Over this past summer I had a privilege to live at my friends house in Bethany Delaware to work. Being a very avid exerciser my friend mentioned to me this work-out facility that we could enroll for a membership at during the work we would be enduring for the summer. Initially it seemed like a great idea until there were unfortunate circumstances. My reasonable complaint is that the facility never conformed to the standard advertised on the website browser. Upon the first handful of work-outs that I would participate in it became apparent that the equipment was somewhat antiquated (rust on the dumbells, uncomfortable/detrimental contraptions, imbalanced benches). The stench of body odor was pungent during July heat-wave to due to the lack of ventilation within the facility. During some occasions the attendant staff spoke harshly to elderly adults with inquiries. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the presentation. Come late August when it dawned time to return to my home state of Pennsylvania for college courses I made an agreement to cancel my membership verbally with some staff. Maybe it was my misunderstanding or their lack of due diligence yet I was convinced that no further action needed to be proceeded. I returned to my native state without any expectation of incurring charges. September 2, I received an email disclaiming that a decline fee was issued. I neglected this email considering to my belief I had previously been absolved from the contract itself. September 12, this is redundant another charge! September 23 I forwarded an email exclaiming that I haven’t even been present within the state nor utilizing their services. I cancelled my membership. Reflecting today 11/04/25 a letter was sent. According to their “thirty-day cancellation policy” I never terminated my membership until October 23, not September 23. I considered to myself that this is ludicrous. Under the impression that I cancelled the contract, a pungent gym, decline fees. I want my money back.

I’ve been going to this facility for years when in town. Recent visit: People don’t clean the machines after use. One machine is not working. Apparently management knows and doesn’t do anything. I did not find the front desk friendly. The bathroom sinks were disgusting with gunk around the upper portions of the sinks and crusts on the faucets. Just because this is the main game in town for out of towners needing a workout doesn’t mean they shouldn’t do better!!

Came here once. And from that point on it was the best gym I’ve ever been to. Every morning I got a Cookie Monster protein shake, and boy those shakes were amazing. The equipment was clean, amazing, and a lot of it. The staff were Sooooooo nice. Just amazing good people. I would drive 6 hr just to come back.

I have been working out here for over a year. Small gym with limited space but, well maintained. Today one of the trainers interrupted me in mid set so he could put a barbell back on the rack. He could have waited 10 seconds until I was done. I have been lifting weights for 40 years. What he did was poor gym etiquette and dangerous.

It’s a gym’s gym. I’m able to get a complete circuit training routine done in less than an hour. Complete body workout head to toes using a good variety of techniques available of pulley resistance, free weights, and rack set ups. I streeet cycle for my aerobic workout but there is a good choice of equipment for that too.

This is our primary Pure Fitness location. While it's not the biggest or newest, it's perfect for us. We're getting to know the regulars, the hours of operation are convenient, as is the location.

The staff is helpful and engaging. The equipment is maintained well, the layout is functional with enough room for personal space.

We enjoy the app that provides access to sign up for group classes, location information, and ability to set and track goals.

The group class instructors we've had are great and have built a dedicated following.

If you're in the Bethany, Ocean View, Frankford, or Millville area and considering joining a gym, this place needs to be on your list.

Regarding facilities/equipment need new treadmills, men’s bathroom is too small, needs another toilet and the new lockers are too big, they stick too far out. Wonderful classes, including barre, body pump, yoga, cycle, etc. Terrific teachers for all! I do wish the group exercise room was kept cleaner with another couple trash cans outside of bathrooms, fewer dead bugs, and cleaner floor. The only area where we can get water is crowded with cleaning supplies, mostly dirty. Totally gross in that corner. A filthy push broom is kept there and obviously never cleaned from sweeping, NEVER. Toilets and sink clean, but cobwebs behind toilet, floor dirty, scale and under scale dirty. Weights are kept in heavy iron rack. The rack itself is full of dust and under the rack is a disgrace. The room should be completely emptied, scrubbed top to bottom, including ceiling fans perhaps once a month by Stanley Steamer or similar. If you raise fees by maybe $2 a month and explain why, I'll bet everyone would be thrilled. 5 stars to instructors, 2 stars for cleanliness.
I never go into main gym so cannot comment on that. Before Pure Fitness purchased our gym, it was spotless.

I do not make it a habit to post. Only do so when I’m truly impressed or something is unique. This gym has all the equipment you would want and it’s laid out well. This alone would not cause me to post. The staff is friendly and helpful. Again not enough for me to post. So, why am I posting? I’m posting because the gym is very very clean. Not an easy accomplishment when you consider the number of patrons they serve hourly. The bathroom and lockers are spotless. The equipment is cleaned/ wiped down constantly. In other words the gym checks all of the boxes. Enjoy.

Been coming here for years when visiting Bethany in the summer on vacation. For a smaller gym, it has everything you would need to get in a good workout. Plenty of dumbbells, cable machines, squat racks, machines, etc.

If coming in the summer time, expect it to be busy. Or at least whenever I worked out it always is (8AM). But it's nice to have a gym local and to get in a workout before hitting the beach for the day.

Recently I purchased a Pure fitness $24 introductory membership in Ocean View, DE. The manager Tristen asked if there was anything she could do to make my experience better and for my feedback First i joined as part of your introductory offer for $24. After using the Ocean View location once I tried to get my money back. The Ocean View's location is old the machine pads are discolored and dirty. The locker room (if it can be called a locker room) is very small and again filthy. When using the treadmill I noticed the platform shakes.

I joined that location because I'm renting a home in Bethany Beach for the next couple of months while my home in Millsboro is being built so I don't want to travel to go to another Pure facility. Unfortunately the facility is well below par and request my money back.

Tristen apologized and explained that location was an acquisition but stated the 3 day refund policy. So not really concerned that Pure Fitness is selling an inferior product. Not sure why she reached out twice???

I don’t know how their other facilities are but look carefully before purchasing a membership!

You are correct it is the same filthy facility that I signed up for I didn’t have time to properly inspect but after one visit I realized the condition it was in. Also Pure Family Fitness doesn’t deny it is at best below par. If you’re ok taking my money so be it. The purpose of the review is to prevent others from make the same mistake I made.

Editing my review from 9 months ago. None of the equipment has been upgraded in years. This place puts no money into upgrading anything. Can honestly say if there was a Planet Fitness near by I'd be outta here.

9/23 - editing the review again. The treadmills are out of order, the TV hooks ups don't work on half of them, there seems like zero reinvestment being made in this gym. I am so hopeful that a planet fitness comes nearer to Bethany Beach, so I can dump this dump. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone

This business has been stealing my money for months. The gym is completely average and very small. They’ve been charging me more than their most expensive membership for months. When I found out, I asked the front desk to drop my membership down. They told me I couldn’t and they still continue to charge me $40 when they don’t even offer a $40 membership and they refuse to make it right. When I emailed them they said they “couldn’t verify that I made that request” even though, again, they don’t even offer a membership at that price. They’ve just been quietly collecting my money, apparently hopping I wouldn’t notice. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND

This place is very busy, get ready to wait. I won't renew my membership. I started going in the winter so your response isn't irrelevant for just the summer months. In January its busy. I did not take any photos of the gym but I did buy a guest pass for a week for $60 when I visited my parents at the beach. The first day I got there was a good time it was not crowded and I was able to use the dead lift machine and all the other things except the dead lift machine was a little bit tightly fit in and you do have to sort of tuck in so people can walk by.

On the second day, it was very crowded and I decided to come back later. I also went to an exercise class of women doing weights and movements, like lunges and kicks and sit ups. I enjoyed it.

If I were the gym owner, I would add a water filter station because Delaware water needs a little bit of help and we don’t want to keep pumping out plastic.

*** added after owner response. There is only a water fountain with tap water. I tried it and taste the chlorine and metals. Its not a water filter station. I am not sure why he is this unless its a typo.

My second trip to Skyterra was as good if not better than my first. The staff is terrific- knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. They go out of their way to do whatever a guest wants, for example delivering meals, adding individual hikes or working on a tailored fitness program. A very clean, well-managed club with a lot of equipment, both free weights and machines. There are a lot of classes at no additional charge and the ones I take are very good. They also offer personal training if you are looking for that.

People are friendly of course BUT WAY TOO SMALL. Demand is profound obviously but don't expect a space to do floor work. Expect to have to vary your pattern to wait and STILL stop working out.

Please Clean the main aerobics room! Top to especially the bottom as in the floor! The mirrors & glass doors are filthy. The instructors overall are good ( some we love). But it desperately needs a MAJOR PROFESSIONAL CLEANING!

Love this gym! They have so many options for group classes and spin. My all time favorite is les mills body pump but I’ve tried so many new ones. Love all the instructors. Reasonable, clean and friendly. What more can you ask for?!

The instructors are great! Clean towels are missed and often there are insufficient cleaning supplies to wipe off equipment before and after class.
The gym floor is very dirty. These complaints have not been addressed over time.

I have enjoyed all of the classes I have taken with Kathy, Val, Tina, Murray and Neil. Working out in the gym is also a good experience as the employees are very friendly and helpful as well as the facility is well equipped and clean.

This gym is a great place to get in shape affordably. Either you exercise alone at your own pace or join one of the many group classes, not overly crowded, awesome instructors, great schedules! Ah, the private trainers are also excellent!!

All instructors are professional and skilled. They suggest modifications if a person needs. They are punctual and energetic.
