Mint is a great gym with friendly trainers, and I've been a member for several years at this point. The problem is with management. Their billing policies are nothing short of predatory -- membership fees constantly go up, and you can't cancel without filling out a form and offering 10 days notice, a requirement that is stated but is, of course, only in fine print. I feel like I've been swindled. Really sad when I've been a loyal member for so long.

AWFUL SERVICE. NO DISCLOSURE OF NO DAY PASS. Luckily another gym was only a couple blocks away.

Someone had a medical emergency at this gym. There was no defibrillator, or the only staff person working did not know about it and didn't know CPR either. I'm not sure if that individual made it. Really really awful. It's also 100% a violation of DC code.

I had always considered this gym generally worth the price, but when I was told to come back to the office 5 days/week I could no longer justify the $160/month expense to go once a week.

I took an official Leave of Absence in May 2025 for a three month period. One week before my Leave of Absence ended (August 15) I requested my membership be cancelled. They said "per the contract", I can't cancel while on a Leave of Absence. I have to pay $160 again before I can cancel.

I was previously disappointed to be cancelling my membership, but this predatory and inexplicable practice makes me no longer disappointed to be leaving what I thought was an honest, family-run business.

I like MINT a lot and going before or after work has become a regular part of my routine. However, I do wish that they’d spend money on upgrading some of their equipment—check out the picture of this step stool, for instance! It’s hard to find yoga blocks, exercise balls, steps, etc. for a regular workout.

There is nicer equipment in the rooms w classes, but you can’t use them if there’s a class going on.

Meanwhile, they spent lord knows how much on a facial recognition entry system… I wish they’d invest in their equipment a little more in the main weightlifting area.

The price has gotten to the point that any excuses that could have been made for lack of cleanliness and broken equipment are moot. The men’s sauna doesn’t seal so barely gets to temp, an issue that still persists after a remodel. Best to spend your money elsewhere, cause gods knows you’ll be spending too much of it here.

Mint Gym in Dupont has its pros and cons. Overall the facility is clean, and the trainers like Myke and some of the cycling instructors are fantastic. However, the price of a monthly membership for the weight room is quite exorbitant for what they offer. What really left a bad taste in my mouth, however, was the lack of responsiveness from their sales staff. I had purchased an annual pass the year before which was expiring, and wanted to extend for one more month before I left DC. To keep things brief, the staff never responded to my emails about renewing an extra month and even when the front desk sent them reminder emails for me, they still failed to respond.

I guess there is no benefit for loyalty here

Mint Management: the gym and facilities have become very dirty and potentially unsanitary. I’d advise you do an inspection + deep clean of the gym floors, bathrooms, saunas, shower stalls, equipment etc. Seems like nothing has been deep cleaned for months.

Aside from that, the people and workers at Mint have a nice vibe. It’s a solid, small neighborhood gym.

Tried a few different gyms last year and landed on Mint. Small gym, but has a lot of variety and everything you need to get in any type of workout. Generally isn't ever too packed, rarely have to wait for stuff. Also had to take a three month leave and they were able to put my account on pause. Have never taken any of the classes, so can't speak on that. Definitely worth trying out.

Terrible gym.

Subpar facilities.

They have a predatory cancellation policy. If they reply to this review like they do to all the negative ones, please note that I was aware of the contract stating that you need to provide ten days notice for cancellation. However, one of their employees told me that doing it online was instantaneous. Why would I not believe an employee? After informing their management, they refused to provide a refund for a mistake made by one of their own employees.

They have a veneer of kindness but they are just as bad as any gym but charge exorbitant prices for you to deal with their nonsense. Save your money and go somewhere else, all you’re missing out on are soggy towels and a sauna that’s broken most of the time.

Best gym member experience I've had and I've been a member at a variety of gyms (LA Fitness, 24 hour fitness, Equinox). Love supporting a local fitness studio.

Pros: Clean facilities, modern equipment, friendly staff, eco friendly (no paper towels in the bathroom), eucalyptus spa towels.

Cons: None - wish they had a MINT in California.

Most appreciative of MINT's flexible and easy membership process. Super easy to sign up, pause membership if traveling, and cancel. Only cancelled because I'm leaving the area.

They market on being a friendly and independently owned, but what’s the point of going to the small guy when they have no personal touch and gouge their customers? They shadily make it hard to find how to cancel, and even when they’re fully aware you want to cancel, terms are buried on an intentionally confusing website, you call ahead for instructions and make your cancellation wishes known, they’ll avoid giving you all the details until it’s just barely too late and charge you for a new month you can’t use. Like major gym chains, they have no real commitment or courtesy to their customers. Save money and a headache and just sign up for a better managed chain of gyms. I normally always go with independent businesses, but I didn’t see any perk of doing that with Mint DC, just as unhelpful and money squeezing from customers as everyone else.

I like the gym, and the staff is very welcome and personable. It has more of a neighborhood feel then a corporate gym like wsc. I spoken to two of the three male trainers and they seem like really nice guys. While it's a small gym, they do have enough equipment for me and they have a lot of classes, although I haven't tried the classes. The men's locker room is small and the men's steam room has not worked in the two months I've been a member I like that they have free water, coffee, or tea.

Their hours are good. They did close for a week during the holidays for remodeling without much notice, which was unexpected and made me have to get a trial in another gym. The membership rates are a little high but they do have specials sometimes.

I really like the gym and I think the pros outweigh the cons so I'm going to give it five stars.

overpriced and small. 178 for unlimited classes? like why? also I took a boxing class and it wasnt very clean. The spinning class was decent with high end bikes. It seems they are in between upgrades. Would be a decent gym for less money but that price is for luxury.

★ 1

Terrible experience. It's incredible how a gym that prides itself with being a family-run independent business close to the customers, and part of the neighborhood community, has taken advantage of one of his customer.

Here is what happened. I requested to cancel my gym membership 7 days before the renewal date, as I had an emergency and would not have been able to use the gym on the following month. They told me they had a 10 days cancellation notice, that they would not exercise any flexibility, and that they would press on and charge me for the following month despite the fact that I was not going to be able to use the gym for a single day.

I am extremely disappointed about this charge. When I first joined Mint a few months back, as a long-time Adams Morgan resident, I was really excited to become a member of a community of gym enthusiasts that support a local business. In particular, I trusted the flexibility and friendliness displayed on their advertising emails. You can only imagine my disappointment in seeing that as I faced an emergency, MINT did not display any sort of flexibility and common sense.

My advice -- go to any other gym in the neighborhood and avoid MINT. When you need any flexibility, they will not be there for you.

My partner's wallet was stolen from his LOCKED gym locker at this location (which occured due to MINT's bad practices). Other reviewers below who are not familiar with the situation mention that you can set your own combination and that the locker must have been unlocked, but the locker was locked and the below reviewers don't mention the quality of the locks/lockers are so poor that someone could break into it in a matter of minutes. Following the robbery, MINT has barely apologized and does not respond to his emails about the situation. As an update, 6+ weeks later, the issue still has not been resolved and there has been no communication from management despite multiple attempts to contact them. It's telling that management chooses to respond to positive reviews below, but blatantly ignores this one. Would not recommend this gym.

I love Mint!! I have been so impressed by their ability to pivot during the pandemic and create an environment that truly feels safe for everyone. I cancelled my gym membership before the pandemic at another gym and felt unsafe returning as I have an at-risk person at home, until I found Mint! Cannot say enough good things about the team and the facility. Thank you, Mint team!

Also agree with the 2nd review below 👇 I’ve been during all times of the day and have never had an issue with any of my belongings. There is ample locker space with the ability to choose your own combination so you can secure your items. I’ve never seen or encountered any issues.

MINT has been adapting their virtual and in-person offerings to maximize client experience and safety, from the start of the pandemic. I used to go occasionally to in-person classes at the Dupont location and started going to the Power Playground classes once my virtual fitness routine got stale and the virtual platform, class format (no equipment necessary!), and instructors were so great that I ended up buying a class pack. It's been great to feel challenged again in a workout!

The best gym ever! What I love most are the classes and super friendly staff/instructors. Mint is a community, so expect a pleasant experience.

They hire top notch talent who deliver unique and highly effective instructions. Since the downtown gym closed, the central one in Adams Morgan has become congested, and I hope there can be a solution to that soon. My
solution is to go at other times or use the 14th street location more frequently. I absolutely love the TRX Pilates class. Liz, the instructor, is super cool, knowledgeable and challenging. It’s a terrific workout, especially for recovery days or general core/hip improvements. I’ve noticed it’s positive impact in a short period of time.

Had to downgrade from four to three stars. The gym is nice and has good equipment, but has become absolutely crammed at peak hours since the downtown location closed. Cleanliness is also an issue. Really enjoy Mint Dupont and especially Master Trainer Mary Dorsch!!!! Mary is super knowledgeable, professional and a delightful person to boot. She is a terrific motivator and patient in helping clients to learn how to move and how to use the equipment properly so they are getting the absolute most out of their workouts. I am in my mid-60's and only now figuring out how to exercise. I've had a few good trainers in the last few years, but Mary is tops in my books. Worth giving Mint a try to meet her and see how she can help you really get into shape. Also, importantly Mint Dupont is a friendly place with all kinds of different folks and trainers. Its not an intimidating "scene" like some gyms. Best of all, there are real windows so you can workout and see daylight. Cool minty cloths to wipe the overheated brow are a bonus too!

Best health club in DC! Excellent instructors, wide variety of classes, and kind atmosphere. With three locations, it offers so many opportunities to find the workout or class you enjoy, from classes to free weights, to cardio equipment. It also greatly invests in local community partnerships so that members can get discounts/perks from other local businesses. What I think sets it apart from other gyms is its kind, neighborhood feel, and extreme cleanliness. I have never felt "judged" or "looked down upon" for trying out a new class, or a new weight lifting machine. The founders created MINT as a family business, and that family atmosphere has trickled down to its members and staff team over the years, and remains the main reason why I continue to go to MINT. Absolutely love this health club, and I encourage everyone to give it a try if you are looking for community, encouragement, and motivation to reach your health goals!

If there is a perfect gym, this is it! I’ve been a member for nearly a year. The gym itself is amazingly clean. The equipment is pristine and plentiful. Love this gym and its community feel. They have a great spot up near adams morgan (Dupont location) and a downtown location. They've got clean and up to date equipment. They also have an awesome community feel, with community partners, great customers (who also enjoy the community feel), and uplifting trainers/instructors that motivate and push you farther. Overall fantastic gym.

This is the best gym in DC. There is a wide variety of class times and types, the workout equipment is new, and it rarely feels overly crowded. What's more, the locker rooms are so clean and have everything you could possibly need. There is even free coffee! It's easy to go straight from this gym to the office.

Absolutely love this gym. Welcoming staff, clean equipment and locker rooms, excellent variety of classes, and bright and well-lit atmosphere. What I enjoy the most is the culture there- welcoming environment, there are no "starers" or "macho-steroid drinking lifters" there. All members seem to be very down to earth that just like to exercise. I do not feel intimidated in this gym, even when trying new classes. If am new to a class, I have always been welcomed by the instructors and other members. This gym actually motivates me to workout, and I genuinely enjoy being there.

MINT is so much more than a gym. It's a community. In the three years since I joined, MINT has become a indispensable part of my life in DC. The staff are friendly, the facilities are immaculate, the equipment is well-maintained, and the classes are super fun. The best way to experience the studio is through the classes! Even if you have no experience with spinning, calisthenics, barre, etc., you’ll thank yourself later. After a workout, you can cool down with one of their refrigerated scented towels, or hop in the sauna. For those concerned about price, the cost of membership is lower when you factor in the savings at the abundance of DC community partners. MINT members enjoy discounts on everything from happy hours to dentistry to dog grooming. I would recommend MINT to anyone!

I have been going to this gym for almost 1 year now. They recently renovated it and updated the space which looks great. There are plenty of free weights and cardio machines, as well as lemon water, cold minty towels, sauna, and showers. My favorite part is the group classes. The instructors are amazing- very knowledgeable and encouraging but they will push you. My favorites include Power Playground, TRX boot camp, and outdoor boot camp. These are very intense but they also have plenty of cycling, Pilates, and yoga classes. They are constantly adding new classes and improving. I would highly recommend this gym, especially since the dues are comparable to other area gyms.

MINT Dupont is the best! There are tons and tons of classes, and all the instructors are fantastic. The concierge staff and management are all very nice and helpful, too. The facilities are great; locker rooms include lotion, mouth wash, razors- anything you need! There's also free coffee and mint and lemon water. It's in a great location, near many bars and restaurants- many of which are community partners, which means MINT Members get special benefits. It's also right across the street from a soccer field, which means a lot of the boot camp classes are outside, which is really nice. I would, and do, recommend MINT to anyone.

The MINT experience is awesome, and it truly is an experience! I've been going there for about 6 months now and am totally hooked. Their facilities are really clean and well-maintained, their instructors and other members are super friendly, they have complimentary coffee and locker rooms with everything you need. I really go for the classes, of which there are plenty that range in levels of intensity. Definitely try it if you haven't already; you get way more bang for your buck here than the other gyms and studios in the area and it's everything you could want in a gym.

I have been a member of MINT for almost three months, and it has been such a great decision. It is--by far--the nicest gym I have ever joined. The facilities are extremely clean, and all of the staff members I have ever encountered are extremely helpful and welcoming. No matter what time of the day, it never feels overcrowded. MINT also just completed various renovations to open up floor space without sacrificing many machines. The locker rooms are also extremely clean, and it has a "spa-like" atmosphere. Great place to work out and relax!

Amazing gym with extremely friendly staff. I started with the five day free trial and love being a member. Wide selections of cardio, strength and classes offered. The barre classes are a must try and are fun and challenging. I love the variety available and that the gym is never too crowded. They think of everything from infused water, towel service and toiletries to heart rate monitors. The sauna is amazing and the showers are clean and have great water pressure so it feels more like a spa than a gym.

The classes alone are worth the membership! Incredible instructors, especially the bootcamp and barre teachers. Everyone is SO friendly. I couldn't run due to a stress fracture for 2 months, but was able to maintain my fitness level by attending the Mint classes and working with the instructors to come up with alternative exercises.

Also, the scented cold washcloths provided are a great way to end your workout, especially on hot humid summer days!

I adore this gym. The vibe here is different from other gyms I have been to- for me, this place feels like a community. It is a supportive and friendly space. The Spin and PowerPlayground classes are my favorite. The instructors and trainers are top-notch -- inspiring and motivating. I cannot recommend MINT enough. Give it a try- they run a 5-day Free Pass so you can experience the facility and all of the classes yourself. That's how I got hooked :)

I love being a member of MINT! Everything is great. My one and only critic in the year and a half that I have been there is the air conditioner could be blasting a little more in the summer :)

I've been working out at MINT for many years and it is by far one of the best gym experiences this city has to offer. From day one, I was welcomed into the spacious and comfortable environment. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and always helpful. The instructors and trainers are top notch and there are plenty of great class options.

I work out at Mint Dupont almost every Saturday morning. There's a great energy in the gym and there are usually lots of familiar faces -- but the gym is never crowded like some other places. There are lots of classes, including circuit training, core workouts and spin. I also heard that they're building a dedicated Barre studio, coming this August. There's always something fun and exciting to do at Mint!

I really enjoy the environment at the DuPont location. The staff is super friendly and the lay-out is open, which is amplified by all the natural light. It's nice because you have space to do partner exercises without crowding anyone on machines.

The class schedule is ideal, both in terms of variety and time. They've recently started adding more of the bootcamp style classes which has been a great addition!

Also, they have a dry sauna. Heck yes!

It's hard to come by a gym in DC that has great equipment for personal workouts as well as a huge variety of classes at this price. It's never too crowded and the equipment always works well and is clean. I'm a huge fan of the classes (ride, barre, and their original Power Playground specifically), and the instructors are all super helpful. All in all, definitely worth trying out, especially since you can get a free five day trial!

One of the best gyms in DC with 2 locations you can take advantage of.

Mint has a great choice of classes to choose from: spin, their signature power playground (type of bootcamp), trx, yoga, pilates and more.
top notch trainers
excellent choice of equipment, that although gets quite busy during peak hours, I've never had to wait to use anything!

Other amenities include:
Lockers with built in locks
nice showers and changing room, including towels
coffee
and discounts from amazing community partners

Great gym, bright, airy, variety of classes (and instructors), and it's never too crowded. Pretty much everything you would need. The only thing I can't comment on is the spa. No clue

MINT is exactly what I was looking for in a gym. MINT has it all. There is plenty of opportunity for high-energy intense workouts, but there are also peaceful spaces for when I'm more in the mood to slow down my busy work day with a relaxing session of yoga or meditation. When you're having a hectic day at work, there's nothing more comforting than having an oasis to turn to, and MINT is my oasis!
I love the free coffee and tea, the scented chilled towels, the mint-infused water, even the refreshing mint scented shampoo and soap in the shower really makes going to MINT a special experience.

I love Mint for my general gym needs. The space is bright and airy. Very chill crowd and staff without the pretentiousness associated with a much better known local chain in town. The main issue I've had with them is some poor customer service with my past billing, but it just took a few calls to clear up.
