I have been coming here since they opened as Steel City gym. Any review older than 1
Year- prior to August of 2024, pertains to the old gym and management. I train with the owner Doug- who is able to motivate this old man. I am stronger now at 68 YO than I have been since I was in my 50’s. The people at the gym are friendly and the folks that work here treat everyone with respect. Now matter what you are looking for in a gym this place has it- if you want to be a heavy lifter you can do it. If you want to do cardio and supplement with some weight training you are home. Also the price is right. I am ecstatic that I found Steel City.

Hopefully the Owner doesn't treat his customers the same way he treats his vendors. My company changed out his signs in July 2024 and still have not been paid fully. I gave Doug a payment plan, which he didn't pay fully. I have sent him numerous emails and made several phone calls and left several messages for him and he hasn't returned any of them. So this is the reason for the review.

I’ve been to a lot of different gyms but this one by far is the best environment. Everyone is so nice and I rarely ever have to wait to use a machine. Could they benefit from a few more machines? Maybe yes. But holistically this gym is the best gym I’ve ever been to.

An excellent community gym with accoutrements for the hobbyist as well as the serious lifter or exerciser. The staff is top notch and very helpful and friendly. The place is larger on the inside. They have equipment and machines for every type of exercise, at least all the variations I do. They have several multi use rooms available. It's never crowded. Some of the machines may not be the newest but they get the job done. Trainers and classes available as well as showers. Highly recommend. Also I love the power metal they play often. Killer. Also the gym has no notes around it as some reviewer wrote. The whole place is cleanly painted and decorated with some tasteful inspiring quote photos. Ignore the haters.

A great community gym with friendly staff that greets you each time you walk through the door. Cleanliness and maintenance of equipment, which there is a large variety of, is obviously a priority. Plenty of personal trainers with varying backgrounds to help with achieving all of your fitness goals!

Everything about the gym itself is great and I miss it but affording $60 a month is just not feasible, especially for its size. If there was an option to pay less for a very basic type of membership , no access to classes or anything else besides the equipment I’d be back in there 7 days a week like before.

Great gym for this town. A town where there seem to be every possible chain, this gym remains a family owned facility and it shows on how nice and accommodating they are to new gym goers. My wife and I joined together and from day one they knew our name, they showed us ways to be more effective, suggested best times to go, just made us feel like family. All members seem to be very respectful and helpful. The volume of people working out compared to the chains in town is very light. I have never had to wait long at all for any equipment I wanted to use. I see body builders in there as well as old folks like me just trying to stay healthy.

As a local this gym does the job. I would recommend it. It extremely old school which I like. I came from La fitness in bear and I like here so much better. 24 hrs, not crowded at all. It’s small and no distracting tvs. You’re here to workout not watch tv.

During the early months of COVID-19 response, Frank was quick to respond to an inquiry regarding membership dues. The gym was mandated to close at the state level and they professionally responded by suspending membership dues and had an positive attitude. Later, when the state opened up, the group class schedule was adjusted and no longer fit my family's time availability to attend. The business rapidly responded to my request to put the membership on hold. This level of professionalism is not often seen these days and you normally spend hours going back and forth to come to a conclusion. The response was appropriate and I look forward to engaging with Village Gym in the future when scheduling allows.

Tried to cancel my membership February 8 due to a recent move. I was told that there is a 30 day cancellation policy and since memberships are renewed on the first of every month I had to pay for the entire month of March. Thought I was avoiding the chain gym feel with this place, absolutely abysmal treatment for a customer of several years.

A great gym for this town. I walked in and knew immediately it had the right variety of equipment for all levels of fitness and for what I needed in a gym. You definitely have access to a wide variety of gear for such a small space. The price is outstanding for 24/7 access. And to me, one of the most important things is that the owners and patrons clearly take pride in the space and keeping the gym clean and organized.

This club is terrible from it's broken 60s era equipment, to it's lack of maintenance. It's owners are beyond rude. They post rude letters all around the gym calling their customers stupid. Today I found one on a piece of old, broken gym equipment. It blamed a former "stupid" member. Unfortunately the owners furnish old broken down equipment to their customers, and it breaks often! The terribly rude owner posts rude things everywhere they can; including the bathroom.. They post rules on how to use the toilet.. Perhaps they should worry about maintenance so their toilets and equipment will function with the normal use which is occurring. And perhaps they will update their equipment to feature objects which are modern, and not deathly dangerous and useless. Listen to your members; Or you won't have many.

I tried each and every gym in middletown. Village gym is the best. Has everything you need weather your goal is to lose weight or build muscles. Joe and Christi ( owenrs) take great care of this gym . I am doing personal training with Joe. He is an excellent trainer. He knows when to push ans when to stop. I would highly suggest this gym .

Friendly "mom and pop" type gym, has lots of variety when it comes to workout equipment. It is most definitely my favorite gym I've come across. It is smaller than others so I like to go during the less busy hours.

This gym is RATTY, OLD, and smells like MOLD/MILDEW. The weights and equipment looked like they are from the Schwarzenegger body building days. The lady had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to sign up, LOL. You would need to pay me to go to this gym!!! Then I walked into ANYTIME FITNESS in Middletown and felt like I was in paradise. Equipment was new, gym was clean, and the staff/ owners made me feel like family.

THE OWNER IS A POLICE OFFICER SO US SHEEP DOGS MUST SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR OUR BROTHER!!!.
