It’s been 3 months since I met Jon at Bench Gym. I had never been to a gym before and I had been really frustrated with my body shape and my weak strength, at that time. I tried Yoga classes or Palate classes elsewhere but felt overwhelmed with the pressure from my peers and trainers. But Jon, as well as Dominic, helped me regain my confidence and optimism by offering me super professional instructions and encouragement. I really appreciate it. I used to feel reluctant to exercise but now I no longer feel scared and uncomfortable when it’s time for my training session. I have to admit that I still have a long way to go but with Jon, I feel confident that I can make it. I strongly recommend them to all, especially those who need more confidence and support for their training!

I used Bench Gym for a couple weeks while visiting for business. The staff responded quickly and communicated effectively. The gym is not large, but has everything you would need. It's located in the lobby of a commercial building, but once you figure that out, it's not difficult to locate. There was never more than two other clients when I was there, so even though it was small it never felt cramped. The workout itself was effective and efficient. They prioritized my safety (prior injury to consider) along with my workout program, which was very appreciated.

Trust me! Bench Gym is The Best personal training in DC! I was really obese and weighed 235 pounds before, and I had no idea about how to do body training at all. Then I started to train with Jon on Jan 2022, and I've lost 65 pounds since then. I'm also being able to maintain my current body weight, 170 pounds, while gaining more muscles. I have never written a review before, but I must give Bench Training Gym a perfect 5/5! The trainers at this gym are very knowledgeable and friendly. I trained with Jon Ponce and each session was challenging. He pushes you to do your best and encourages you to ask questions. Each training session is customized depending on your fitness goals and the gym is metro accessible (Farragut North Metro). I have been training with Bench Gym for 4 months now and the experience is excellent. I train mostly with Jon, but also had several sessions with Dominic. Each has their own training style but both are super friendly, considerate, and dedicated. I used to be so weak that I fainted after 20 min of workout but the trainers here carry so much positive energy, they keep encouraging and pushing me forward, adjusting training sessions to my specific conditions to help me get better incrementally each time.

This place is a hidden gem. It doesn't look as spacious and flashy as other places but the dedication and friendliness of trainers are unparalleled.

I can't recommend Bench Gym enough. Jon and Dominic are great attentive trainers, equipped with everything you could want for a good workout, and they work with you to execute your fitness goals. I had absolutely no previous background in sports, weightlifting, fitness, or diets, but knew I needed to lose some weight post COVID quarantine. So far, I've lost over 20lbs since working with them and they've been nothing but helpful and encouraging. Highly recommend their gym for your next workout!

I love this place! I first went to Bench Gym Personal Training about 10 years ago and had the pleasure to train with both Jon Ponce and Dominic. Both of them certainly know what they are doing. I was a client of Bench Gym for over 10 years before leaving the DC area in December, 2020. While I have been to countless "big box" gyms in the past, I NEVER felt the sense of family, personal attention and professionalism that I felt while at Bench Gym. The place is contagious because not only do they care about your health and well-being, their professional style and expertise yields results. I worked out primarily with Dominic and Jon for all those years and despite not wanting to go on occasions, I knew I would feel better after spending time with them working out and seeking advice on healthy living. Since leaving D.C., I must say I do miss the gym and the people there. Change is hard. Making that personal fitness change for me was difficult but I know that there is someone else who took my spot there who will love and enjoy their quest for personal fitness and healthy living as much as I did. Kudos to BenchGym. You are MISSED.

Bench Gym has the best personal trainers in DC!!! I have been exercising in this gym three times a week for almost a year and this is my personal record. I work with Jon Ponce and really enjoy his teaching style. He is very considerate, attentive and gentle. He makes a real effort to understand the priorities of each client and adjusts the exercises to their needs. For example, when I got a foot injury and was walking in a boot, Jon adapted my training routine so I could continue exercising without hurting the injured joint.

I rarely leave reviews but feel like this place is a hidden gem. I really like the welcoming atmosphere, the variety of equipment and of course the creativity of the trainers. I would strongly recommend this place for people of all ages and abilities as the coaches are really good at creating individualized programs for their clients. In addition to Jon, I also worked with Dominic and liked his training style as well. The gym is conveniently located close to Dupont Circle and has flexible working hours.

I’ve had several weekly personal training sessions with Jon Ponce at Bench Gym. Previously I used my university’s gym. Personal training with Jon is so much better. He prepares a routine of mostly different exercises each time. He customizes each session to my particular needs. For example, Jon knows a bit about yoga, and incorporates exercises that I need to improve balance. When needed, he uses a series of exercises that help lower back sensitivity. Jon is with his client every minute of the session. He presses me to reach my limit of weight or repetitions; he helps me until I fail. I cannot quit. Bench Gym is a pleasant place. It is only the personal trainers and their clients. It is never crowded. The locker room is nicely appointed. I never thought I would say this … I actually like to go to my personal training with Jon. I look forward to it, and miss it when I am out of town. I have a feeling of well-being and physical competence from my sessions with Jon. I don’t go to be a muscle man. I go to be more fit and healthy, and that means mentally as well as physically.
