The way RTL has changed my LIFE! I can’t say enough great things about this place. The personalized semi-private coaching is top-tier. The equipment is infinite. The community and events make you want to go back day after day. The care the coaches give you through whatever victories and problems you have is heartwarming and empowering. I love how female-friendly and female-oriented the gym is, which is a huge requirement for me to feel comfortable.
I have been coming here 3x a week for about 4-5 months. In this time, I have gained so much confidence in working out and can see some obvious results in my physique and ability. I know my coaches care about me because they check on my progress often and challenge me to push myself. I LOVE this gym and the people I’ve met here on a personal level. I had been away from the gym for about 3 1/2 years and have back issues. I needed to get back into a routine gym structure and since day 1, Paul and his staff have been nothing but supportive and helpful in getting me back in a routine and feeling great! The staff are so polite and courteous and right there with you to ensure you are using the correct techniques when lifting.

Anyone who has been out of the gym with an injury and looking to get back - Paul is the right mentor. I stopped working out for 8 months due to chronic low back pain and nerve pain in my both arms. This was a huge negative impact on my mental and physical health. I loved working out. Paul has got me back to doing what I love (lifting heavy; squat, deadlift, bench) I’m working out 3 days a week, pain free and getting stronger (inside and out of the gym.) Paul adjusts your program based on your individual needs. His ideology and education has been invaluable. Worth every penny and excited to continue to push/train with Paul! From the first day I came to sign up, through all my workouts and challenges I have had only good experiences! Paul runs a very professional, yet relaxed and fun gym. All of the staff from the front desk, Casey and Stephanie to the coaches are helpful and professional! The coaches I’ve worked with most are Paul, Morgan, Claire and Ryan. All have been so helpful as I work to get stronger and especially when I’ve had challenges! I recommend this gym to everyone of all ages and abilities!

$120 a month for 1/5th of a gym.
I'm an ex-personal trainer with an extensive background in exercise physiology, optimal performance training and personal nutrition.
The span of equipment is piecemeal, inexhaustive, anti-holistic and far from comprehensive.
Machines are absolutely essential for endurance training, since SAFE endurance demands time under tension utilizing artificially stabilized ranges of motion across the complete muscle action spectrum to fix performance inadequacies and weaknesses in one's kinetic linking across the muscle action spectrum.
In other words, you cannot train endurance safely, nor reliably.
The gym wastes valuable floorspace with far too many squat racks, which creates a situation where RTL has 1/5th diversity of equipment relative to The Edge for 5x the price of a membership at The Edge.
Forget dumbbell training. Yes. There are dumb-bells, but not the space to support set for drop sets or supersets, which an exhaustive dumbbell regimen is going to rquire. You're going to have to train straight bar for bench, which is as obsolete and anti-functional a movement as movements get, especially since straight bar benches are notorious for rotator cuff injuries at advanced levels.
You're not going to realize an advanced level of development here. All the value is offered through the hands on training, which means: if you know exactly what you're doing, how to do it, and why, the gym is completely useless to you.
Don't pay $100 a month for 1/5th of the service you can get from an LA Fitness, The Edge, or - dare I say it - Planet Fitness.
Fitness Training Lab is an absurdity.

Best gym ever! I will never go anywhere else. They care and work one on one with you. I never went to the gym because I didn’t know what to do or the proper way to work out. RTL writes your program for you and if you do the work you see results within the first few weeks. I highly recommend joining this gym. It is worth every penny !!

I truly cannot say how incredibly impactful Resilient has been on my health. I came to the gym with a significant shoulder injury. From day one I was listened to, advised and assessed with a level of care and expertise that blew me away. The trainers created a program that increased strength and mobility and most importantly reduced pain. While I’m moving forward with surgery, I feel I’m in a great position to recover nicely. I have been training for approximately 30 years and Resilient Training Lab, hands down, is the best facility in the area. Members have access to individual racks each stacked with weight, specialty bars, sandbags varying from light to heavy (250+), deadlift platforms, strongman equipment, two separate dumbbell areas, kettlebells, sleds, medicine balls again from light to heavy, bands/chains and a two turfed areas. The atmosphere however is what, in my opinion, makes this gym work. Paul and his team have made this a welcome space for all. From the very beginner to the seasoned vet, everyone is treated the same. Members are pushed in a positive way to exceed goals they never thought possible. RTL is the gold standard for what a training facility should look like, sound like and be like.

I began my journey with Resilient Training Lab in September 2023. I wasn't sure I'd stick with it but I gave it a try, and I am so glad that I did! The workouts are great and I can see the changes in my body. But the biggest reason I've stayed is the unwavering support I've gotten from the coaches!
This past year was difficult with regards to my personal life. I didn't make exercise my priority so I fell off. But it didn't go unnoticed. I got weekly text messages from coaches, Paul and Claire inquiring about my well-being, my mental health and they even gave me exercise routines I could do from home. They were consistent in their communications with me and it made such a difference during such a difficult time in my life. I dont believe I would still be going to Resilient if it weren't for that. Even now that I've become more consistent with going to the gym, Ill get a quick message saying "great job today" or "keep up the strong work"!!!! I feel seen and I LOVE striving for the next goal. Not only do they want you to reach your fitness goals, they care about you as a person. I highly recommend Resilient Training Lab to anyone who wants to make fitness a part of their lives. Resilient has such a holistic take on how they train their members. You can't go wrong!

I cannot say enough great things about RTL. The coaches and members are amazing and always so welcoming. I have been going to RTL since it’s opening. I have been able to continue to train through injuries (not training related) because of the incredible and knowledgeable coaches. They know how to modify all exercises and change goals so that I am able to continue to work around an injury. I would have been not able to consistently train this way without RTL. I was recommended by a provider to have surgery on my back about two years ago.I did not want to have surgery for multiple reasons. With the help of my coach who writes my program and all of the other RTL coaches, I was able to work around my injury and only now have become stronger and pain free without ever needing to undergo such a significant surgery. I cannot imagine where I would be without the support and expertise. RTL is my special place away from home where I not only train but get to connect with like minded individuals who have become like a second family to me. My 12-year-old daughter now trains at RTL with her own program that is helping increase her strength and is supporting her in gymnastics. I have seen her grow in both strength and confidence in just six months. She always looks forward to training and has come to look forward to seeing staff and coaches who have welcomed her with open arms since day one.

I am thankful for the 2 months of training that I have had with this team. I was only going to train for the summer (I am a teacher) but after this awesome experience, I have decided to continue. I love the workouts, which they have specifically tailored to my needs and work schedule. Love these folks!! I joined Resilient in January on the hybrid plan, and it's been the perfect plan for my schedule and preferences. I have a trainer, Ryan, creating a workout routine for me, and there are large blocks of time evey day where trainers are on site and available to help walk me through new exercises and help me improve my form. I can also show up any time of the day and work out on my own - 24/7 access!
Beyond that, I love this place because it is the first gym I've been part of that has a truly human, intentional touch. Nobody tries to sell you products you don't want or convince you that fitness is best measuredby your weight or body composition - no fat shaming! They don't sell supplements or protein shakes. They are very careful to ease you into your workout routine to avoid injury. Paul, the owner, did my initial tour and assessment, and whenever I'm away for very long, he always checks in by email to make sure all is well. Most impressive to me, when I had an upper respiratory infection for the better part of a month, Paul checked in, and when he found out I'd been sick, he didn't charge me for the time I'd been out. I don't think that is treatment I could expect anywhere else.
For strength training, there's no better option around! Totally worth the price if you can swing it.

I am so glad that I joined Resilient Training Lab! All of the coaches and other members have been so welcoming and encouraging, and I felt comfortable there from the very start!
Their facility is open 24 hours, it’s spotless, and they have so much space and well-maintained equipment, so I never had to wait for anything to be available for my workouts. I am struggling to find something that compares to RTL where I live now, and RTL has set the bar incredibly high for me! I’m lucky that I get to take the programming with me as a remote member and continue my routine (shoutout to my coach, Clare!)
RTL has absolutely changed my life for the better, and I am so glad that I found it when I did— I just wish that I joined it sooner!

I hesitantly stumbled into RTL after looking for a new gym community in January 2024. I tried it out for a month in February and it’s been a beautiful, strength gaining journey since! Incredible fitness lab! Large space, 24hr access, equipment to do any kind of workout and friendly people and coaches. Personally I needed a place to train on bars and rings with unrestricted access. Other similar centers in the area are much smaller and with limited open gym access. Resilient lab is quite a find!

Best gym in New Haven area for powerlifting! I wish I had spent more time training here but between work between here and Virginia it was nearly impossible. (Plus my depression took over unfortunately to the point I backed out of my next meet in May). Here's to my next chapter and hopefully getting back into training ASAP. Cheers. *addition: If you are in Connecticut and around this area, I highly recommend RTL! I am a travel nurse and I found it difficult to have consistency whenever I move from one place to another. RTL made it possible for me to find consistency due to being 24/7, not to mention the coaches that are always encouraging even if I only see them briefly since I usually go in around 4am. All the equipments you’d ever need are in there and plenty of stations to use!

This is hands down one the best and least intimidating gym I've ever been to. The staff is very knowledgeable and supportive and always answers even the rookiest questions. Everyone working out at the gym is friendly and at different phases in their fitness journey. Whether you're lifting big or just trying to get moving, I cannot recommend this place enough!

This gym is amazing, been going for about 4 months at this point. All the coaches are amazing, you can ask them anything and they are more than happy to answer. The place is well kept, bathrooms are clean. Equipment is well kept, and they have everything you need and more. If you don't know how to use something, they will show you. I have been working directly with coach Ryan for a little over 3 months now. I've enjoyed my prescribed training so much that I've been consistent have not missed a single day. Ryan is approachable and makes an effort to reach out to me to see how my training is going during the week - if there is something that needs to be adjusted he's quick on it. I train primarily from my home gym, or from my friend's home gym, while we both have the necessary equipment, we don't have the complete arsenal that commercial / specialized gym offers. Even without the luxury of training in a specialized facility Ryan has programmed training for me that works with the equipment I have available, and i'm still able to reach my goals/ see progress.
Prior to working with Ryan, I was training with a close friend who is coached by Paul (owner/founder of RTL). For almost two years I was following the program prescribed to my friend and always loved the training and saw serious progress - legitimately got the strongest i've ever been and had my best performances at my 2 most recent powerlifting meets in Nov 2021 and March 2022. I am currently 15 weeks pregnant - so my training has changed somewhat over the last few months but I appreciate the evidence/science based approach that the RTL coaches bring to the table. I highly recommend Ryan, and all of the coaches at RTL.

There's a ton of equipment that's very nicely organized, so it makes grabbing and putting away stuff super easy and quick. This gym is the white whale of gyms.
The facility is state of the art and stacked to the teeth with equipment. You will never wait for anything. But the real value in this gym is in the coaching staff.
The coaches are world-class. Seriously, I haven't even considered another coach since I left as I know they will pale in comparison.
Their close guidance and programming led me to make insane progress I never thought was possible. The "open style" of coaching allows you to receive direct coaching yet not feel babysat at the same time. And the staff are just great to be around. I miss them not only as coaches, but as friends.
Unfortunately I moved away, but every day I step into my current gym, I am disappointed it is not Resilient. I cannot recommend this gym enough. Training here is an investment you will not regret.

I have been with Paul for a total of 6 years, 2 years in-person, and 4 years remote. Paul and his team have completely changed the way I approach fitness and strength. Prior to working with Paul I was repeatedly injuring myself as an avid runner and early AM boot-camp attendee. Paul was referred to me via a PT who was helping me nurse an injured shoulder back to health. Paul not only directed me to strengthen the injured joint but introduced a new outlook on strength that emphasized keeping myself strong to change the trajectory of possible (and probable in my case) future injuries. This was a massive change for me in my physical fitness routine, and a substantial departure from how I used to think about strength injuries. After 6 years with Paul and his team, I am stronger than ever, both physically and mentally. They are willing to work with you wherever you are and keep you directed toward any goal you might have. When Paul took over my coaching, I was dealing with some pretty significant back pain whilst deadlifting and some consistent shoulder pain whilst benching.
With Pauls help, I was able to still train heavy and often and quickly resolved those issues - and got back to hitting PRs. When I look back at the progress I have made while under the elite eye of Coach Paul I am so proud of the strong women I have become and look forward to every session with Paul as I will only get stronger. My training with Paul has made me mentally and physically stronger and given me confidence to push myself and never settle for easy! He genuinely cares about all of his clients and brings a level of expertise that is focused on individual growth. I recognize and appreciate Paul’s thirst for knowledge as he is always expanding his expertise in the fields of strength and conditioning, program design and power lifting. Then if this isn’t enough he has fostered a culture of community both in and out of the gym. He leads by example and supports us both inside and outside of the gym developing our strengths and supporting our community efforts.

Paul is one of the best coaches I have ever had. He understands the mind-body connection like no other! With his oversight I have come back from injury and was able to learn how to self-regulate my workouts on stressful days. I feel like a more competent and confident lifter with Paul as my coach!
