We celebrated a friend's wedding with a morning yoga session with Charlie and we had the most fantastic time. Charlie worked to accommodate our group's varying skills and was so patient with us having some last minute changes! Would absolutely repeat experienced and novice yoga participants were all keen to repeat the class at some point. Can only wholeheartedly recommend!

Increíble hot yoga! Love that the temperature is just enough to get into those deeper poses but still low enough where you can comfortably breath.

One of my favorite classes in a while. I've been to a lot of studios in DC and this was up there in my favorites! There was time and space for amplifications but wasn't too difficult to the point of people not being able to keep up. Beautiful, clean studio. fun music without feeling like a club haha

Up Dog Yoga Community is welcoming, clean, thoughtfully decorated and really friendly. My husband and I did a class with Anna while visiting Washington DC. We both enjoyed the flow, the music, the group and the space. You just have to show up and they’ll take care of you! Give it a try! 🤞🏻

I attended a breathwork session at Up Dog hosted by Meghan Gifford, and it was an excellent event! The yoga space at Up Dog is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. Signing up for this class was easy and check-in was seamless! They also have events like sound bath sessions and n/a mixers - this studio is a great addition to the neighborhood! Excited to join in on more events!

Fantastic instructors and cosy space! Only feedback would be the studio is packed a bit tight as students can’t fully stretch out without touching, but I understand it’s to maximise revenue
Highly recommend!

UDYC is an amazing space to practice yoga, grow, and build community. I’ve been practicing at the studio since it opened, and I’ve yet to find a spot in the DC area that’s as welcoming as UDYC. The space is relaxing, clean, and full of nice amenities (e.g., coffee/tea, hygiene products, shower, water of all temps). The instructors each have their own, unique style, but they all take a genuine interest in getting to know both new and familiar students. I always recommend UDYC to people looking to try hot yoga, especially since the classes are around 80-85 degrees vs. 90+.

Love this place, but their rules can be a bit rigid. They have a policy of being late by 5 mins. I came in around 5 min later & when I walked in the time became 6min, the front desk lady refused to let me in (in a very polite voice) because I was 6 min and not 5 min late & that people are already warmed up there. I think logically makes no sense. What if I’m 4 mins late but go to the bathroom, she won’t let me in? And I am already there, not 10-15 mins late (it was an hour class), why not allow me to enjoy the class? she offered to cancel the class and I got my credits back, but I spend $30 on taxi just to ride around dc for no reason.

Over really nice and clean studio. Loved the temperature of the room and the flow of the class.
My advice to the studio - look at traffic flow patterns and rearrange the layout outside the rooms. The check- in desk should be in the front, so people aren’t walking through the seating area to get to it. The back zone could then have the main area for people to leave their things. It is really hard to go and leave the classes with the bag drop in the narrow hallway. If the narrow hall was for permanent yoga mat storage and extra spill over coats that would make sense, but right now it is unorganized and not relaxing to come and go from the space.

Possibly one of my favorite places in DC! Charlie has created such a welcoming and wonderful space. All of the instructors are great, but don’t miss any class with Anna (who is the best!) The coffee and tea in the lobby is such a lovely touch!

In A Nutshell:
-Up Dog was a nice yoga studio I got to practice at while passing through D.C.
-The staff were extremely kind.
-As a first timer at their studio you can rent a mat for free, perfect for travelers w/out a mat.
-The 60 minute power vinyasa flow class was really challenging & I felt bad for the yoga mat afterwards since I turned it into a small pond of sweat.
-The class size was perfect & you are facing each other in two horizontal rows while you practice.
Overall, I really enjoyed the instructor, the cleaniness of the studio & of course the non-judgemental vibe of fellow yogis!

Charlie hosted a virtual yoga class for our remote team and it was a great experience! Communication and planning was seamless, and the event was well-organized. Everyone enjoyed the gentle class that was tailored to beginners and focused on stretches that help support desk/computer users. Highly recommend partnering with Up Dog Yoga!

Up Dog Yoga Community is truly a community in every way. This studio, it's owner, and it's teachers provide a comforting environment for people new or seasoned in yoga practice. The space is always clean, welcoming and full of people wanting to connect through yoga and beyond. I have been practicing yoga since 2008 and have moved around to many different cities and studios. The Up Dog community is the safest and most welcome I have ever felt in a studio. From the people who practice there, to the karma yogis, to the teachers who all have impeccable sequencing and music. I cannot suggest this space enough whether you are passing through or grounding down long term.

Disappointing "twilight yin" with Autumn. Marked as yin, but more of a glorified stretch. Poses were uninspired and did not target deep tissue, and there was loud music playing from the speakers throughout which was super distracting. Finally, despite checking in, which included a short tour from the person wt the desk, and finally leaving my disappointed comments via classpass, the studio marked me as missed so I had to take additional time to deal with recouping the missed class fee (hence two stars)

I had such an amazing time at UpDog! The vibes are immaculate with tea and coffee offered first thing, such a zen and warm aesthetic (exactly what you want from a yoga studio), and not to mention how knowledgeable the instructors are!! My instructor Carol was so informative about the poses and even gave out these super cute tarot cards that tell you your fortune! Absolutely lovely.

I recently had the pleasure of trying out a hot yoga class at this amazing studio and I cannot say enough positive things about it! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with smiles and positive energy. The studio itself was clean, bright, and inviting, with plenty of space to move around and get into the poses.
The hot yoga class was absolutely incredible - the heat was just right and the instructor was knowledgeable, supportive, and really helped me to deepen my practice. I left feeling so energized, refreshed, and centered.
What I loved most about this studio was the sense of community and support that was present throughout the entire experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind, and it was clear that this was a place where people come to connect, grow, and support one another in their yoga journey.
I would highly recommend this hot yoga studio to anyone looking for a positive, uplifting, and transformative yoga experience. Whether you are brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you will find something here that speaks to your body, mind, and spirit. Thank you for an amazing experience - I can't wait to come back!

Yasmeena’s morning class was lovely! Approachable for someone newer to yoga and she offered variations for people who were more comfortable and confident. Such a welcoming vibe! The studio is super friendly to all levels - instructors encourage students to improve and connect to their practice, while not taking things too seriously. I felt like I could make mistakes and it was fine because we're all at different parts of our yoga journey!! They offer a great range of classes from yin to quick lunch-break yoga to your more standard class. Cant wait to go back!

The studio was warm and welcoming on an early chilly DC morning. The owner was their to familiarize students to the facility and the instructor guided with ease. After flying in from the west coast and sitting in conferences all day Up Dog studio provided the mental and physical relief that was much needed.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Up Dog Yoga. It's a cozy space in the heart of Shaw. The Staff is extremely friendly and inviting and my Coach was Ana, who did a great job making everyone feel comfortable and present so we could work on our practice. I did Yoga a long time ago, but would consider myself a beginner and while the moves are uncomfortable I felt absolutely refreshed and centered upon leaving the studio. The music, lighting, air, space, coaching, and atmosphere were wonderful. I can't speak for well practiced Yogi's, but if you're thinking about trying Yoga, Up Dog is a great place to start your journey. I'll definitely be back

Good yoga studios are hard to find. But I’m grateful I gave Up Dog Yoga a chance at their grand opening today.
My top 3 favorite things about this studio:
1) The staff was genuinely welcoming
2) The shower facilities were clean and perfectly designed for someone like me who is always on the go.
3) The heated flow class was a great workout and the cooldown at the end left me feeling centered. Great instructor. Great playlist.
I will definitely be back!

Instantly felt a calm and welcoming energy as soon as I walked in. The instructors were amazing and not to mention the studio mascots “Oscar” and Penny” were way more enjoyable than most humans I’ve done Yoga with. I also loved how clean and tidy everything was, in addition to having the option to shower after my session b/c I’m always on-the-go. Can’t wait to go back!
