Great gym membership if you’re looking for an executive level gym that takes every detail into account to accommodate the member. Clean machines, weight floors, and outstanding staff.

Equinox is truly exceptional! The classes are engaging, challenging, and led by phenomenal coaches who know how to motivate and support you. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere every time I walk in.
The club is spotless, well-maintained, and has everything you need for a great workout. What really makes the difference is the culture, it feels like a community that genuinely wants you to succeed. Highly recommend!

Been coming here for a few years (because there’s no other gym reasonable from where I live, use to go to balance before it closed). Everything below, remember this is a $200+ a month gym (only offers weights, cardio, classes and a steam room nothing else)
Doesn’t open until 8pm on weekends. I looked up other gyms , all open at 7 (cheaper ones too). Never seen anything like that.
During peak times I can count numerous almost always, trainers using multiple machines, saving them while not using. Or sitting equipement using it for multiple exercises occupying it for 20-30+min. There’s not much equipment to begin with and during peak times everything is being used.
This also applies to patrons. I’ve seen and noted people will use the adjustable benches (only 3/4) for up to 30min-1hr DURING peak!
The music is obnoxiously loud all the time, you basically are required to have noise canceling headphones if you want to listen to your own stuff or think.
Overall is it worth the money, no way (gyms in this price range have saunas, pools etc, x2-3 the equipment). Is it okay enough because no other gym works , yea it gets the job done in the range of a 50-100 month gym.

The Good:
The space is modern and well-maintained. Everything is clean and feels fresh, from the locker rooms to the workout areas. The gym offers a wide range of group classes—yoga, HIIT, spin, strength training—you name it. There’s definitely something for everyone, except Pilates on a reformer machine, which is offered separately at an additional cost.
The Not-So-Great:
The biggest issue is the equipment-to-member ratio. During peak hours, expect to wait. There are only two bench presses and one leg extension machine, which just isn’t enough given how many people use the space. This can be frustrating if you’re trying to follow a structured routine and end up wasting time waiting your turn. Parking costs 5 dollars. Add that to your 225 a month membership, the value may not be there.

I’ve been a member here for over 2 1/2 years. It’s probably the best overall gym I’ve ever been a member of! Staff is always friendly and courteous, locker rooms are clean and well appointed, workout floor is always orderly and generally in good working condition. After working with my trainer Cale for over a year, I’m probably in the best shape of my life. Couple that with a weekly yoga class, I couldn’t ask for me in terms of my fitness level. Highly recommended gym!

Just took the TRX Max class at Equinox Anthem Row with Payton L. and I can’t say enough good things about it. Payton is an incredible instructor, extremely personable and genuinely welcoming. I was so impressed by how she remembers everyone’s name and creates an environment where you feel seen and included. She clearly explains every movement and offers encouragement throughout, which made a huge difference for someone like me who doesn’t always feel super confident in group fitness settings. I really, really enjoyed the class and left feeling energized and accomplished. Absolutely excellent!

I cannot begin to describe my sheer frustration with Equinox. Equinox Sports Club in Foggy Bottom has had no electricity for two days. They redirect us here, only for this equinox to have no hot water. Abysmal. Limited equipment here too. Avoid Equinox, don’t make this mistake.

Trying to signup and try the gym as well. The lady over the phone was not paying attention at all, I had to repeat what I said several times and I don’t feel comfortable joining a 12 month minimum commitment if it’s this difficult to communicate with staff, let alone not able to try any equipment. Not even a paid day pass, they want a full commitment without even trying it, or at least they denied me and approve others which is discriminatory. I’ve heard bad things already about this location and the reviews hold up.

Mediocre gym for the sky high cost of monthly dues. Used to have 3 SoulCycle bikes available to members, but one by one they have broken and been removed. The current bike has a broken seat, a disconnected power meter, and other issues. Staff are nice but the equipment is not maintained and tested like you’d expect from a “premium” gym.

Avoid this gym at all costs - they are predatory. They misled us when we signed up, indicating we could cancel within the first 2 months at no penalty. 45 days in we attempted to cancel due to dissatisfaction after they pressured and misled my partner to sign up for 12 PT sessions and they wouldn’t allow us to. We were told there was no proof of being misled, despite blatantly being lied to throughout the signup process this is a cold vile corporate environment - don’t fall for it.

I recently visited Equinox and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The location was pristine, providing an inviting and motivating atmosphere from the moment I walked in. The facility was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which made me feel comfortable during my workout. They had all the major equipment I needed. The staff was top-notch, offering friendly and professional service that enhanced my visit especially Harry at the front desk. Equinox truly stands out as a premier fitness center, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-quality gym experience.

Simon Birstad, a personal trainer was enormously helpfully personally, going way out of his lane to take care of me and my wellness. While I wish the facility had a sauna, it's clean, friendly and people with all body types - from ripped to just getting started are made to feel welcome.

Been a member for 1.5 years. The only reason I is because there is no other comparable gym nearby (tried VIDA and fled).
This location does not have enough equipment to accommodate the number of guests during peak hours (530am -730am). Personal trainers “save” equipment when they’re not using it during peak hours. Amenities don’t match the price tag. Bathrooms and lock rooms are clean, but sometimes not stocked. Classes are lack luster.
Lost an item. Front desk worker said they found it but couldn’t give it to me until the manager arrived. When I finally remembered to ask the manager about my lost item when I returned, I was informed they throw items away after a month. Sigh*
Unfortunately, I do not recommend this location.

My experience with Equinox has not been rewarding. This gym changes its policies so frequently that it's impossible to keep up. The first time I freezed my membership, I had to pay a fee per frozen month. The second time I freezed it, I was charged the total membership fee, without even being notified that the rules of the game had changed and now I had to pay the total amount and I would be refunded the difference between the freeze fee and the membership at the end of the first year. Then, when I had to freeze my membership for the third time, I encountered another set of unexpected fees: the fee corresponding to the three frozen months in advance, along with a prorated upfront charge for the next membership fee. Every time I try to do something as simple as freezing my membership, Equinox finds a new way to surprise me with hidden and unexpected charges.
But that's not all, communication with the staff is a complete disaster. How many times did I send unanswered emails, only to have to personally go to the gym and deal with a manager who wasn't even available? It's frustrating and a total waste of time. And let's not even mention the time I tried to get information about changing my plan and ended up being downgraded without even asking for it.
Equinox boasts of being the "temple of well-being," but in my experience, it's quite the opposite. Their lack of professionalism and effective communication has cost me time, money, and unnecessary stress. I don’t recommend this gym. It's time to find a place that truly cares about its customers and their well-being, something that Equinox clearly doesn't do.

I’m visiting from NYC. The staff was friendly, locker rooms clean, the equipment was well taken care of and plenty of space to work out. Loved the size of the steam room.
The thing I couldn’t get over was the god awful stench on the first floor and parts of the second. I really had to hold my breath. Blows my mind that a high end club would allow something so nasty to ruin their members experience.

just moved to DC from LA and was considering moving my membership to this location... Definitely not going to do it. The steam room was not hot at all, and when I called to complain about it they said it was on the regular setting. There was also low water pressure and no cold water in the showers. At this point i'm either canceling my membership or pausing it until the winsconsin ave location opens

Nice place, especially the locker rooms. Unfortunately the actual training space is not managed very well. I don't even think it's an overcrowded gym, they just have too much space dedicated to machines that are rarely used. The cardio area is massive and usually untouched. There are multiple studio spaces that seem to have no one in them. Really surprised that there's less availability on equipment in DC compared to the location I used in NYC.

HORRIBLE MANAGERS. I joined in Hollywood CA moved to DC and the staff disgusted me so much to the point where I cancelled my membership. Don’t waste your time or money on a gym that not only has horrible staff and treats their members poorly, but it doesn’t even have a jacuzzi or a pool, and the steam room is on medium so it doesn’t give you the health benefits. A complete waste of time. Honestly, from someone who knows how equinox is supposed to function, you’re better off going to OneLife or Lifetime fitness. Their cheaper, more amenities, professional staff and their not just there for a check their there because they care about people’s health and happiness. This equinox location doesn’t care about keeping their members. The manager Megan doesn’t even respond to members when they need to talk to her she throws her hands up and tells her employees to deal with it. She takes no responsibility for her carless job and just hangs out and ignores everything that isn’t beneficial to her. Her personality is “don’t bother me with that.” A narcissist.
By the way I contacted concierge and no response. I emailed her to cancel my membership, she emailed back and asked why, I gave her my list of complaints and no response. Didn’t even tell me my cancellation was pending leaving me to angrily call the front desk to tell them to take my card off file because nobody is confirming my cancellation. There’s no reason for Megan to have this type of responsibility in a job. She is clearly too comfortable and doesn’t care. They must be low in management staff. The training manager sucks too she’s the same way. Unresponsive. It’s clear this is the work environment and culture.

Edit:
Today the light burst while I was in the steam room, with glass shattering everywhere. I escaped without getting hurt, but it was scary. It took at least 20 minutes for someone to come down to block off the room. The front desk seemed genuinely unconcerned and was rude to me when I asked if I could give my contact details in case anyone needed further information about the incident. There didn’t seem to be a protocol in place for how to deal with the situation.

I love this gym. Given that there are over 100 classes each week in addition to the gym, it is actually pretty cost effective compared to the high prices of so many boutique fitness places around that cost well over 100 (sometimes 200) a month for just one kind of class. Having access to the Equinox+ app is a huge value add. The shower rooms are magnificent--lots of space to sit, dry my hair, and get ready for the rest of my day after working out. Most of the staff is extremely friendly, and I love the community feel. Taneeka went above and beyond to help me with a problem I had accessing my membership on her day off.
Great instructors. Challenging and fun classes. I never want to leave! Saving up to be able to afford personal training sessions!

I visited the new Anthem Row Equinox gym in Washington DC on a trip. The gym is clean and modern, with plenty of space for cardio equipment and classes. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The downside was that the resistance training equipment is a bit basic and uninspired, a drawback for those looking for advanced equipment. However, for those focused mainly on cardio and classes, this gym has what you need.
One thing to note is that it can get quite busy and crowded on Saturdays, particularly around 10am, so plan accordingly. Overall, I recommend this gym for anyone looking for a clean, friendly and well-equipped fitness center in Washington DC.

I like it but I hate the hours they open at 5:30 and they close early. Specially, in the weekend they’re not open until 730 does no consideration for the people who wake up early to go to work even in the weekend or work late in weekends
. I think they need to change the hours. We are not in Covid anymore
We should get more for our money especially from the most expensive gym.
it’s not convenient when you drive because there is no parking and it’s very expensive to park in the garage

Completely turned off by my experience with the membership associate, Jacqueline, and manager, Brandon. They were discriminatory and disrespectful, and rude when I expressed concern at how I was treated.
At the end of my tour, I asked about month-to-month options because I travel a lot for work and flexibility is important to me. Jacqueline informed me that they only offer annual contracts. She said, "Equinox is not for everyone, and it's not for people who believe their workout goals can be achieved in a month. You can consider gyms like Planet Fitness", asked if I had any questions and showed me the door.
I've never been spoken to by a sales representative like that before. I was told, not asked, that Equinox wasn't the right fit for me simply for asking a question. I was shocked and thought it was disrespectful, condescending, and confusing. Why would asking about month-to-month options trigger such a response?
It was clearly a dig and an assumption that I couldn't afford to pay and don't fit their brand of people that they want at the gym. I was told the $213 monthly rate via phone the day before and I still chose to come in. Clearly the price wasn't a dealbreaker for me.
I spoke to Brandon afterwards about how off-putting that experience was and he said that he apologized if I felt disrespected but it's true that "equinox is not for everyone" and if my experience made me feel like it's not the right fit for me, he understands that choice. In other words, he stands by what was said and they do not care about losing me as a potential member.
To be clear, my choice to find another gym will be 100% based on the treatment by the staff. It's a nice gym, I have friends there and I wanted to make it work, even with my schedule. In fact, I was referred to the gym by two friends, but if this is how they treat referrals, I can't even imagine how they treat other inquiries.
I'll note that I am a Black woman and neither Jacqueline nor Brandon are Black. Would they have spoken to a White woman wearing Lululemon the same way?

I sincerely regret joining Equinox. The facilities are nice and well-maintained. But the overcrowding at virtually all hours of the day is completely out of control. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how nice or luxurious the gym is, or how many amenities there are, if you can’t actually use any of the equipment because the gym is a mosh pit. (And, for nearly every piece of equipment, there is only one, so good luck racing the other members to get it when it becomes free--don't blink!)
Thankfully, I have a corporate membership, so I can cancel after three months, but I think their standard commitment is twelve months. I definitely wouldn’t commit to that given how disparate the actual experience is from their marketing.

The best Equinox I've been: super clean, nice staff, never too crowded. Steam room is great.
The managers – namely Taneeka – are super professional, nice, and accommodating. If something breaks, it's fixed in record time.
Reccs for management:
– extend the open hours, closes too early: 10PM (weekdays), 9PM (Fridays), and 7PM (weekend),
– Protein shake bar should open

I was a member at this location for over 2 years. I have nothing but positive experience overall. Before I signed up, they gave me a detailed tour and patiently answered my never-ending questions. The membership & auto-payment set up was a breeze. They have generous free weight area, very clean floors/lockers/restrooms, new & good quality machines, awesome shampoo/body wash/moisturizer products, and had a satisfactory enforcement of mask requirement during the pandemic. I felt quite safe and enjoyed my workouts.
Just so you know though, it can get busy/crowded during 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the weekdays. (Mostly from Monday to Wednesdays) Other than that, they also don't have a pool or basketball court like the one in Dupont Circle location. Anthem Row location is smaller comparing to Dupont Circle.
Lastly, I think what I like most about this location is the overall quality of other gym members. I mean don't get me wrong, I've been to other gyms too, but at this location people are just doing their own thing, they don't come bother you, or push you around/rush you to finish your set quickly, walk around with a shirt off, or yell over your head and chat with their friends, or listen music very loudly, etc. Other gym members I've had interacted with during my membership were always quite polite/well mannered folks. I'll miss this location.

So glad Equinox has found its way into DC proper! This location is spacious by New York Equinox standards, both on the floor, which is a single floor with ample natural light, and the men’s locker room. It’s very clean, the staff are friendly and beautiful, and everything is in great repair. I’ve never been to an Equinox where the stretching area was so well-equipped (bands etc etc) and well organized. The Juice Press was small and didn’t have much, but that seems to be the way of Equinox juice bars over the last several years. 😢
