A pillar of the Southington community. Offers a lot of classes for adults and kids. There is a preschool program across the street and in the upstairs of the main building. They also have child care right off the front desk area where you can drop off your child while you work out. Great cardio and weight strength machines. They also have a gymnasium for basketball, pickleball and there are also racquetball courts. Cannot forget about the pool. No parking issues it is a large lot with extra parking in the back of the building. And best of all the facilities are CLEAN.

Been a member for one month. The gym is great and the classes I’ve tried were fun. Big fan of the sauna! But what in the world is going on with the pool hours? I don’t know why the pool is even really advertised when the times to access it for open swim are so spotty and limited. We joined just for a month to start… and the very limited weekend pool hours were fully cancelled two weekends in a row F, Sat, Sun due to apple harvest. I have been trying to use the pool since I’ve started and not once have been able to access open swim in the short, specific, and odd hours available. I’ve looked at other YMCAs which all seem to have more reasonable hours. It’s been a bit disappointing, and may lead us to try elsewhere.

Staff is friendly, child watch is nice, I like the layout of the gym. The turf is nice. The lobby space is nice as well.

Extremely disappointed with 'customer support' here. The Spirit Mind Body Center (which is wonderful with incredible instructors!) was closed for approximately two weeks due to an HVAC issue. These things happen but this was not well communicated, we checked the website multiple times and never saw any mention of this, making us waste time driving to/from the Y. It took over a week to get in touch with someone, we left a voice mail, we we're told "she'll call you back in an hour" another time, etc. When we finally got in touch and inquired about getting a partial refund for the month since the classes that fit our schedule were all closed and we only signed up FOR the SMBC, we were told no because we could have gone to "any Y in the state" and "we'd have to do that for everyone". YES, you SHOULD do that for everyone who was inconvenienced! We pay for a service and we were not able to access that service for half the time we paid for! If your cable goes out for 2 weeks the cable company doesn't say "well you could have used local television or netflix", they issue you a partial refund. It's really easy to say "go to another Y" but the other 2 Y's within similar distance don't offer the classes we take at times we are able to take them and other branches are a much farther drive so that's not a solution. We squeeze our classes into our tight schedule and don't have a lot of wiggle room so these answers come off as really disrespectful & tone deaf. We've been members for the last 8 months and will be reconsidering our membership at the start of the new year as we look for an alternative. Again, want to reiterate the instructors/staff in the Spirit Mind Body Center are wonderful and deserve all the praise, they're the only reason we haven't cancelled our membership already.

Dossapointed with new rule that's not consistent across all locations or clear on the website. I had a car issue but made the effort to visit as a guest for the first time this year, only to be denied entry after 12 PM on a Saturday. This is the first time I have encountered such a policy at any YMCA, as I typically attend my home location and have visit led other branches as a guest once or twice a year.

I was surprised and frustrated that this restriction was not clearly outlined on the website, leaving me to travel all the way to the facility only to be turned away. It makes me wonder why the Southington YMCA is the only location with this rule, especially compared to other YMCAs across Connecticut.

"I had a fantastic experience at the YMCA! The facility is well-maintained, consistently clean, and offers a welcoming atmosphere. The reception staff is friendly and always helpful. I especially appreciate the quality child care services provided, which makes it convenient for families. The director is dynamic and engaging, ensuring that there's always a wide variety of activities to participate in. Overall, it's a great community space that keeps you active and involved!" -Gagan

**Update- I appreciate the manager taking the time out of their day to call me and apologize to me about this interaction! I am changing my review for how the manager reacted to this!

I loved coming the Y but I am about ready to cancel my membership after how rude some of the workers have been to me. One of the workers, an older women with brown hair and glasses, on Sunday May 5th rudely opened and slammed the sauna door yelling at me β€œI’m closing the door in 5 minutes”. Mind you there was 7 minutes left to closing time. I understand you want to leave, I’ve worked in retail before, but there is no need to talk and treat someone like that. I am only giving this 2 stars because I do enjoy this gym, but I do not enjoy the way I was treated or spoken too.

I recently joined so I could take Pickleball lessons. The woman at the front desk processing my membership was very friendly and helpful. There are three pickleball courts in use at any given time. Once is reserved for beginners like myself. Our instructor was Brandon, who was excellent. I have had instruction from others in the past but Brandon was the best. The Southington YMCA offers a lot beyond pickleball and really is a great organization. I look forward to spending a lot more time here.

Wow! I have been to many Y branches, and this one by far is the most cleanly, with modern lockers, brand new equipment, big shower stalls & cool coffee lounge areas :)

We moved in August 2018. We needed a Preschool where my daughter would be challenged. While she was born in early July and old enough to go to Kindergarten she was not emotionally or mature enough to be in Kindergarten. We are great full for the Southington Y to have the Jump Start Program.

Any parent who is on the fence about their child and age. We recommend that you check out Jump Start. As a CT certified Teacher I often ask parents while it doesn’t matter in elementary school think down the road to high school. Do you want your 14 year old in a classroom with 16 year olds who are learning how to drive?

I wish we had moved a year ago. So my son could have taken advantage of Jump Start. Waiting a year has made all the difference for my children.

Very disappointed!!!! Trying to get in touch with Swim instructor named Barbara to register to Private Swim lessons before become a member. I have left many messages and no reply for a week. It looks like they don't need anymore members. I have just moved to Southington. I am going to the Y in Meriden.

We are members of the Cheshire branch. Today was my first time using the Southington facility. It’s very nice and clean, locker rooms are newer looking and clean.

I had lost my key tag and the front desk helped out with no problem. Great experience.

Very rude on the phone, all I had was a simple question about 'child watch' and received everything but an answer. I was put on hold 3 times just to be interrupted before I could even ask the question by the different individuals I was directed to.
I guess I will continue to travel the extra miles to Waterbury's Y where at least their customer service is welcoming.
