I’ve been training at Pole Pressure consistently for a few weeks now (but I’ve come to classes sporadically while visiting DC for the past three years) and I’m so happy that this studio exists. The teachers are well-trained, professional and patient, and they each have an awesome grasp of pole dance techniques. They also give awesome suggestions and recommendations that have helped me significantly in my pole dancing journey. They have never made me feel discouraged or less than for making mistakes or being less advanced than others. The studio is incredibly queer friendly and is located on a major bus line! Even though classes can be physically challenging and demanding, I always enjoy coming and learning something new. I’m so excited to call Pole Pressure my new pole dancing home after recently moving to the area! It’s important to consider that the location does not have elevator access.

I’ve really enjoyed the classes I’ve taken here, especially sensual pole. It’s a great way to get in touch with your divine feminine. Also, I love that the studio is black woman-owned.
The only things to note are that the classes vary a lot by instructor (which means you have a to try a few classes and see who and what you prefer) and there is a very strictly enforced policy on lateness (so make sure you get there at least a few minutes early so you don’t get locked out of classes)

I've been coming to Pole Pressure for a few years and really love the studio! Everyone here is really inviting and friendly. The owner, Devon, goes out of her way to create community. The classes are super popular, so you gotta be on top of your registration. The pole, lyra, and sensual pole classes are all fantastic! Controversial opinion is that I actually like the late policy- the classes are an hour which goes by quickly, so I actually appreciate it as it makes sure we start on time and everyone is safe. Devon is extremely understanding, so I'm certain if I was unavoidably late she'd give me the class credit back to be used at a future time. If you're reading this review, you should come dance with us!

I was aiming for 3:58 and arrived at 4:02 because it was my first time trying to find the place. The door was locked and I couldn’t get in. Honestly not a good place if you are looking for pole fitness flexibility. It’s supposed to be a hobby, not a regime.

The beginner foundation series is the perfect introduction to pole basics and it was great to be able to build upon each skill. After completing the series, I had a fairly good understanding of which level class was appropriate for me to take next. Andrew is a great instructor and made class safe and fun. He is great at uplifting and supporting students and I will definitely be back to take his classes!

I signed up for a pole dancing class scheduled at 4:00 PM. I arrived at 4:02 PM due to an unavoidable street incident that forced my Uber to reroute. Despite being only two minutes late, the doors were locked. Another girl and I were left outside, and we had to call the business to even speak to someone.
I explained that I left 30 minutes early and that the delay was out of my control. Still, the woman on the phone claimed they were “too far into the warm-up” to let us in. But my friend who was already inside the class confirmed they hadn’t even started the warm-up yet.
We were still on the phone with staff until 4:11, yet they tried to say I was “10 minutes late” and refused to take responsibility. They blamed me, citing a “safety issue,” and said they couldn’t let us in—yet made no real effort to problem-solve.
No refund. No flexibility. Just cold and dismissive customer service. The energy was weird, and the way they handled everything was unprofessional and unwelcoming.
Never returning. Save your money and go somewhere that actually respects your time and treats customers with care.
(edit: I was not there closer to 4:05. I was there at 4:02. They can check the cameras if they want and I have a Witness)

Terrible customer service. Owner doesn’t know how to treat people; or how to run a business. I am surprised this place it is still in business. Package deals are a scam, and studio wont even honor them. Save yourself a headache and give your business to someone that will appreciate you and treat you with respect. This place is a joke. Stay away!
Edit: Studio claiming I am a fake customer is simply not true. Not finding me in their database does not mean I have never been there. Here are the facts (similar reviews here will back my claim):
1) Classes are cancelled (sometimes within 2 hours of class) without apologies. Studio does not hold themselves accountable to same standards they ask their customer to uphold.
2) Packages are sold, yet there is no warning that despite holding those passes, you cannot sign up for classes unless nobody else wants them (i.e. there seems to be a priority list to sign up).
3) Packages can be cancelled by the studio even after bought, just because they feel like it or they feel they make a mistake, showing that the customer is not a priority.
4) Owner will not apologize to customers even if the studio is the one making the mistake. In fact, owner expects everyone to bent over backward to help her just because she is a small business owner.
I will say instructors are good, and respectful. But if you are a new customer, expect to be treated like a second class citizen. Again, if you are new to this studio, stay away and save yourself a headache. It will be impossible to get a consistent workout here.

I’ve taken a few beginner pole classes at Pole Pressure and just recently took their “Art of Seduction: Chair Play” workshop and LOVED it. The instructor Khristena made it so much fun, encouraging, and easy to follow while learning new things and feeling sexy. Exactly what I was hoping to get out of the workshop when I signed up. Looking forward to taking more classes!

Advance instructor was awesome! Class was very fun and I had a really good time. All good vibes :)
If the class was full it would have been pretty difficult for me because I have longer legs and the space is fairly small for how many poles they have. So that is something to be mindful of.

Surprisingly I have found the sub teachers to be the best, like Kristen and Vanessa. Their classes had the best ratio of 15 min warm up and 45m pole, sometimes the other teachers leave too short for pole time. I do wish there was a class between beginner and advanced beginner given that the beginner classes are a bit repetitive but its hard to go straight to advanced be. Minus a star because of the late door policy, I think the cases where people are few min late are often out of control situation.

I love the studio!!! I have reached an intermediate Level but still struggling through the process!:) I have been going to the studio since 2022 and I have enjoyed working with many instructors!:) so far my 5 start teachers are Julia and Laura! :) they are very fun to work with! Julia in particular has a great personality and encourages her students to take the best out of them! When a shape seems difficult she makes you feel that it is easier to do and she will make you try and try it again until you realize you can do it! She works magic!!!! And it is because She knows her job pretty well and it is so fun and pleasant to be in her classes! Her knowledge in professional ballet and contemporary dancing helps her students in performing and discovering new talent!! She really makes me want to do better and better every time I step in a class!
Kudos to Julia! Laura is phenomenal as well! The way she breaks down the class is amazing and she is easy to follow in every step of the class. I love her classes as well! I wish she can take more slots:( kudos to Laura as well!:)

The class was really fun and made poling very accessible for beginners and people of different shapes, sizes, and ability levels. The instructor was fantastic and supportive. Just one complaint: we were told each person would have their own pole for 10 people. There were actually only 9 poles, and the instructor's pole, which was not always available. this was only a problem at the very beginning (first 15 minutes) of class but we were kind of surprised at first.

The instructors are a god send— Kind and encouraging. With their support, I’ve realized I’m capable of more than I could’ve dreamed. I haven’t had the best experience with the owner, Devon, though. Most of our interactions they have been really rude, assumptious/accusatory, or passive aggressive. This place is amazing!!! I’ve been to a handful of beginner pole classes here and I’m already hooked. It’s so much fun, and the instructors are FABULOUS. There’s a very positive sense of community that puts you at ease when you walk in the door. I was a little nervous at first that I might feel self-conscious in class (I’m new to pole and my visual-spatial coordination isn’t great) but the instructors have a way of meeting everyone where they’re at and fostering a comfortable environment where you won’t worry about making mistakes. It’s definitely a learning process, but seeing myself slowly improve has been really rewarding. My only regret is that I didn’t start going sooner!

I love pole dancing, and this place is the place that get me started on my pole journey. The teachers are amazing and friendly. However, the booking is just really miserable. I never get my favorite teacher’s class, and the only way to get her class is to sign up for a membership (it costs $165/month with a three-month contract), which I can’t do because I will only live in DC for less than 3 months. They also change the platform to sign up for classes very often, and I don’t know why. I really like the fitDegree system, but then they now change to a new one that is quite confusing. I still love pole dancing, and I’d love for the studio to improve their class sign-up system.

Do not book here. Poor customer service.
I booked a class over a week prior to the class. Paid in full. A day before the class I was informed the class was cancelled via email. Then I get a text saying they don’t issue refunds and I have to fulfill the class with them regardless of my schedule. I just wanted to try this company out but after this experience, no thank you. To infringe inconveniences on customers shows a huge lack of regard.
Customer service is very important, if you have to cancel then you should ask the customer how they was to proceed in such event. You can’t force them to rebook and still do business with you especially due to your error and change of schedule. A lot of these places have policies if you are late and if you cancel last minute but don’t uphold themselves to the same esteem.
They offered to rebook but I already looked at the schedule and during the day all beginner classes are booked til end of April so there would be no use for me.
This is probably why the policies are geared to their benefit because they pull stunts like this often. Save yourself the money and time.

W/o refund or credit if you are some one who is late or it’s an accident/ parking issue/ life just turn around and save the hassle as no one will be available at the locked door. May be a good experience but I wouldn’t know. Not sure if I’ll risk going back as I’ve already lost my initial amount for class. Smart. but seems like a ploy for money. This review is long overdue. I cannot stress enough how fantastic Pole Pressure is as a business. Prior to moving overseas I was lucky enough to take a couple pole and hoop classes at the studio. Every single class was not only fun, but an incredible workout. Even in the COVID digital era I was able to take an online class, Twerkshop with Keabra. I had so much fun. Keabra is such a fabulous instructor, I highly recommend people take any of her stretch/handstand/twerk classes. Or if Keabra is in DC take one of her pole classes in the studio. You won't regret it. The owner of Pole Pressure Devon is also wonderful. Super responsive and communicative to emails. Really cares about the business and those who teach and take classes. If you are in DC take a class at the studio. If you aren't in DC take one of Pole Pressure's many online classes. I can't wait to get back and take an in-person class. Thank you Devon for giving us such a wonderful place to work hard and have fun.

This is more for costumer service seeing how I never went. I recently moved back to VA after living in LA and this is the closest studio I found offering open pole so I booked a time online on a day that said it was open, when checking out the only option I had said “additional $10” so I had just assumed the $50 was already being charged and completed the purchase.
A few moments later I get a call from them and the woman I spoke to seemed extremely irritated and upset with me saying I didn’t pay enough and I tried to explain but she was so short with me and didn’t seem to want to listen and just reiterated that I didn’t pay the correct amount, which I had apologized for and said I’d be happy to be charged the full amount that I assumed I had paid. But then she went on to say that the date I had scheduled was supposed to be blocked off and that they wouldn’t be open that day at all so I would just be refunded the $10.
All in all it should have been such a simple situation to fix I made a mistake I was using my phone to book it maybe it glitched I had no intention of cheating the system but she handled it so poorly and with such an attitude I don’t see myself rebooking. The pole community I came from and know in La would never ever talk to someone like that so call me a pansy but I’m not dealing with this kind of attitude when I would have been totally fine with a call explaining the situation and making it right calmly.

Pole Pressure DC got me back to working out. All classes are fun and challenging. They even offer free classes so that your friends can try those out too. Devon is a great instructor.

I've been attending classes here for about a month. I will say I love the instructors and i always feel challenged. However, I agree with what some people say about the attitudes here. Alot of people have formed their groups, and if you're not in them forget about making friends. And if you arent in the competitive circuit, you can at times feel like an outsider. But all that aside the classes are still very good.

Before starting my experience at pole pressure I used to go to other pole studios. Pole pressure is definitely better for many reasons. I particularly appreciate the many classes available that cover all the levels, from beginner to advanced, whereas other studios have only few choices. It may be a little bit more expensive than other but you are sure to have your pole without sharing it with other 2/3 people. Instructors are amazing... Really well trained and they follow all the people in the class to help them, and also very supportive.
So far my favorite studio on DC!

If you are looking for teachers that push you to get better with every class and learn new, fun tricks and spins this is the place for you!
The foundation classes are life and you get to advance at your own pace . Everyone is rooting for you to get better. Classes are small and staff is the best.
100% recommended.

I had a great experience here. Once I made an account, they stayed in contact with me and offered help along the way and answered all my questions. When I arrived, the instructor was very friendly and professional. I would definitely come back to visit.

Had a lovely experience here. I was in DC for the week and wanted to train for a competition. I had the whole room for myself and the staff was very friendly. Beautiful space with nice height.

So I came to do the Lyra/Aeriel Hoop Class and I was so unhappy with my experience I never came back even though I paid in advance for 3 classes. No one really seemed like they cared and the environment felt far from welcoming, especially to a new member such as myself. Since I arrived early (like 10 minutes) I was just told to wait and since there was no real waiting area I just sat on the floor with my phone. The instructor was nice but never introduced herself nor asked our names, she did not take the time to learn anything about the new students (which may have only been me) everything just felt impersonal. She did not even announce that class was about to start. I was waiting and looking at my phone and before I knew it class was going.
The overall environment seem cliquey. Instead of setting up for the Hoop class the staff was just talking. The class didn't start until 5-10 minutes after start time but ended promptly, there were 6 people but only 3 hoops and a small room with a low ceiling. It was a cramped experience and half the time people were walking in between the hoops and interrupting the Hoop class to use the bathroom (the pole class is in another room and the Hoop class is right near the bathroom so people from the pole class interrupted the Hoop class, it was very annoying). There was not enough space or instruction, most of the time the students were leading the class. I felt like my time was mostly wasted.
I think if you are interested in the Lyra class you need to go somewhere else, especially if you have no experience with the Lyra or no experience with this business.

I am a CERTAIN type of person. At times yes I did get a mean girl vibe. Yes I did struggle with parking. And yes the prices were high. But I keep coming I leave my house earlier and budget for my classes. I adjust. Because it is worth it to me. This isn't high school ladies and gentlemen its business, step up or step out. For those of you who find it to easy "congrats ". There's always some new Super Extreme class for you around the DMV with a Groupon coupon most likely, lol. Basically after PUSHING MYSELF through all of the challenges. I find what I learn there confidence boosting and fun.

I love PolePressure. I've been going there for a year now and it's like my second home(i'm always there). The classes are great, because the instructors pay close attention to what the class wants and needs. #PolePressure

I have been going here for a little over a year only for the aerial hoop (lyra) class specifically the level 2. They have gotten significantly better at the class then when I first started. The instructor has always been very helpful with moves and is good with connecting them and spotting when needed.
The reason for 4 stars is the space is not the best for aerial classes. The ceiling is to low, but they do best with studio space they have.

After reading so many reviews on not feeling welcome by the instructors, I can definitely see where people are coming from. I too experienced a standoffish vibe, which is unfortunate since I'm always nervous to try out new studios as it is. I wish I could say I walked away feeling good about being there. On a more practical note, the chick on desk tonight was super friendly and on top of things. The instructor was definitely skilled (and the warm-up was fun), but the class felt rushed and he didn't seem engaged after showing us/describing the move we were learning. It basically was "sink or swim," as someone put it, and I can't say he was very proactive about helping me when I asked for it, not to say he didn't, eventually... But standing ten feet away from someone and speaking to them doesn't work for every student. No one was spotting anyone, and a couple students fell off the poles -- no mats. The frustrating part was knowing I was technically capable of executing the move, but lingering on page one because so much was trying to be covered in such a short timeframe. The only other problem was not being told where anything was and what materials I had access to. I'd probably still give it one more go for a private lesson or workshop, though.

Pole pressure really hates me. I always go out of my way to take classes but there is always an excuse of why I can't participate. First time i called, the woman was rude and cut me off on the phone. She then stated that there wasn't a class that offer want I wanted. I still saw this course advertised online so i called back another day and they do offer( first girl was wrong) I drove a good 50mins in city traffic and struggled with parking. I even took off work for this day because I just really needed have a good time and do something for myself. I really wanted to try this. I was 15mins late, because parking sucks in that area so i couldn't join. Im not saying that Pole Pressure is bad but it they are just not a super friendly business and i dont think they are accepting of all types of people. They never gave me a chance after several attempts. Ill just take my business elsewhere, they dont want mine :/

What a great place to work out!! Every class I learn so much!! Great way to burn calories, dance, pole and have fun. The teachers are nice and helpful. The studio is always clean and inviting. I visited a few studios since arriving in the N. VA/DC area and I am definitely pleased with my choice to visit this studio.
