The Dance Connection has been a 2nd home for my daughter for the past 16 years. She has grown up at the studio with starting out in recreational classes, moving into competition classes and competing solo’s, duo’s and groups throughout the years. Now she helps assistant teach the little kids and loves sharing her love for dance with others. Miss Sandee, Miss Linda and Miss Melissa have been so supportive throughout her journey and I can’t wait to continue to see her grow with this next chapter.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Very horrible attitude with parents and no sympathy for the children. I’m convinced half of these perfect reviews are completely made up. I’m sure some people have had good experiences but there’s no way I’m the only one with a bad experience or so the couple bad reviews that I truly agree with. This place maybe did well for a while in the past, the teachers themselves are great but the staff up front’s lack of positive energy and clear misery for being here just diminishes the good work the teachers are doing. This and the unprofessionalism is beyond me, they have run out of energy to keep this place above water as it seems it once was it’s a shame. If you’re so great with people who have been going here for “10” years plus, why is it they’re so incredibly rude with newcomers? Something I’ll never understand. They don’t take bad reviews well I can see but you can’t hush everyone up with threats! And I won’t be one of them. Freedom of speech is a thing!! Letting all the people I knew that wanted to come here the next season, to gladly bring their young innocent children elsewhere since new comers are not very welcome in this dance community.

What I love about the Dance Connection is options. They have non-competitive programs for my daughter who is heavy into sports but still wants to dance, as well as Competitive programs for my other daughter who only wants to dance. The quality of their lessons are unmatched. We tried a few local studios but none compared. Two happy daughters who are thriving and doing what they love.

When my son was 4 years old, I went on a search for a dance class that was exclusive to boys only. The Dance Connection in East Haven popped up on my search, and even though it was 30 minutes from my home, I made an appointment for a free trial class and met Ms. Linda (owner) for the first time. She showed my son so much love, right from the very beginning, and still does to this day. There was no pressure to sign up, in fact this school allows you to pay monthly. Fast forward 5 years later, and now my son is a member of a dance company here, preparing a lyrical solo for competition, and is still an honorary "OG" member of the fabulous and amazing boys hip hop crew. He's made friends, gained a ton of confidence and loves to perform. His teachers and the staff of The Dance Connection are all top notch! You can tell that dance IS their life and they are happy to spread decades of experience and the love of dance to all of their students and dance families. From the moment we walked into the doors, my son knew that he wanted to dance there. Miss Linda made him feel welcome and the studio offered him a variety of classes.

Unprofessional staff. My daughter went into her class today and there was a completely new teacher they don’t give you a heads up or communicate this change at all, they expect you to just be okay with it I suppose. My daughter was doing a fine job dancing with the older ones but requested mom in the room and the owner confirmed it was ok one week, the receptionist comes in 15 min before it’s over to tell my wife to get out in a very rude way.. the next week my daughter requests a cracked door for her comfort the owner said this was okay while the receptionist felt it was not so 15 mins before class is over they come over to shut the door without any care of my daughters well being. She was beginning to have a melt down and cry and my wife had to quickly get my daughter out before they shut the door to the classroom. I have not seen such disrespect by another grown woman towards a family the way I saw it this evening. She didn’t want to hear my wife out who was trying to explain this happened the week previously about her being inside. Not once did the lady try to talk to us about having a closed door next class(seeing as it was 15 mins away from being over). My daughter left in tears two weeks in a row due to their poor communication, ms Linda wanted to apologize after and say she had no chance to talk this employee about her allowing a cracked door but without asking or talking this woman comes out of no where to shut my daughter inside there’s no excuse for this. Just take your kids elsewhere this place is going downhill very quickly as I’ve seen in the past year. Employees seem overworked and tired or they simply just did not care to be so disrespectful. They claim the door was a fire exit and it does not act as a fire exit at all it’s just like an apartment door with 2 locks on it and they are right next to do a fire stations so seriously! It couldn’t be cracked for 15 more mins? Just ridiculous if you ask me. They clearly have some issue against my wife to continuously bother her weeks in a row when she was just doing what the owner allowed, so ruining our kids comfort and experience here was the way they decided to handle it. They’ll have family and friends make perfect reviews to filter ours out and that’s fine but I’m just glad to take my daughter elsewhere now, respectfully.

The only reason I give them two stars is because my daughters dance teacher, Abby was wonderful , patient and a great teacher.

Make no mistake- this is not a dance school- its a competition factory. They only want girls who compete. There are NO CLASSES for teenage girls that do not want to compete.

My 7 year old daughter has been dancing at the Dance Connection for 6 years now! I wouldn't go to any other studio because I myself danced their for 15 years during my childhood. The experiences and friendships I made as well as learning to be the best dancer I could be was what made me choose to send my daughter. She has made lifelong friends and is always smiling when she gets out of class. The competition experience is a bonus.
