nice gym, i wanted to join because they have a kids club for my son. as a new mom i was excited to get back in the gym but they were less than helpful. the kids club workers have other work they have to do ( “certain amount of calls” to take) so they don’t really entertain the kids, they are more so just bodies in the room while your kids run around. whenever i am called back to the kids club because my infant is being disruptive the kids club workers are on their phones. definitely a frustrating experience because now i am ina contract for a gym i can barely use. what is the point of having a kids club if you don’t really accommodate the parents by actually engaging the kids…?

First time visiting the place I was very impressed. Ahmed the GM was up at the front and was very polite towards me and showed me around the place and took a decent amount of his time to make sure I was satisfied and the sign up process went smooth. He also helped me realize that personal training was necessary which I am very grateful for now that I have help to achieve my goals! Highly recommend joining this gym!

Zumba class in bear location, feedback:
I was really disappointed with the class. Unfortunately, the instructor didn’t seem professional — the music selection was poor, and there was no clear lead or instruction. She changed movements too quickly without any cues, which made it hard to follow. It felt like she was just dancing alone at home rather than teaching a class. I didn’t enjoy the experience, and now I understand why not many people actually attend the class.

Female manager left, and it’s gone downhill. Pool is never open. Staff can’t even take a minute to ask when the lifeguard goes on break if you call ahead. British Swim Club is a joke. Staff (BSC) is rude and inconsistent about the laps lanes needed. LA Fitness Management blames outsourcing the lifeguards and swim instructors, but that’s just a cop-out answer of doing your job. Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because I never have a problem in weights section of the gym. I wouldn’t hold your breath, cause ain’t no way any of those lifeguards would save you haha.

Extremely Dirty Showers

The condition of the shower area at this LA Fitness location is unacceptable. The walls are moldy, rust is clearly visible, and the soap dispensers are covered in grime. These aren’t just minor cleanliness issues—they reflect a serious lack of maintenance and hygiene.

I’ve attached photos so there’s no confusion. It’s frustrating and disappointing to see facilities like this at a major gym chain. Cleanliness in the showers and locker rooms should be a top priority for member health and safety.

I hope management takes this seriously and acts immediately to address the problem.

We have moved an hour and a half away from our home gym and have been in 6 different times to cancel, all with different excuses as to why they can not do it now. I never received notice that this was being taken away as of yesterday (4.13).

Would never have joined had I known they were removing this.

They make it difficult to cancel. I have called numerous times to cancel and have gotten the runaround. Someone recently said that they are waiting to get a new manager due to the old manager getting let go. Someone else said they would make a note to cancel it, which wasn't done. Another Larson said a district manager wiukd call me to refund the last couple years of fees. A get a call from a new manager who only offered to refund w months. He finally canceled the membership. I'm unhappy that so much money has been wasted because they wouldn't cancel it as requested 2 years ago. Seems like a scam to me.

ALL QUIT and classes are cancelled...over and over they bill re ""regardless" whether they could give me a class or not. I was lied to by management during a health crisis of mine that there was no possible way to cancel a membership over the phone. That I had zero options and no other numbers. That I HAD to come in or send a letter.

Impossible to cancel an account here, they only accept mailed / faxed documents and in person cancellations - if a manager is available which no guarantee. The facility is fine, it’s busy though and there aren’t enough machines and benches to go around. Also I did see a fight occur in the locker room that spilled over from the basketball court, that was interesting. Also someone was shot in the parking lot in the past for whatever reason. Don’t waste your time signing up for something impossible to cancel. Go to a YMCA instead.

I have a personal training account that you should be able to use anywhere. The end of December, I walk in to set up for personal training and I’m told on the supervisor can book those. I leave my name and number and never hear from them person. I called multiple times and left messages and he never returned the call. After about 6 weeks I get in contact with him, and he told me someone will call me with a workout time with a trainer…. No one ever called.
A week later, I call the same supervisor and now I’m told that they can’t use my personal training account because they bill differently than all the other L.A. Fitness Gyms. He the recommended that I drive the 1+ hours to PA location for personal training.
Sad thing, I paid for this ahead of time and it’s not being honored. They didn’t even try to meet me where I am except to offer me to sign up with their fitness training program … ie: more money than already spent. There are more gyms opening and advertising in the area but L.A. Fitness doesn’t seem to be concerned with the way they treat their members….

Had my Aqua fit class this morning. We had a substitute, name Deborah. She was awesome. From 9-10, she gave us a stretching (beginning and end) and a full body workout in the water! Not only was

Update: I went in the next day, and of course the manager wasn’t there for an unknown reason, again. I was told this time that they would write down my info, and she would cancel it when she got in. I called 24 hours later, and someone confirmed “yes your account has been canceled.” Now, 2 weeks later, and I’ve been auto-charged for another month. Just called the club, and have been told “there’s a note on your account to cancel, but it was not actually canceled.” Now I need to contact corporate. This place is a scam, don’t give them your money.

This gym used to be great, but has really gone done in quality over the last 2 years or so. Half the dumbbells have been missing for a long time, equipment stays "scheduled for maintenance" for weeks/months at a time, it's ALWAYS packed no matter what time or day you go, and it smells like weed pretty often. I stopped going probably 3-4 months ago, and instead use my apartment complex gym. Went in today (Thursday) at 11am to finally cancel, and was told that the ONE person who can do so was not in building for any unknown reason and they were not sure when she would return, but did state "she's almost never here." Going to try again tomorrow morning at 9am when she allegedly starts her shift. Do yourself a favor, wait until Spring 2024 and join Crunch Fitness in Newark when it opens, it'll be cheaper and is almost guaranteed to be better.

This is definitely a well maintained location. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. I always see them thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the gym and equipment. If a piece of equipment breaks they’re pretty good at getting it up and running quickly. The gym members are also courteous and everyone rerack their weights, etc.
The only downside is that it lacks some amenities like the steam room. Which is the only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars.

While getting ready for our wedding my fiancée and I decided that it would be best to get a personal trainer (2022). Seeing that our wedding is for 2024 we believed that we had time to get in shape. LA FITNESS was our go too. We signed up for 8 sessions a month for a year. The first trainer we started with left within 2 weeks for another place.

We were in limbo for 4 weeks, being charged for training sessions  we did not have a trainer for. Finally after repeatedly contacting the staff we were contacted by a trainer. To sum this experience  with him up, the trainer aggravated an injury I had surgery for (which he and the staff knew about prior to signing up) and this trainer was trying to hustle us for private training sessions (to pay him). At this point we were still owed 8 sessions.

After my fiancée advised the district manager  at the time with well worded letter. That situation  was resolved and we received another trainer. This trainer worked out well but left and we were in limbo again but this time for 5 weeks.

Kevin was assigned to us as a trainer. This time we received a trainer  that was worth what we were spending. We saw results and he worked diligently with us.

We ended our contract in August and was promised by the now former District manager that we would receive our 18 sessions  that were owed. THIS NEVER HAPPENED AND OUR CREDIT CARD is still being charged.

We have made several attempts and the on-site staff has made several attempts to have this problem  resolved. To no avail it has not been rectified. It seems that LA FITNESS doesnt care about us as customer. I might have to seek legal help regarding this issue.

I joined this gym online used the facility twice because every time I went it was so busy and packed I never got to finish a workout. Trying to cancel is the biggest pain in the neck can't print out form, moved out-of-state and not able to go into an LA Fitness near me because the closest is 25 minutes away. The water Fountains are Very Dirty, they need to be wiped down Daily. I actually seen someone lean down & put their head under the filter water dispenser & drink & wet their hair. - Some of the new members leave weights all over the place.
- Mostly, gym is busy in the evenings.
- Some of the front desk representatives are smiley and welcoming. Some, they do not even see who is coming-in or going-out of the gym, they are busy with their text messages or videos.

I have been a member since 3/2019. I see that corporate (based on the banner and customer service input), management (locally) and monthly fee has been changed. Fee has been reduced, which is good. However, I see the equipment cleanliness, maintenance and service has changed in a NEGATIVE WAY. Internally, the professional "LAFitness" look is disappearing......

Parking:
Parking lot gets FULL in the evening.

Equipment Availability:
In the evenings, the gym gets TOO BUSY now. At times equipment is UNAVAILABLE and have to wait or go back the next day. At times, some of the area near equipment and weight section is dominated by groups of people.

Some members are rude, they take up the equipment OR seat, watch videos and talk on the phone, while other person is waiting for the equipment. You cannot do anything about it. There is no proper management!!

Equipment Maintenance and cleanliness
Now-a-days, we do see equipment for service and takes time to get it fixed. Equipment is not cleaned like before. We can see dead skin/ dust and paper towels on the sides of the thread mill.

Gym Neatness and Order at the Gym
Prior to 2022, gym cleanliness and order was maintained. Now-a-days, we do see paper towels, weights all over the place. Some of the gym customers do not clean; do not even care to put the weights back in place.

At times, on the weekends, paper towels and/or clean solution is exhausted and not replaced until Monday.

If things does not change in the couple of months, I am sure some regular customers including me would quit and move to other gym (Anytime Fitness)

Don't update their equipment to stay competitive with other gyms of their stature. Have the feel of a giant health center than a gym. Lack of bumper plates and squat racks. Scarce pulley attachments. Spoke to DM who said he'd order more bumper plates and since then there's now less. If you're interested in basketball and swimming then this gym is for you. If you're interested in working out, all other gyms offer more for less than half the price.

Friendly staff. Plenty of exercise machines. Nice exercise pool. Clean. Spacious locker room with toilet and shower facilities. My friend took me as a guest and I walked on the treadmill and watched TV. Enjoyable!

Ive been a fan of LA fitness for awhile now, the staff here is very friendly and welcoming. The facilities are very nice too and always clean, and there is a lot of equipment so I rarely have to wait for a rack/machine. Pool is an awesome bonus too.

I just re-joined this location. I love it. It’s not too crowed. Everyone who works here is so friendly. There are alot of amenities here as well. A cycling room, aerobics room, enough squat racks and equipment for the amount of members unlike one of the local chain gyms. Overall happy with my decision to come back!

Amazing gym, always clean and never too crowded. It's usually not a long wait for the squat racks which are my go-to.
