There isnβt enough bouldering gyms around CT or recreation areas for adults in general. This place has everything, rotating routes, equipment, refreshments, and what I think is fairly priced membership. Staff is very friendly, too.

Real talk - RCF will forever hold a special place in my heart for as long as I climb. I have been a member for years now, and even though I don't live as close and can't go as often as I used to, I still refer to it as my home gym. Yes, they have fantastic facilities, and the routes are both challenging and creative, and there are plenty of places around for post-climb food and hanging out. That's enough for a good review, but what makes this place the best in my mind is the community. From the very beginning, the staff and the other climbers have been super welcoming, and while the faces have changed, the spirit remains the same. Talking beta, discussing shoes, and just hanging out on the pads - the community is always so engaged with each other and I appreciate them so much for it. Shout out to Brian, Safin, Michaela, Sae, Julia, and the other staff both past and present. You've all had a positive impact on my climbing journey over the years; you may not remember, but I do!

Great gym, tons of cracks in the sport walls which is great to see with all the new gyms popping up and catering towards the comp crowd. I do wish there were some crack boulders or that you could boulder on the sport walls up to eye height, but these aren't deal breakers or anything.

Friendly staff, decent actual gym section, has bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. Overall a good climbing gym!
Though, I wish the lead wall can get the same attention the bouldering and top rope get-route resetting wise. Going 3 months now and I would majority of the routes are still the same.

Maybe just got a bad time. First time here. Forced into a waiver before anything was explained. Paid for a harness when we only wanted to boulder, no questions were ever asked and just alot of assumptions. On top of that our nephew wasn't allowed on the normal boulder wall with us. Which we found out after. Now he's been climbing with us before at other gyms. So basically we went to climb with our nephew. Couldn't. And paid for extra stuff and day passes which I'm sure we will get a refund on. At least no questions on the refund.

Best of the best!! π€©
Love the staff, the community, and what the gym has to offer. Super inclusive, not intimidating, and very friendly! Thereβs so many route/climbing options (bouldering, top rope, lead), plenty of auto-belays (great if you come alone), aerial silks, and a gym and yoga studio as well. They also host different community events.
I have been on several outdoor climbs with staff which have always been amazing!! I learned lead climbing with Matt and felt very safe and supported the whole time. Heβs super knowledgable!
Also met some friends for life through RCF. Canβt say enough wonderful things about this place. Thank you Matt and RCF staff!! π€π€π€ love yβall

The lady that ran this place years ago is potentially a huge scam artist. I bought a harness here which they had me try on first then I tried to return it never having used it. She caused a hige commotion and acted like I was doing something wrong and said it was used bc there was a chalk mark or something. It was from when they had me try it on OR THEY SOLD me a USED harness! Also lost my chalk bag here then saw they had ONE on their shelf for sale of the same kind days later when they'd been out of that one prior ..scam artists. The girl is a huge jerk. How dare she. Also can be an UNSaFE environment- I had someone fall ON TOP of me while I was walking by bc they were bouldering where you should ONlY be belaying. Management paid nO attention.

I have been climbing here for a few months. I am extremely lucky to have RCF as my local gym. Iβve been to a few others across the east coast, however RCF stays on top for a few reasons.
Whilst I cannot offer insight on the routes as I exclusively boulder, all of the problems set are incredible. Each week, the boulders in one out of the five Boulder locations are completely replaced with fresh, new climbs. Each area is unique with cave climbs to slab climbs given equal love by the fantastic setters. Oftentimes at bouldering gyms, I find that a lot of attention is focused on one form of climbing. Thankfully, RCF does not fall in to this trap.
Secondly, the community at RCF is very welcoming and inclusive. It is not rare to celebrate after completing a new climb and be offered a fist bump by a complete stranger. Additionally, beta is usually only a question away with everyone at the gym being extremely helpful. This praise is not very exclusive to RCF and can be applied to the climbing community as a whole to be completely honest. But, what is exclusive to RCF is how welcoming it is to all age groups. I have seen people as young as 13 working on the same problems as someone 60+ years of age. It really is a great environment. I guess in this section I should also mention how helpful the staff have been; RCF really checks all the boxes for what makes the climbing community so great.
Finally, RCF is a VERY high quality rock climbing gym. From the bathrooms to the walls themselves, the building feels clean. Sometimes, climbing gyms feel musty and dust-covered. This is most certainly not the case at Rock Climb Fairfield! On a separate note, an entire corner of the gym is sectioned off and filled with exercise machines, hang boards, weights, and pull-up bars. Sometimes I end up coming to the gym for the machines alone! Lastly, Rock Climb Fairfield has a Kilter Board. Itβs just the cherry on the top for such a phenomenal gym.
This is my first review Iβve ever left on google, but I just had to make sure I wrote one for RCF!

Okay. Time for an honest review from someone who is not a parent and/or first time climberβ¦This is the first time Iβve ever felt compelled to leave a Google review.
Really want to love this place. Have lived in many areas and belonged to many climbing gyms, but Iβve never experienced anything like this before.
This place is a climbing wonderland if you are under the age of 18/21. Otherwise, if you work a 9-5 job, it is a glorified daycare center run by high school βcoachesβ who do not care what the kids theyβre βwatchingβ do. Super disappointing considering the potential.
I understand catering to younger crowds and think itβs great to get them into climbing, but at least have some morning hours (doesnβt open until 10 am) so adults can climb without fear of crushing a child thatβs running around unsupervised beneath themβ¦Or ask your βcoachesβ to, ya know, actually watch and manage the kids rather than sit around bro-ing out with their friends while the kids have domain over the gym. Iβve never experienced such disregard for safety in any climbing gym/youth climbing group. Or just disregard for other climbers. It really feels like youβre unwelcome if you are not new to climbing or a child/family.
Iβve lived in the area on and off for about 10 years, and itβs only gotten worse with time. There are a few older staff members who are fantastic, and I hate to give them a bad review. But the majority of the staff just donβt seem to care and parents are nonexistent.
Route wise: They reset the boulders often (thatβs what the kids climb, mostly). Top-rope much less frequently (saw stuff up from May at end of September). Lead wall is almost never resetβsame routes on most areas for years, seemingly.
Otherwise, they have a great lil climbing shop, semi-frequent demos from reputable brands, a kilter board, and a nice sized traditional workout area. If you can visit during off hours, youβve found your gym. If not, be preparedβ¦

Really great place fairly priced and workers are really kind. I have been here a while back and I remember having a good time! This time though the only reason for the four stars is because i noticed there were less walls with the automatic belay. Itβs almost as if they want to push sales to purchase the help or certification to belay to use more of the walls. If there was less βbeginnersβ it wouldβve been better but with lots of beginners and less walls there was times we had to repeat a wall or wait for a new one. Besides that definitely go and try itβs fun!

RCF seems really great for rope-climbing. Auto-belays, top rope, and lead. I mostly stick to the bouldering however. I took off a star for the bouldering but its not super beginner friendly. There are certainly some good problems there, but not so much for those at lower levels. Apart from a small kids wall with a handful of ladder-like (boring) problems, there are only a few climbs below V2 grade. And the V2s feel very tough compared to the other gyms I've visited. There is a sweet kilter board, a bouldering cave, and top-out opportunities though all of which is really nice.

Purchased punch pass for climbing during COVID time, I'm also a resident physician with unpredictable duty hours. Was hoping to climb at a window that overlaps their designated "sessions" but was told that I'll have to pay for two punch passes even if I only stay a total of 1.5 to 2 hrs. This is despite they have over 25 slots available and would in no way exceed their capacity limits. The day passes should not be marketed as "day" pass if they are only good for one session. People who can't travel to this gym has to get day passes instead of a membership but it's disheartening how this company "supports" health care professionals, while trying to convince me that they have the best prices? The capacity limit is a rule to help protect the community not your excuse to rip off your guests

Great place to spend an afternoon. reasonably priced per day. rentals are cheap. membership is a good way to save some money if you plan on going more than once a week. I love the environment here it's unlike a lot of other places where you would go to work out. There is an air of immediate friendship when you and another person get stuck on the same wall and puzzle it out together. They have weekly meetups if you are looking for a partner to climb with which I highly recommend, but you can alway rent a coach to belay you as well. All skill levels are welcome and you will definitely find something you can climb weather you need something as easy as climbing a ladder or you want to push yourself on the lead wall.

Phenomenal place to take your child. I was so proud of my son when he kept progressing to new heights. All of the regulars were really supportive of him as well. He ran around the place a bit and some of them played with him which made us both feel very welcome.
They are constantly switching up the rock walls to give variety. Plenty of parking outside and the staff is informative and tentative.
They even have a gym if your looking to stay fit while picking up a new hobby. I would have joined but I work out at 5 am and they donβt open until 7 am. My schedule wouldnβt allow it but if my son continues to show interest I will be getting a membership and climbing up walls and be laying down!

My husband and I came to RCF for a "date night" after the suggestion from my friend and I cannot believe that this hidden treasure has been in our backyard this whole time! We've both never rock-climbed before (besides at Ludlowe in middle school!) but the auto-belays were super simple to figure out and we had a ton of fun!

Love this place, eager to see the improvements done! It would be nice if I could go to the gym before work, there are no gyms open in this area earlier than 10am. I'd be willing to bet you would get more business opening at 6am (even 5am) instead of 10am. Be the first to do it!

I've been to over fifteen climbing gyms, including out in the western states where they are often quite large with many amenities. This stacks up with the best in terms of the volume of climbing available, and the prices are better than those huge gyms out west. I was surprised to see people calling it overpriced.
This place is great with managing the younger population in the gym. Sometimes I don't notice that the team practices are on because they don't take over the place.
The only bit of feedback I have is that I wish new boulders got set more frequently. I recently was gone for over a month and came back to what appeared to be the (exact?) same set...maybe the top rope and lead wall were getting more attention? Also, given that the autobelays upstairs see so much traffic, it would be nice if they were set more frequently.

How can you review a family?
How can you quantify some of the best times of your life with a few gold stars?
I've been climbing at Rock Climb Fairfield since it grew out of the previous gym Carabiners. While I admit in full disclosure, I used to work at Carabiners. I can tell you first hand, how improved the climbing, the management, the facility and overall experience has become and continues to improve. I've been climbing for decades now and have climbed all over this great nation and I'm proud to call RCF my home gym. The holds and volumes are quality and recent , the indoor terrain interesting, the setting is challenging and spans a great range of difficulty.
In addition, I've recently enrolled in some personal training , and while I could always open even the most stubborn of jam jars, I've seen some amazing gains in overall strength, flexibility and health. The weight room has a great range of heavy things, equipment and supplies for nearly any routine.
Lastly, it's the community that I love the most. I've met some of my best friends through this gym that have enriched my life in countless ways. I consider RCF to be a part of me, that makes me healthy, happy and fulfilled. Big thanks to Matt and the entire staff for making RCF such a great place.

Had a lovely belay class with Jose as the instructor. Clear concise instructions, friendly, personable and easy to work with. Come back a week and a half later for the test, and the instructor I worked with a) gave me a harness that didnβt fit and b) failed me because I couldnβt provide the answers she wanted in the format she was looking for. Despite the fact that how she was asking questions was not the same way that it was taught. If your expectation is that people will be perfect at something after a single demonstration and practice session, then maybe you shouldnβt be teaching or testing in the first place. I have zero desire to ever try climbing at this facility again, and honestly have lost much interest in trying rock climbing at all. Thanks for that.

I started by bringing the kids for a climb, then they joined, then I joined, now we all climb. Fun, friendly and helpful staff, exciting, clean, safety obsessed... Great workout and so much more fun than lifting. We all love this place.

I checked this place out for the first time today and couldnβt be happier with what I encountered! Iβm an amateur climber who is absolutely petrified of heights, but loves being a thrill seeker who tries to push past my fears in any way, shape, or form. This place has it all! They have all sorts of walls and obstacles to climb as well as a cardio section and gym! The staff was insanely friendly, genuine, motivational, and helpful in not only getting me started, but also by pushing me to my absolute limits and getting me closer to overcoming my fear. Thanks Andrew! You guys rock π€πΌπ§‘

Avid climber and have been to rock gyms all over the US - this gym and staff are 10/10! Highly recommend! Excellent bouldering, tall walls with auto belays, and challenging lead routes. Membership prices are very fair and gym is clean. Great for beginners as well!!
