I love my gym! It’s clean and well-maintained, and many classes are offered at a variety of times. I’ve enjoyed all the classes I’ve attended. So far, the instructors I can recommend are Tracey, Adrianne, and Michael. I look forward to taking more classes because the quality of instruction has been so high! Also love the recovery resources: sauna, LED red light rooms, and hydromassage chairs.

This is a great place to have a membership at. I recommend you pay the extra to have access to the water massage chairs. That alone is worth the whole thing! I found no wait times for anything I needed when working out during the afternoons or mornings. The place is clean and towels are always provided. The staff is exceptionally helpful and always attentive. They have sports drinks and protein shakes you can pay with your card on file which is always convenient.

Please take heed to the reviews on here regarding confusing language around memberships!!! This place is as predatory as they come. You follow the directives on their website regarding how to cancel your membership and yet you continue to still get charged while the Member Services Team, whom you are directed to contact via the website in order to cancel your membership, THEN refers you to the onsite team that gives completely different guidelines and cancellation amounts that does not align with what the Member Services Team tells you…just for the Onsite Team to throw the Member Services Team under the bus by stating that the information that the Member Services Team tells you is incorrect. All the while, you are STILL being charged monthly fees. It is deliberately confusing I believe in order for them to continue to charge you. Ridiculous. My wife and I have already lodged a complaint with the BBB regarding this issue. Believe the BBB complaints and the negative reviews regarding this gym. Save yourself the grief and just go to Planet Fitness or the Y.

Facilities really need improvement. If the air conditioning is functional i really can’t tell because it’s so hot on the third floor. The water machines dispense warm water. The sinks barely work.
Edit - Initially the management said the heat was due to a heatwave. It is now 80 degrees out and the upstairs remains extremely uncomfortable.
Second edit - now the weather is colder and it’s pretty cold inside. I think they do not like to use hvac.

Best gym experience yey, they exceed expectations with upgrades, such as recovery studio and completely renovated and upgraded equipment on third floor, only downside is that the busy times are a bit crowded but still get everything done.

My new favorite gym in DC is One Life fitness Capitol Hill, the staff are friendly knowledgeable and helpful, most importantly the locker rooms are clean. I do want to shout out to Eshe for answering all my questions and being so patient with me.

I am moving from DC or otherwise would have continued my membership. In my nearly 2 years at the club there have been improvements made to aesthetics, equipment, and other offerings. Onelife has a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool that I used frequently; other clubs offer similar amenities...but not for Onelife's price. Overall great experience and would recommend.

I gladly joined OneLife because Eshe did such a through job explaining my membership and fees. I've been around the block a few times, and I'm always on the lookout for dishonest salespeople. Not this time! I definitely get my money's worth! No regrets!

The gym is well laid-out and clean. There’s a great mix of cardio machines, strength-training gear, and free weights, so whether you’re doing HIIT, lifting heavy, or just stretching and recovering, there’s a space for you. The equipment is modern and well maintained, which helps avoid frustrating breakdowns or overcrowded stations. The locker rooms are spacious and tidy, with reliable showers and plenty of amenities.

I was really hoping to come and try out the gym but not having the best experience. I came in the night before between 8-845 PM. Received a tour from Sam and signed up for a free pass just to get a feel first. I let Sam know I would be in the following morning from 6-6:30 AM ET. He said he would leave a note on file for the desk to know.
I come in the next morning and was told by Taylor my “membership was not approved yet” so I’d have to pay the $30 fee that would later be reimbursed. She was informative in saying that I guess the membership team doesn’t come until 9 AM so I could come back then. I’m still confused as I have a text saying I was approved by Sam for the pass. A bit annoyed as I’m already here this early and was not told an additional approval was needed. I may be back but will probably try a few other gyms in the area first. Service means a lot to me.

I really like going here. Classes with Victor will keep you sweating and coming back for more! The amenities are nice and it's not too expensive, it's certainly cheaper then going to classes anywhere else. The only thing I wish they had was water rowing machines instead of the air ones. The ability to go to multiple locations at this price point is really great as well since there are several in DC.

The recent renovation at Onelife Fitness – Capitol Hill completely transformed the space! The updated layout feels more open and modern, the new equipment is top-of-the-line, and everything is spotless. DO NOT sign anything with this place, this is a predatory gym. The link I selected literally said cancel anytime and was worded as if it was a month-to-month membership deal. Once I tried to cancel it said I was locked into a 10 month contract with only a "buy out option" that's close to $300. The contract language is purposefully confusing about the term length.

Someone once told me you can’t control every bug in the world—but how does a bug even end up in the steam room? Today I saw a slimy-looking bug in the steam room that, after some research, I think was a silverfish. Last week, I saw women naked in the Jacuzzi. Honestly, I rarely see anyone cleaning at this gym, and it feels old and creepy. I have a membership at the South Dakota location, but Camphill is closer to my home. I think it’s time to find another gym nearby. I’m done. Onelife on the hill, do better for your customers - please!

This gym is top-notch! Super clean, tons of equipment with plenty of variety, and the entire 3rd floor is dedicated to weightlifting and free weights. With my membership, I also got two personal training sessions and I have to shout out Doug he was fantastic. He really knows his stuff and helped me put together a workout that pushed me in the right direction to achieve my fitness goals. The staff and members are genuinely friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Easily the best gym in Capitol Hill and 100% worth the membership!

Joined in January and absolutely floored by how amazing this place is. The facility is top-notch—packed with everything you could ever need for any fitness vibe. When I started, I was totally intimidated by personal training, but then I met Tiffany Davidson—what a game-changer. She doesn’t just say “3 sets of 10 reps”; she helped me improve movement patterns, taught me to think about how my body actually moves. It quickly became a real partnership—built on patience, perseverance, clear communication, and trust in the process. Seriously, if you’re starting from zero or feeling intimidated, Tiffany makes training approachable and even fun. Five stars all the way!

I can’t say enough great things about S&H! The staff is wonderful & the trainers are committed and professional. I have trained with 2 outstanding trainers - Liz & Raz, my husband trains with Tyler, and my son with Joseph. We have all seen the mental benefits (especially during this past year!) and have had great physical results! We returned to S&H the day they re-opened in June 2020 and felt very comfortable. S&H did a great job keeping staff and clients safe during Covid. Hats off to Chang & Ben & the rest of the crew!

One Life Fitness Capitol Hill is so much more than just a gym—it truly feels like a community. I’ve trained in more than 15 gyms across America, and this one is a real gem for Capitol Hill. I’ve been a member here for almost 2 years and plan to keep coming as long as I’m in DC.
From the moment you walk in, the reception team sets the tone with their warm welcome, especially Taylor, who is always friendly and professional and makes you feel like you belong.
The facility itself is clean, spacious, and well-equipped, but what really stands out is the attention to detail and care from the staff. Pedro, the locker room attendant, goes above and beyond to keep everything spotless. He’s incredibly attentive to all members’ needs and always has a positive attitude. You can tell he takes real pride in his work, and it makes such a difference in the overall experience.
If you’re looking for a gym where you feel valued and part of something positive, One Life Capitol Hill is the place. Highly recommend!

I understand that marijuana has been decriminalized in DC but the fact that there’s a group of guys who come in reeking of pot and management doesn’t say anything is really infuriating. Today I found some flower on one of the stretching mats. To each their own in their private lives but working out under intoxicating substances poses a serious injury risk to other patrons. Would management allow someone to work out who smelled like booze? Fix this. I can’t be the only member who doesn’t want to exercise in a dispensary.

Knowledgeable staff and a great space to use. Readily accessible to all, with some impressive equipment.
My only complaint is that it's a bit small and the studio spaces are constantly being used for classes. Not a bad thing just wish there was more space for studio spaces for single sessions or individual sessions.
Other than that, it's wonderful space and well maintained.

The establishment was great. Excellent staff I was there temporarily because I’m in the military but for the time I was in DC it was great I wish they had a location in Charleston but I digress. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because they tried to continue charging me after I left DC I told them when I joined I was in the military and that I would not be there long but once I proved to them that I was indeed in the military they wiped the debt off but when I signed up I used my military ID but I’m just glad it got handled but if they were in my area I would have definitely kept the membership. The gym itself is 5 stars

Pay a yearly fee for facilities and fairly high monthly but rarely has anything been updated over the years. Amenities are constantly down (whirlpool, sauna, steam room). Can be fairly crowded later into the night and closes relatively early. Lastly have been turning off sauna up to 30-40 minutes before closing ruining plans for those going after the rush.

I absolutely love and adore this gym! Best gym in the area by far. In fact, it is my favorite gym I have ever been to in a lifetime of working out. It is not just that it is in a historical setting, has immense character and has every kind of equipment you could ask for. What makes this gym special is the community. Nearly all of my friends in the area I made at the gym. People are friendly and nice. Folks are always hyping one another up. The staff is also friendly, kind, approachable and fun. Big shoutout to Shaquan, Raz, Sam, Jim, and James. You each put a smile on my face every morning I wake into the gym. You can tell the staff enjoys working there and the clients love working out there. I am lucky enough to live down the street now, but should I ever move, this is the only gym for me in the DMV.
My only recommendation would be to add mirrors in front of ALL the squat racks. I have tried for years to even get mirrors on stands in front of the squat racks and it has been to no avail. Please hear my humble pleas :)

I had a very disappointing experience with Jim, the front desk associate. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional when I asked a few simple questions. Not only did he raise his voice at me, but he also told me he "did not know" and couldn’t help me at all. If you don't know your job or how to handle customer inquiries, perhaps you should consider a role that’s more suitable. It was frustrating to encounter such behavior, especially when I was seeking assistance and when you pay basically $90 a month and the service is not up to part.
That said, I still love this place overall! The amenities are fantastic, and the parking is convenient and spacious. The majority of the staff is friendly and helpful, which makes up for the unpleasant interaction with Jim. Despite this one setback, I would still recommend the place for its overall quality and service

I visited the Onelife-Capitol Hill location on 1/3 using a one day trial. During my check in Samuel discussed the offerings of the gym and the young lady at the desk collected my ID. She stated it would be returned when I left. I was in the gym for about an hour when I was ready to leave I returned to the front desk to collect my ID. The two people present were unable to find my ID. One of them called the guy who checked me in. They told be that he had my ID and would be back shortly. I am unsure why an employee would one have my ID and would leave the premises with it! I waited 12 mins for this individual to return with my ID. This was the most uncomfortable experience and I am sure it is not aligned with the GYM’s protocol for collecting ID for visiting patrons. There was no GYM manager available to discuss this. This behavior was highly unacceptable and I will never return to this GYM.

I have been working out at this gym for many years, though it's different ownership, but my workouts really amped up a few years ago, when I started working out with trainer Raz Dunn (yes, the dude who sings in the gym).
Bit of background: I've always more or less worked out and done sports but things change when you hit 60. I began working out with Raz a couple of years later. I do the small group fitness and when we first started, I really wondered if I was up to it but a month in, my body adjusted. Now about four years later (at 66), the workouts have really helped me continue to do the things I love (and now actually have time for), and deal with injuries I've accumulated over a lifetime. So I can head out for 40 mile bike rides on summer mornings, do a 200 mile walk in the French countryside over two weeks, and actually improve my skiing after 5 decades on the snow. The functional workouts work because they mimic what you do in everyday life (lifting kettlebells, instead of groceries, and walking around), stepping up on boxes with weights (great for mountainous hiking), and endless variations on squats (great for skiing). My core is the strongest it's ever been, which reinforces all the other stuff. And I even think my aerobic capacity improved with the cardio we do. Raz is a lot younger than me so I first thought what he offered might not be so great for an old dog like me. But it worked, and I've seen the improvements. Could I have done this on my own? Intellectually, maybe, but without a "coach" I know it would not have happened. So thanks Raz, you're a real asset over there at OneLife.

I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing One life capitol hill. I walked in just to check out the gym while visiting the area and left with a membership because Sam and the ladies at the desk were kind, friendly and supportive.
They have amazing deals and packages in regards to the personal training, and I am able to utilize the kids club they provide because I have searched and there’s only one other gym that provides that service in DC.
Even though I had not the best experience with the first personal trainer I was paired with, Ben helped me and then paired me with a top notch trainer named Tiffany who definitely delivered. My body is changing for the positive and I’m grateful that she turned my experience into a positive one because I was ready to relocate gyms. I’ve had some
Chronic pain for years that is going away thanks to Tiffany and she gives the perfect amount of motivation because I’m pretty lazy 😅

I've been a member on and off since the Results days. For me, the big draw is the knowledgable, caring instructors. I would highly recommend Drew the massage therapist, Katherine's pilates class, and any class from Elizabeth Brooks. I really appreciate that Katherine and Elizabeth are experienced instructors, and are able to suggest modifications to account for different fitness levels and injuries. I also really appreciate that they both are caring and curious about the class attendees. They really want me to progress, both from a fitness perspective, but also as a person. Clearly I'm not the only devotee, because Katherine and Elizabeth's classes routinely have waiting lists. It's worth setting an alarm to make sure you register in time.

I'm showing my age with this review... I've been a member of this gym since the RESULTS days. (And I know I'm in good company; there are still so many OG faces around!). Before writing this review, I read a few review by others and found them to be unfortunate. Yes, there are rude members who hog equipment and don't clean up after themselves. Yes, there are pieces of equipment that are due for repair or replacement. But I don't view these issues as a reflection on the gym itself. Having been a member for so long, I appreciate the continued upgrades to spaces, equipment, etc. I also recognize that the building is historic and the facility is huge, so it's not likely to get a singular, wholesale glow-up.
What's great about the gym is the variety of spaces and the STAFF! In addition to being a member for 20+ years, I've been a devout attendee of ANYthing taught by Elizabeth Brooks. I've trained personally with her, taken her Chisel and Kickboxing classes (hello 2000's) and even attended her online classes, from my garage, during the Covid gym closure. And still today, you'll find me front and center of every Saturday morning Hard Drive Class. In that class - Elizabeth perfectly balances motivation with attention to form. She consistently offers exercise alternatives, to appeal to diffing abilities. She brings energy and fun each session, and develops new choreography (for the step portion of class) each month, to keep the class fresh and interesting! As if that's not enough, while in the middle of teaching, she also preaches good practices about nutrition and stretching. She genuinely cares about the people who get out of bed to start their days with her. It's obvious I'm a huge fan of Elizabeth Brooks... but it's also obvious I'm not the only one, given that her Hard Drive class carries a waitlist every single Saturday! So sign up early (registration opens at 5am on Fridays) to be sure you score a spot. It's the best way to start the weekend!

Elizabeth Brooks is the most amazing instructor I have ever had in any class. The gym is nice and I have been a member for a while - but the real reason I am here is because of Elizabeth. She teaches Hard Drive and Fusion Stretch and there is no one but no one who can teach like she does. Her creativity, professionalism, and caring is unparalleled. For every class, she comes up with new ways to work you hard - but she is obsessive about form and ensuring that you are safe while you make progress. Every 4-5 weeks, she teaches new choreography in class, which is FUN! No, you don’t get it the first time you do it, but that’s the point! You get to challenge yourself! The only thing is that the classes are so popular, you have to sign up early. I 💕 her classes SO much.

I have been coming to OneLife for a couple of months now and I love it. The staff are so welcoming, the vibes are positive, and I really appreciate how the membership reflects the neighborhood - you will see all kinds of folks at this OneLife, every age and stage. Got a lot out of my initial meeting with the Fitness Director, learned new exercises for my particular concerns (he was a great listener), and used that new info to make a routine. I have been to all flavors of their yoga classes and they're all hits - great instructors. The gym itself is immaculately clean, no smelly mustiness here. I really like that it's in an old school building - helps mellow the vibes, it's not at all an industrial-looking or cookie-cutter space. The building is so large, I've never felt crowded. OneLife is a great fitness center space. With its peculiar bones as a school, you can see the history in the building itself.
I am not a member, but I do use my ClassPass for facility use, and tend to favor this gym over other gyms in the area.
The facilities are impressive compared to other gyms on Capitol Hill, with several floors for a variety of fitness styles. The first floor turf area is spacious with plenty of room for crossfit style training. There are also hip thrust stations,
The middle floors offer plenty of cardio machines, a spin studio, dance studio, several squat racks, and pull up bar areas.
The top floor also has several squat racks and any machine and weight type you can think of - including several cable machines, targeted focus for arms and legs, Smith machines, fully equipped dumbbell racks, preloaded barbells, and leg press and bench press stations.
I was impressed the locker rooms and the squash courts as well. Overall, spacious and updated. Would recommend to locals and tourists alike.
(Did not take many photos, out of respect for other patrons exercising.)

I have been coming to this location for about 2.5 years. It’s 5 stars if you are an old school bodybuilder who doesn’t mind rust, grime, and poor air circulation. Unfortunately, this is a commercial gym that charges rates similar to Vida and Lifetime (“premium” gyms with brand new amenities and equipment). They try to justify the price because they offer a decent range of classes, training, and some diverse equipment, but it’s honestly ridiculous that in the two years I’ve been coming here, there is still very visible mold on the ceiling ventilation, and a lot of disgusting/poorly maintained equipment (you can smell the accumulated sweat on the preacher curl bench). Given the neighborhood, a lot of the clientele are seniors who are easily susceptible to health issues from the poor hygiene and maintenance of this place. I get why they want to invest in bringing this gym up to par with other high end commercial gyms, but you should seriously prioritize safety and hygiene before you even think about upgrading your space. Staph infections, ringworm, and other communicable diseases fester in poorly maintained gyms and it would be really sad if this gym had an outbreak. The staff are wonderful and always helpful, I just think the management/corporate needs to seriously reevaluate their priorities for this gym.

Make sure that you bring a decent lock as the locker rooms are prone to theft. Overall the gym is kinda mid. They doubled my rate to use this place. But the equipment isn't any better than any other onelife in the area. In fact I'd say probably one of the inferior gyms. The hours are also not great.

From the diverse services and equipment available to the FANTASTIC staff that hold this place together, this is a great place to break away from the daily stresses of life and refocus on your personal well being. Throughout the years the gym has undergone many different incarnations... Onelife fitness is the best its ever been! The building was on the verge of collapse, however now it's become a great place to escape (steam, sauna, massage, whirlpool) and workout. Thanks goes to the amazing staff, Ryan, Erica, Ben, Sam, Tiffany, Katherine and SOOOO MANY others. It's a GREAT GYM!!!!

5 Stars for Onelife! We used to go to a smaller gym in Capitol Hill that was dark and always packed. Onelife has made all the difference in my workout routine. There is a bunch of sunlight in every room, tons of equipment and fun workout classes. I had a great experience with Yerik from the beginning, and since then have really loved all of my interactions with the staff. Onelife is my favorite gym in DC thus far.

I have been a member of Onelife for a long time. There are some really nice Onelife gyms. This gym is not it. I’m not even really sure what my membership pays for. Almost all of the equipment in the weight room looks like it came from a garage sale. The setup of the weight room is not conducive to working out during peak hours because it gets so crowded and, because of the setup, everyone is in everyone else’s way. Management loves blasting out emails about cell phone use on the weight room floor, yet nothing is ever done about it and people frequently tie up machines while they sit on their phone, which wouldn’t be as much of an annoyance if they had multiple pieces of the same equipment. It’s not uncommon to see members doing their own circuit, tying up multiple pieces of equipment during peak hours. I actually saw one of their own personal trainers doing this same thing tonight. This gym falls short of other Onelife gyms. Skyline, for example. They upgrade things like the spin floor or front entry way but do nothing to improve the actual equipment. The parking sucks too. On a positive note, the front desk staff is awesome, especially James. Always friendly and upbeat. Nice to walk into a gym and have that friendly greeting.

In the past few months it has been getting really crowded and the people are just not the same. There is never any parking and you have people blasting their music through their cell phone or speakers. It’s just not as enjoyable to come here . They make it really difficult to cancel your membership, so beware.

I love Onelife on Capitol Hill! I have been a member of Onelife in Ballston during COVID for a year and have moved back to DC after getting married -- and like the Capitol Hill location so much better!!!
In fact my hubby and I are both pretty much work out every day here. No frills, nothing fancy, just a good workout. I'm a group fitness junkie so I usually only attend the classes -- and have even successfully gotten my husband hooked on BodyPump. We also LOVE Michael E's Butts and Gutts class (don't let the name fool you -- this is Squid Game level 30-min torture/core work). And Kellie's barre class is up to par with barre3, Pure Barre, and The Bar Method (I've been to all)! I'm a longtime yogi (having also trained in India) and can say Adrianne's yoga class is absolutely amazing (she also teaches at District Flow Yoga). And Katherine's pilates class is as good as it gets on a mat. (I've been to all the fancy pilates reformer boutique places in SF, Soho, and DC.) And Victor's "Forever Strong" (silver) class is my perfect "rest day" workout. In sum, they have a smorgasbord of classes throughout the day which is great for anyone who likes to diversify their workout.
For those who aren't into group fitness classes, there's plenty to do between the three floors, including the racquetball courts. My hubby has no complaints.
Admittedly, it's not the fanciest gym but where can you park for free (at not a garage, but a lot) in DC?! Previously I've been a member of Equinox, Crunch, Balance, Vida, and can say that while the amenities at Onelife don't match up, I have NEVER showered at any of those gyms and don't care for nice shampoos/lotions at my gym. (Shower at home, people! Or bring your own!)
Otherwise, you are looking at paying $3 for parking each time you go to the gym -- not to mention the stress of looking for street parking during peak hours.
Another perk is that we can go to any other OneLife locations throughout the DMV area. My hubby and I drive out to McLean during the weekends so he can swim. (I love their group fitness classes!) It's only 30 minutes away and we hang out afterwards to eat lunch around the Tysons area.
I sincerely appreciate the wonderful team, (including Ryan the manager who's always trying to upgrade the gym, the friendly front office staff who greet you with a warm welcome and know our names, the incredible instructors whose passion for fitness and teaching is palpable). And one of my favorite part of this gym is the sense of community. It's a neighborhood gym -- and you run into the same people in the classes who eventually become your friends!
All in all, OneLife is a great gym if you're going to the gym to work out not merely to be seen!

This review is for personal training services by Jacob David-Fox. I started training with Jacob a few months ago at the Capitol Hill location. He listened intently to my goals and answered all of my questions. He provided me with a training plan that worked directly towards my goals and in each session he offered pointed feedback about improving my technique for safety and long-term results. He is respectful, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable, and I have been extremely impressed with his service. I learn something new in each session, and have become stronger as a result of his program. He is also promptly on time, efficient with our allotted training time, and responds quickly to communications. He also checks in regularly to ensure I am receiving excellent service and am content with the program. I highly recommend his services for those who are interested.

Came here for two days while visiting DC. Gym was walking distance from our hotel in the Navy Yard area (The Thompson), day pass was $30 each day. The gym seems to be in a converted school and it has 3 levels. Weight room is at the top level with most of the cardio machines in the 2nd floor hallway, group exercise rooms are also on the 2nd floor. First floor has some pinned weight machines and a large functional fitness area with kettle bells, battle ropes etc. Everything was well organized and maintained.

When I was living in Washington, D.C. Sport and Health was a great place to train. I thought the gym had a lot to offer in regards to workout equipment and spaces to workout. There are three levels that each offer something different.
Specifically I want to acknowledge Razonte Dunn (Raz) who was great to work with. I've been playing professional football for 8 years and am particular in who I want to train with. After my orientation with Raz for explosive performance training I knew he was a great fit and the best I could find in the D.C area. He is really thorough in helping you set personal goals and creating a program around them.
In the year working with Raz I made significant improvements in mobility, quickness, and explosiveness which we set out to do. If you're an athlete a lot of the drills and exercises Raz takes you through are transferable to the field or court. If you're just looking to get stronger, faster, and in better shape Raz will help you get there. The best thing about working with Raz is the positive energy he brings every day and that he truly cares about his clients.

This review is specific to Razonte and his semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class.
I have been taking Raz's EP class once a week for about 4 months and can see a real difference in my strength, how I talk to my body and my confidence in using free weights and the weight room. In total, I have lost about 20 pounds, and Raz's class and his wealth of knowledge absolutely was the catalyst. I have been a life-long fitness class attendee, and when Covid hit, I felt far more lost than I expect as I tried to come up with a consistent workout plan. As gyms in the area open back up I knew I needed to learn the basics of a weight room from a professional. Enter Raz.
I couldn't afford personal training, but I could afford EP. I met with Raz and we talk about my goals, and after reviewing the body scan metrics, talked about realistic expectations and set a plan. Sure, the body scan said I needed to lose about 40lbs, but Raz said to me, "Realistically, where can you make small changes in your life that you can maintain to start to move towards whatever goal you have first? That is where we start". I still felt the fun, competitive aspect of group fitness, but I learned the correct form and how much weight I could really throw around, and saw a bunch of non-scale victories that I am very proud of.
I think Raz's personality has a lot to do with my success. Each person in the class gets told what weight they should grab for each new movement and each person is getting personally coached or cheered on. You don't feel that lapse of attention, no matter how many people are in the class. There are times when he will push you because he knows you can do more, but never in a way where you feel like you are being yelled at or being called out. He listens to you, offers alternative movements before you have to remind him of your injuries, and all the while picking up on how you like to be motivated. From there he leans in to create a safe space for you to work hard (and it is hard) and push yourself to hit your goals.

I've been a member of Capitol Hill Sport & Health for over a year now along with the semi-private Explosive Performance (EP) Class.
My trainer Razonte has been phenomenal in getting me back in shape and building more muscle than I've ever had before. At first, I struggled to finish the hour training sessions that I did once a week. But he encouraged me to keep at it and suggested several workouts that I could do on my own on the days I didn't have a EP class. Now, I am able to work throughout an entire session and have increased my classes from one a week to two.
If you put in the work and time with Raz, you will notice a difference in your energy level, your strength and overall health. Every few months, we do a check-in to see how much progress we made and I personally have seen my body-fat percentage decrease and my muscle-mass increase over time.
While Raz will push you to work hard, he is cognizant of peoples' limits and abilities, prioritizing one's health. He's also a funny and great guy, who gives out constant encouragement and will hold you accountable.
In my opinion, the price for the semi-private classes is worth it. You get to workout with a small group of people and you will definitely notice results if you put the time and work in.
The gym itself is clean and has all the equipment you will need. The staff is friendly and encouraging to everyone who comes. Highly recommend being a member and taking Raz's sessions.

This review is in regards to the Explosive Performance program. I have been working with Razonte for years now and the results not just physically but mentally has been fantastic and why I have stuck with it so long. I am one who does best with workouts when I am told what to do and have someone watching, but a personal trainer is out of budget. EP class gives me that need in training but is within my budget.
Raz is the best and the main reason I have continued taking the class and still a member at the gym despite moving further away. He is beyond knowledgeable in workout and nutrition and then encourages along the way. Over the past few years he has helped me get stronger and in better shape since I was in my 20s. I have accomplished things I never thought I could...an unassisted pull-up!! I was struggling to lose weight and now have lost close to 40lbs over last few years and have kept it off! If I ever have an injury or concern he helps modify exercises. Even on non-class days if I see him he is pushing me and giving me ideas of what I should be working on. I see him do that with everyone at gym, even members who aren't clients. There are days I have come to class mentally struggling and by the end I feel recharged and in much better mood. I can't thank Raz enough for all he's done for me!
The EP program as a whole is great under Raz's leadership. I've worked with Tyler and Drew and they are excellent trainers! The other members in the class are always great and we help each other get thru these challenging classes! Can't recommend these classes enough!

I highly recommend training with Raz and strongly believe he is the best personal trainer in the DC Metro area. I’ve been training with Raz for almost two years and he has taken me from being in-pain and out-of-shape to being pain-free and extremely fit. His coaching goes well beyond the training sessions: he provides nutrition advice, motivation, and workouts for when you’re not training with him. If you want to achieve your fitness goals, you must hire Raz.

I do not recommend this gym, they have terribly dishonest billing practices. It borders on a scam. I requested cancellation of my account during COVID, and was told on the phone that "as a courtesy" they would instead freeze my account until I was ready to start coming back. 3 months later, they started billing me again. Shame on me, I only noticed this 4-5 months later.
When I contacted them, they said "you are not eligible for a refund without proof of a previous written request to extend the freeze on your account." Despite the fact I was never told I would need to request an extension. I was never told I needed an extension, I was told to contact them when I wanted to come back.
Reading through other reviews, it appears this is a common problem.

Great deal for a DC gym. Having gone to four other gyms in the city, this is my favorite. You don't get all the perks of some of the more boujee places in the city, but at such a better price it is definitely worth it.
The facilities are very clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Team members like Jim will greet you each day by name. Very spacious and open, which is great during covid. A good manager is one who solves conflict and is able to step out of the shoes of the business and into the customer's perspective. Kudos to Chang.

Love this gym, great community vibe. A few things they need to do to improve: 1) the steam room is never hot, its more of a warm room suitable for growing and spreading germs. Makes the steam room a tragic waste of space and potential. The Sport and Health in Bethesda has the option for users to increase the steam - so much better. 2) the facilities suffer from a lack of attention to detail. There is peeling paint, dirty corners that have never been cleaned, and a lot of little things that would be cleaned if a little bit of extra care was injected into the process.

This gym is mostly good, but the patrons are lazy and don’t clean behind themselves. When I emailed to cancel my membership it took about 5 days for them to get back to me. By then my account had already been charged for the upcoming month. I’m extremely disappointed because the charge is more than the cancellation fee and I still have to pay the cancellation fee.

Just signed up a few months ago and I’m hooked. Chang, Anthony and membership have helped the transition into the new gym and area pleasant and easy. 10 out of 5.

They have very limited number of workout classes.
There are water filters that do not work on the first two floors. When exercising you end up drinking unfiltered capital-hill water.
This had been going on for a few months and the management team ignores any comments on this an refuses to fix the filters.

This gym will not stop harassing me with emails! I have called and emailed at least a dozen times, asking them to take my email off their system, to no avail. Somebody at this gym is using my email address to book personal training sessions and set up accounts. I have continued to ask them to correct this issue. I am filing a complaint with the FTC because this has continued for the past 6 months, and nobody at this gym is correcting this issue.

Recently switched from Vida, and really loving this as my local gainz factory. Glad to have this gym in my neighborhood.

It's 80 degrees in the weight room, with a heat index in the mid 80s. It's been like this for days, and management says the temperature is this way intentionally. One staffer alluded to the cost of increased air conditioning.

Their prices are outrages, I mean through the roof for their facility . The place is OK, it’s clean and has a bunch of stuff, but I mean come on, they charge you rates like they think they’re Equinox’s little brother or something. No way, I’ll take my business to Golds-gym that charges a fraction of what they charge and the difference in cost more than adequately makes up for the few extra things you get.
