From free outdoor yoga to our forever home on Church st in Willimantic CT YONO (YOga on NOrth) not only survived but thrived in 2020. This couldn't be possible without determination, vision and the support of the community who grew as we grew. YONO maintains the mission to create a space for all levels, all humans always, to feel inspired and motivated to take an active role in their well-being. The recent addition of Quiet Corner Float (float and infrared sauna therapy) has created a holistic experience for the YONO, Willimantic and surrounding community.

This was my first floating experience and Yono/Quiet Corner Float did not disappoint! The entire place is a quiet, serene environment that welcomes you the moment you walk in the door. Angie was very accommodating and explained the entire process to me. Yono/Quiet Corner Float supplies all the amenities you need so all you have to bring is yourself.
This was an amazing experience - I will definitely return and recommend it to anyone interested in floating.

This was our second time floating at YONO and both times Angie was super welcoming and friendly. The float rooms are clean and provide all the things you would need, there is even a little vanity room you can use after your float. The experience of floating is unreal and something everyone should try at least once! Definitely recommend going to YONO if you want to give it a try!

This was my first float experience and it was wonderful. The welcome I received made me feel 100% comfortable, the process was explained thoroughly, and they think of everything you could need to be comfortable for the experience. I would recommend a float to everyone, especially at Yono/Quiet Corner.

Clean, beautiful, quiet, peaceful. Angie is amazing and I’m so grateful for her bringing her studio to Willimantic!! It was surreal to enjoy such a wonderfully thoughtful space in Willimantic - I grew up in Windham center and I love our town, but this felt like I was transported to an upscale neighborhood ;)
I was very impressed and pleased with the entire experience.
I went for a 60min float (my first ever) and I was made to feel completely comfortable and at ease, before, during, and after the session. 10/10 would recommend.

I just wanted to leave my review of the phenomenal Somatic Breathwork class that I participated in last Saturday.
Prior to this class, I had zero experience with somatic breathwork and walked in not really knowing what to expect, other than a reset of my nervous system which is something I greatly needed. Samara, the instructor, was warm and welcoming. She began by introducing us to the concept of somatic breathwork and urged us to leave our judgements of ourselves and others aside. Throughout the class, she did an excellent job guiding us to open up and let go. The key word here was "expression". Somatic breathwork is a real and sought after therapy, and now I see why. It gets you into your body so that you can move old, stuck emotions through it, and this modality manifests in ways that might be intense or scary to the uninitiated. Many people, including myself, were compelled to yell, scream, cry or even laugh, and because of the nonjudgmental space Samara helped create for us, I felt thoroughly safe to do so and let go.
By the end of the class I felt a stillness in the center of my being that I hadn't felt in who knows how long. My mind was clear, and I felt that I was more grounded than I can ever remember being. I spent the rest of the day nourishing myself and my thoughts. If this workshop were offered again I would take it in a heartbeat. I clearly see the value in this type of therapy and I'm so glad I took a chance on it, and I'm so grateful to have a space like Yono here in town.

Went on Saturday to a breath work class which from the description sounded like meditation and calm breathing exercises to relax you. This was NOT the case. I found myself in a room full of people yelling, growling, moaning, screaming, and some hysterical to the point they sounded like they were going to vomit. The “breath work” was done in a way to physically induce hyperventilating and simulate a panic attack. Of course you’re going to have people who feel like they had a breakthrough when you told them to focus on their traumas while inducing a panic attack. I would highly recommend people seek actual counseling. If they actually put what the class consisted of in the description I don’t think that many people would have attended. The instructor showed up wearing a lace bra, not a sports bra but a lace bra which was inappropriate. She also looked like she hadn’t showered and just rolled out of bed. I’m giving 2 stars because the studio itself is very nice and from what I hear the yoga classes are fantastic but I would not recommend this class.
Response to Angie’s reply: I reread the description too and I didn’t see anywhere that the class would consist of being instructed to yell, scream, moan, or make various animalistic noises.
Angie, I think you’re misunderstanding what Google reviews are for. They are not a “forum” they are to document someone’s experience at a place of business. This was my experience. Part of “professionalism” is showing up to the workplace clean and in appropriate clothing which your staff failed to do. For someone who emphasized in your response how important it is to be “nonjudgmental and non shaming so people can be free to feel and express” you’ve judged me as unkind based on my review of my personal experience as well as discounted my experience based on your previous review history. You say you value feedback yet you’ve made excuses for every aspect of my review which shows your lack of managerial skills. I guess the freedom to have feelings about an experience and express one’s feelings and opinions are only valid if they align exactly with your viewpoints. This is called hypocrisy at its finest.

After moving back to CT from Denver, I struggled to find a yoga studio that seemed to fit until I tried Yono. The instructors are highly skilled, friendly, creative and real. I could feel the sense of community immediately. Every class is invigorating & challenging and yet relaxing. I have yet to leave class and not feel uplifted! Each instructor brings their unique approach to class so there is something for everyone. I highly recommend Yono whether you are beginner or advanced.

I have tried many many yoga studios in the past. This is the first time I have ever become a "regular" - I've been at YONO for about two years now. I really can't say enough amazing things, but I think what made me stick with this studio versus others is the feeling of kindness, calmness, and welcoming that permeates the place. All of the teachers are wonderful and have their own styles, but I never felt intimiated to try something new or ask a question in a class - in fact, doing so feels welcomed and even encouraged. I am not the most flexible person and have had many awkward experiences in yoga studios before - not here.
Other things I particularly love - the mind and breath connection is emphasized even in more strenuous classes; the schedule is set so that you can pair difficult classes with more restorative/gentle classes in the same day (sometimes back to back); the community of teachers and students is fantastic - I've made some great friends; and so much more. If you are thinking about trying a new yoga studio or joining one for the first time - this is the place.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about YONO.
Practical stuff- Plenty of free parking. Bring your own supplies, or borrow from the studio for free. Massage, yoga, meditation, reiki, float tanks. Affordable single sessions or memberships. Morning and evening classes.
The community and staff are welcoming, kind and supportive to all bodies, all shapes, all sizes, all ages, all genders, all abilities. Whether you're an experienced yogi or just trying it out, there's an abundance of classes to experience, and every teacher brings their own perspective to the practice. I've never feel like I'm asking a silly question or "doing it wrong", and the staff are super receptive to feedback to make everyone feel safe and welcome.

I was gifted a 30-day pass to Yono, back in 2019, and it remains one of the best gifts I have ever received. Yono is a haven, in a world that can be a little crazy and a lot overwhelming at times. You feel it as soon as you walk in…everything slows down, you breathe a little deeper, block out the noise of your day, and move with intention. The instructors are amazing, each bringing their own special influence to each class, and you are always reminded to make the practice yours…no competition, no pressure. Add to all of that the sauna, massage, and float tanks, and you have a special place to unwind and recharge within a supportive community. Yono is a very special place and we are so lucky to have it in our quiet corner of CT!

Here's how I know the people at YONO are great: my 6'8" tall husband came to class with me a couple of times and not once did anyone -- not an instructor nor a student -- make a comment about his height. (If you know, you know...) We have never been able to walk into any fitness-related studio or store before without someone dropping a comment about it. When YONO says it's a welcoming, inclusive place for "every body," they mean it, and you can feel it. Thank you, Angie and staff, for all that you do to create such a welcoming, warm, uplifting environment!

I've been a Yono regular for about 6 months now and can't recommend them enough. From the moment you walk through the doors, the vibe is just peaceful. There are 2 spacious & well equipped studios. Yono offers a wide selection of classes that cater to varying needs and abilities and many of the classes are also available on Zoom if you can't make it in or if a class is full.. Angie & her crew are enthusiastic but never "over the top". They will encourage you to challenge yourself while reminding you to honor what your body & mind need. And there is NEVER any judgement. When you practice at YONO, you are not only signing up for a yoga class, you are becoming a member of one of the most supportive and meaningful communities in the area. I have been practicing at YONO for just over two years and have watched my life transform as a result. Amazing date night experience! I had wanted to try floating, and the experience at YONO was so easy and enjoyable. Everything is explained beforehand, and it was easy to book the two pods at the same time. As others have noted, the space is beautiful. Even the soap smells great. From the moment I stepped into the serene environment, a profound sense of calm enveloped me. The staff warmly welcomed me, ensuring I was well-informed and at ease. The sensory deprivation tank, discreetly tucked away in its own dedicated room, exuded an intriguing ambiance.
As I stepped into the tank, I was embraced by the soothing warmth of the water, cradling my body with utmost comfort. The absence of light and the prevailing silence offered respite from the incessant noise and distractions of everyday life, providing a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Being an athlete with sore muscles and stress, I was particularly intrigued by the potential benefits of this experience. Gradually, I allowed myself to let go, entering a state of profound relaxation. Unburdened by external stimuli, I found space for introspection, with thoughts and emotions flowing freely, leading me on a transformative journey within.
The weightlessness of the tank relieved the strain on my muscles, and the warmth of the water helped alleviate tension and soreness. It was as if the tank offered a therapeutic embrace, supporting my body's recovery process. The sensory deprivation aspect allowed me to fully disconnect from the demands of training and competition, creating a space for mental and physical restoration.

UPDATE-Floating
I recently had the opportunity to experience the float tank at Quiet Corner Float which is a part of YONO and operated by Angie Jacques. First, the facility and the tank room are immaculate and welcoming. Second, Angie provides an excellent explanation of everything you need to know to enjoy the float. It is very easy even for a first timer. Most importantly, floating is awesome! Floating is warm and very relaxing, a total escape. The experience is difficult to describe as it is unlike anything I’ve ever done. It provides a feeling of weightlessness in a completely serene environment which is advantageous for both physical and mental fitness. Floating provided a true peaceful easy feeling that lasted long after I left the float tank. I highly recommend floating – I can’t wait to float again.
YONO is so much more than a yoga studio. Angie has created a destination dedicated to wellness. The best part is that everyone is welcome. Angie is an excellent instructor that never stops learning and improving her skills to pass them along to her students. Angie has an outstanding group of instructors that provide a very wide array of yoga and wellness services. YONO is full service addressing – physical, mental, spiritual, and breath. There is massage, sauna, reiki and float tanks. YONO is a remarkable resource. Angie is even more remarkable.

I started with the $40 dollars new student deal earlier this year, and I was initially thinking of maybe attend two/ three classes a week as yoga is very new to me, but just like magic, I come a lot, way more than I would expected. So I’m able to experience various of classes, and all of them are awesome, each of the teachers have their own teaching style, and I can feel the passion, professionalism and uniqueness on every class. Every class is a new exploration to me, I get to know better the parts of my body that troubles me, relax and bring awareness of my spirit, and I feel much more energetic in my daily life.
As many of other people shared in the comments, YONO is much more than a yoga studio, even as a beginner like me, I enjoyed and learned a lot. There are many classes that very beginner friendly, also thanks Angie here that recommended the classes that very suitable for me and also with the tips that outside the yoga studio. There is no need to fear about anything of your current body status, you will always surprised by YONO and yourself.
Strongly recommend YONO!

I truly cannot express how absolutely amazing YONO is! It is so much more than just a yoga studio. Angie and all of her phenomenal instructors have created a space that encourages taking your practice beyond the mat and into the world with what you think, feel and do. This is the mentality that you feel as soon as you walk through the doors. You are greeted each time you enter the studio with a warm welcome that lets you know you belong whether it is your first time or your hundredth. Community is important to me, and this community is where I've made my home, raised my children, and plan to expire. Community is also pivotal to Yono and its owner Angie Jacques, and so my love of my community has grown.
When I first practiced yoga, I was a nervous newbie, but all the teachers and my fellow yogis warmly assisted me, and I've seen them do that with so many people. A yoga studio can be a mainstay of any welcoming community, but when the studio is as delightful as Yono is, we have a win in every way.
I've tried several studios and teachers. Yono is the best for vibe, love, and growth.

The best part of my day is when I step through the doors at YONO. The owner, Angie, has created so much more than a yoga studio - it's a community of supportive and caring teachers and students who practice yoga on and off the mat. YONO is a welcoming and unintimidating studio to start or grow your yoga practice. The studio itself is a beautiful mix of historic charm and new amenities, including all the props you need to enhance your practice. With two studios (and zoom options) offering a variety of different practice styles from yin to heated power yoga, spaces for wellness treatments (massage, reiki, sound healing, infrared sauna, and soon...a float spa!), unique and inspiring workshops and retreats, YONO truly has it all.

I’ve been practicing here since it opened. What a life saver it was for me in the pandemic. Recently two classes that didn’t seem so intense but left their mark on my body. A neck and shoulder “release” focus on one of those classes. Driving home and looking both ways to cross Main Street, I couldn’t help noticing how fluid my neck movement felt, like WD40 in there. I checked for traffic again a couple extra times just to enjoy the feeling. What a surprise. What a rush.

Angie has done an amazing job at creating a warm and welcoming space that is inviting and comfortable for yogies of all levels. I went to a class having never done an in-person yoga class before and was blown away by the peaceful environment was. I have now become hooked on the Sunday restore class. I have also had reiki sessions with Angie that I can’t speak highly enough about! Angie has a welcoming energy that draws you in. A beautiful addition to Willimantic!

I haven’t done yoga here yet (I live a distance away) but have had reiki with Angie. It is wonderful. I’ve learned so much about myself through the process. Angie is warm and sincere. And the space is great!

I’ve known Angie for many years and love her calm and healing energy. Today with us living in separate states, I was able to join her for a live meditation to start my day. I feel so peaceful yet ready to go about my day.
Thank you Angie, you are amazing. Namaste 🙏🏼

When my gym closed last year I decided to try YONO’s Zoom class. Prior to that, I had occasionally attended the Sunday evening class “rest and restore”.
Angie is always in tune with her students and the early focus on keeping our lungs strong was much appreciated.
By May, I was practicing 4-5 days a week. It is so easy to jump on, right in my own space! Now I look forward to as many classes as I can; they are my medicine.
Many attend in person now and I feel connected to them and to the other “Zoomers”. So much better than pre-recorded classes!

Amazing teaching, very accommodating, accepting but also challenging. Even given the current health crisis in person classes feel very safe, mats are distanced and people wear marks to come and go.

Walking into YONO was like coming home. It is such a welcoming and warm studio with very talented teachers. All the classes I've been to are flexible for all levels, my personal favorite is the Sunday evening Rest and Restore class. Highly recommend if you're looking for a studio with a great community or just looking to try out yoga!

Such a wonderful place tucked in Willimantic. The vibes and energy are so positive and rejuvenating. Finding a yoga studio is easy, finding a GOOD one is harder but Yoga on North has got it! Angie and all of her amazing teachers do such a great job. So glad I've found this gem

Angie has cultivated a welcoming space of tranquility and immersion. She teachers her classes from her students perspective, thoroughly explaining poses, transitions, and benefits. Her extensive knowledge of not only yoga (in its total mental, spiritual, and physical aspects) but also anatomy and nutrition helps her students to understand and experience their practice from an enlightened depth. While this knowledge and teaching style is unique, who Angie is really makes her classes. She is kind and compassionate and has such a soothing voice and presence. You leave her classes feeling rejuvenated and sincerely cared for. The local community is truly blessed to have a yoga teacher like Angie and a studio like YOGA on NORTH!

Simply amazing and beyond! The environment is spectacular, the studio has a lot of character as it is super cozy and Angie is an incredible instructor! The best part in my opinion is the family like environment that has been created here! You will always feel like home in her classes and will be very relaxed when you leave plus you'll get to meet some really cool like minded people and chat for a bit at the end. Her attention to details is very very very good! You can always find a great cup of hot tea, music, candle light in some classes, warm infused towels at the end and many more! Blankets, mats and blocks are included in the class so you only need to show up and walk in and you'll be all set! Even if you've never practiced yoga in your life, I can guarantee that this is a great place to start! Angie is also really good with injuries as she will guide everyone that needs modifications so they won't get hurt!

Oh my goodness I love the studio it's always comfortably warm with beautiful candlelit yoga sessions with relaxing soothing music that makes sense with the flow at hand.
The owner Angie is just such a great teacher I am so enjoying her classes in the way that I feel while I'm there and for the rest of the day I'm so glad that she decided to open in my town.

I've been taking Yoga classes with Angie for almost 8 years now, and she is everything you would hope to find in a Yoga instructor. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and knows how to inspire her students. Her manner is professional, yet personal... she teaches students, from beginners to advanced, and makes them all feel special. Also, it's a fun and comfortable experience. I always leave her classes feeling the best I've felt all week !!

Angie is not only an amazing yoga instructor, but she’s an amazing person as well! Joining a yoga studio was a scary step in my life. Having never done yoga, I was nervous about everything that came with doing yoga. The first class with Angie put me at ease, and I walked out of her class feeling amazing both physically and mentally. She is a calming force when you need it, but has a wonderful personality too. She’s the person you want as your best friend. She knows how to make class challenging for those who are able, and she always offers modifications for those who need it. I am confident that joining Angie’s studio will be one of the best decisions a person can make!!

I have been taking classes with Angie for over 6 years. Her exercise flows are always fun, energizing, and never the same. She clearly cares and the supportive and inviting environment she provides for her students always shines through. No matter what level of student you are, you'll find a place in her class. Expect to come out invigorated and having shared a few healthy laughs!
