Wonderful boxing gym! I’m visiting from Miami, where I practice boxing every week, and found this place nearby the hotel. Communication with the managers via email was easy. The coach was very welcoming, and the CLASS WAS EXCELLENT, tougher than expected! Great atmosphere, with wraps available for purchase at a reasonable price and gloves to borrow if needed. The gym was very clean and well organized. We’ll keep coming during our visit!

The staff at this location are very friendly and knowledgeable. As a boxing practitioner of many years, I greatly appreciate the warm personalities and the expertise that is offered here. I highly recommend if you live on the West End of DC and need a place to work on your skills. The coaches here will get you cleaned up!

THE BEST
When I moved to DC I was desperately looking for a serious, professional boxing/kickboxing gym. I tried out a bunch of places in the area and was SO disappointed - most were just cardio fitness “boxe”, no technique, no actual boxing, nobody interested in teaching you anything.
At Urban Boxing you’ll find a fantastic, professional yet homie environment. People are motivated to grow and progress as fighters, teachers actually teach, they know what they are doing and take the time to help you improve. Classes have different levels, whether you are completely new to boxing or already quite advanced/used to sparring you’ll be in good hands!!
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!!

I can't understand how this place has a high rating. A few coaches are terribly rude, condescending, and will not change. Their "holier than thou" attitude was a complete joke...which is why I'll never come back.

Awesome gym, went there to learn how to box and the whole staff and everyone working out there was super nice. Really felt more like a community than just a gym. All the coaches there are awesome, but special shoutout to Josh and Mike. And to Crane for taking good care of the place.

I love the jiu jitsu and muay thai/kickboxing classes. Lots of good partners to spar/roll with from a range of skill levels, and Mike (both of them) is an amazing instructor. The boxing is also top notch as well, and the new wrestling class is super fun and informative.

I have trained at this gym since 2020! I will never stop recommending it. Boxing classes and the people are awesome. The BJJ team is amazing and my favorite is the new addition of WRESTLING! Gideon is one of the best coaches and he makes sure everyone understands the complex mechanics and rules of wrestling. I highly recommend trying any of the coaches classes (Arturo, Mike, Brandon, Josh, Agatha, Alison, Sula, Randolph, Germaine) . Specially, I encourage everyone that always wanted to try martial arts but never felt comfortable or safe to do it. This place is the best!

Unlike a lot of other boxing gyms, Urban Boxing has instructors who care about the sport and who each bring their own style to their classes. They are happy to teach you. And people are generally friendly. Overall Urban Boxing is a safe, effective, and friendly place to learn the sweetest science.

I brought my partner in for a free trial class and we were sold before we left! We didn’t even plan to purchase a membership because the holidays and travel were around the corner but it was a great time to start and really motivated me to get back into a fitness routine with their varying offerings from boxing to pilates to ab workouts. Super excited to stay with Urban Boxing long term!

I have attended many fitness classes throughout DC and this was my least favorite. I can't speak to the company culture, but I felt my specific instructor was sexist.
For the second portion of the class, all of the men were ushered over to the boxing ring where the instructor had them practicing skills and techniques and gave them his undivided attention. Meanwhile, us women were left on the floor to do "200 synchronized squats in a group" with our arms around one another.
At the end of class, the instructor pulled me aside and told me I should "attend a beginner class first". The class I had signed up for was advertised as all levels, which seemed to come as a shock to him. Instructors should know the class they're teaching. Being singled out was also unkind. As an athlete who has taken many boxing and non-boxing exercise classes, I would consider myself well-equipped to handle most workouts.
I found the entire experience unpleasant.

This place is awesome for a lot of reasons. As someone who has done several MMA gyms Urban positions itself perfectly. They have cardio classes for people who just want to learn how to throw a punch while getting in a good work out, to more complex footwork and combo's, all the way to sparring. It the world of MMA hobbyists Urban truly has something for everyone.
Lastly I'd like to say other gyms tend to have long term contracts that are quite a headache to cancel. Urban gives you a month to month contract and when I had to cancel it (due to changing jobs so going was no longer easy) I was expecting all kinds of hidden fees and stuff gyms normally do but there was NONE OF THIS.
Dealing with Urban was awesome from start to finish and if your considering an MMA gym or boxing its a fantastic place to start.

In town from the Bronx for a quick stay to set up my daughter in her new apartment. No way I was not making time to drop in to UB for a workout at this special gym. High energy, friendly trainers and the members are very cool people. The boxing equipment is well-kept and the facility is super clean with a very positive vibe. Any time I’m in DC I make a point of coming here for a great workout. Definitely drop-in friendly. Highly recommended for all levels.

This review was a long time coming! Earlier this month I visited Urban Boxing DC while on a business trip in town. I was staying over at the Fairmont, which is literally a block and a half away from this place, along with a bunch of other convenient hotels downtown. I’ve been training muay thai for about 10 years, and have reached an age where the gas tank isn’t as full as it used to be, and it takes me longer than I want to admit to heal up from normal training injuries. That is to say, I live in both the “too old to deal with egos” world and the “been around long enough to appreciate a great gym” world. That said, here’s my review of Urban Boxing DC:
1) Convenience: Incredibly convenient if you’re staying near foggy bottom. The gym has a really convenient schedule of classes that range from beginner cardio classes to moderate/hard sparring classes, all peppered throughout the week. If you’re strictly aiming to go the nak muay route, the boxing classes may not be your jam. But otherwise, it’s fantastic. 4.5/5
2) Customer Service: I can’t say enough about how impressed I am by the customer service of this place; a perfect score doesn’t do it justice. Before I came into town, I called the gym and asked about options to train just for the week I was there. The guy who runs the place picked up and asked me a few questions about my experience and what I was looking for. He said they have folks come from out of town often, and keep spare gloves and shinpads available to folks who drop in. All you need to bring are your own wraps, and even those you can just buy there. They have a 5-day pass which was reasonably priced, and you could take as many classes as you want in a day.
In my case, I only was able to actually train for 3 of the 5 days, due to my meetings schedule. When I shared this with the gym’s owner, he was like “dude, I’ll cut you a deal” and I got a 3-day pass plus a 1-on-1 coaching session with their muay thai coach. I was floored by how flexible and accommodating he was. Easily 5/5.
3) Training Quality: Starting with the disclaimer that training quality is, to some extent subjective, I was overall pleased with my experience. The beginners’ classes don’t have you working with each other, but rather doing almost entirely heavy bag work, repeating combos and doing calisthenics between “rounds”. If you’re looking for a workout, it’s amazing. If you’re looking for a chance to get padwork in, not so much.
The advanced class was a lot more engaging. I did the Level 2 kickboxing class and it was well paced work in pairs throwing combo for combo, before ending with free sparring rounds. The folks in the class were polite, and the free sparring was controlled.
What I really enjoyed though was my 1-on-1 with Christian Brown, the muay thai coach they have on staff. Christian trains in Thailand and had a TON of insight to share. Where I’m a muay khao fighter, I often struggle with zone 2 forward pressure, especially in a kickboxing ruleset where you can’t clinch or use elbows. Christian had me working on long knees combined with really clever hand traps that I’d not seen before, and it’s proved effective in my sparring since. Overall, I’d give this a 4.5/5.
And that’s my review! The community in the gym is fantastic, and I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting DC, or anyone living in Foggy Bottom who’s looking for a great local gym to workout and train in.

I came to DC on vacation and I needed a place to burn off this vacation food. I looked up boxing gyms in this area and I picked Urban Boxing just based off their website. This gym is a standout. I've been attending Urban Boxing Foggy Bottom for 5 months. As a decade-long distance runner, I was looking to add some strength and agility, and frankly a bit of self-defense, to my training. This gym - from its business model (recurring monthly fee: attend as many classes as you want and/or engage in your own workouts independently) to its coaches to its community - has far exceeded my expectations.
For context, I've stuck with Boxing, although UBFB also offers Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai workouts. The coaches and classes each have different styles, allowing you to blend cardio, strength, HIIT, technique, and both offensive and defensive tactics into your workout routine. The team (I've primarily worked with Crane, Josh, Arturo, Christian, & Kelly) are top notch, somehow managing the culture of a group class while offering individual recommendations and feedback on form. The other gym members are welcoming & encouraging, often giving thoughtful advice during partner work.
In terms of leveling: I'd learned basic boxing fundamentals 10+ years ago but hadn't picked up a pair of gloves since. You can absolutely start at ground zero, and every class gives you an opportunity to improve different aspects of your game, while subtly incorporating the rounds + rest style of a real match. UBFB offers intro level up through sparring.
Can't speak highly enough of this crew. Stop on in for a free class. You won't regret it.

My favorite boxing gym in the DMV! I'm still pretty new to DC and was initially hesitant about signing up, but when I walked in for the first time, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Also, the overall client/customer base seems to consist of nearby working professionals and college students who are also friendly. So you won't feel intimidated joining any of the classes.
Regarding the instructors, they are all very patient and professional with impressive martial arts backgrounds. In particular, I've been taking personal training sessions with Coach Kelly McGrath for a few weeks and I noticed significant improvements in my boxing skills and cardiovascular endurance. Coach Kelly is a very knowledgeable boxing expert and a five-time Australian champion, but also one of the funniest and most positive people I've ever met. Overall 5/5 place!

I had this gym saved on Google maps for months before signing up. I’m so glad I did. The environment is welcoming, the vibe is immaculate and the instructors are patient, approachable and really know their stuff. It’s a place for a workout, yes, but you also learn boxing skills (which I felt was missing at other gyms I tried.) The community is also supportive here and laid back- makes it fun to work out.

Urban boxing is without a doubt one of the best combat fitness experiences I've ever participated in my over 30 years of working out from martial arts dojos to fitness centers. First, the membership (roughly between $40 to $50 a week) provides all-you-can-eat membership access to all classes at all four of their locations. Second, the ownership does not lock people into oppressive 6 month or one year contracts, and will freeze or cancel a membership if asked. Urban boxing has so much faith in their product (namely their classes and environment) that they don't need to lock people into contracts to keep their members, and that says a lot about the quality of the experience.
The gyms are well kept, clean, and functional, maintained with friendly staff and members who are more than happy to assist first time class attendees with anything from wrapping their hands to showing them the membership options upon completing the first complimentary free class which gives prospective members the opportunity to try a class before committing.
Moving onto the staff, they really are the best reason to go to Urban Boxing. The staff are almost all either former professional or in some cases current professional or amateur fighters with years and sometimes decades of experience. They all bring a unique wealth of experience and expertise to the classes and each class is different and varied, which prevents boredom while not allowing your body to acclimate to a mundane routine workout over and over unlike some other fitness gyms such as title boxing.
The members are the second best reason to go to Urban boxing. You have an eclectic mix of fitness-focused members who are just interested in classes, to actual professional fighters focusing on their next bouts. It's not uncommon to see members of local university boxing clubs working out alongside significantly older members with a level of camaraderie and teamwork that would rival any sports club I've ever been a part of.
The variety of classes is also excellent, you have two levels of boxing focusing on either bag work to member drills and mitt work along with an all levels boxing class for cardio and integration of fundamental concepts. You have kickboxing and Muay Thai classes, as well as both an introduction to sparring and intermediate sparring classes that are excellently overseen by the instructors ensuring safety is maintained. If you've ever wanted to have the experience of stepping in the ring against an opponent Urban boxing easily provides one of the best and most successful glide paths to make that aspiration a reality.
Urban boxing also participates and helps members participate in a wide variety of events in the DC area. Whether it's helping members secure amateur bouts to being a training gym for multiple fighters in the Haymakers for Hope charity events, they are committed and dedicated to meeting all their members combat sports needs. They also have a limited shop selling mouth guard, wraps, and boxing gloves on site in case you forget anything.
Urban boxing is the best combat fitness experience in DC, hands down, and you definitely should take the opportunity to try it out.

Wonderful gym. I'm from Berlin and had a great time there when I was as living in D.C.
It's a great place to work on your physique and condition. There are also great coaches that will help you if you are more ambitious and would like to work on your technique and maybe even fight. I still go back whenever I'm back in town and it's always a pleasure! Thanks guys for being so welcoming every time!

I'd like to take a moment & thank the wonderful people at Urban Boxing. Starting with Mr. Crane & his entire team. From the 1st day I joined the boxing gym, they welcomed me in. They truly have a family environment. Not only that, its true hard work & dedication. They live it & breath it here!! Going on 5 months in September & I still love it just as much as the 1st day. All the trainers are badass too!! Great men, that are driven, focused & truly love what they do!! They teach you, are truly patient with you and encourage/inspire you along the way!! Nothing but greatness ahead for each of them. Urban Boxing has changed my life in ways that are unspeakable. Eternally Grateful. 100% Highly recommended!! 10/10

got a membership for the summer while I was interning in DC and I had such an awesome experience—the space, the classes, the instructors (I mostly went to Jordan, Mike, and Iffy’s classes) are all such a great vibe. If you’re new to boxing I’d recommend going to the more intro-level classes first to get familiar with the terms & techniques, especially for kickboxing (weds with Iffy)!

Urban Boxing is the best! I started going there daily this past year and felt significant improvement in my cardio, strength and balance. Every coach has a unique teaching style and every class offers something different. You will get a great workout whichever class you choose. The coaches will encourage you and push you to your limit. You may feel exhausted at the end of a class, but you will see the result!

What a great gym! Crane gave me a warm welcome and all the coaches I worked with - Josh, Charles, Arturo and Jordan really knew their stuff (Arturo has the best taste in music though!). I came for the boxing - which was really good, and then started on kickboxing too... Thank you! I learnt a lot and can't recommend it highly enough... I hope to be back one day soon!

When my 14 yo son said to me “mom, I want to try boxing” I thought: “great! But how on earth do I get into the boxing world not knowing anything , and, it’s it going to be an ok place for a kid?” UB was incredible, they walked him through the into process, treated him like a kid with kindness but also as a serious athlete. They are patient, kind, and approachable. Christian and Josh in particular, are spectacular trainers and really great people. Crane is at the desk and is informed, kind, and a super friendly presence to greet you. My son is certainly challenged, and leaves the place feeling so great about himself every time:like going to church! We love UB and will continue to train there as long as we can!

I have spent the past 4 months going to URBAN boxing in DC to train both one on one and through their group classes. My body has transformed. I went from 180lbs to 165lbs, feel stronger than ever, all while having fun. Wether you want more stamina, get in shape, loose weight, etc etc, URBAN boxing is an excellent choice with excellent coaches. If you are on the fence, trust me and just come in for one class. I cannot more recommend Krane and his team of coaches. Joshua, Jordan and Randal are my three favorite coaches for different reasons. and depending on the type of workout you want what's awesome is that they each have their own style. Joshua is technical the most sound, he is a traditional boxer and focuses on getting it done right while building up your core. there are no two same workouts with joshua. I also recommend his 1:1. Jordan gets you sweating in no time with a brutally good mix of HIIT and boxing. Randal on the weekends reaches you different styles of boxing, with different stands and brings a fun atmosphere where everyone participates or else push ups for everyone. LOVE IT! Krane the manager is himself a gym nut and will help you with anything you need. The gym is super clean, people all have masks and I feel super safe going. Will you be sore after workouts? YES, but its functionally sore. I actually look forward to being sore, I know its crazy but true. Look no further if you want a diverse group of folks working out from all ages, background and styles. So many classes are available, boxing, kickboxing, abs, etc etc. Come check it out. Highly recommended!!! Don't worry if you know how to box or not, no matter your level, you will get a workout in and progress no matter your goals.

I love this gym. I joined with zero boxing experience and have always found the coaches to be encouraging, enthusiastic, and very knowledgable about the sport. The classes are tough workouts, but I'm definitely in better shape now than I was when I started. The coaches do a great job getting around to everyone to offer more personalized instruction and pay a lot of attention to technique.
As a woman, it's a bit nerve-racking to jump into a male-dominated sport, but I've always felt super comfortable and uplifted by coaches, staff, and other students at Urban Boxing. The classes are a good mix of genders, too. If it's your first time taking a boxing class, make sure you sign up for one of the introductory levels. It's a fun, supportive gym and a great workout! Definitely recommend.

I have been an Urban member for over 2 years and this has been hands-down the best gym in the DMV area. The repertoire of classes offered by the gym has been amazing -Boxing Level 1 and higher, Kickboxing Level 1 and higher, BJJ, strength and conditioning, yoga, and many more. The best part of an urban experience has been the world-class trainers and the pride they take in their craft. I highly recommend this gym if you're in the DMV area. I have boxed in plenty of gyms in Europe and the US, and no one gets close to this one.
The coaches are professional fighters that do not only excel in the ring, they also know how to teach what they know to their students.
I have been enrolled a little over 3 months, and one of the reasons I decided to enroll here was how safe they make me feel with their covid measures. The process starts by booking the class online prior to showing up, which tells you the attendance for the day. Once you are in the facility, you see management, coaches and clients doing their duties by desinfecting the equipment they just used.
If you are in the DC area, this is your best optiom without a doubt!

Can't recommend Urban Boxing enough!
--- Fun and intense workouts -- good for boxers of all skill levels
--- Engaging and friendly instructors with unique coaching styles
--- Respectful management that puts members first
I joined Urban Boxing a year ago just before the pandemic hit. I only made it to a handful of classes before everything locked down, but in that time I was impressed by the variety of classes offered (experience levels and styles), as well as the diversity of its clientele.
The gym has done a fantastic job at adapting to the challenges brought on by COVID, all while keeping member experience a top priority. When in-person classes were suspended, virtual classes were introduced (and continue to be offered for members who do not feel comfortable attending in-person classes yet). Since reopening for in-person classes, safety protocols have been clearly communicated and are actually enforced (increased cleaning, taking temperatures, requiring masks at all times, reducing class sizes, etc). When I had concerns about class capacity and the online booking process, the staff was receptive to my feedback and took steps to make improvements. I've personally witnessed how the gym is committed to member safety and satisfaction.
100% recommend Urban Boxing to anyone looking for a high-quality boxing gym!

I have been a member of urban boxing for 3 months now. My experience has exceeded all expectations I had when I first joined. I was a bit nervous to start boxing as I am a beginner and female, so was a bit unsure of what kind of environment I'd be walking into. The staff welcomed me with open arms. The trainers were not intimidating and worked with me at my own pace. I can tell the staff genuinely cares about me as a person not just my workout experience. I never thought I would be this comfortable in a public gym workout environment as I have always been a bit shy. My boxing skills get better every class and I've been able to make friends easily. 10/10 experience. The gym is also extremely clean especially for covid times.

After going to Urban Boxing 4 times a week for a whole year, I can confidently say that I made the most of the membership. Having the ability to make friends of all kinds while boxing was an unexpected benefit and made going to the gym an overall better experience. Both Arturo and Jeremy (two of the boxing instructors) were incredible; not only did they teach me boxing, they personalized certain techniques and drills to make my fighting style personal to me. By the end of year, I viewed them more as friends than coaches.
Not only do I feel better and overall happier but now I have a new found appreciation and interest for fighting sports. Sadly, I have moved for university but hopefully during the Winter and Summer breaks I will try to renew my membership.

I’ve been a member of Urban Boxing (UB) for about two years now, and I can say I’ve never been disappointed in a single class I attended. Always left each one a better fighter and in better shape than when I entered. Every coach is awesome in their own special way and have their own unique teaching style.
Just took Ariel’s kickboxing class, and I can assure you I will be signing up for more. I had only ever taken the boxing classes at UB and never kickboxed before, but with a little personalized instruction Ariel had me throwing powerful right and left (switch) kicks with proper form in the first few minutes of class. Felt great and I even surprised myself!
Ariel’s class was the perfect mix of technical instruction, punch/kick combinations, and high intensity cardio. I also loved the warmup ladder work in the beginning for ankle strengthening and agility training.

I honestly don't know how they have so many positive reviews. I came in because I was focused on losing weight and after running a few laps I was winded and laughed at by one of the coaches. I also couldn't get the material as fast as everyone else and was chastised and embarrassed in front of the class for it. Fortunately I found another gym and am much happier. Thankfully I didn't let Urban Boxing ruin boxing for me. PLEASE save your money.

Hey folks
This review is intended to highlight the great job that everyone at Urban Boxing Bethesda do. I very proud member of this club.
After 2 years of being a member of Urban Boxing, Bethesda, I can share with all of you (in the most honest way) that this is by far the best Boxing Club I have belong to ( before Urban Boxing, I tried 3 clubs more; 2 in Washington and 1 in the middle east)
Big shout-out to all the staff (specially Gabi, Randolph, Loic, Zula, Joel, Jordan, Arturo, Ricky) Not only are the instructors extremely inviting and friendly, they are all from different backgrounds and highly knowledgeable.
Urban Boxing have perfected the feeling of an amazing boxing community, where Literally EVERYONE I’ve seen that puts on a pair of gloves for the first time has fun. Also they keep me updated in all the boxing fights around the Metropolitan Area.
Only in Urban Boxing, I have enjoyed to learn the challenges that Boxing, as sport, present. The coaches have thought me that my training is not only physically but also mentally. Boxing requires, strength, power, speed, endurance, reflexes, intelligence, and heart.
I would like to mention that their facilities are well laid out and very clean. I would like to recommend to management fixing the Treadmill; It's been broken for a while ;)
In general I think that this Boxing Club is for everyone that enjoys the sport and working-out! You can get a perfect fitness in Urban Boxing while learning about this ancient sport.
Cheers!

The best boxing gym in DC! I’m so loyal that even though I moved across town I still go to this place, even though there are boxing gyms closer to me. I love that while yes, Urban Boxing gives me a KILLER workout that's a mixture of cardio and strength, I’m learning actual technique from real professionals. I’ve dabbled with other boxing gyms in New York and DC and was disappointed with the fact that most of them either had inadequate instructors who were aerobics instructors in disguise or the gyms themselves focused too much on aesthetic (sparkly bags or pretty lights) - Urban Boxing has none of that and I couldn’t love them more for it. This place doesn’t have frills, but they don’t mess around. They’ll work you into the ground and that’s why we keep coming back!

The trainers are fantastic, the workouts are killer, and the club is very welcoming! My husband and I were visiting DC for a week, and the owner Lui was very kind to give us a week long pass. We took three of Arturo's classes (boxing conditioning and boxing level 1) and they were challenging but so much fun! I like that the conditioning class included some boxing and wasn't just crunches and push-ups. I also liked the partner work during the boxing class. I learned a lot more about how to move when facing an opponent than I would when just hitting the heavy bag. Arturo is also so interactive and fun that it makes the class go by fast. I've seen him do the salsa and break dance in the middle of a set of burpees. I just had to laugh! After each class, I was so pumped and ready to face the day. I'm bummed that I didn't get to try other classes. I heard Nathan teaches a great boxing 2 class with lots of partner work. If you're looking for a fun but challenging workout, I highly recommend checking out Urban Boxing DC! If we lived in DC, we would definitely belong to this boxing club.

Nice staff, great workout!! My first time going I was nervous because I did not know much about boxing but the trainers and staff there made me feel very comfortable and the workouts very effective! I swear I had a 6-pack like the next day 😄 I love it, you can go to any class at any time with the membership and it helps to relieve stress.

This is an amazing gym full of serious, committed and friendly instructors and equally serious, committed and friendly members. Workouts are intense and I could quickly improve both my conditioning and technique. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere inside the gym is amazing. The workouts are great! It is a great place for those who want to combine physical fitness training with boxing and other martial arts. I like the fact that we workout as a group. We all push each other to do our best. You can also sign up for free workouts with a private instructor for free.

It's ok. It's pretty crowded after work. The classes are a great workout. The teachers are hit-or-miss; Nathan is great and if I had decided to continue classes it would have exclusively been to take his. He's young but has a lot of experience and gives good feedback. If you want to improve your technique take his classes. But overall the class sizes were too big for me and the space was too crowded to enjoy myself.

I came from out of town and asked if I could train a couple of days... incredibly friendly staff. Lots of equipment and space to punch yourself to exhaustion. The trainners also definitely know what they are doing. Overal great experience and will definitely come back in my next trip to DC. Thanks guys!

I've been wanting about write a review for a while but I am a firm believer in trying something for a few weeks/months first before you endorse or reject it. My initial feeling still remains and I have continued to thoroughly enjoy my decision to join here.
Environment:
First off, as a former division 1 collegiate athlete, it has been awesome to get back into an environment that is competitive, collaborative, and makes you feel like you're an athlete training, not just working out. It's easy to assume that once your athletic career is done, you don't need to train hard or even have the opportunity to do so. Getting in this environment keeps you sharp, especially on days that you might give a half-effort in the gym on your own. You also tend grow with the class and it will challenge you on different levels each time you get in.
If you're like me it is easy to do get through a regular weight or cardio workout without being mentally invested. These hour-long classes require your full focus, mentally and physically, which really puts you in the zone and makes the workout much more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Staff & Facility:
The staff is awesome. While they are all very knowledgable and very helpful instructors who all clearly practice what they preach, each brings their own unique flavor and perspective. I've intentionally attended classes with 5 different instructors, and they've all provided me with a class that was hard but one that I also learned a lot in. The facility is also very well taken care of and kept clean, which is really important anytime you're getting on mats.
Value:
Lastly, and most importantly, I feel like I am getting what I paid for and have kick-ass workouts every time. It's not cheap, but if you're looking for cheap then you should reconsider what kind of training you are looking for and where you are looking. I had always stuck to the standard low-cost Golds Gym option, but feel that it is totally worth it and something I look forward to every day that I go. That service is how you win customers!! Great job guys.

I love how friendly the staff all is. The members are also very energized and excited to be there. It's truly a family. Great work out, I'm a beginner. The encouragement from the instructor to the environment is all top notch. If you're in DC you have to at least attend one class! You will probably fall in love like I did. Best decision made while in DC hands down.

This is a great environment for beginners to learn boxing and work out. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. The staff works well with you and guides you through the training. The managers are very approachable and help you with any problems you may have. I would recommend this to everyone who likes a good work out and wants to learn the techniques of boxing.

Joining Urban Boxing is probably the easiest decision I've ever made. The gym offers all kinds of combat classes for various levels, working on strength, endurance, agility all at the same time. Each instructor has a different style of teaching, but they all are extremely professional and experienced, which, I have to point out, is not intimidating or emasculating at all because the instructors and the participants are a bunch of friendly, encouraging people. My experience here is truly rewarding. I'm challenged both physically and mentally each class while having a blast and feeling energized, motivated, and alive. More importantly, the gym provides a welcoming community that makes DC like home. And the bonus of being a member is that the gym improves one's confidence and social status. I, for one, somehow takes on the bodyguard position for my friends because they feel safe to walk with me at night.

Urban boxing is my home away from home. Equipped with new management and the best trainers in DC it's a great place to get in shape and stay in shape. It used to be UFC but the new management have included a new selection of classes that are just awesome! Jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, more boxing classes at every level!

Was a member back when it was UFC Gym (for boxing mostly), signed up again because I had a great experience then and the trainers are largely the same. Great for beginners that want to get to know the basics or get a pretty intense workout, and also for intermediates and above that want to keep improving and learn/practice more advanced techniques. Also, clean and well maintained facilities. A lot of boxing gyms can get pretty rank, but I guess they have good ventilation or something.
Whether you want to get a fairly intense workout or learn self-defense, highly recommended.
