Had 2 trial classes at this gym, jiu jitsu/grappling coach is a creep. Coach kaio pulled my hair twice on the mat in a inappropriate manner and kept messaging me inappropriately. Had to block him. I asked around and apparently that’s the norm for this gym. I doubt any girl has actually pursued him, but that still doesn’t change how inappropriate his actions are. Everyone knows he’s a creep, so I’m assuming the owners know as well. It’s concerning that a "highly reputable gym" allows someone like that to teach. Won’t be back.

Even though I haven’t had the chance to visit Teixeira MMA & Fitness yet, I’ve been a huge admirer of Glover Teixeira for years. Knowing that a true UFC legend is personally involved in training and mentoring students here makes this gym incredibly special. The dedication and discipline Glover showed in the octagon are surely reflected in the environment he’s created at this gym. I’m truly looking forward to visiting soon and training under such a respected martial artist. Just reading the positive feedback and seeing the energy from the community is inspiring. Can’t wait to be part of it someday

I had the fortunate pleasure of dropping into Teixeira MMA tonight for their BJJ class while traveling for work. It was by far one of the best drop in experiences I have had. The instructor and members were more than welcoming and the professor was extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely drop in again when back in the area and would recommend anyone else to do the same.

At 52 I was unsure a fight school would be a good place for me to train...boy was I wrong!! I have completely transformed my body. Great instructors, great atmosphere, great classes, great people. Whether you just want to come get a good cardio work out with a kickboxing class, or you want to compete in bjj or mma, this is the place for you. Every instructor takes the time to learn who you are and what your goals are and do whatever they can to help you meet them. You are never just another nameless face in the back of a class. With the family environment that they produce you never have to worry about judgement from instructors or other classmates, need that extra push to finish that last minute of abs, you'll get it. Need to stop early because of an injury, you get a high five for putting in the most effort you could. Their philosophy is team work, you can only get better if the guy sitting next to you does too, and that's what you see every time you step on the mat.

A fourth degree black belt with technical knowledge surpassed by few, Formiga is not only an excellent instructor and mentor, but a truly kind and generous person who you'd be foolish not to meet and train with/under given the opportunity.

Soulfighters BJJ is one of the best places to train whether you are looking to get in shape, learn to better yourself or want to compete at an elite level. Rafael Formiga Barbosa is one of the best teachers of BJJ I have ever met and had the honor was training with. He has competed and excelled at the highest levels and brings in some of the best competitors from around the world to his mat to share their knowledge.

The vibe is family friendly and everyone is there to get better. You could not find a better place to train in the area with great facilities, great teachers and great teammates. They have a great kids class with Felipe Costa who is an excellent teacher and competitor in his own right and they also have women's classes and offer Muay Thai/Boxing as well.

Doesn't get much better than this and it will only get better as they grow the family.

Initially I started training Brazilian jiu-jitsu to lose weight and ended up falling in love with the art. It's been almost six months and my only regret is that I didn't start earlier. I have trained at multiple academies in CT and under several different instructors. I recommend Soul Fighters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Rafael "Formiga" Barbosa without reservation. I've been doing martial arts since I was 7 and stopped as a teenager. I decided to start again but I very much wanted to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've been training here at Soul Fighters for a little over two months and I'm starting to learn that although it is a martial art, it is truly a way of life.
