amount of equipment that has quirks and issues. I price shopped multiple other gyms locally and this was more by a long shot.

Examples of something that's silly to be broken is the interior door handle of the sauna. It's been at least 3 weeks, probably longer, it's not even there. We just adapted to it disappearing. Thats a 10 min after-hours fix...

The only reason I go here is because I moved near here and it fit the check boxes I was looking for. I think people giving it 5's are because they haven't been to other gyms before.

I can’t say enough great things about Powerhouse Gym Middlebury. The gym has everything you need and more — from amazing machines to red light therapy, tanning, and a relaxing sauna. They’ve clearly invested in the space with plenty of recent upgrades, and it shows in the clean, modern, and comfortable environment.

It’s alright but not worth the price. The afternoon staff is young and not very friendly. The girls working just stare at you when you walk in and don’t say hi it’s awkward. They just stand behind the counter and don’t really walk around or anything. Also the equipment is very close together so it’s kinda difficult to maneuver downstairs when it’s busy. I love the upstairs though it is nice. Unfortunately some of people that come here have no spacial awareness and the staff doesn’t care. They will scream across the gym, throw their weights purposely on the ground without caring and leave their stuff all over the hallway in front of the sauna. Overall it’s pretty expensive, the equipment is nice but the staff and crowd is ehh. They sued me after I paid my yearly membership. I don't recall ever signing anything stating after I pay up front I would like to keep getting charged after I paid in full for a year. In addition the cleaners will clean with harsh chemicals while your working out; not great to breath in ammonia while your mid set. If your camera shy also not a good gym option; they have all staff film themselves training with those annoying tripods.

My experience at Powerhouse Gym has been positive ever since joining close to 2 years ago. From the first day I joined as a member, I was always treated with respect and felt welcome. The staff is always positive and ready to help out if there are any questions or concerns. The manager Jen is responsive, friendly, and always looking to help out. If you get hurt and try to cancel, even wirh a Doctors note they will give you issues. I was told that if i sent my doctors note i will have no problem cancelling but got a response from someone named Jennifer Hubert telling me that it’s invalid because I don’t have proof my injury is permanent . My doctors note stated the timeframe to be back in the gym cannot be predetermined because it can’t? That’s not how injuries work. I don’t know when I’m going to get better. That’s the goal but obviously you cannot know for sure. I’ve had chronic pain for MONTHS and have been in several doctors offices chiropractors, physical therapy ,ortho . Theres no point in me continuing to pay a $53 gym membership while I’m injured!! I even started with just doing a freeze on my account which I did for 3 months hoping I would be better after a while and be able to return but unfortunately I’m not better. Jennifer could clearly see this on her end . That should be proof enough including my doctors note that I’ll be out for a while ! I would’ve happily re signed up in the future again if I recovered but I definitely won’t be now. Smh from the looks of other reviews , many others are having this problem. Ridiculous .

They don’t tell you your signing a.contract when your joining the gym. I called office to cancel membership and was told I’m under contract cannot cancel. Due to a car accident and losing my job which I specifically stated to them they didn’t care. All they cared about was not canceling membership so they can steal my money. I don’t typically write negative reviews and really try to correct things with the business first. Well that has not worked.. so maybe this review will save others the trouble.
I have been trying to cancel my membership for months now. I initially called in August and was told to email them if I wanted to cancel. I emailed a few weeks ago letting them know to please cancel my membership and stop the direct deposit at the end of my contract. I let them know I was aware I had two months payments left, I just wanted it cancelled after final payment. I received no reply.
I messaged them a few more times and finally got a reply back from Andrew Pinon. He told me they now needed a credit card from me to charge the final payment? I said the final payment is coming out via direct deposit and I should not need to give my credit card info (especially via email).
Fast forward a few weeks and my final payment has been delivered via direct deposit. I emailed Andrew twice over the past two weeks confirming that my membership has been cancelled successfully. No reply. He will not answer me.
This is not a big or unusual request, I’m trying to cancel and this just confirms my reasons why. If someone from Powerhouse would like to reply, you know my email.

my experience has been very good, I found the gym with a very good space! several devices, with a great reception, I was super well attended, exceeded my expectations! Without a doubt, the best gym in the area! ❤️

My experience with this gym was absolutely horrendous.
The equipment was often out of service. The staff was barely friendly or helpful.
And then when illness struck and I needed to cancel my membership because I physically couldn’t go anymore, a truly cruel experience was had.
I was hung up on, my emails ignored for months. When I finally got someone to respond to me they told me they would cancel it after a back and forth of gaslighting me about not being able to see my emails in real time. No reimbursement for the many months begging them to stop, as my account was charged, and my family was suffering financially.
I thought it was over and then they sent bogus charges to a collection agency.
Shameful.

Update:
Someone reached out to me from the gym upon seeing my review. They managed to have the collections agency reimburse me for my recent payment which I made out of fear basically because they were very aggressive about negatively reporting to my credit. I do appreciate that, however, this should have never happened in the first place. This recent helpfulness was contingent on me updating my review.

Staff is very welcoming and helpful. I didn't feel intimidated when I walked in. On my first morning there anyone I passed by said hello and good morning. Loved the classes

Membership dues are very high, the weight machines are poor quality and old while overall selection of machines is not great. Also when you go to cancel after your contract is up you are going to be charged an additional month of dues just for canceling, take your money up the road to universal gym, membership prices are far more reasonable and the equipment there is 10x better.
