I belonged to OTF Tenleytown 6 years ago before joining OTF Cleveland Park. I did not love the community at Tenelytown- very snobby vibe and not welcoming. I paid $240 a month to attend this gym and it was not worth it. I am giving 1 star because I have called, emailed, texted countlessly to be removed from your promotional list. I still receive mail, texts, and emails to join their gym. Respectfully, STOP with contacting old members. I belong to a NOVA OTF location which is far better superior than my experience in DC. OTF is a great workout, but you all look desperate for members. OTF corporate and this location needs to forget my phone number, email, and name.

Joined a few months ago and I actually look forward to going to the gym?? What?? The music is fun, and it doesn’t even feel like a group class most of the time (in a good way - I’m competing against myself and not self conscious). A lot of people think OTF is intimidating but I would recommend trying it to see if it works for you.

If you join this gym, be prepared to continue receiving marketing messages from them for the rest of your life. I was a founding member of this studio way back in ~2016/17. Nearly 10 years later, I haven't succeeded in getting them to stop contacting me every month trying to get me to re-join. I moved away from DC four years ago--and am actually still an OTF member at my local studio. I have asked to be removed from their mailing list at least 10 times, but the emails and texts continue coming anyway.

There are not many places where the staff not only greets you by name but with a warm and welcoming smile - even at 4:45am! All the front staff is wonderful and you know they love their job by they way they conduct themselves. Their goal is to make your experience a great one each and every time - and they do! Every coach is personable ,engaging and encouraging - especially Coach Jon! He plays great music, is super enthusiastic, encouraging and fun! He clearly loves being a coach and he brings his A game to every class!

The bathrooms and showers are always clean - the studio is immaculate. It is a positive community of members all happy to be there working out together. Through my travels I have visited many different Orangetheory studios across the country and I have to say Orangetheory Tenleytown is the very best! I have only positive things to say about OT Tenleytown!

The best place for a quick 60 minute full-body workout! Tenleytown has the most supportive community and it's clear the coaches care about helping everyone on their fitness goals. Took Coach Janiah's class last night and she played the best music and was so motivating!

The new coaching staff is phenomenal! They are motivating, and bring such fresh energy to every class. Whether you’re a first-timer or a longtime OTF member, they make sure you feel seen, supported, and challenged in all the right ways.

Five Stars for Coach Ashley!

Coach Ashley is truly one of the best new coaches I’ve had at Orangetheory, HANDS DOWN!!. This girl brings an incredible mix of energy, form and technique and encouragement that makes every class not just effective but really enjoyable. Her class is highly recommended! Glad to have her at Tenleytown and Cleveland Park!!

Update - still 5/5!

I joined Orange Theory about a year ago and I am totally hooked! The workouts are a great mix of cardio and weights. I get a way better workout in an hour than I ever do on my own in the gym in twice the time. At the Tenleytown studio - my favorite - the staff and coaches are all really welcoming and supportive, and the vibe is great. But if you're traveling, any Orange Theory studio has the same set-up and they're all good.

Orange Theory does a great job of turning the workout into a game, which helps it from getting boring. You have your own heart rate monitor, which I use to keep myself honest - I don't have to guess how hard I'm working out (or not!) because the monitor tells me. You are only "competing" against yourself - tracking your own times and workouts - but in a community of supportive people doing the same thing.

We have a bunch of friends who have joined, and everybody who does gets hooked. There are people who have never taken classes and don't work out much, to people who are really hard-core. Orange Theory works for all types - and the Tenleytown studio's vibes make it easy for anybody to fit in. Try it!

This OTF is amazing!

I have been going to OTF now for 5 years and I just started working out at this one a week ago and let me tell you my experience was one of a kind!
First of all the employees here are super supportive and helpful and are quick to help if you are struggling.
Next is the building. It’s super clean well maintained so if your looking for a good gym look no further.

I love this studio and I’m so excited to continue my workout experience here.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My First Class Was Amazing!

I just took my first class at Orangetheory Tenleytown and I couldn’t be more impressed! The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment I walked in. They made sure I understood how everything worked, set me up with the heart rate monitor, and checked in with me throughout the workout to make sure I was feeling good.

The coach was super motivating and explained all the exercises clearly, which made it easy to follow along even though it was my first time. What really stood out, though, was the community—everyone was so friendly and encouraging. I didn’t feel out of place at all, and it really felt like a team atmosphere.

Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend this location if you’re new or just looking for a great place to work out with good vibes and great people.

I've been coming since summer of 2021 and love this studio. The coaches are great (especially Jon!), they offer classes at convenient times all day and I always see a friend or two. Towels are provided - unlike a lot of other studios in other parts of the country.

Where else can you get a great workout led by motivating coaches and also get to know your neighbors? In one hour, I get cardio and strength training and I don't even have to think about it. The time flies by. I am stronger and more confident than when I started. This studio has a friendly staff and a great vibe, especially in the mornings. I'm a huge fan.

Thank you to the amazing team at OT Tenleytown! Since I joined, I’ve received nothing but good vibes and great advice from the team members and coaches.
The other participants are incredible too—you feel like you’re part of a team workout. At the end of each session, I love how everyone celebrates together, knowing we’ve accomplished it one more time!

The facilities are excellent. If you decide to go early for a run or need to head straight to work after class, there’s a shower and all the essentials, like hair dryers, dry shampoo, and more.

If you live near the Tenleytown studio, I highly recommend joining us and becoming part of the OT community! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Oh, one more thing: all the coaches are amazing, but Mia, Julie and John are extra amazing! And also Jenna and Sean as a team staff are amazing too! 😊🥰🤗

Joining Orange Theory has been a game-changer in my fitness journey, and a big part of that is due to the incredible coaches like Julie, Jonathan and Aitana. The coaches are truly talented at keeping the classes dynamic and high-energy. The programs strike a great blend of variety and challenge. That formula, and the great workout mix, keeps me motivated and excited to come back for more. Before I started at Orange Theory, I never would have considered myself a runner. But I've been genuinely surprised at how much my endurance and speed have improved since I started. It's a real testament to the effectiveness of their training program. One of the things I really appreciate about Orange Theory is the inclusive atmosphere. When I look around the class, I see people of all ages and fitness levels pushing themselves and achieving their goals. It's truly inspiring to see. I can't recommend Orange Theory Tenleytown enough. If you're looking to improve your fitness, regardless of where you're starting from, this is the place for you. The combination of expert coaching, challenging workouts, and a supportive environment makes it a truly exceptional fitness experience. I am so very glad I found OT Tenleytown.

I get bored easily and I am deadline driven - so, OT Tenleytown is a perfect fit for me! I started OT this year and simply cannot get enough of the workouts, staff, and community. The front desk team sets the tone and energy for OTTT. They are beyond welcoming and are genuinely happy to see each member, and guest. Hanna is the Sheriff, and Jenna one of the Deputies. Seemed natural to nickname them “Hanna Montana”. Not that they objected, but they did retaliate and nicknamed me “BurninVernon” - at the time I wondered why my name was not coming up on the Board! When I saw it - it put a huge smile on my face! This is the kind of friendship and comradery you experience at OT Tenleytown.

I always see an old friend, or a new one, during my workouts, and there are classes all day long, so no excuses that there aren’t convenient times to come workout.

Hanna rocks - so come join Orange Theory- Tenleytown in NW DC - it will enhance your life!!

OTF Tenleytown has been a staple in my life since 2018. No matter how my personal life is going and no matter the state of affairs of our country or world — I can count on OTF being regular and routine- the best one hour of my day. When my time is severely limited, OTF is the best way to guarantee a full body workout — mix of cardio, lifting, and core. OTF is also my only social outlet — where I see longtime friends in the neighborhood but also a place where I’ve made new friends. Together we cheer each other on! Finally OTF has become a place of mother-daughter bonding — where I first brought my teen daughter. She later invited her friends to join. Since moving away for college, she has continued OTF near her campus. Thank you OTF Tenleytown!

I have been a member of Orange theory for about five years. This location is well maintained with updated treadmill, rowers and weight equipment. I especially enjoy the cleanliness of the showers and restroom areas. The heart monitor is another great addition to the gym, it gives me a clear idea on if I should increase or decrease my exercise intensity. The app is also very good. It makes keeping track of stats and workouts easy, and syncs my the Apple Watch. The staff and studio manager here are all friendly, informative, and helpful. Every staff member at the Tenleytown Orange Theory are excellent but Arbyana stands out to me the most. Her attention to the customers and vibrant energy really makes the difference between this and any other Orange Theory. Her positivity is definitely a reason why myself and probably many other members keep coming back to this location to workout and feel good about our exercise progress. I attend most classes with Coach Julie. She is a former Olympian, great motivator, and wonderful at showing examples of the workouts. I like attending Coach Aitana’s classes as well. She is a great motivator and cares about members doing the workout correctly. She puts in extra effort during themed workout classes and her costumes make the class fun and enjoyable. The new coaches Oscar, Jonathan, and Mia were great additions to the gym this year too. They followed Julie and Aitana’s workout methods in making the members of the gym feel like they’re not left out of the workout. The workout community at this location are also very inviting and open. I can see myself continuing to enjoy coming to this gym for years to come. I enjoy coming to this location so much, I barely notice the passing of time during each session.

OTF Tenleytown is one of my happiest of happy places! Here I am with Hannah, Studio Manager Extraordinaire, who brightens my day every morning with her smile and words of encouragement. If you are sick of hearing how a consistent exercise routine is the absolute most important thing you can do to extend your life and health spans, or reduce anxiety, or boost your immunity, or help you sleep, or (fill in the blank with anything positive you want in your life), then you've gotta come and try an Orangetheory workout!! Next thing you know you'll be one of those people who can't imagine going more than two days in a row without exercising because it's so much fun and you're hooked on how it makes you feel.

One of the biggest things that sets Orangetheory apart from almost any other kind of exercise is the OTBeat Burn armband that you wear during class. It's what shows you how your body is responding to the workout on any given day, and helps you track your improvements over time. When I first started coming to class, getting splat points (time in the "Orange" zone) was very easy. As I got in better shape, it became harder and harder to get them because my OTBeat Burn automatically adjusts to my current fitness level, keeping things challenging and interesting. It's also fun to see how quickly I can go from the Orange or Red zones down to the Green or Blue zones by deliberately slowing down my breath. I never knew that was something I could control until the amazing instructors of OTF Tenleytown pointed it out to me.

I would say RUN, don't walk, to OTF Tenleytown, but that would be hypocritical since I have not run in over 10 years (which is my segue to say you can get just as good of a workout power walking so don't let fear of the treadmill get in your way!).

See you there!

Coach Jon is an amazing OT Tenleytown coach. He makes the classes fun with his humor and wide array of music - which can range from rock and roll, pop, R&B, a random show tune to name a few - which keeps you going - and earning those precious splat points. He will adjust the music based on the workout and community. The environment is up beat and he provides positive reinforcement to encourage you to do your best. I was also lucky to grab two of my favorite Orangetheory Tenleytown coaches and snap a picture. Coach Aitana and Coach Oscar are such energetic, motivating and helpful coaches with whom I have worked with for some time. I would have snagged Coach Julie for the photo if she was in the studio. She is the Tenleytown OG coach and one of my favorites who has motivated me to stick with my 4 to 5 class a week schedule for 4 years now. The selection of coaches is what makes working out at the OT in Tenleytown great. Each coach puts their own touches on the class to ensure success. They are your biggest cheerleaders and make sure you are challenging yourself and have proper form so you don't get injured. Working out can be tough - but OT Tenleytown coaches and community make it fun and get me to workout a lot even when I don't feel like it. I would highly recommended giving it a chance. You will be hooked immediately. Hannah and the front desk staff are amazing as well. I had a knee injury and they make sure I get access to the strider and bike instead of a treadmill which I greatly appreciate.Try it out!

I was a member for several months back in 2018 when this Orange Theory first opened. I rejoined this year because I need to commit to cardio and I need someone to hold me accountable while doing the exercise! Know thyself and what you need!

I appreciate the body positivity, enthusiasm and acceptance of the environment. I kind of wish OTF celebrated more than the fastest/best on the challenges, but that's not on this studio. Oh, and I have found only one set of 5lb weights... It starts at 8lbs at the individual areas. If you are a beginner or have an injury you still need to be mindful of your capabilities.

It's not cheap. I recommend getting your fitness tracker off ebay or Facebook marketplace for less. You can commit to a six month contract for less than month to month.

IMHO the sound system is too loud (much improved from 2018) and one should ask the desk for earplugs or bring your own.

UPDATE 7/9/2024:
I have now upped my membership to unlimited. I love this community a bunch! I appreciate the efforts that the instructors put into playlists of music and feedback on technique. I'm no longer fussed about the 5lb weights. I've gotten braver about asking fellow OTF people if I can borrow what they aren't using.

UPDATE 11/11/24: Now OTF has become a family activity. Really enjoying having my son join. We have a good time sharing and discussing the HRM (heart rate monitor) data outside of class. I uploaded my green (zone) day pic of the ups and downs of today's workout! The coaches explain how the variation between resting rate-push rate-and all out helps to develop a stronger heart! I'm proud to see all those ups and downs and doing the hard work with all the OTF members.

I’ve been a member of OTF Tenleytown for a little over two years, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best fitness experiences I’ve had. The staff is fantastic—always welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping you achieve your fitness goals. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete, they take the time to tailor advice and support to suit your needs.

The workouts are top-notch. Each session is well-structured, challenging, and varied, keeping me engaged and motivated every time. I particularly love the use of heart rate monitors during the workouts. These monitors are incredibly useful for tracking my performance in real-time, helping me understand how hard I'm working and ensuring I'm hitting the right intensity for my goals. They provide valuable data, allowing me to adjust my effort, monitor progress, and stay on track with my fitness journey.

The gym itself is always clean, with great equipment and a positive atmosphere that makes working out something to look forward to. Whether I'm there to get the most splats possible or have restful green day, I always leave feeling accomplished and energized. Overall, I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a supportive environment with quality workouts and excellent tools to track progress.

Orange Theory Tenleytown is a fantastic studio with an inviting and energetic atmosphere that keeps you motivated from the moment you walk in. Orangetheory Tenleytown is the premier OTF in the DC area (and I know, because I go to a few others too). The space is nice -- many local gyms are in dark basements and there's a little natural light in this one. The vibe is good: It's an all-ages gym (local college students to retirees) and the fitness level is high. This is where a lot of Type A DCers come to sweat, and that translates into there being no slackers. Still, it's a non-judgmental vibe. Best part is the excellent trainers. My faves are Aitana (upbeat and motivating); Jonathan (quite funny, and his music choices are unexpected but hit the spot); and Julie, a badass Olympic gymnast who dispenses genius motivational messages when you're in the final stretches of your intense workout. Yes, if you to go to OTF Tenleytown you can train with an Olympic athlete!

I had a membership here but moved so no longer close to any OT’s. I called back in Feb to cancel my membership and was told I was good to go, but would have to pay thru March. Totally fine. But the employee I spoke with didn’t send me the proper paperwork to cancel unbeknownst to me. April I get billed, call the studio, and was told they would talk to the studio manager and get it refunded. The next day I get an email from the studio manager saying I still have to pay April, but they will waive May because of my move. I call multiple times to speak to the manager directly and get the run around…she’s not here, we will have her call you, call back, she’s on a call, email the studio. This studio seemed friendly and helpful until they WERae NOT. I haven’t been in months because I moved and they can see that. I don’t recommend joining this group of OT’s(They own TT, Cleveland Park and Silver Spring) trying to end your contract has been a nightmare and is still not resolved. So beware of their shady business practices!!!

I came in for class at Tenleytown after a while of going to another studio and I was overwhelmed with kindness by the front desk staff and the coach. Jenna and Natalie were so helpful and really made me feel welcome. Coach Genna’s energy was 10/10 and she played such a great variety of music! Dare I say this is the best studio I’ve ever been to… amazing work Tenleytown!!!

I have been a member of OTF since 2019 and love it! It’s always fun to visit different studios while traveling. However, there is nothing better than my home studio, OTF Tenleytown! I love being greeted with friendly smiles. The front desk staff is accommodating. Hannah, our manager, keeps our studio running efficiently and is very informative about the latest and greatest happenings at our studio. Our coaches are the best! Head coach Julie is exceptional. Her high energy and inspirational words encourage me to get out of my comfort zone and achieve my goals. After all this time, I still walk out of a class exhausted but totally motivated for more!

There are so many things I like about OTF.
- Each day is different, so I don’t get bored, and my body is always challenged;
- The format stays consistent, so I am not confused, even though I haven’t had my coffee yet;
- It is a supportive, not competitive community; I am only competing with myself to continue improving;
- Although I learned about heart rate zones in high school gym class many decades ago, OTF has helped me recognize what the zones feel like, which has helped me outside of the studio, biking and hiking;
- Working out at OTF-Tenleytown gave me the stamina and strength to hike 130 km through the Galician mountains and valleys of Spain on the Camino de Santiago with a full pack, and actually enjoy it.

If, in my 20s, 30s or 40s, you had told me that I’d be consistently working out throughout my 50s, I’d have said that surely you have the wrong person. I’ve never even bothered to join a gym before. Why would I? I knew myself well enough to know it would have been a waste of money. Yet somehow I now find myself an OTF Tenleytown disciple and, dare I say, prophet; spreading the word to all I meet about the wonders and powers of transformation that the orange lights possess.

I’ve been a member of OTF on and off since 2017-2018, visiting studios in different states. OTF Tenleytown stands out as the best by far, largely thanks to the incredible head coach Julie. She’s truly outstanding – always motivating, providing perfect guidance, and helping each of us improve. I’ve never consistently attended OTF 5-6 times a week before, but now I find myself doing that. Jo and Genna are also amazing coaches who contribute greatly to the experience. And of course, Hannah and the entire front desk staff are always welcoming and caring. A huge thank you to everyone at the studio for making this such a great place to work out! I can't recommend OTF Tenleytown enough.

This studio is fantastic. Going there is one of the best parts of my day.

I used to resist going to Orange Theory. My wife and a bunch of friends have been going for a long time, and I would joke about it being a cult with its own exercise philosophy, weird features, and even its own vocabulary. But then I got injured running, couldn’t run outside, and was ready to try a gym. I discovered there’s a reason for everything they do, and I am a total convert. It’s great.

What makes this studio so good is the people. Hannah and the rest of the front desk staff are fantastic, and somehow this gym manages to always hire the best staff and coaches. I know mostly the coaches who coach weekday morning classes, Genna, Aitana, Julie, and Jo, and they are all amazing, with a mix of fun and encouragement.

I love Orangetheory Tenleytown! I’ve been going a little over a year now. I barely worked out in my adult life, but knew I needed to integrate something into my routine. I now can’t go more than 2 days without OTF I love it so much. I’m a working mom of 3 young kids, so this gives me the most effective workout in an hour, and they always have sessions at convenient times (I’m a consistent 6am-er and was never a morning person). The coaches at Tenleytown are incredible - motivating, approachable, supportive. They get to know you over time and pay attention to your progress (shout out to their newest coach - Aitana!). I highly recommend!

And the front desk staff—Hannah runs this place like a rockstar, and Brad, Jewel, and the rest of the team are awesome too. It feels welcoming and very well-run. I joined Orangetheory Tenleytown about 2.5 years ago and I cannot say enough good things about it. The workouts are intense but very much worth it, my body and mind feel so much better after a class. The coaches (Julie, Jo, Genna, Anna, and the rest) take the time to suggest personal adjustments during class and keep you motivated; the music is great too. I also love that they have different themes and challenges along the year, participating gives you a sense of accomplishment and it is so much fun.

The front desk is staff is extremely friendly and make an effort to get to know all the members, you enter the studio happy, and you leave happier.

Also, important to mention that members are of all ages, genders, fitness levels, etc. The vibe is a team working out together and not competing with each other like in other places.

Try it, you will love it.

I started at OT last September because I was looking for something challenging to get me back in shape (I'm 55) after the pandemic, and also to do during the winter months to avoid the winter blues. I am also prepping for a major week of strenuous hiking in Switzerland this summer. I used to run in HS (40 years ago) and rowed on varsity in college (35 years ago). I get competitive with myself and kinda love that feeling. I started at twice per week the first couple of months then went to 3 times per week. I can see the progress both in how my clothes fit and my speed on the tread, endurance on the rower and substantial improvements on my weakest -- the weight floor. I did the dri-tri last month and the atmosphere was so supportive and playful. The coaches at Tenleytown are awesome -- Julie, head coach is fantastic, great technique and motivator, also Anna, Travis, Joanna, and Genna are superb with their own styles. I have gotten my best friend and husband to join (finally) after all my raving, they have and love it too.

Orangetheory Tenlytown - Buyer Beware

I decided this was the year to re-engage in a gym practice and I had heard that OTF Tenleytown was a great place. I went in for an intro class and I liked the facility, but the coach was not great (she was new). After that first session, I was asked if I wanted to sign up. I had met Julie (one of the head coaches) during that intro class and I told her that I couldn’t commit after just one class and especially one that was a bit lackluster. I asked if I could take one more class because I am committed to my fitness, but as a solo mom, I needed to be sure that the club could fit in my busy schedule. Julie said she would charge me the $30 drop-in rate, but that would be refunded if I signed up. She also said that they had a “Love it or your money back” (LIYMB) guarantee, so I could always cancel if I wasn’t happy in the first 30 days. I was really excited about this opportunity to try it and get a feel for the gym, so I signed up! I was enjoying trying out the place…I especially liked the classes with Travis who is an expert coach…he had a handle on the entire class, while also providing specialized attention where needed. And the front office staff created a friendly environment when you walk in and when you leave (they call you by your name!).

However, after taking 6 sessions, I emailed the studio to say I wasn’t finding it to be a good fit. The classes that suit my kids/work schedule are often booked up and there is limited street parking available, so I was struggling to make it all work for me. My first month was supposed to be up on Feb. 11th. I contacted them on February 4th by phone and by email to share my intention to take advantage of the LIYMB guarantee. When I called to speak with Julie, the associate asked my name and asked me to hold. She came back and asked what my call was regarding. At that point, she said that Julie was not available because she was just about to walk out of the studio. I was told to email Julie. I’m not sure why the nature of my call needed to assessed before they could determine if Julie was available to speak with me. It felt like she did not want to talk to me about my intention to cancel. So I sent an email (as the sales associate suggested) indicating that I wanted to take advantage of the LIYMB guarantee because the gym was not a good fit. I received a text from Julie 3 days later asking me to reconsider. Then I received an email from Justin a day later asking me to reconsider again and giving me the link to an online form to complete for the cancellation. I completed the form online. In his email, Justin told me I needed to complete the 8 class requirement. I emailed Justin back to say that I had completed the forms and my 8 classes (per my count) and if there was some other requirement, that I would like for him to advise me quickly. I got an email back on Feb. 10th indicating that their system showed that I had only completed 6 of the 8 classes because my 2 intro classes did not count, which is not specified anywhere guarantee verbiage.

Instead of getting my $168 payment back, I had now been charged an additional $168 for a new month plus the $30 drop-in class, which really upset me. I had even purchased the HR monitor ($100+) initially because I was all in. I informed OTF Tenleytown on 4 occasions (phone, text, email, and online form) that I wanted to cancel and yet I was still charged for a new month. Nobody attempted to speak with me about my request and as of today (2/13/23), I have yet to receive a phone call regarding my concerns. How many times does one need to communicate a request before being taken seriously and treated respectfully? If you tally all of this up, that is about $400-$500 that I’ve spent for a gym that does not work for me. It feels like I was scammed and that OTF Tenleytown is not acting in good faith. They have the guarantee in lip service only. I caution anyone who is considering this gym. Their customer practices are not in good faith…Buyer beware!

This review is for the management only. I've had consistently great experiences with the coaches and I'm sad that I will not be taking classes with any of them again. I've been going to Orange Theory for about two years now. My main form of exercise is weight training, but I found that the cardio-centric OT workout has helped increase my stamina and endurance for running, so I've been including an OT workout at the Tenleytown studio pretty regularly (if you're looking to increase strength this isn't your place, but that's a different review).

OT offers several class packages, but I normally buy drop-in classes because as a parent with two kids in college, it makes better sense for my budget. The class package would only take $2 off per class and buying drop-in classes allows me to not have to lay out $280 at one time. OT definitely distinguishes between people who buy packages and are thereby considered "members", and people like me who buy drop-in classes even if they go regularly.

As per my usual, I bought a class yesterday and booked for the 4:30 pm class today, December 30th. However, I woke up this morning with a cold and a cough and thought that I probably should not go today. They have a reasonable cancellation policy overall - if you cancel 8 hours before your scheduled class you won't be penalized. I understand this. It makes sense. They want to discourage people from signing up for a class and then canceling too late for other people to fill that spot. However, most businesses will make an exception at least once in the case of illness. It's just good customer service and it's the right thing to do. Not Orange Theory. Even though I have never canceled a class for any reason, I was told that I would just have to lose it if I didn't keep my scheduled class. They refused to let me apply the class to another day. I even called seven hours in advance to make sure that there would be time for someone else to book it. I was told to come take the class today or lose my money. I would have called earlier, but I happened to sleep later than usual because I was not feeling well. I called as soon as I woke up. So, my takeaway is this: not only does the management of Orange Theory Tenleytown have no compassion for its regular clients who have the misfortune of falling sick within the 8 hour cancellation window, it's apparent that don't care about their other clients either as evidenced by their willingness to put them at risk by encouraging sick people to workout anyway or lose their class. Evidently, there is no grace period for anyone for any reason. Screw the clients. OT will be damned if they'll lose $30.

Ironically, my daughters chipped in to buy me a visa gift card in the amount of the 10 class package for Christmas. The website wouldn't take the gift card for some reason so I was going to buy the package when I went to the studio. I reserved the drop-in class because it won't let you book a class without paying first. My plan was to purchase the package when I went in for class. So, now I have a new plan. I doped myself up on Advil Cold and Sinus and I'm taking the class, but I'm not buying a class package or ever setting foot in Orange Theory ever again. I will also make it my mission to discourage anyone from taking classes at OT Tenleytown. I apologize in advance if anyone catches a nasty cold and cough, but if you do, you should take it up with the management. In closing, I'll leave you with a reminder that colds (and the flu!) are caused by viruses, so those little anti-bacterial cloths that they give you to wipe off the equipment give you absolutely no protection from viral infections. Good Luck!

I've been going to OTF for years - was an original member when NYC opened in Chelsea, have gone in Chicago, SF, Marin County, Del Ray Beach, San Diego, and many other OTF locations. I am also very familiar with the cancellation policy. I booked a class in the morning to attend an evening class. I had a bit of a cold in the morning, but was well enough to attend that evening I thought. As the day progressed, I was coughing and sneezing more and more and a fever developed. Because I had cancelled literally 1x back in April (7 months prior), the studio would not grant me an exception to add the class back into my account and cancel me out. The classes are expensive and because this is a "premium" studio I had to pay an extra $10 to use one of my classes in my package that by not attending I would forfeit, in addition to forfeiting the class they wouldn't credit back to my account. It's not right, and it's also not right to subject other OTF members to someone sick in class. No one wants to have to cancel a class, and it's terrible to do that to someone.

I really love Orange Theory -- I am about 50 classes in and already obsessed. I love the motivation that I feel when I go to class by being around others doing the same workut. I test my body for everything it can do each workout, especially on the treadmill. I am feeling much more confident about my body and what I can do already. Thank you Orange Theory for making me motivated to work out each day I go!!
