We’ve had such a positive experience at YB World Taekwondo Academy! My younger son started first & loved it so much that his older brother insisted on giving it a try and they’ve both been committed ever since. The classes are both fun & challenging, and all of the staff are supportive & friendly. Our family couldn't recommend it here and encourage everyone to give it a whirl!

I highly recommend YB World Hope Street.
Since my daughter began attending a year ago, I can say with confidence the following:
Her confidence in everything has improved immensely.
She is above grade level in school.
She’s become more disciplined: She sets goals and works to achieve them.
She’s learning perseverance through productive struggle.
She’s happier than ever because she is doing something she loves but that she also knows will teach her an abundance of lifelong skills.

In addition, our experience as a family has been all together positive. YB World cultivates a culture of community with a variety of family oriented activities that occur year round. Mrs Kim is a delight. She is extremely respectful and goes above and beyond for her families. Master CJ, the teacher, has a special way of connecting with students and making class fun. The office is always professional and communicates with parents regularly.

If you are looking for an excellent Taekwondo school, YB World is it.

Parents beware- if you’re considering enrolling your child here, think TWICE.

1. Unfriendly and rigid school policies: Memberships cannot be frozen, meaning you have to keep paying even when you're on vacation. Deposits are generally non-refundable, which is uncommon compared to other Taekwondo schools in Stamford.

2. Surprisingly high fees: They charge $65 for a uniform (other schools offer it for free), and $65 for belt tests that happen roughly every 1.5 months. These costs add up quickly.

3. Hostile and unprofessional communication: My son and I were asked to leave the school because we arrived EARLY. Ms. Kim's exact words were, “You go home or go to Dunkin Donuts, you can’t stay here.”

4. Inconsistent, unwritten rules: Ms. Kim frequently refers to “school policy,” but many of these rules are unwritten and seem to change at her discretion. She told me there was a written policy about how early students can arrive, but when my husband asked to see it, she admitted it was not in writing. It was extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

5. Frequent class cancellations: Classes are often cancelled with little to no reminder. There were multiple times when we, together with other families, showed up only to find out the class had been cancelled for reasons that didn’t affect the whole group.

Summary: I strongly recommend exploring other Taekwondo schools in the Stamford area. There are far better, more affordable, more respectful, and more transparent options available.

My son has been attending for about two years now and we love it. The space has a nice set up where parents can view their children while practicing. Mrs. Kim is very helpful and kind. She truly cares about the students and family of YB world. Master CJ is great with kids. We also hosted out son's birthday there and it was a breeze. They helped to set-up and take down and made everything so much easier. 10/10 would recommend

I recently held my children’s birthday party here and it was an huge success! We are currently members and are already pleased with training and education they provide. They did an excellent job, because they tailored the instruction, games, and activities for a large group and made sure everyone, regardless of previous training, could participate. Not only was it affordable but it was a fantastic experience for all. Everything was perfect and the staff was super accommodating and helpful. They were a huge help in every way, from set up to clean up, and I’m so appreciative for their assistance. Everyone had a great time. They also proved special certificates for the goody bags. I’m very happy and recommend everyone books a party here and trains here. Thank you again to everyone for making this day special for my children!

I am very grateful with YB world taekwonfo Academic, I have a daughter who is in 2nd grade, we started about a year ago, my daughter has ADHD, My daughter is very happy she now love the word focus 😊😅, the teachers are very kind and patient. Mrs. Seung kim is a lovely person, and Mr. CJ is very patient, and he is a great coach.I am very happy that my daughter continues to practice these arts. My kids and husband all attend YB world. They have been great! One of my kids attended their summer camp this summer and loved it. Taekwondo in the morning / Learning academy in the afternoons and came home knowing about exponents! (only going up to thrid grade). Next summer we will definitely going back for much longer!

I can not say enough positive things about this program. My child started in Kindergarten and is currently working on his 3rd degree black belt. YB is a family oriented program that includes all family member a different events during the year. They focus on Mind , Body and Spirit. I highly recommend you check out their program!

Our kids have been going there for now past 5 years and this is one of the classes they really look forward to. The entire Staff is fantastic, Master CJ makes learning, fun for kids. Starting from the welcoming hello to all the tests everything is done exceptionally well. My family has enjoyed being part of the YBworld family. Our two kids started back in 2016 and in the beginning we thought joining would be like many other sports but it has been much more. The YBwold teachers and staff are of the best of the best in welcoming you into there family and at the same time providing a professional structure which has allowed our kids to grow and be more confident. One of the best things i can say is that my kids always want to go. My kids have met life long friends in this program and the kids are a great bunch. I could go on and on but i am going to stop now.

We saw a big change in our kid since we started going to YB world at hope street. Became more social, confident and an extrovert. The staff is amazing right from Mrs. Kim's friendly attention and consideration for every member and the professionalism and individual attention that Master Carlos and Master CJ gives to every kid. I am so thankful to be part of the YB World Martial Arts Taekwondo Academy on Hope Street. The instructors are second to none. They provide a nice balance of structure and care. As a student in the adult class, I truly appreciate the instruction at each of my early belts that I have been part of, truly looking forward to eventually reaching a Black Belt. My son started in the Family Class as a 2-year-old, now as a 3-year-old in Little Dragons and truly loves it. He (and his parents) feels that it is his second family. My daughter had asked for karate lessons, and we happen to make the winning bid at a school fundraiser for an 8 week session at YB World TKD. That was over a year ago! I am so happy we did this for her. She loves it! She has gained confidence and perseverance. The instructors work well with kids to keep them engaged in the class and to help them build skills (both physical and mental skills). My daughter says the instructors are “awesome” and “ very nice and funny.” She has so much fun in class, that I wanted to do it, too...so now I’m training, too! It truly is a family atmosphere!

My son has been going to YB World for just about 3 years now and it’s been an amazing experience for him.

I have two children that just passed their blackbelt test at the YB World Academy. We have lived in three different states, and transferred to four schools due to relocation - this is by far the absolute best decision we have made for both their martial arts training as well as their personal growth. Since enrolling, my children have started to excel in their school efforts (both now on high honor roll) as well as their dedication and commitment to all activities. To watch them grow as a direct reflection of their focus and training has been amazing. The Grand Master Kim , Mrs. Kim, and their team have been fantastic role models and extremely supportive of our efforts to help our children adjust. Grand Master Kim and Mrs Kim have built a lovely community of learners (including the students' families). We have been to 4 dojos over the past 10 years, from Sydney to New York and now Stamford. We have visited countless others in the area. It is like choosing a college - there are many pieces of the puzzle that must come together for you to know you are in the right place - and YB on Hope Street had everything we were looking for. We have a black belt teen and a early belt grade schooler who are both very happy here. We look forward to many years with the Kim's and their awesome staff!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have 2 kids in classes and both are now black belts. It has given both of them incredible confidence. My 12 year old is now teaching and a part of the leadership program and would come 7 days a week if he could. He is learning patience and how to be a role model. As a parent I highly recommend Taekwando. This is a safe and incredibly supportive environment for the kids where they are always encouraged by the masters and fellow students to try their best. Best activity I have gotten them involved in. I love my YB family!

This is a great place for kids interested in martial arts. The instructors Masters CJ and Carlos are patient with the kids and spends time emphasizing the importance of all aspects of martial arts including respect and teamwork. The instructions are good and the kids get an excellent workout. Mrs. Kim is a particularly warm individual who learns about the kids and their families, taking in their needs and desires. She will work with you to help design schedules that fix your needs. Master Kim is an eighth degree black belt, I believe, so you can eventually achieve a very high belt level. All in all, great place for kids and adults alike who want to learn about Taekwondo..

While the school is fairly new and still getting it's feet wet (working out very minor kinks), the instructors and support staff are top notch and bend over backwards to make sure you (and your family) are well trained in all ways needed.
