I didn’t sign up for a membership here, but I did take a tour. I’ve been to several Equinox locations in California and NYC, and the services and amenities there were noticeably better. The parking lot at this location is very tricky to navigate, it feels like taking a driving test. I was told I’d need to sign a 12-month contract just to try a class, and the lack of flexibility in term length or in freezing the account was a deal-breaker for me.

As long as Brian is involved in memberships at Georgetown location, we will go to Equinox. He is a pleasure to work with. And his hospitality and follow thru is unmatched. I highly recommend setting up a meeting with him. Ask for Brian, at Equinox Sports Club in Georgetown! Amazing place!

Equinox Sports Club DC is the best gym in the area. The group classes are great, particularly the schedule and instructors. I’ve been working with Caroline, a fantastic trainer, and she’s already helped me meet and exceed my fitness goals. She helped me get stronger and improve my form. I love this gym and highly recommend for everyone!

I am changing my review since there is no cafe anymore. There is nothing anymore.
First things first: 0$ initiation is a scam which leads you to sign a one year contract where you must pay for every month (you cannot freeze).
If you freeze a month, you have to pay 100$ (you are not even visiting the gym).
Needless to say, everything that is in the gym (for that price) still costs money. The trainers are a slop, they cost 150$, yet give you the most basic excercises.
The machines on the first floor are always half broken, same as second floor. Something is always broken, and since there is barely any machines, they are almost always taken. Needless to say, they are VERY old. For a 250$ experience, this is absurd. 250 being a student price (funny, right?).
Sauna temperature is made for grandparents.
They removed their only cafe, which had fantastic people, was cheap, had great and tasty smoothies and sandwiches, salads, was truly one and only in Washington DC. You think yhey would utilize money from this cafe on something else? Of course not. Constant leaks and swimming pool closures are here to stay no matter what.
They also never listen to their customer feedback, so yes. The faster you leave — the faster they close and stop scamming people.

Compared to the services the membership is way too high. The showers are too old and some major renovation is needed and the Sauna temperature needs to be regulated.

Here’s an email I sent to Equinox management this week. To their credit, Alex Anos responded within hours but the reply was basically a boilerplate message telling me (nicely) to deal with it. At this point, My next stop is St. James, and that decision’s just about made.
I’m writing to highlight serious concerns regarding the Equinox experience in the D.C. region. While Equinox heavily markets an elevated, premium membership, what’s actually being delivered falls far short.
Across the entire D.C. and Maryland area, there is only one Equinox location that even has a sauna , the Sports Club D.C. All other locations only offer steam rooms, which promote mold and fungus, not true detoxification benefits that a sauna provides. For the price of full membership access, this lack of consistency is unacceptable and was not made clear when I joined.
The food vendor was terrible, and with no replacement yet, members are left having to leave the club to find food after workouts.
Weekend hours are terrible, closing far too early to accommodate serious members and professionals with busy schedules.
The parking validation sensor constantly malfunctions, and when it does, I’m stuck either waiting around to fix it, risking being late to appointments or having to eat the cost of a full-priced parking fee. I’ve already paid over $150 because of these issues. On top of that, the three-hour parking limit is not enough when including a full workout, recovery, and meals.
There’s no water filtration for showers or steam rooms, despite D.C.’s known water quality problems, far from the “luxury wellness” standards Equinox promises.
When you charge premium rates, members expect premium facilities across all locations, not isolated exceptions. I hope these issues will be addressed with the seriousness they deserve.

The only thing that kept me from joining equinox after trying them out is their soaps, shampoos and lotions. They leave a disgusting smell on your skin. Bring back Kiehls soap. That stuff was awesome. Besides that the club is outdated. They just took over a lower brand generic gym and put new equipment in it. I could deal with that if the soaps and lotions were better. Definitely not joining.

1. I would give it negative stars on part of customer service. They canceled my membership over a week in advance. I get texts back extremely late.
2. Showers are old and sauna temperature is seldom regulated.
3. Extremely loud music. Bleeds through my headphones.
4. Nudity in men’s locker room is just a culture shock and a bit unsettling.
5. Got a 25 min sports massage and that was quite incredible. BUT, tea kettle wasn’t even filled.
6. Very underwhelming waiting areas.
Since their premature cancellation of my account, my account manager has been unresponsive.

The teachers here are amazing! They are what made me keep my membership for the past 2 years. Especially Mike, Jess, Mimi and Emma are absolutely wonderful. I truly enjoy their classes.
I’m only giving 3 stars because the hygiene levels at the club are not very good. People walk on the yoga mats with their shoes on, and nothing is said about it by the teachers unfortunately.
Also, the sauna is very unhygienic. So many people go in to the sauna with their sweaty gym clothes and even their gym shoes on! You are supposed to shower before entering the sauna, but unfortunately this rule is not enforced at all. Also, many people bring their phones into the sauna. This creates a very unsafe environment. I would expect better from equinox.
I have raised the sauna issue many times, with the club manager, with the staff walking around and with the front desk. Nobody has been able to do anything. Also, the front desk told me “this is the reason we don’t go into the sauna ourselves, it is very dirty”.
Can you imagine that the staff at equinox themselves realize that the sauna is an unsafe and unhygienic environment, yet nothing is being done? I’m honestly shocked.. this is supposed to be an elite club, and they definitely charge elite prices, but they unfortunately don’t live up to the bare minimum when it comes to hygiene and safety.

I have to agree with the comments about the loud music. The volume has increased in recent months to the point where you can't have a conversation with others. A gym friend has been monitoring the volume on his iPhone and it's usually around 90 decibels (dB). That's exactly the level it was just a few days ago on April 18th when both of us were standing in the hallway near the swimming pool. If you Google 90 dbs, you can see what machinery that volume is equivalent to and the duration of exposure before you have hearing loss. I was told the same thing as another reviewer about the energetic music and motivation (must be corporate Equinox standard language) but if you look around the gym, you'll see that the targeted audience in their twenties and thirties are usually wearing AirPods and aren't listening to Equinox music, anyway. After four years, I am cancelling my membership effective the end of the month. As for the gym itself, it's very clean, the steamroom and sauna are almost never broken unlike other gyms, the swimming pool is fantastic, and they never seem to run out of clean towels. The equipment IS old, as other reviewers have mentioned, but it is always in working order. If a knob falls off a handle or if a seat becomes ripped, it's repaired in a timely manner. Still, it would be nice to have some new equipment, considering the monthly membership fee is in the $250 range. I've only seen the cardio equipment replaced in the four years I've been a member. And some additional strength machines would be nice; there's plenty of space to bring in a few more machines. Personally, I would have loved a dedicated triceps machine. Just set it up near the dedicated biceps machine!
Nice, courteous gym members, too, in my experience.

I am deeply disappointed with the recent changes at the Washington DC Sports Club and Bethesda. The replacement of Kiehl's products with a new line has been a major letdown. The new product not only has an unpleasant and overpowering fragrance but also caused adverse reactions on my skin, making it clear that it is not suitable for all users. Additionally, the facilities at these locations are in dire need of an update. Many areas are outdated, and the overall maintenance seems to be neglected. The lack of attention to upkeep diminishes the experience, and it's clear that more effort is needed to bring this location up

Level of music at the Equinox on 22nd St in Washington DC is unbearable. It is impossible to have a conversation with a fellow member anywhere in the club - You cannot either say your name to the reception desk because they cannot hear you! And management has said that their “brand includes energetic music to motivate.” - level is unpleasant and probably unhealthy.

I had a negative experience following my visit to this gymnasium. I toured the facility and was told by the staff that I would receive an email to sign up. I later received a phone call indicating that there was a disgruntled employee who had issue with me signing up, I have never encountered such an issue prior to my experience at this gym in my life. I don’t know what to say. They will not share details.

LUXURY IN NAME ONLY
They really managed to piss me off inside 36 hours, and that is why I'm writing this review. There are 2 heating units in the men's Sauna, one of the machines stopped working back in March and its still yet to be fixed. Due to that its impossible to get a good sweat out in the Sauna during mornings nowadays because it barely goes over 150. You pay 200$ something in membership fee but they can't even fix a sauna machine in 8 months. On top of that people found human poop in the steam room, and in the shower area. The locker room looks like a military barrack rather than a "luxury" sports club locker room. It's a classic excel management work by a private equity owned company, in which they try to squeeze as much money as possible from you without spending anything on improvements.
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the trainers who work there such as Deion, Hector and Rafa who always have good vibes and energy. Timbo's classes are also very good.

Very poor customer service for such an expensive gym. Got this membership and moved closer to this location with the sole purpose of using the pool for health/medical reasons--before I signed up I was reassurred the pool would be in full working condition. My first full week at this Equinox, the pool became out of service for over a month, and they refused to pause my membership/refund me for that month or provide any compensation at all, ignoring my emails many times.

Updating my review to report that my previous review still stands true. The facilites are in severe decline. Swimming pool has been out of service for over a month now. One toilet in the women’s restroom has been broken for months. Major water leak began during Pilates class today (see photos). What you are paying for here does not align with the horrible facilities and building that is quite literally falling apart.
Restrooms are also filthy and lacking basic supplies.

It's a shame I can't leave less than a one-star review. What was a fine, premiere gym 23 years ago, Equinox on M St., NW DC now won't stop charging me and my son months after we stopped using our membership and I'm in a hospital in Scotland. Multiple pleas to not charge my account were ignored, as were my explicit instructions that permission to use my charge card was withdrawn. Perhaps good facilities but run by highly unethical management. Take your business elsewhere.

Jacob Williams (Jake) is a fantastic personal trainer and the reason I keep going to Equinox! I have worked with him for 3 years and, at 60, am stronger and more toned than I was 10 years ago. Compared to other trainers I've worked with, he is the absolute best at tailoring workouts to what I need at any time, whether it is preparing for a 7-day bike trip, alleviating shoulder pain, or just staying motivated. Jake really cares about his clients...and makes working out fun!
Any gym can have good equipment but really personalized training, like Jake does, is hard to find.

I have been a member for more than 10+ years.
The gym is huge, with tons of equipment and classes. Basically they have something for everyone. Also the equipment is well maintained.
The pool, indoor basketball court, and outdoor seating areas are fantastic.
I just wish they would have hand disinfectant available. While they have wipes to wipe down the machines it’s much more hygienic to also have have disinfectant available. They had it available during COVID but probably thought they can save money by removing it.
If you need a personal trainer they must have more so many to choose from.

Equinox Sports Club in Washington DC. The club's yoga studio (where I take classes 4x a week) had issues for 3 consecutive weeks: week 1) no music connectivity during any of the classes that week, week 2) broken AC (temps were 95+ outside), and week 3) broken AC (continuation of the issue from the previous week). In no instance did the club communicate a timeline that these issues would be resolved nor communicate with the instructors, who would apologize and complain alongside the members, but offered no information. I filed complaints with the front desk 4 times during this 3 week period and was told I would receive an email response: no response was received. After my 4th complaint, I asked for the card of the club manager and was given Nita Castillo's email. I emailed her twice before receiving a generic response which did not address my request for a refund or compensation for the weeks the club's facilities were not working. She ignored my request for a refund and offered guest passes instead. I responded back that 1) guest passes do not benefit me as I am a paying member and the guest passes would only benefit Equinox since it is free advertising for them. I am not interested in that as a solution. 2) She suggested I attend other clubs, Not a feasible solution since I arrange my workout specifically related to my work and childcare schedule, and 3) if there had been *ANY* communication from management regarding the timeline for repairs, I could have looked into re-arranging my schedule. Instead, there was zero information shared to instructors, nor signage, nor an email blast explaining the issue the timeline. Just silence and a hope no one would complain.
The lack of customer service and communication is appalling, especially from a brand that promotes itself as 'luxury'. To borrow from your slogan last year, customer service is the luxury, should be the slogan of Equinox because there is ZERO customer service or empathy (nor communication when things go wrong).

Conveniently located next to the Ritz-Carlton hotel, offers an exceptional fitness experience. The club is **huge and impeccably clean**, providing a wide array of amenities to cater to various fitness interests and needs.
Members can enjoy a diverse range of activities, including **yoga classes, a swimming pool, and a small restaurant** (Teria) that serves fresh drinks. The facility is equipped with a vast selection of exercise devices, ensuring that every workout regimen is well-supported.
One of the standout features is the **huge parking lot**, which is free for members. However, it is important to note that cars must be removed after 3 hours.
Overall, Equinox Sports Club offers a top-notch, well-rounded fitness environment with excellent facilities and amenities. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a comprehensive and upscale fitness experience.

I got a membership for my daughter who is a GW student and was struggling to work out at GW's facilities because they are small and crowded. She loves Equinox and used it almost daily all school year. Trainers have been welcoming and helpful to her, and she has had great experiences in all the classes she's done especially the cycle classes. When I first contacted the club about getting her the membership, the manager Joe was immediately responsive and reassuring and went out of his way to meet with my daughter and make her feel comfortable in her new city, far away from home. He has remained accessible and responsive all year for any questions. I am very happy that my daughter was so supported in wellness during her first year of college - Thank you Joe and staff!

My experience with Equinox has not been rewarding. This gym changes its policies so frequently that it's impossible to keep up. The first time I freezed my membership, I had to pay a fee per frozen month. The second time I freezed it, I was charged the total membership fee, without even being notified that the rules of the game had changed and now I had to pay the total amount and I would be refunded the difference between the freeze fee and the membership at the end of the first year. Then, when I had to freeze my membership for the third time, I encountered another set of unexpected fees: the fee corresponding to the three frozen months in advance, along with a prorated upfront charge for the next membership fee. Every time I try to do something as simple as freezing my membership, Equinox finds a new way to surprise me with hidden and unexpected charges.
But that's not all, communication with the staff is a complete disaster. How many times did I send unanswered emails, only to have to personally go to the gym and deal with a manager who wasn't even available? It's frustrating and a total waste of time. And let's not even mention the time I tried to get information about changing my plan and ended up being downgraded without even asking for it.
Equinox boasts of being the "temple of well-being," but in my experience, it's quite the opposite. Their lack of professionalism and effective communication has cost me time, money, and unnecessary stress. I don’t recommend this gym. It's time to find a place that truly cares about its customers and their well-being, something that Equinox clearly doesn't do.

They said I still had to pay the fee. I walked out.

I officially joined Equinox about two months ago now. For two months I have not been able to get a good steam from the steam room or the sauna. I arrive by 6 am EVERY week day, 8:30 on weekends and everytime I have attempted to steam after a workout, it’s either not on or has just been cleaned. The sign next to the steam room says cleaning time is between 2:45-3pm so I’m confused as to why the steam room wouldn’t be up and running first thing in the morning. I’ve told the nice girls at the front desk but I assume they can only do so much. The newest Equinox on Wisconsins steam room though is GREAT. I assume I’ll just have to switch to that location from now on

I recently visited the Equinox gym in Washington DC, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience, largely thanks to the incredible Laura P. From the moment I walked in, the amazing staff greeted me with such warmth and sincerity, making me feel instantly welcome. The staff enthusiastically introduced me to the various facilities, showcasing not only the gym's impressive amenities but also its commitment to maintaining a pristine environment.
The gym itself is a testament to cleanliness and organization. Every area, from the cardio machines to the free weights, was spotlessly maintained. The staff members I encountered were all friendly and professional, clearly taking pride in their work and the environment they help create.
But it was Laura's genuine approach that truly made my visit memorable. Her knowledge about the gym and her eagerness to help, combined with her personable attitude, made me feel more like a valued guest than just another visitor.
For anyone looking for a gym in DC, I can't recommend Equinox enough. It's not just about the facilities, which are top-notch, but also about the people who make it a great place to be. A huge thank you to Laura P. for such an outstanding introduction to what Equinox has to offer.

Decent facility but poor management and disappointing security. I recently incurred 'theft' at the gym where someone got into my locker (which was locked) and stole cash and credit cards summing to a 5 digit loss. After initial report to the management (which seems to change every week), they never got back to me. I also found from a staff member that another locker theft had occurred on the same day. I followed up with the management and the corporate office as well (concierge email) but no one responded. Furthermore, I haven't seen any steps taken by the club to improve security (ID not always checked at entry) nor warnings sent to club members to be diligent of their belongings given the thefts. The clubs indifference to this incident and lack of any action/communication has made me feel less secure and comfortable, which is disappointing for a ~$250 monthly membership. I am not sure if I can recommend this place.

For the amount of money Equinox charges, this particular location is sort of a disgrace to the entire brand. The men’s locker room is extremely dated, dingy and on life support at this point. It needs a serious makeover!! The fitness area is okay, but that men’s locker room, showers and steam room is just a big NO, compared to all the other locations I’ve been to. Equinox is a luxury fitness center and ALL their locations need to live up to that standard!

Misleading and unethical practices. I joined as a member of a single club, and after speaking with a membership advisor decided to upgrade my membership for regional access. It was explicitly stated that I could “downgrade at no additional costs” during the process. My bank notified me of inconsistent charges. After deciding that regional access was not needed, I decided to inquire about the inconsistent charges and process to downgrade. I was told that the pricing guaranteed by my contract was no longer applicable and I would have pay a higher price point to downgrade. I specifically asked if this would be the case prior to upgrading. At no point was this communicated to me during the process and I was erroneously led to believe that I would not be subject to additional increases should I downgrade. The person I spoke with had a “yeah, well that’s too bad” attitude. Such practices are unethical and misleading, I will be filing a FTC and BBB complaint.

Almost at the end of my year membership and will not be renewing simply due to the customer service. In my experience, a good amount of the staff are hard to work with and even snobby at times and its takes multiple calls and requests to get anything changed on my account.
Here are a few examples of the troubles I have had:
1) I called twice over the summer to freeze my membership for a few months while I was travelling. They said this would not be a problem and that they would do it.......I called a third time about month later to find out that they did not freeze it and were still charging me. When I told them about the first two times I called, they said they had no recollection of this happening. Kinda a waste of money for me in that case.
2) I was having some trouble with my personal training scheduling and called to get in contact with the PT Manager. I called multiple times over the course of a week and each time they told me he was busy. They assured me I would get a call back from him but this call never came. (kinda annoying he could not take the time for maybe a 15min conversation)
3) I had to cancel a PT session due to illness (strep) which they said meant I would not be charged a cancellation fee for my session. They definitely still charged me, and again, it was impossible to get into contact with the PT manager.
Overall, it's a great facility but I find the staff to be pretty inadequate and kinda rude (namely a front desk person named Shaniya and one of the club managers named Duane). I loved my trainer Evan (highly recommend) but in the end, I feel like I could get what I need at another gym with a nicer staff.

I'm a member in Austin, Texas and was in town for business. I wanted to check this club out to see how it compares to my homebase and I was not disappointed. As you'd expect at Equinox, the facilities were top-notch and the staff was very friendly. I was there early in the morning and can only speak to that time but there were no crowds plenty of space. The locker rooms were super clean. I'll be back!

While the facilities seem very nice and clean, I have not had a good experience with the workers at all.
When I arrived to check in for a meeting, the front desk receptionist did not know how to check me in or call for my appointment, and when she got help, the woman that I made my appointment with was not even available. She had passed me off to another man, who seemed to be smart and kind, asked me many of the same question multiple times to the point where I got very annoyed.
Since I do like the facility, I wanted to do a one day trial but when I try to reach out to the front desk, or the woman I had an appointment with- no one responds.
Hard to believe they are asking for such a high fee when the workers are not attentive, responsive, or fully socially adapt.
Not looking forward to future experiences.

If there is a zero star option, I’d definitely choose that! I’ve been a member for over 7 years. Even during the pandemic, I didn’t cancel my membership to support them. But recently I had to cancel my membership as I moved and my trainer left this gym. So I told the front desk that I need to cancel. The staff said they would leave a feedback (yes, they said my request was just a FEEDBACK) to the manager. The manager will contact me ASAP (the staff told me it should be the next day). But actually there wasn’t anyone contacting me at all. I called again. The staff said the manager would only work on cancellations when he/her got another 2-3 requests!!! I was like…..
I called them again the next morning as I still haven’t got any update. This time, the staff said we as clients CANNOT choose to cancel the membership. Because there is a LINE. And we need to WAIT IN LINE until the MANAGER contacting us!!! This is the most ridiculous reason that I’ve ever heard in my whole life!!!
I also asked if I can talk to the manager in person. They said, no one is working today!!! Come on, there is no one working once there is cancellation request!!!
I had much precious moments in this gym, and met a lot of good friends. The trainers are top notch in the industry (but most of them left during pandemic). The management used to be very good BEFORE the pandemic. But now, everything just sucks!!! Dirty locker room, bad service, old equipments and HIGHER PRICE.
NERVER EVER go for this gym guys. Doesn’t worth it at all.

SO disappointing. This is not a high-end spa by a long-shot. I belong to gym there and have had massages there before that I would rate it as mediocre but it’s close to my home, so I was willing try again.
I showed up for scheduled, side-lying massage. Inexperienced untrained front desk did not check me in because they “don’t know how to log in to the computer”. Because I was not checked in, the massage therapist did not know I was waiting in waiting room for 15 minutes. I had to go out to the desk and ask what was going on. By then there was a person at the desk who could log on to the computer! She alerted the therapist that I was waiting. Finally in the massage room with the disgruntled therapist and she says she can’t do a side- lying massage… She offers to do a massage with me on my back for 50 min instead( the appointment is booked for 80 min). At that point I decided to just reschedule. THEN the person behind the desk (who is rude)tries to charge me for the appointment. Thankfully the manager who she called, quickly told her not to charge me, so that the only good thing.
This place is terrible. Don’t waste your time or money. DC has other options.

I've had a great time at this location since becoming a member in Spring 2022It is a super expensive membership, as well as the high pricing for personal training, but it was a great investment for me after my knee surgery. I worked with Corey Belin and he is great. It was a rocky start for me as I was kind of looking for that vocal type trainer since many things were still painful for me and I needed a little boost, but Corey pushed me the right amount at the right pace, which really showed his knowledge and intellect. He knows what he is doing and he knows it works!!! I feel great, and have so much less knee pain. As I did more sessions with him, my trust in him grew, and I was really able to push myself. If you want real results, physically and mentally, Corey is your guy!! He is also extremely hilarious and tells some good stories :)

I was able to access this gym for my workouts while staying at the Ritz Cartlon that is adjacent. The area was clean the front desk staff was very kind and polite. Some of the trainers seemed snobbish and unwelcoming. The layout is awkward as the main gym is on the second. I wasn't aware of until ended my workout downstairs.
Pros:
Front desk staff is pleasant
TRX suspension training apparatus are available
Lots of treadmills
High ceilings
Cable systems
Towels available
Pre moistened wipes
Access with stay at Ritz-Carlton (restrictions apply based on your room)
Cons:
Poor layout
Mean looking trainers who don't greet guests

TLDR; Save your time and Money! Equinox uses misleading information to get you to sign the membership.
I went for a tour at Equinox on March 3 with the club manager, Janina. I told her I was in between deciding going Equinox or another group fitness class, like Core Yoga. At the end of my tour, I told her I would have to think about a membership with Equinox after trying out Core Yoga, especially since Equinox’s locks you in a 1 year contract. She INSISTED I sign up to equinox to try it. She said Equinox had a 10 day grace period and if I didn’t like it by the end of the 10 days, I could cancel my membership and get a full refund. I only signed the contract because Janina assured me I had a 10 day grace period. She said to contact her within the 10 days if I wanted to cancel. Fast forward 8 days later, I reach out to Janina to cancel and she is unresponsive. Doesn’t respond to my texts or calls. She was always available right up until I requested to cancel my membership. So I reached out to the concierge services via email on March 12 and they emailed me the next day to let me know they processed my cancellation. I also talked with another clubs manager, Mike, a few days later over the phone to confirm my membership was cancelled, which he confirmed. However, it’s been over two weeks and I haven’t received a refund and my Equinox account is still active (my membership hasn’t been cancelled). I have reached out to Equinox over the phone and email multiple times and I haven’t gotten a response. This is very unprofessional in all levels! I will be filling a complaint at my local Attorney General’s office because I was induced to sign the membership under deceptive circumstances. That’s illegal.
If you are considering visiting Equinox, please don’t. It’s a complete waste of time.

I have been at Equinox since August and attended classes or did my own thing. One day, a trainer came up to me and asked a very interesting question, “are you reaching your goals with what you are doing at the gym?” I was suspicious to start training at first as in the past it was more of a social hour. Corey is different.
Corey Belin has not only helped me transform my body (lost 12 pounds in 11 days) , but also helped me change my mindset on working out. I push myself harder, I know what to do for cardio and strength training and I am excited to get to the gym. At first, he did not compliment easily, but when he does, it makes you proud of the hard work you have been doing. If you want someone to keep you accountable , to push you to reach goals, and to truly bring you to a point of challenge - Corey is the guy for you!

What a joke! I went there to inquire about the club and try it out. I went to the Bethesda location and tried it out a year ago and they were nice and it went well but moved out of state. I just came back and checked this location. I spent time coming here with my workout gear ready to workout. I spent 30 min taking about my “goals” and I ask to try it out. This guy “Mike”, who is obnoxious, said “it’s for members only”. Literally every gym has you try it out first. If I’m spending more than $200 a month, I want to make sure it’s worth it! He then laughed at my face as I was leaving. Do not join here. I ended up joining VIDA where I tried it out and liked it

Whatever you do, do not give this gym your money. If you flushed your money down the toilet or lit your money on fire, I am confident that you would regret it less.
I was a member at this Equinox location for about four months. My experience with the customer service was so bad, that for the sake of my dignity, I was left with simply no choice but to cancel my membership.
Over the course of multiple weeks, I sent email after email to four different managers at this Equinox location, and received NO help. My ask was basic, polite, and contractually protected—I sought simply a one-month freeze to my membership while traveling abroad. I could not reach *anyone* to do so, despite multiple follow-up emails. I finally sent one last email specifically asking that Equinox either (a) provide me with a one-month freeze, or (b) cancel my membership. Yet and still, no reply.
I am actually quite relieved that this experience finally upset me enough to make the decision to take my money elsewhere. Despite being exorbitantly expensive, the gym is dated, their services are underwhelming, and their customer service is outright offensive.

Don't want to beat a dead horse — but yeah, this Equinox is not worth it.
If you live around that area, you're better off just going to Georgetown's Yates gym. It's cleaner, full of equipments, and it has a nice, clean, dry sauna.
Reccs for management:
1) Cleanliness: especially the shower area.
2) Enforce the cleanliness rules in the sauna: people entered the dry sauna with shoes on and fully clothed, very unhygienic
3) The lobby needs a redesign, looks very blunt

Though the gym looks good at first glance, by the time you're a week into your membership you start to realize that it's a pretty terrible gym. It makes sense why they only allow two guest passes, that way new people can't actually get a feel for the gym. I'll go over the pros and cons.
Pros:
Personal training is very accepted and top-tier. However, this is something that I don't personally value.
The gym has squash courts which not every gym has, but this is something that I personally don't value.
The gym has showers, a sauna, and free shaving stuff. Though this is something that I don't value.
The gym has a pool. This is actually cool and I'm upset I never used it.
The gym also has weekly classes which are mainly free. Though they're a bit strict on the schedule and basic which kinda ruins it.
Cons:
Some of the machines are deteriorating and need to be replaced.
It is an EXTREMELY expensive gym. Like it's actually crazy when you think about what you're really paying for.
If you have a friend that wants to come, the gym has no free trials for friends and only offers each member two guest passes.
The gym focuses more on being "unique." This doesn't make it good, it just makes it annoying. Instead of having a proper/diverse amount of machines and benches, they have 4 squash courts. They should not be having this many if the rest of the gym suffers from it.
The lifting parts of the gym are split into two sections that are on literal different floors. So if one machine for your back workout is upstairs and one is downstairs, you have to take a little field trip to continue your workout. This was probably a result of bad design.
Though there is a basketball court, it is often hard to play because there's usually an established game and there are only two hoops. Though the court isn't always extremely crowded so it's not too bad.
There are also a couple of other small things that are annoying.
In conclusion, a lot of what this gym has to offer really isn't necessary in a gym. It has a lot of bells and whistles, but the actual gym itself for lifting isn't pretty awful and not worth the unreasonable amount of money they ask for.

This is the first time I have left a review for anything in my life. I moved out of DC and decided to cancel my membership (after being a member for multiple years), and it has been impossible.
I have called 6 times, and every time someone at the front desk says the manager is too busy to speak but that they will make a note in my account so that a manager gets back to me. So far no one has. If you’re a luxury gym you should be providing luxury service…
Anyways, thought I’d let everyone know that the customer service at this location is horrible.

Overview: Slightly above average gym, inattentive staff and ultra-lux pricing. Poor combo.
Edit: I’ll add more specific feedback.
-The upstairs weight room is consistently overcrowded and 1/4 of the space is consumed by cardio equipment that is seldom used. Please look how your gym is used and re-evaluate the layout.
-There are two flat bench and one incline bench for several hundred people. The dumbbell section has four adjustable benches which is inadequate.
- There is one water fountain for the entire first floor, plus no cups if needed in a pinch.
- The steam room is slimy. Clean it.
- Train your employees to pretend like they aren’t at a prison.
- Keep your pool water clear, its gross looking.
- Things like machine grips are worn or falling apart which should be fixed immediately but goes on for weeks.

Was a long time member since it was Sports Club LA, prior to the name change to Equinox, was the best gym I had ever been to, regardless of price but since the change, I have been so underwhelmed with the gym, and its associates, specifically its management. With this being a luxury gym, the care and over all look of the gym has been in decline as well since the change. I also had an emergency and could not cancel my membership and the manager Mr. Gross was completely rude and presumptuous and spoke with no understanding, which just confirmed the experience that I had already had at the DC location specifically. Now I have visited other locations in CA and did not have the same negative experience that I had at the DC location..... not to mention the membership prices are around $350-400/month, definitely not getting my money's worth!

*Dirty* locker rooms dirty and showers are particularly dirty. Steam room smells bad constantly and feels like it isn’t cleaned. For a “luxury” club, they need to replace the steam rooms at a minimum. Looks like it hasn’t been renovated in 20+ years. Bugs All over.

This is supposed to be DC's premiere gym. This image does not fit the reality. First and foremost, the machinery is constantly broken. Of four rowing machines at this gym, none work. I've contacted the staff probably 5 or 6 times about this issue, and each time they assure me that they will repair the machinery, but it continues to be broken.
The facilities are run down and not well maintained. There is standing water in most of the showers, the drains don't function properly. The bathroom floor is dirty. The paper towel dispensers are always out of paper towels.
When I initially toured the facility, considering membership, I was misled about the facility. I asked how many rowing machines there were, and the answer was "50". In reality, there are four traditional rowing machines, all of which are broken, and four water rowers.
I do not plan to renew my membership at the end of the year.
That said, the classes are great, including cycle beats and tabata. I will miss taking the classes.

Giving this place a one star cause the membership people are very pushy. This is not what I would expect from a gym that charges $230 per month. The guy who gave us a tour today got visibly upset/disappointed when we mentioned that we’d like some time to think about it. He kept pushing and saying that “well you have come all the way here, why stop here?” I really did not appreciate that, I would expect that from a lower tier gym, but not equinox.
This gym looks nice, has nice amenities and a nice pool. However it is an older location, you’re not going to see a fancy/luxury locker room/facilities when you walk in, which to me is a huge part if I’m paying for the experience. The guy kept saying “I can assure you everything is very clean”, shouldn’t that be the bare minimum? And not something you pay $230 for? Lol
Them being pushy left a very bad taste in my mouth, I probably will not return.

I thought I made a good decision exchanging my Vida membership for Equinox— bad decision. This must be the flagship of classless gyms— I had an awful experience with a bullying trainer. The trainer in discussion made a scene that spoke nothing less than “Equinox West End isn’t inclusive.”
I hated it. Today I quit. Everything about this gym is a hassle, from moldy steam chambers to broken equipment in ubiquitous array, poorly kept pools and showers, unfriendly staff, and overpriced bananas.
Equinox failed to support me when I needed them to. I was able to infer, because I didn’t purchase training sessions, that I didn’t matter to Equinox or it’s staff.
All told, this was a disaster. $235 a month for the same equipment you’d find at Washington Sports Club or Gold’s Gym— except those two don’t have expensive padding on the floors or granular finishing on the walls.

As all the other reviews said, horrible customer service. The club itself is fine, but don't try to bring a guest and don't try to cancel the membership because it's impossible and no one responds. I was a member for all of a week and tried to quit because I was told when signing up a guest of mine could come if I gave them that guests info. Gave them my guests info- they never put it in the system and turned them away at the door without even trying to investigate the problem/track down the person who gave my guest the ok. Was also told they hard certain equipment for rent when they didn't. If this was a planet fitness I wouldn't complain, but this is a $200+/month club that markets itself as elite. Nothing is elite about their customer service. Per the customer agreement you get 15 days to cancel and get a refund- tried emailing the manager for my refund, tried calling the concierge and nothing yet. I'd love to know if they actually even answer the emails they get when they respond to these complaints "sorry to hear about your experience! contact us as at..."

But the other 10%?
I actually look forward to working out more when there’s both a sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool, luxury bath products, memory foam floors for stretching, and refrigerators full of Eucalyptus infused face towels.

Scheduled a spa massage for my friend’s birthday at the Ritz Carlton/ Equinox (Foggy Bottom) location. The staff was courteous and the gym was clean. I was disappointed the spa does not offer champagne or snacks for special occasions, instead we were given “swag bags” full of gym advertisements and trinkets. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, arriving early is highly recommended (parking, etc). Must walk outside to enter Equinox since elevator access to spa is for guest only.
My massage therapist was (Donna) friendly, courteous but chatty. I was not interested in talking about where I live, hearing comments about my “poor”elbows🙄 or asking why my shoulders were so tight during my 80 minute massage.
Unfortunately , the massage was not good (technique). Ambiance was fair in the room, there was no soothing music or waterfall fountains, just dim lights, and a cool quiet room. The warm bed with robes was a nice perk. Not a fan of the massage lotion (dry paste) used, she had to continuously spend time stepping away from the massage to reapply.
I’m giving this spa 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️since my girlfriend had a positive experience with her masseuse. In addition, they provided a quiet space and champagne glasses for us to enjoy our BYOB champagne post massage.
Would not recommend, lacks luxury for the price. $500+ ( 2 people)

This business has deceptive business practices that make them a poor choice for anyone who wants to avoid being defrauded. They bait-and-switched me by selling me personal training sessions with a fabulous trainer who I had great results with in the past, then unceremoniously pushing the trainer out, cancelling all my sessions that I had already paid for, and then refusing to refund the money they had taken from me for those sessions ($1500). The managers I have spoken to about this have been rude, others refuse to respond to my calls and emails. Their floor staff is amazing, and a dedicated group of people but their entire management is horrible, and they do not care about their customers or staff. Do not patronize this business; there are so many reputable gyms in the area. Find one that will treat its customers and staff well.

Super dirty. The McDonald's on M Street has cleaner bathrooms.

Facility is super run down. The female bathroom doors are missing locks, there's mildew on almost all the shower doors. The boxing gloves reak, the mats smell... Etc. There are better get me in the area.

Big, clean, spacious. Has pretty much all the equipment one might need to lift, including multiple squat rack/platforms. The staff is super friendly, it usually doesn’t seem to get too insanely packed. You usually can’t say all that about most gyms in a big city

First fitness center i have ever been with a basketball hall inside. If you want a good personal trainer ask on the reception for the Bulgarian guy!
