My kid was taking classes only for 2 months because he got a spot at a local preK in the middle of term which we had been waiting for a while….
Unfortunately the cancellation policy was quite confusing…. I have to admit I didn’t read the fine lines on the contract, but how many people read contracts line by line?! I missed the last day of cancelling day which it was earlier than when the first class… and their classes to make up that we missed were often full….
However, I have to say all the staff, the coaches( instructors) are very warming, friendly and engaging with kids and very well qualified!
Especially Tony was always there and oversaw every single kid at the classroom. In the end, he was able to fit my kid into weekends makeup classes!!
I love staff there! Just not the company policy and how they bill their customers.
Just read all the fine prints.
That’s only my complaint.
Thanks, coach Tony!

We love this little gym. The instructors are so patient with the kids. I have two rambunctious boys and they handle them wonderfully. The class also has the perfect amount of structure and free play for kids who are still learning to follow directions. I highly recommend it.

Love The Little Gym of Capitol Hill!

My son is two and a half and has been going to The Little Gym of Capitol Hill since he was eighteen months old, and we absolutely love it. He looks forward to his class every week!

It’s been amazing to see how much he has improved. His coordination and mobility have really taken off, and the classes have done wonders for his social skills and ability to follow directions.

A special shoutout to Coach Toni—he is fantastic, and my son adores him! If you’re looking for a positive and fun environment for your little one's development, I highly recommend this location.

We love this place! We've attend weekly and our son is now in the older more independent 3 year old class. He's grown and learned so many new skills, building confidence. The classes are a fun, easy to learn format and all the coaches are awesome. Coach Tony and Miss Leslie are incredibly sweet and are so great with the littles. Our son calls Little Gym, "Coach Tony's house". :) We've also experienced hosting a birthday party there and it was a blast. Everyone had a great time and it was super nice having the space just for us and our guests. Highly recommend!

My little one has been going to the Little Gym for 2 years now, a testament to the great team at Capitol Hill. Each class is full of fun and learning, and I’ve witnessed her growing independence and social skills. She’s had the pleasure of learning from many energetic, caring, attentive, professional, and patient coaches (Coach Tony, Miss Leslie, Coach Zia, Coach Graciela to name a few) and we look forward to more of what the gym has to offer!

The Little Gym Capitol Hill is absolutely great. Coach Tony and Coach Leslie (and all the other coaches) are the best! Our kid loves coming here and is becoming a little less timid and a little more comfortable with jumping and falling and tumbling and doing handstands and cartwheels week by week.

We have been going twice a week for about 1.5 years now (my daughter is now 2.5) and everyone in the family looks forward to Little Gym days. Not only does it burn energy but my daughter has progressed in her balance, strength, flexibility, and confidence! Miss Leslie in particular has been our teacher in the Birds and Beasts classes. She is so energetic, fun, loving, and engaging for all of the littles!

There's not many places in the area that a parent can trust to give their child a quality developmental experience; unfortunately, my daughter and I have experienced a couple of them.

TLG Capitol Hill has been exceptional, specifically Coaches Leslie and Tony. They have been able to identify my daughter's needs and assist in her development; not sure if it was skipping her to a higher-aged class or providing her with routines that would challenge her, she has flourished and looks forward to coming back.

Thanks guys!

My 7-year-old daughter Brynne takes gymnastics at The Little Gym on Capitol Hill, and we’ve had such a great experience. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and really know how to make learning fun while still helping the kids build real skills. Brynne looks forward to every class — not just for the movement and balance she’s learning, but because she feels confident and supported.

The environment is clean, safe, and energetic. I also really appreciate how well the staff communicates with parents and how they keep the classes organized while still allowing room for creativity and play.

My child loved the class, but management is incompetent. Also, it’s nearly impossible to get someone to return phone calls. So, we’re taking classes over at Arlington instead where management seems much more qualified.

The space is great for the littles, but the staff take it to another level. Under "Mr. Antonio's" leadership, Little Gym of Capitol Hill has consistently delivered smiles to our children. Whether in class, camp, or birthday parties...we are all in!

We LOVE The Little Gym! My 4 year old has been in a year and we just started our just turned 2 year old and they both have an amazing time! Can't wait to start free practice sessions now that the pandemic is getting under control.

Update: a year later in the pandemic and all is well... My 2 year old just turned 3 and seamlessly transitioned to class by himself thanks to great teachers!

The proprietor response here highlights my point that Little Gym needs to step up its kids' mask policy - especially now as the virus rages. My concern that the kids are allowed by policy to be maskless during class is mitigated in no way by the proprietor's reply. DC requires everyone 3 and up to mask when entering any establishment. Gymnastics is not a socially distant activity. The reply states kids may remove masks "if needed" while class is in session. The policy could at least be to inform parents that masking is mandatory for all at all times and announce once before class that masks must be on for all at all times so that the parents can police and staff don't have to be the "bad guys." The staff articulate the policy they are given - lots of handwashing, but once the shoes are off, kids are allowed to wear no covering. DC parents have the means to purchase lighter weight masks for their children and will do it if the policy requires. DC parents won't leave in droves. They will respect that the establishment takes the pandemic very seriously, not somewhat seriously. Aside from this, Little Gym and their staff are great!

Original post:
This is a nice, well run establishment that I'd rate more highly pre or post - covid.

The problem is, while all adults are required to wear masks, it is optional for kids. Half of the kids in the session were not wearing masks. I mentioned it to another parent who noted her kid was masked bc she had sickle cell anemia and couldn't take chances. I expect such lax attitudes toward the risks of the covid pandemic in Trumpy areas, not DC.

The instructors are firm with the kids about hand washing, which is better than nothing but not much better, as the virus is primarily spread by inhaling droplets and aerosol particles. The gym is not exceptionally well ventilated as the main area is in the basement level, with no option for windows.

In route to The Little Gym Capitol Hill, we grabbed ice cream and observed a kid's martial arts class across the street being held outside in a public triangle park with each kid, parent, and the instructor wearing masks during class.

In The Little Gym, my son was hot and complained, but and I told him keep his mask on. My daughter as well. It's regrettable that as the long winter of this pandemic begins, The Little Gym is passing the buck to parents to opt or not to have their adorable little potential vectors potentially cause harm to kids with asthma, staffers with an at risk family member in their pods, versus mandating responsible behavior.

Take a lesson from the very responsible outdoor martial arts classes. There are lighter weight cloth masks like the one my daughter wore, which I do outdoor cardio with that can be worn with less discomfort and beat the brakes off of wearing nothing. They could turn the ac up a bit so masking is less uncomfortable for little ones. DC would not permit an elementary school school to open with half of the kids in class rooms unmasked. It's about protecting others...please correct this reckless policy, Little Gym!
