i’ve gone to the Park View location for about a year and a half now. I have had the pleasure of taking classes with Tamar, Vic, Starlight and Kay. Each one is a professional and brings their own personality and motivation to the space. I am so grateful to have been able to change my life with these folks along the way.

If you’ve ever felt out of place at a gym but want to find your place, run to SWEAT DC. It’s inclusive, encouraging, and full of folks who show up for each other, no matter your body type, background, or starting point.

I’ve been going for over six years and have tried everything from OrangeTheory to Barry’s and everything in between, but SWEAT is different. The workouts push you, the team is incredible, and the vibes are always on point. You’ll never feel judged, only welcomed.

And honestly, it’s been amazing to watch the business grow. The hustle, the heart, the community they’ve built is something special. They deserve your support, and you deserve to feel stronger and more confident. Try it. You won’t regret it.

It's a great workout and vibe. I do drop in classes every now and then because it's close and it's sorta my club alternative since quitting drinking. However, it's not a gym that I could ever become a member of, and quality of instruction sometimes varies greatly by trainer. I've done pretty common mods (e.g. foot on floor not bench when we were supposed to do bulgarians because I was having trouble with my ankle) and was pressured/ questioned a lot by certain coaches. I've also gotten lectured for showing up 30s late to class because the train was late. Literally took up the entire warm up shaming me that I was going to miss the warm up for coming late, when I would have been fine otherwise. The program itself is great. Most of the coaches are great. The main things that keeps me from becoming a member is 1) pricing structure, and 2) inability to play sports and hit both an upper and lower day. 1) the lower tier of membership prevents you from going to an upper, lower, and full body day, so the only option if you'd want to do all 3 each week is unlimited, and unlimited is prohibitively expensive. 2) If you play any sport or really just have regular after work obligations, you'll probably never be able to do either an upper or lower day, because their splits are by day. Which is great if this is the only thing you do for a workout, or can squeeze it in in the morning, but otherwise it doesn't work out too well.

You will get a great, functional workout here that will serve all of your health and fitness goals! The classes are small, fast paced (in a good way), and the coaches make it around to help everybody individually. They have plenty of plates, dumbbells and other equipment to choose from, which allows everybody to work hard - from beginners to seasoned weightlifters/athletes. The coaches and other members are really supportive and kind. Just go!

I love coming to Sweat! I've tried a lot of work out classes from CrossFit to boxing, but I have definitely become my strongest with the programming at Sweat. I love that the workouts are short but effective. I used to wander around the big box gyms for hours and didn't see results. The coaches are all unique, professional and bring so much to the table. Starlight helps push me but makes sure my form is perfect, Kay is always dropping inspiration and is motivational to be your best in and outside the gym, Tamar always has a great playlist going and a smile on, and Vic is such a hype woman. I've also made some new friends since joining!

Before coming to Sweat, I thought a consistent workout routine was totally out of reach for me. I did their spring challenge, and I began to see and feel a difference in 6 weeks. Now I’ve been going over a year, and I’m doing things I thought impossible. The class-based weightlifting format is unique. The community is supportive and inclusive, and the coaches are the BEST: Starlight, Kay, Tamar.

Mixed feelings about Sweat. If you’re motivated by super high intensity workouts, this could be for you. I’m glad I came as a beginner when it was more chill- I learned a lot, liked the community, and conquered my fear of weight lifting. But the cons eventually outweighed the pros for me. I’d recommend trying it out with one off classes to make sure it’s right for you.
I was a part of this gym for two years- 2021- fall 2023. But the vibe changed a lot in that time- from a welcoming but challenging environment with a variety of coaching styles to a high pressure, high intensity environment constantly pushing for more commitment and $ and eventually only one coaching style- super high energy yelling. They also in the process became less inclusive to people who weren’t already fit/ couldn’t hack the high intensity or sometimes odd movements in the workouts. Coaches were still able to modify if you asked- but near the end of my time they didn’t seem to understand why mods were needed. The structure of the workouts were rushed with incorporating HIIT and very little time for rest or stretching. For me this structure went from empowering and inclusive to really demotivating. They were also less receptive to feedback as time went on and got a bit shady with their membership and hiring practices, which was the last straw for me. Because of the high pressure, it may no longer be the best environment for someone who is very self conscious or has past health issues related to working out/ diet.

Oh did I mentioned my chronic lower back pain is now gone! I’ve done personal training and group classes. Both experiences were top notch and learned so much from both. I just wish I joined earlier, movement is medicine. There are folks of all ages, ability, strength and size. Their system works and is super fun!

Overall a good class and place to work out. The vibe is intense and a tad overwhelming. Also I did lightly injure myself because the instructor pressured me into doing more than I knew I could. There’s no time built in for stretching in the class which was definitely not great for me. I think maybe don’t come here if, like me, you’re just starting or restarting your fitness journey.

SWEAT DC is a community. It focuses on strength training with an emphasis on progressive overload. They’ve recently expanded their HIIT classes. Most group classes are held between 6-8am, 12 noon, and 5-7pm. In between those times, you can book a personal training appointment with talented male and female coaches. I’ve been extremely happy with Nina (Andreina) and I might reach out to Malika next!

I’ve been coming here for about a year. I was new to strength training and weight lifting and I’m glad that I started with personal training to focus on form. Then I graduated to the classes. If you’ve done strength training before, you will likely be able to jump in feet first. I was scared to do that and I definitely would have been overwhelmed if I had tried to do classes only with no intro training first.

What I love about SWEAT is that the staff here make an effort to know your name. That’s unusual anywhere. It’s also an intentionally super-inclusive gym, with rainbow and BLM flags proudly displayed. The SWEAT team has actively worked to build a wonderful community where everyone is welcome.

I travel for work for a few months at a time so I've tried many different gyms. Not that it shows. Anyway, there are 3 parts to why I love Sweat. 1. The coaches. The coaches are really friendly and are great about making you feel confident/comfortable with new types of exercises/weights. I've witnessed this with everyone, no matter your size or experience level. 2. The workouts. I love that their workouts are designed to prevent injury. The workout has a prep session to get you ready for the bigger part of the workout with similar movements. I think too many gyms lose sight on the importance of proper form preventing injuries. 3. The music. If I had one, i'd sell my first born to get access to their old school playlists.

I took my first ever class this past Saturday.

Pros:
Great music !
Instructor was inviting , did well with circulating the classroom, and encouraged participants to engage with one another.
Tv visuals to see exercises.

Cons:
Parking is journey.
There is only one bathroom.
The workout seems to be premade and did not give many alternatives for individuals who are not beginners. I say this because the TV screens did not show progressions or regressions.
Price point- I am current member of LifeTime and for the price point I have access to multiple gyms and alpha classes and it still would be more affordable.

It was overall a good experience and it would take another free community class.

SWEAT DC is the best gym in DC! I attended classes/intro sessions at 4 other gyms in the Petworth/Capitol Hill/Columbia Heights area when I first moved to DC before finding SWEAT, and I can say that there is no comparison! SWEAT DC has a great schedule of affordable classes - each class will keep you moving and your heart-rate up for the full class duration (other gyms I tried only had limited movement during the class, or were ridiculously expensive for only a few classes a month). I have been attending classes for almost a year now and I am stronger, more flexible, and have more endurance then when I began, to the point I am adding more weight to my workouts when I never thought I would! The instructors are also top notch - they know the gym members by name, pick great workout music, and are incredibly motivating. They push you to do your best, while adapting movements for you if you ask, without being pushy. I love their positivity and daily inspirations. Overall I am so glad I found SWEAT DC in my neighborhood!

This is a damn good gym. I will say that I have not necessarily fell in love with every class, BUT i love the welcoming environment, texts, emails, website.

The most negative thing I have to say about it is the location. The harassment getting to it is insane. There’s catcalling every time which is draining. I’m sure this isn’t their intention to make female customers feel unsafe but I do wish there were some security or something.

My only other con is I wish there were classes that were specifically for intro people. My friend and I did a class today focusing on upper body but it was definitely not beginner friendly in our opinion. So we won’t do that class anymore.

The HIIT classes tho.. those so far have been AMAZING & beginner friendly!!

I love Sweat! The workouts are so intense and challenging, and I've gotten so much stronger in the last year! I started going to crosstrain for a half marathon and kept going waaaaay past the race. The space is so welcoming and body positive-- the instructors don't ever push weight loss, and keep the energy and positivity up. It's reaaaally LGBTQ friendly, and I feel really safe in the space. The front desk staff are so kind and helpful, and they really quickly learn your name. There's a challenge nearly every month that encourages you to make new friends (who are generally neighbors). While the workout structure is pretty consistent, they're always adding cool new things (sledgehammers! Rowing machines! EMOMs! Really hard core work!). Coach G is awesome, and his classes are so good, but honestly, all of the instructors are great-- I take most classes with Chris, Brendan, and Nazinga, but I honestly have enjoyed every instructor I've taken class from.

I do recommend wearing earplugs because the music is a hair too loud-- they provide them, so no worries about remembering.

SWEATDC is my favorite workout in DC. The instructors are incredible, studio is clean, and with the 45 minute HIIT circuit classes, you can always fit that into your schedule(there are early morning classes and several evenings ones too). The owner Coach G has such an infectious personality and welcomes everyone with open arms and a meaningful twerk! He cares so deeply for all his students, staff and each individuals personal health journey and progress. My favorite instructors are Sarah, Neechie and Nazinga, their music is always on point. When I am too tired to do another rep, I just dance around in place. The lights are low, music is catchy and since everyone is working out at the same time, there is no worrying that folks are watching my terrible looking burpees. If you are looking for an awesome place to workout in the judgement free zone, SWEATDC is your new home. You will likely see me there (in the mornings), I am the chunky black girl in the front...working out hard (dancing, singing) and sweating like crazy!!!!!

I attended SWEAT DC for about a month and a half. I mainly joined because of a deal/challenge they had provided unlimited classes for about a month. I am truly not one to workout consistently, but this motivated me to! Classes are fun and different and you really feel the workout. I never workout long enough or consistently enough to see results, but I did here! I wish I was still attending, but it got expensive for me (I'm a student!) plus, I am no longer in the DC area. I have definitely thought about my moments there and miss it. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to do workouts with a lead and structure and challenge! They changed their business model recently, and I have been loyal but will not be back when my unlimited package is done. I have been charged $50 just this week for missing 2 classes, even though I called. On the other hand, they are giving out a ton of free and other passes so if you do not book ahead of time, the classes are full. The solution: book way in advance. The problem: You get charged $25 for canceling within 12 hours. I get that you need notice, but this means that even if I find out as early as 9 am that I am going to have a late night, it is too late for me to cancel my 715 pm class. If I do, I get a $25 charge. There is no flexibility and your pockets will be hurting after paying again for a class after already paying $300 for unlimited passes. Nickeling and diming and very inconsiderate to loyal customers trying to work around the tough scheduling resulting from changes they made.

I have been a faithful member at SWEAT DC for over a year now and it is the best gym I've ever been a member of! Everyone, coaches and clients alike, are so friendly and really create an inclusive, accepting environment. The music is great and the workout classes are full of energy! I particularly like the addition of the STRONG classes - lifting heavy and watching myself get stronger is so rewarding.

I love this gym! I've been a member for about 4 months and I feel like I finally found a place to keep me motivated. Everyone is very friendly, it feels like a community. I went from never using my WSC membership to showing up 4 days a week at Sweat DC. If you're looking for a neighborhood gym with a great class schedule and awesome instructors this is it!

Ear plugs are provided free and I always use them since I find the volume a little loud. But that's really my only complaint.

This place is crazy fun and always challenging, but more importantly it is welcoming and inclusive to all people, bodies, and fitness levels. Sweat DC is very near and dear to my heart, and it will be to yours too.

The most common class structure is a 45-minute instructor-led boot camp-style workout. Whether you are a beginner or a fitness god, it will shred you in the best ways. There are always new kinds of classes to try as well, focusing on special techniques, themes, dance workouts and more. Their excellent locker rooms make it easy to roll in, sweat, get cleaned up, and get straight to work. This is the HIIT workout that you have been looking for, not to mention their special focus classes, running group, yoga, and so on. More important than all of that, they pay attention to building a community, getting to know everyone, making sure everyone is comfortable and included. This family atmosphere makes a big difference.

The first week will definitely be the hardest, but it's so satisfying to see results when you keep it up. The classes are fun and they fly by, so it's perfect for people like me who hate working out but love the way it feels afterward. I get no points or perks for sharing this, I just truly believe in this place. Get in there and get your sweat on.

SWEAT DC is an AMAZING full body workout with great instructors who always have high energy, positive attitudes, and passion for what they do. They offer a wide range of classes for whatever you are looking for. The instructors are very accommodating if you have an injury or need a modification for any reason. The members are very friendly and offer a "community" experience every time you go. Not to mention the studio is always spotless and smells great (very important in gym). Branden Allen is one of their best trainers, although they are all amazing. GREAT GYM!

SweatDC gives you results without the attitude and scary instructors you find at other boutique HIIT studios in DC. No mean girls of any gender (you know who you are), no Bro-titude here. Instead, it provides a fun, yet intense, 45 minutes of cardio + strength training set to great music, where you're encouraged by instructors - and peers of all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, etc. - who are happy to be there. And unlike some other "globally branded" studios, it has showers, amenities, and staff who remember your name - like "Cheers," but with burpees instead of beer. If you want to find your long lost abs, this is the place to do it.

I LOVE Sweat DC! It’s everything I was looking for in a gym. It feels like a personal training session in a group setting. The coaches and front desk staff are top notch- they’re supportive, encouraging, and just really nice people. They know your name and take the time to establish personal connections. I enjoy the workouts (they’ve pushed me to work harder than I ever have) and can already feel mental and physical changes in 6 weeks. I like the Sweat DC routine and how it’s the same each class but the exercises change and there’s fun equipment to use too. I didn’t think I would like having to schedule/sign up for each class but it has actually forced me to be more consistent with my workouts and establish self discipline with going on days even when I don’t feel like working out (afterwards I’m always glad that I went!). Thank you Sweat DC for the opportunity to be my best self and of course, get sweaty! ;)

Wonderful location, polite and helpful staff and good amenities. If you are looking for a space with a variety of classes and an energetic feel Sweat DC is a perfect fit. I’ve never spent more than 5 minutes looking for parking and as a bonus there are healthy meal options within walking distance.

I LOVE SWEAT DC! I can't afford a membership so i only go to classes here and there, mostly through classpass. I have really enjoyed every one. They're tough but well designed and the pump up music and party lighting really motivates me and makes it fun. Great group of people, great location. It's somehow not "boutiquey" or "culty" the way some other alternative workout places can feel. I really feel great when I'm at Sweat DC (and sore afterwards).

Literally my FAVORITE Place! I've been a monthly unlimited member since October 2017 and have never regretted the choice. Why do I love this place so much? It's the energy, the music, the no judgements, the trainers, the members, and the workouts...yes, even the hard ones.

I leave here feeling stronger after each workouts. It's a personal training experience but with a group of people. Even in a class of 20 you still receive personalize help! I have my personal favorite instructors because of my music choice BUT regardless, EACH and EVERY instructor is AMAZING!!! They have created a place that celebrates success, great or small! Wellness and fitness come in all sizes and SWEAT reminds you that they are here to help you #sweatoutsidethebox so don't be afraid to get a little sweaty! :)

NOTE: I have never taken their dance classes (dance isn't for me) BUT I have heard amazingly good things about John & Rico's GET DOWN.

I used to struggle with feeling comfortable at a gym or in fitness spaces, because I didn't play sports growing up and felt I lacked basic information. SWEAT DC changed that narrative for me, as I saw people with all different body types and abilities in class. The trainers are always watching to make sure we have good form and offer modifications when needed. I absolutely love coming into SWEAT and getting stronger with the SWEAT community.

Meh. Workouts were just ok. Very repetitive and some didn't make sense. I didn't feel like it was the place for me. I'm not the fittest or skinniest person, and it seemed to cater more towards those types of people. Still, some people looked like they liked it. I might come back, but there are other options in the area I want to try first.

I recommend Sweat DC 100%.

This is cardio + weights + core. Full workout in 45 minutes. I go twice a week. Once for upper body and once for lower body and I don't feel like I have done the same workout twice. I leave completely exhausted and exhilarated. And in just a few weeks I am stronger than I've ever been.

If you don't workout this is a great place to start. The instruction is spot on.

If you have only done cardio and not much strength exercise (like me) this is such a good place to start. Coach G's workouts, even his weight training, are all balanced oriented. Intended to work your core more than anything. Although I have been sore after workouts here, I have never felt my back at all.

If you just lift, I challenge you to checkout a Coach G cardio session. Brutal--in the best ways.
