I have been doing Bikram for many years. Took a long break and Iβm back. My body is thanking me! Moved closer to New Haven and joined True Bikram. The studio is nice and hot and clean. Robin and Joyce are excellent instructors who corrected my form. I love that! These little tweaks make all the difference. Plenty of classes to choose from. I highly recommend True Bikram to new and seasoned Bikram practitioners alike.

This studio has been around for 20 years for a reason: it's a fantastic place to practice original Bikram yoga.
The studio is clean and welcoming. I've been practicing for 12 years, and the yoga speaks for itself. The yoga room here is kept at the perfect temperature/humidity for a challenging yet beginner-friendly practice and classes are led by experienced teachers. I especially loved the class taught by Robin, the studio owner of 18 years. The space is also equipped with private changing areas and showers. I even rehydrated after class with a freshly pressed juice.
The studio itself is in the basement of the building, but there are plenty of signs to direct you once you're buzzed in the entrance.
I'm so happy this community exists here in New Haven, and I can't wait to come back!

I went to one class and didn't come back because I was not a fan of the atmosphere or the instruction. However, I do think the rest of the staff & the idea of the business is great and has a lot of potential to keep growing!
I've gone to hot yoga for several years and was looking for somewhere to practice while I was in grad school in New Haven. The studio is in the basement, has bad lighting, and could overall use a revamp. I don't really even mind that it's in the basement, it was mainly just that the studio really could use a facelift. My instructor did not seem very happy to be there - I get that everyone has bad days but it made me lose focus.
I think if I had a different instructor + they made the studio a little less dingy, this would be a five star review. In the end, the way a studio looks is not very important - but it definitely did influence me not returning.

I've been teaching remotely for True Bikram Yoga for over 2 years now and absolutely love the experience of being connected to a dedicated yoga community from abroad. Professionally, True the owner Robin, the staff and fellow teachers encourage and support my own personal development and work to unify our team with monthly meetings where we hone our teaching skills and stay abreast of any changes in policies and procedures in all areas, from health and safety to cultural shifts in the way we're able to approach the services we provide. I continue to learn and to serve and am grateful for the opportunity. I HIGHLY recommend True Bikram Yoga!

I have practiced Bikram yoga in many states and I honestly find this location to be the most annoying one. It has no parking, and it's extremely hard to get into the building, and the yoga room is in the basement. One of the yoga sessions I had with this studio was with a virtual teacher. I have never heard of that concept before. The teacher is not located in the studio and run through the class Zoom style. What is the point then? I drove all the way to New Haven (20 mins each way), struggles to find parking, and then i have a Zoom class? Why don't I Youtube it at home to begin with? Thankfully this is not my home studio.

Itβs a shame that it was closed when I started going during the pandemic. But my experience here was fantastic, I loved coming here in the winter months and have a sense of tranquility and peace. The way to the studio was a little confusing but they provide arrows and instructions. π€π

Iβll always call this studio home because it is where I first learned. When I started I was overweight, not so flexible, and couldnβt do any of the poses. My intentions were to take just one class. That was 7 yrs ago.

I've been going to this studio for about 15 years and have always appreciated how hard the staff work to provide the best possible experience. I love this yoga and am so glad to have a wonderful place to rely on for the practice. After all this time, I'm finally writing a review because I am so impressed with the changes that have been implemented to make conditions safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. I've been a few times since it re-opened; the place is spotless and set up so that social distancing and all other precautions can be maintained. I felt perfectly safe and comfortable, and was so glad to get back into the hot room! If anyone is hesitating for this reason, I encourage you to try it out.

True Bikram yoga has been phenomenal for me. Really life changing. I have been going 3 mornings a week for about 7 years. It helped my body and my mind. Iβm fitter, calmer and happier. I felt so good I got back into marathon running, which I had not done for 25 years. Great instructors and a great community. Join us at 6am in Madison. As one of our instructors says βyouβve done more by 7:30, than most people will do all day!β

When I moved to the New Haven area from Glastonbury back in December I was merely looking for a studio to continue my practice and help me with my anxiety through this transition. What I found was a community of people with an energy full of positivity and expressed a kind of discipline and compassion I wanted to learn to obtain myself. I loved the place so much that I applied to be a part of their team and began working AND practicing there lol That's just how great I found this place to be :)

I love this facility. I've never been to their Monroe studio, but New Haven always has friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and all around great atmosphere, parking can be tricky, but they're very helpful if you ask.
Best Bikram studio easily compared to Norwalk fairfield or Shelton.

Real Quick:
I've practiced many places, and this studio is hands down one of the best locations I have been to. They are interested in the struggle and discipline of Hatha Yoga practice, and not so much in the westernized perception of it. Friendly staff, excellent facilities; anyone who complained about the sweaty carpet would be happy to know that they just replaced it with brand new Rubber flooring. You get access to two facilities both with private showers, bathrooms, fresh juice bar, lounge area to stimulate comradery between frequenters. I'll admit that sometimes the teachers can seem a bit pushy, but that's the nature of a Bikram style practice, and they are always understanding of physical injury/ limitation.

I have been practicing Bikram yoga at True Bikram in New Haven/Madison for over 5 years and continue to love every bit about it! The team working at both studios is fantastic--always friendly and supportive of my practice. Through this practice, I have honed my mind/body connection and have improved my performance in other activities (running, dancing, weight lifting). It is definitely a challenging workout (physically and mentally), but one that leaves me feeling more energized. I highly recommend True Bikram to anyone looking to improve his/her flexibility, strength, balance, and overall well-being.

This a top-notch studio. The teacher and other staff are really personable and know a lot about the yoga and its benefits. The class was rigorous but I felt like I was being taken care of, as the teacher gave me some specific pointers, even thought the class was quite large. The facilities are spacious and what a treat to have some fresh cold grapefruit slices right after class. I've been there several times and I always leave smiling! I look forward to my next trip to that area!

Private Lesson - Having practiced 4+ years, had questions relating to various postures, the dialogue, and wanted to reboot my practice. I recently had my 3rd private lesson, the first two being during my first couple of years of practice. Robin, Director of True Bikram Yoga, offers an excellent one-on-one private lesson bringing years of teaching experience (includes teaching at Bikram Teacher Training, and judging at USA Yoga competitions) to bear on one's practice. She is a professional who continues to educate herself on the art and practice of yoga and it shows in her classes and private instruction. I highly recommend a private lesson for the new practitioner, as well as the experienced one. Instructive and encouraging, it'll help bring your practice to the next level.
