My daughter enrolled my 4 year granddaughter for the spring session and I'm so glad it's over. The staff is very cold and unfriendly. The classes were taught by young adults who had no energy, drive and made the classes fun. I thought it would be more energy, encouragement and unity. This was my granddaughters first and last experience with this company.
Word of advice, when working with a younger age group celebrate, encourage and support their efforts. Thankfully another parent referred us to a competitor. |

First State Gymnastics offers a ninja warrior gym and tumbling classes for boys. Itβs hard to find a place that caters to boys, but this gym is great for my 11-year-old son. They offer specialty classes that help kids develop new skills. The coaches are energetic and encouraging. My son looks forward to every session. Highly recommend!

My daughter attended FSG for about 3 years and things were going well until a recent situation that occurred that has led us to find somewhere else for her to attend. Towards the end of one of her classes, an instructor (not her instructor) came up to her and said something (while in front of other students). Once class ended I approached my daughter and asked her what it was about, her instructor who was standing there proceeds to say out loud that my child was accused by some other students in a completely different class of doing something in the bathroom. The accusations were inappropriate and completely beyond my childβs character. She was chastised and blamed for something PUBLICLY in an area directly in front of other students and parents instead of us being pulled to the side to explain and get to the bottom of the situation in a more private manner.
My daughter was very upset and embarrassed and it left us feeling very uncomfortable, so the next day we went back to FSG to speak with a manager/owner but they were not available at that time. We spoke with somebody at the front desk and she was very sympathetic to the situation and she also was disturbed at how it was handled by the instructors, even apologized directly to my daughter (I do not remember her name, but I appreciate her so much for this) Later that evening we received a phone call from the manager of recreational classes and everything was basically swept under the rug and they tried to imply that my child wasnβt being blamed when she in fact was blamed!! If she wasnβt, then why wasnβt a general statement made to all students in the gym advising them to not play around in the bathroom etc? My daughter couldnβt even tell me who else was in the bathroom at the time of her going in there, so how could they identify her ? When I initially asked the instructors who was accusing her their identities were being protected, her words exactly were βI canβt disclose that information) but my daughter was accused in front of everyone?? Why wasnβt her identity protected like the other students ? There was no solution provided, what they said is what it was and that was it.
We had 2 more classes remaining for the semester that I was not getting a refund for so we let her finish them out but we will not be returning here ever again. The way this situation was handled was very unfair and disappointing.

My daughter started with FSG's XCel program almost 2 years ago. She is fortunate to practice and compete with an amazing group of friends. She admires and trusts her coach and has developed a love of the sport. I appreciate and highly recommend this gym.

Attended one time , part of a birthday party . Staff member on the floor is rude , bossy and aggressive even to a very young toddler . Not recommending this place for the age group 18 months - 2 years .your kids and mine deserve better than that !

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have a 2 year old toddler I signed up for classes to get her engaged and challenged during a pandemic where most kids her age are stuck at home. I looked for this gymnastics class to be an outlet for her to meet new friends her age, and to also gain skills in regards to gymnastics. When enrolling I was told she could not be apart of the 3 year old class due to the fact that she is not officially 3 yet. I understood and proceeded. We have went a total of 2 times out of the 10 weeks provided, I paid close to $300. We stopped going because my toddler would find herself bored and frustrated when she did not know how to use the equipment, plus the class was nothing but 12-18 month olds. There are barely any black children in the whole facility and I did not see not one black STAFF MEMBER. In the whole facility the times I went only seen about 2 if generous black parents. No diversity AT ALL. Although it is a parent tot class the instructor did not given any direction nor show us how to use the equipment, the kids were all over the place, and my daughter often times wanted to wander off to be with the older kids. Spoke with manager KIM after explaining my dissatisfaction and she states nothing can be done. She lied about other kids being in class that are 3 when there was only ONE that is about to turn 3 in April, close to my daughters age. DO NOT RECOMMEND and was a complete waste of money, very misleading for younger children.

When I had gone here before covid it was and now probably still is a great place, I was one of the kids who was taught gymnastics here and all the instructors were friendly to everyone in the class and yet still pushed us. I loved being there

First, I never leave reviews. We have been attending the Ninja Warriors Class for 5 weeks. I called and emailed for 3 weeks straight due to instruction and safety concerns. I made every attempt to contact someone and waited for someone to get back to me before using social media. I received the most unprofessional call back today. I was yelled at and hung up on by a manager/owner. He talked over me and was very aggressive. In expressing concerns, I was told if I don't like the service, I should "just leave". I never even got to explain what was going on in the class! He would not pause long enough to even have a normal conversation. He talked AT me non stop, telling me to not tell him how to run his business. I barely got 2 sentences out before he began yelling. I do not understand how a business can be conducted this way. The class is a free for all. There is no actual instruction or coaching. Kids are crashing into each other. The instructor is drinking iced coffee during the class and using her cell phone. They are left to figure out how to do things on their own. I feel ripped off, and disappointed for my child who would have loved to understand how to perform the skills this class was meant to deliver. We paid for 10 sessions and in expressing concerns, I'm told to just leave? It's awful. My husband (who has attended every class) had to call back to have an actual conversation. He was rude and arrogant to him as well, but at least he made progress. We have received a refund, but parents beware of this class. There is no instruction and the owners demonstrate terrible customer service.

This felt like an All-Star Gymnastics facility. Our two-year-old daughter loved gymnastics...until she didn't. This facility is fast-paced which is great when you have small children, and need to keep them busy.
The instructors are great in correcting children who are goofing off, but they're also great at educating and entertaining the other children as well. I've seen other facilities in ballet and gymnastics (and even daycares) that cannot get a grip on maintaining control while keeping their cool and being professional.
If we lived in Delaware still, I would've signed my daughter up again for classes. Three years since attending First-State, we are now in a new state, and it doesn't hold water to this location.

The fact that they donβt offer a makeup day for a child that was sick doesnβt seem reasonable. You pay so much money and not offering a make up day with another group at least.
First time here not sure I am coming back.

I had my sons 6th bday party there last week. It was a ninja theme. Mikayla went above and beyond to ensure THEY had everything needed for the party. Typically people provide generic decorations. But their decorations were individualized to my party. I merely provided accents! The day of it was all hands on deck! The entire gym pitched in on set up and took the kids through a variety of ninja stations. Mikayla was like the commander in chief and flawlessly delegated tasks to all employees to fit my needs. There were also 2 kids their on the autism spectrum and they were able to cater to their unique needs during activities. The kids had an amazing time and I will be signing both boys up for classes soon. I also like that you can bring your own food and that parents can watch from a comfortable overlook area!

My child has been attending for quite sometime and the Coaches do a great job with the kids. The front staff is not as friendly. There are times the gym is chaotic with little kids running around bumping into people but this is only when the classes are ending/ starting. The parent observation areas are decent. The gym is clean it does sometimes it smells like feet.

My family has been at FSG for a few years now and my kids and I love it there! The staff is very friendly and dedicated, driven to see the children succeed. The facility is clean and organized. When I call or email someone is there to answer my questions.
I am always very happy when we walk through the door, having the opportunity to watch my kids grow and learn new skills. They have made a great group of friends at FSG and with the instructors help have built a noticeable confidence in themselves! I can't express enough how great the staff has been in helping my girls build confidence, which i see in everyday things they do now! Thanks First State Gymnastics, keep up the good work!!

Clean facility. We attended a meet here and the First State girls had impressively high scores (we watched level 8). I liked during the meet how they had a top level away from the floor where you could purchase food and still see the competition. I thought the layout of the seats on the floor for watching the competition could have been better, with Beam and Vault nearest the seats and Floor and Bars farthest. For me, Floor and Bars are the more interesting events, so I was disappointed that the were harder to see.
