I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years, yet I’ve never experienced anything quite like this. When I first walked into this studio, I was in a rough place—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I felt unsure about the people I would encounter, how full the room would be, whether I could breathe in the heat, and if I could move my body enough to get through a single class.

That first class was uncomfortable, but the instructor shared something at the end that resonated deeply with me. I cried. In that moment, I realized I had to come back. Somehow, this new space, filled with people I felt I didn’t belong with and led by a perfect stranger, provided exactly what I needed.

Now, a year later, every time I step into the studio, it feels equally rewarding. Each instructor brings something unique to class, and the energy from everyone in the room becomes a powerful force that fuels our practice. Here, I can focus on my breath and movement so deeply that it feels as if I’m the only one in the room, yet I'm also enveloped by a supportive community surrounding my mat.

This may sound dramatic for a review of a yoga studio, but Sweatfluence has truly changed my life in a profound way, and I am incredibly grateful.

My personal opinions to FAQ: Friendly and helpful staff, great customer service, beautiful, clean, inviting space, state of the art heating/humidity system (never “stuffy” and somehow smells great no matter how full the class is), fair and affordable pricing, good for all levels of practice and fitness, traditional and familiar yet creative and thoughtful routines, extra workshops and one on one sessions available, judgement free vibes, mat rental available (also mats and other yoga essentials available for purchase) clean bathroom, changing rooms and personal belonging storage available, great music, free and ample parking.

Such a calming environment, and a great place for all on their yoga journey. I took a class with Meg, and she gave options for each pose based on how comfortable you felt with its challenges.

This studio helped me find my breath again.

Sweatfluence is more than a yoga space — it’s a community built on presence, warmth, and respect. Whether you’ve been practicing for years or just stepping on the mat for the first time, you’ll feel welcome. Every class I’ve taken has been guided with clarity and care. There’s no ego here. Just real people, real healing, and a chance to show up for yourself.

The space is beautiful, the energy is grounding, and I always leave better than I arrived.

Big thanks to Courtney and the team — I appreciate you.

Be good. Be humble. 🌸

New to OS, I found this to be a welcoming environment. Everyone at the front desk is always smiling. Classes are good. Wish more true vinyasa classes were offered. The “power” classes don’t allow for full pose expression and often sacrifice form for speed.

Such an amazing studio and overall friendly staff and great service. Absolutely LOVE taking Carolyn's classes - she's an amazing instructor who incorporates such unique sequences into her routines. She also goes out of her way to connect with her students and make everyone feel welcome which just heightens the sense of community in her classes. Thank you!

I’ve been coming here for hot yoga for a few years now. I’m about to hit my 400th class. It has changed my mental outlook and my physical body for the better. My totally honest story is that the first time I came I hated it. It was so uncomfortably hot and challenging. I told the friend who brought me some not very nice things and that I was “never going back”. Well... I found my way back. I signed up for some extra workshops to learn basics and breath work. The instructors were very supportive and non-judgmental as I found my footing. I got stronger and I became able to tolerate more heat and more challenge as the classes racked up. I still find it very hot and very challenging, but I’m super inspired by all the amazing instructors and other students here. People of all levels are welcomed and accommodated. They always have killer playlists to keep you motivated. The studio could not be cleaner. For how sweaty we get - it never ever smells bad at all when you walk in here...quite the opposite in fact. I love the simple decor and soft lighting. There are no distractions in the studio or weird murals on the walls. The effect is calming in this chaotic over-stimulating world. The focus is on your practice. It’s addictive in the very best way.

I have been doing hot power yoga for nine years. Courtney taught the first class that I ever attended, I was immediately hooked! I have gone to the gym. I have done Orangetheory. I have done body pump. I have done Boot Camp. I have done barre, but nothing compares to this experience. I am from Middletown and drive all the way down to old Saybrook just to go to Soul Sweat. I love walking in the door and being greeted by Rachel who is so warm and inviting and makes you feel like you are at home. I hear her talking to new students and she is professional and cordial and inviting. I have never been to a yoga studio with this kind of state-of-the-art heat. I love the steam and I love the teachers. They all have different styles, but they are all absolutely incredible at their craft. I love a challenge so I love Kat’s classes on Tuesday evening. I also love attending Meg’s class who does all levels. Gennifer, Carolyn and Vicki are also amazing! I am so grateful for the studio and for the wonderful people I have met in the incredible staff. Anything that Courtney does she does to perfection. The studio speaks to that ! Thank you Soul Sweat!

I’ve been attending Soul Sweat Old Saybrook classes for 3 years now and I can’t say enough about It. I’ve brought many friends and family members and they all have had a wonderful experience. Each class brings a different experience, and you learn to understand each instructors preferences and teachings. Personally, I have always found Vicky’s and Meghan’s to be perfect after working all day, since I lean toward more of a slower class. But all the instructors offer something very unique and are always welcoming to beginners. Also, shout out to Rachel who welcome everyone at the door, knows everyone’s name and makes you feel part of the community.

My only suggestion would be to reduce the amount people during the busy season since It can get crowded on certain days. Also I would love to see more sales on class packages since I don’t always like committing to a membership.

I’ve been coming to Saybrook soul sweat yoga studio for about a year now, and it’s truly become one of the best parts of my weekly routine. The energy in the room, the heat, the flow everything just clicks. The instructors are incredible; supportive, knowledgeable, and they somehow know exactly when to push you and when to let you breathe.

It’s the kind of place that makes you look forward to sweating, stretching, and showing up for yourself. I’ve brought all of my friends, and now they’re just as obsessed. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, this studio meets you exactly where you are. Highly, highly recommend!

I discovered this studio last November, and have been hooked ever since! Anyone can walk in there and join a class. The instructors and class participants are all welcoming and as helpful as you want them to be. They encourage everyone to truly practice at their own level and it makes for a positive experience. The instructors carefully curate the movement of the class to expertly flow with the music playlists they have created. It makes for a motivating, and synergistic type of practice. I particularly enjoy the heated power classes. Highly recommend!

Love taking classes at Soul Sweat. The studios are beautiful and always clean. The infrared heat is top tier and it doesn’t matter who is teaching - the instructors are all knowledgeable and bring something different each class and I walk away feeling strong and empowered.

I’ve also taken a couple of retreats with Soul Sweat - and I can’t say enough about how amazing the experiences are. Courtney and her team make sure everything runs smoothly - and they all make sure to connect with everyone and make it easy for to connect with each other. I went in feeling a bit awkward and uncomfortable but walked away feeling connected to a special group of friends. The food and yoga are amazing - and such a great balance of excursion options and chill time. Really - I can’t recommend it enough. Can’t wait for another one!

I've been attending classes at Saybrook Soul Sweat for about a year now, and it truly is a special place, both for the practice and the people!

Most recently, I had the privilege of joining their 2025 Costa Rica Yoga Retreat, and it was absolutely magical. The accommodations (highly recommend a daily hammock nap!) were beautiful and comfy, the food was delicious, and the excursions were thoughtfully planned. It was clear the trip was planned with love. The teachers—Courtney, Holly, and Meg—were amazing, bringing so much knowledge and warmth to the experience.

What made it even more special was the chance to connect with fellow yogis in a way that isn't always possible in class. We had such a wonderful group, and I know this won’t be my last Soul Sweat retreat!

Thank you, Courtney, for creating such a beautiful community :)

I’ve been to several yoga studios across CT, and I can confidently say that Soul Sweat is the best studio. The infrared heat and steam combination is elite. I know that every single time I walk into Soul Sweat, I am going to leave better than when I came in. There are a wide variety of classes; from power vinyasa, to warm slow flows, and each class provides an amazing yoga session tailored to your needs. It is clear that the instructors are very knowledgeable and care for the students and the practice itself. Soul Sweat is not just about yoga, though, it’s about community. This studio fosters a warm, welcoming, and safe, yet challenging environment for those who seek to level up their practice. I am so fortunate to be a part of this studio and community!

Soul Sweat has been the most effective environment for building my strength and mental toughness. The humidity, sequences, and style of teaching are so profound and it’s been the most encouraging space to come inward and culminate an effective practice- no matter where I restart in my abilities each year.

I’ve been going since I was 18 and it has allowed my friends and I to release, strengthen and restore our mind and bodies for years !!! all based on a deeply understood science that is clearly integrated into the studio.

I had no idea the power of a vinyasa flow and haven’t found an environment the same since. Courtney has been a role model to me and many of my friends since we were 18/19 and this studio has always been a scared place unlike any other. I encourage every person to take the time to consider/learn the power and value of vinyasa yoga at this studio and the effect it can have on your life😊😊

Trying new physical things, never mind in your 60s, can be challenging. I’m beyond grateful I did. Soul Sweat Studios has changed my life in so many positive, unexpected and entertaining ways. I practice tree pose while waiting in lines, yogi squat when cleaning my house, envision a line pulling my spine straight at random moments, twisting from my waist while driving to see if it’s safe to enter traffic, heart openers in the shower… you get my drift 😎 The teachers are varied yet all amazing. Their words, readings, support and enthusiasm have kept me going. I feel love, safety and acceptance on my mat in every class. On a health note…last year my pulmonologist said my lungs had lost elasticity /volume due to age and other factors. After retesting this year he said I have regained elasticity/volume to a degree better than average for my age. Yogi breathing!!! I am positive that is why. Courtney, thank for your vision and the family you’ve created and lovingly share.

Soul sweat is the BEST! I recently moved to Connecticut and had been searching for a hot yoga studio to attend…. I’ve lived in many different states and been to quite a handful of studios that I LOVED practicing at. I struggled to find one when I moved here, and tried about 4 different studios before I found soul sweat in old saybrook. I was so happy to find this place! The classes are challenging, music is always on point, and flows are always keeping me oh so present and focused on the practice! Many times I am quite surprised at how the teachers construct their flows - it’s an incredibly fun place to practice!

If there’s anything that could make this studio better than it already is would be to add some weights to power classes, or maybe some mid day classes (1/2pm)!

Thanks Soul Sweat! You’ve got it going on! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVEEEEE this yoga studio. The classes are all amazing, some personal faves are Court's class, Lori's, Carolyn, Kat, and I know all the other instructors are amazing (just look at how full they all are). The power classes are usually nice and steamy, strong, but well paced so you work hard, but last through the series. The studio is super clean, the community is friendly, respectful and dedicated to the practice. And the Soul Sweat gear is super cute if you're in the market for a tank, hat or hoodie. This is an elite yoga studio that I joined about 7 months ago. The facility itself is sleek and super clean (floors are scrubbed after every class). The teachers are awesome and provide a challenging practice with an abundance of encouragement and assistance (if needed). The culture is superb - everyone is welcoming to practitioners of all different levels. The studio offers plenty of classes from beginner to advanced and is open 7 days a week. This is a great, low impact way to improve your physical (and even more so mental) health.

Simply and undeniably one of, if not the best, studio I’ve been to in decades. Closer for me in proximity to some of the others I also love, parking is great, pricing is good, teachers are wonderful, times of classes are many and convenient, flow through the space from the moment of entrance through the dressing/sitting area into actual studio is extremely welcoming and friendly as it encourages either privacy for the shy or gentle friendly exchanges (both 🐕 🐶 and yogis includes) vs a somewhat awkward tight/limited path of space, various forgotten toiletries/supplies as well as felt hangers are at your fingertips in the spacious dressing (mirrors for fixing/tidying before work/errands), the healthy juice drinks are splendid, the studio is extremely clean with organic cleaners/essential oils, well stocked with a yogi’s needs (cleaners/props/Kleenex/etc) and the heat/humidity (my priority/preference) is absolutely spectacular!!!!!!! Will begin to transition my practice to Soul Sweat as time and other current commitment allows. 🕉☯️

Excellent yoga studio. Super clean as the whole place is mopped down after each class. Friendly people and staff. Very experienced instructors with classes for all skill levels. They have a “warm” yoga option for those just dipping their feet in the hot yoga world. This is unique as I haven’t seen this option at other studios and my husband really appreciated it to not be so intimidated starting out!
Classes are almost always pretty full, but everyone is respectful of others’ space and even a full class doesn’t feel too crowded. Their online booking system is also super easy to use. I go here weekly and look forward so much to class here. There’s also a great coffee shop next door for early classes 😊

SS is top tier!! I’ve been regularly practicing yoga for 12+ years, have my RYT 200hr and SS checks every box for me. The studio is always immaculate, the teachers are diverse but all deliver a great class and the customer service is amazing. The owner is super professional and driven and the success of her studio reflects just that ❤️

A truly exquisite establishment. Clean, charming, and organized. The instructors are remarkable! Many different flavors of teaching, but everyone’s heart is in it. The vibe is on point. The classes are super challenging yet peaceful/restorative simultaneously. Soul Sweat has honestly changed my life. The owner Courtney is young & driven, her heart is right at the core of the business. I wish her all the best!

I love practicing at Soul Sweat Saybrook. The staff is friendly, and the studio is hot and steamy, but thoroughly cleaned after each class! Signing up for classes is easy and classes always run on time. A must visit if you love hot yoga or want to try it out!

I was in town visiting friends and wanted to pop in to a yoga class. I’m so glad I found Soul Sweat! The class I took was lead by Carolyn and was fun, strong and playful. She offered plenty of options for advancing postures as well as ways in which to modify. It’s definitely HOT at this studio and super sweaty… so bring some towels and lots of water. It was a bit loud before class, lots of chatting and while I enjoyed the playlist, the song playing during savasana had a heavy beat and lyrics…. Which was distracting. Overall though, great experience. I live in Massachusetts but if I’m every up for a road trip, I know where I’ll go for a great class!

As soon as you walk, your stress levels decrease because the place is pleasingly decorated and clean. The practice room is spacious and the instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging while never forcing you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. They also walk around the room providing individual quiet correction so that you obtain the most out of the class!

BEST YOGA STUDIO IN CT! I've been practicing yoga for 7 years, have my yoga teacher's certificate, and love doing hot yoga. Saybrook Soul Sweat is the best studio I've been to, by far. And Courtney is the best owner. She's welcoming, responsive, and an inspiration. She's designed a studio that's the perfect space for large or small classes, has a great air purification system to keep you safe, and has the best steam machine to make you sweat! All of the teachers have the same mindset by leading classes that help you dig deeper while enabling you to flow -- the sthira with the sukham. Give it a try if you like power vinyasa! You won't find any place better.

I started visiting Saybrook Soul Sweat at the end of 2021. I love the studio, it’s beautiful and has a great vibe. The teachers are great and the classes are challenging and fun! I started with the 2 week unlimited for new student and purchased a 10 pack of classes when that ended. Since starting there I brought one friend and referred another. They both love it! I took a little break through January and February, but I can’t wait to get back on my mat there in March!

As a longtime yoga teacher and studio operator, I was really looking forward to finding a yoga studio on the shoreline, and, sadly, I didn’t experience the same glowing reviews. I didn’t feel welcomed or greeted, the instructor just said poses without cues, and students were disruptive talking before class. I believe everyone needs yoga, and I hope this studio considers how important it is to make new students feel welcome and acclimated to a new space.

S3 review

Not only does Saybrook Soul Sweat care immensely about its community as a whole, but it also cares deeply about each individual student. Each staff member, from owners to managers to teachers, is warm, inviting, and deeply committed to making yoga work for every body, no matter who you are or what your experience with yoga has been. It’s truly the little things that make S3 what it is - the thoughtful notes written on your juice or shake cup, the frozen lavender towels after a sweaty practice, the homey decorations that reflect every holiday and season, the friendly dogs napping on the floor, the list goes on. I am especially impressed with how seriously they have taken reopening in a time of fear and uncertainty. From the extensive cleaning after each class to the commitment to wearing masks, to safe social distancing that still lets you get on your mat and move, I have never felt safer in a yoga studio. Ultimately, everyone feels at home at Saybrook Soul Sweat, and I couldn’t be more proud to call it my yoga home.

Old Saybrook CT is one lucky town to have this yoga studio.! Saybrook Soul and Sweat is a welcoming, clean and well designed yoga studio. The Air quality, sound system, the yoga studio itself are all terrific. All the instructors I have found to be dedicated to helping everyone self improve. Encouraging modifications to include everyone. After the class I do love the smoothie and tea bar. Keep up the great work...

Saybrook Soul Sweat is an amazing place full of amazing people. I entered the studio having had horrible and harmful experiences with yoga in the past and I was delighted to find my new happy place. I now go every day rain or shine. The instruction is clear and calming. The flow is challenging yet encouraging and the atmosphere is beautiful. Their response to the COVID outbreak has been great, the studio is always spotless! I recommend this studio to everyone I meet and I cannot sing it’s praises enough. Try it out, meet your new happy place and grab a yummy shake or tea on the way out (Soul Nutrition located inside)

I am a HUGE fan of this studio!!! I have to give the owner, Courtney, a lot of props. Through COVID she kept clear communication with all of her customers and fellow yogis and released tons of classes via video. She regularly updated the Soulsweat Instagram and sends emails to make sure that everyone know what is going on and what the regulations are for the studio to comply with CDC guidelines. I am so thankful to have yoga back after COVID and this was always one of my favorite studios that I can't wait to get back to!!! It is so clean and Courtney is soooo passionate about bringing yoga into everyone's lives. The space is truly incredible and by far one of the best places to practice in the state. If you want to be challenged and enhance your practice, come here NOW!!!

I'd just like to mention that I never write reviews for anything...but honestly this studio is one of the best I've been to across multiple states, and I continuously come back, so I thought I should finally share my love for the studio via a review! Since COVID-19 there have been many reasons for people to be anxious or stressed out about life in general, yet this studio has really made those worries of the unknown disappear for me. The studio is a clean, safe space that I can count on to get me out of a funk, especially during this time. Thank you to all the positive instructors for coming to class every day with a smile on their faces, ready to push us through a mental and physical workout that leaves us feeling accomplished, proud, and at ease. Also, a big thank you to Courtney for making this place feel so comforting and safe during this time, as well as making schedule changes to accommodate all of our new daily routines :)

The worst yoga experience in 15 years.. Courtney is apparently known for having a very bad additude and a dog eat dog mentality...that is not yoga, and her karma will eventually catch up to her.
I was terminated by her, for breathing and "moaning" too loudly in class. God forbid I endanger someone..Yet, these are the same classes in which Omming is not considered dangerous, nor is a man, literally growling through the entire class, Nor her other teachers who invite one to exhale excess heat through the mouth now and then..as is normal in most yoga classes there.
As I said before, Courtney Is miserable and projects that onto everyone outside of her..I was just her latest shiny target.
I have attached the emails so you can judge for yourself and read her first words to me about any of this..which were sent via email.
Also to clarify, as a new student to the studio I was never offered the new to studio trial rate..yet my friends were. She knew I was new, and never even told me about it.
I had bought a 10 class pass because I did not know she had other options ,and what she adjusted was switching that to unlimited. But she did not offer me the new student trial rate, yet she did make sure everyone else knew about it...funy that my two friends are male..Coincidence? I don't think so.
I was also never warned about any of this ever. I was completely shocked when I got home and got her email..So she is straight up lying when she says that the first two times were ignored..and my guess is that she will probably reply back on here and also lie, as integrity seems to mean nothing to her.
I was also told by another shoreline friend, that he would never go back to her classes, because they are actually mentally abusive and after taking her last class, I completely agree. This woman is emotionally poisenous and I very much pray that her ability to poison yoga, and the community comes to a swift end.
The cherry on top of all of this for me is that it led me to an amazing studio in East Lyme CT ..Zen and Now. The flow is a real vinyassa challenging and flowIng class, and it moves quickly in the heated class to great music. The teachers are awesome and the community feels like home. As they say in life..one door closes and 10 more open love. All this also in the midst of COVID...So Courtney's excuse for her nastyness as being related to COVID is just that, an excuse.
So I would say to all, skip this toxicity and instead try Zen and Now if you want a heated true vinyassa flow experience that welcomes breathing and apparently "moaning". Or rather the ability to feel welcome and accepted for being your bright and beautiful self. Some places love that!
To put it into perspective, The entire community at Zen and Now was in shock when I told them what had happened at Saybrook Soul Sweat.. as the basis of yoga is first and foremost breath.
If a yoga teacher ever tells you that they should not hear you breathe in their class..run in the other direction as fast as possible..that is not yoga.
Also, never allow another person to discriminate against, bully, harass, or emotionally abuse you.
I personally do not consent to that behavior in my life from Courtney or from anyone, I am far too precious, and my yogic principals taught me that.

Beautiful place, very clean. Great instructor's! I was recommended by my grief counselor and really loved the whole vibe. I signed up for the 10 class package for $145. I ended up having to move out of state due to job relocation, using maybe 4 classes. After contacting the studio I was told there are "No refunds, that maybe I could have another student take over my package or visit when I am in state." Really my only qualm... otherwise fabulous!!

I’m afraid I don’t share the glowing reviews of others. I’ve been to other yoga studios in the area and I don’t find the instructors here that exceptional. I feel it’s yoga on steroids - same movements/routine repeated for most of the session - music is loud so hard to hear the instructor. The instructor today did nothing more than call out the movement and pose. Nothing about breathing, focus, etc. Seemed pretty disinterested.
