Online, their AI told me - on 3 different days, no less as I was double checking my memory - that day passes were $29.

I called ahead, and, after they didn’t pick up the first time, explained I was coming in for a day pass and wanted to make sure they had the seated shoulder lat raise machine and was told they did.

Got there, had a little wait to get set up to tour the facility to make sure the machines were right for my disability, was then told day passes are actually $45 + tax, and then finally found out they don’t even have a lat raise machine. Total waste of my time.

I had my valuables stolen right off the gym floor (gym bag, phone, wallet, keys, etc) because a staff member gave them to someone else and didn’t verify anything before letting that person walk out the door. For that obvious reason I can’t recommend that you give this establishment at least one hundred and fifty dollars a month to be a member here.

I recovered my things outside of the gym immediately after having them stolen. The management staff here knows exactly who stole my valuables and that person is a regular member here. After getting branch management involved, I was told that the chain manager would get in touch with me to talk through this very serious event. In the ~month since this has happened, no one from chain management has contacted me nor has any of the management staff here given me an update about this situation.

VIDA management on multiple levels have had infinite opportunities to not only resolve this situation, but let a long time member know about what, if anything, is being done. The member who stole my valuables still attends this facility and no action has been taken.

So, either:

1) Multiple levels of management have decided to sweep this under the rug in hopes that I would forget

Or

2) Have decided to let someone who they have not only seen, but recorded on video steal the valuables of another member, and have chosen not to do anything about it.

I was hoping that I could keep this between myself and VIDA management, but after more than a month of this situation not being resolved, and not being given any update on the status of the member who stole my valuables, I have no other choice than to post this publicly so that people who are either thinking of becoming members, or are current members, know that VIDA will not only tolerate theft, but will allow the person responsible to continually use this facility.

This is unacceptable and I’m sure that any reputable establishment who is aware of theft happening on its premises would at minimum restrict and ban the person responsible. VIDA management have chosen to allow theft to occur at this location. Stay away and give your hard earned dollars to an establishment that respects you enough to have a zero tolerance policy for theft.

Edit after the response from management below my original review: Unreal. How is a turnstile supposed to stop someone who is a member at this location from walking out with someone else's belongings? You're effectively passing the blame for this on to me for assuming that my stuff won't be touched in a $150/month facility, when you have video recordings and multiple verbal accounts informing you of exactly who committed theft at your location? How do you explain an "internal investigation" taking more than a month for a simple incident of theft? You want me to "keep working" with the branch management when they have not once offered any kind of update on this situation or even provided a formal apology at bare minimum? Absolute joke.

For what you pay this branch is the worst in the chain. They ripped out the pools leaving the wet area a permanent construction zone and the sauna and steam room often go down. Towel service is iffy. If you want to shower before work, don’t count on it.

It is nice but for $160 a month you'd expect nicer. No pool or basketball courts etc. Equipment can stay broken for a while. If you like the pelotons you can expect around half of them to be broken at any time. Employees are nice though and the class selection is pretty decent; it's just the cost that makes me think otherwise about recommending it to others.

🚨 **ALERT: Life-Threatening Experience at Vida Fitness** 🚨

Five years ago, I endured a horrifying assault by a Vida Fitness employee while he was cleaning the pool. After his shift, he followed me outside, threw me to the ground, and threatened to stab me in the face—an act that could have been murder—in front of witnesses near number 9. He was furious because some guys were messing around in the steam room, and he wanted to get off early, rushing out before the gym was technically closed. He already had a bad attitude, trying to throw others out as well.

All the owners had to do was admit that he made a grave mistake, acknowledge this was an appalling moment for him, and issue an apology along with some form of restitution. Instead, they chose to play legal games. It baffles me how people fail to understand that we no longer operate within a reliable legal system, especially with the current political climate. However, we have something far more powerful: the Internet. This truly happened, and it could happen to you, so please, be very careful.

Despite numerous attempts to contact the owner and senior management, they showed complete disregard for my situation. Reaching someone supportive in their legal department is nearly impossible, and taking on a company this large is daunting, especially without huge financial resources.

I’m sharing my story on social media to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Aside from this incident, the gym itself is great, and the community is wonderful. But **Vida Fitness = The Devil** for this unresolved reason. Think twice before joining! Your safety is at risk! #VidaFitness #SafetyFirst #ProtectYourself #ExposeTheTruth

I will continue to open up discussions on multiple platforms and forums… To get the conversation going on how large companies shouldn’t physically allow employees on the clock to abuse people and take no accountability unless someone has huge financial resources to take them to court. #Cover-up #DogEatDog.

Yes, this really happened to me so that makes more sense. What you just provided but your initial messages made me feel guilty and we’re shaming me and I was being 100% honest with you. That’s not right it makes you almost as bad as the people who hurt me.

I travel a lot across the world and will often pay for a day pass to train at a gym. Today I walked 15 minutes from the hotel to this location only to be met by unhelpful staff that insisted I had my passport ID to train there. I explained that I could leave my bank card or phone but they said they couldn't do that. I ended up walking out as couldn't be asked to walk all the way back and forth to get my ID and also I would feel uncomfortable leaving my passport when I'm travelling this week. What a missed opportunity to earn a day pass by turning business away. If I was a local I'm not sure I'd want to join a place where they revert to computer says no.

I had a very disappointing experience with the morning front desk staff at this gym. They were rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to accommodate a simple request.

A couple of days ago, I tried the gym on a free day pass. The afternoon staff was friendly, explained everything well, and encouraged me to return the next morning to sign up when the membership advisor was available. Based on this positive interaction, I decided to join.

This morning at 9 AM, I arrived ready to sign up and work out before heading to work. However, the membership advisor wasn’t there yet—he was scheduled to arrive at 10:30 AM. The morning front desk staff, Bryan and Jude (if those are even their real names), refused to let me in, insisting I could not enter the gym until I had officially signed up. I couldnt sign up because the membership advisor arrives at 10:30. I explained that I had already decided to join and simply wanted to complete my workout first, then finalize my membership before leaving. I even showed them the card of the sales advisor, Larry, who had told me to come back.

Despite my reasonable request, they were rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help. They claimed no non-members were allowed to enter, even though they do allow free trial visits. Their lack of flexibility was frustrating, especially given that I was fully intending to become a paying member.

Ultimately, their attitude and refusal to accommodate a simple time-frame issue left a very bad impression. For the price this gym charges, I expected a friendlier and more customer-oriented staff. Based on this experience, I strongly advise against signing up at this location.

I have been going here for years and since the I’ve joined other gyms and have had amazing experiences. This gym’s spa features are like the McDonald’s ice cream machine. Broken more often than it works. I’ve been to Lifetime, OneLife, Equinox and I can’t even remember the last time their saunas or steam rooms were broken.

It’s 4 weeks into the new year and the steam room has been broken since December.

Very conveniently located, but unfortunately management takes advantage and does not properly maintain the gym. Equipment, water fountains, the sauna and steam room, and other amenities are constantly broken with a promise that the appropriate people have been notified. Of course, no refund or adjustment is offered to the (very expensive) membership fee.

Management - let’s pre-empt your reply. Spend some money to properly maintain the gym and it would be great. Don’t send me. BS, “oh please reach out to us so we can see what to do” message. It’s in the review, do it.

New members, hold out for something better. We deserve it.

I’ve been coming to this gym for about 2.5 years now. It’s okay. Fairly over priced - it’s a pretty average gym at fancy prices.

Staff is generally okay, some are fairly stand offish, others are pretty nice. Equipment is fine, what you would expect at a Golds gym for example. Also, as others have noted, there is often something broken from the water fountain to sauna.

Off all the gyms I’ve been a member of this would rank the lowest but it gets the job done.

***Update***
Removed another star and left them with one. To show you how maintenance work at this facility, the water fountain now been broken for 2 months. They updated the out of service paper with date posted on 11/27 which is misleading because the previous one was from October. Uploaded both pages for the record. While it’s not a very high impact but all Pelton bikes running at 30% efficiency since joining.
—————————-
Been coming here for almost a year now… it so sad that we don’t have any other options in the area. The quality of the gym is aligned with Gold’s gym so if there’s one near you, opt to go to Gold’s and save your dollars. Not well maintained, they simply don’t care!

- Pelton bikes always broken… ALWAYS! Only 1 operates 90% normal.
- No towels! either dryer or washer breaks down often, doesn’t get fixed promptly
-Steam room often under “maintenance”.
- water fountain been broken for a month with a sign that it will be fixed by 10/24 and today is 11/16 and still not fixed.

I guarantee you if Gold’s plan on opening a gym close by, 50-75% of the members will switch!!!

It’s a solid gym. Not giving it 4 stars because I’ve been to better kept places. Some equipment and water fountains remain to be “serviced” for over a month. During its rush hour good luck finding a machine or prepare for a long wait time. Will still be a member regardless

A hidden gem — must visit to see how cool the building is and you’ll stay for the environment. It starts at the ground floor and goes down three floors, the furthest down is a peaceful steam room with an accompanying ice bath, a sauna and lockers above, walking out of there the main lifting area and above that a balcony to work abs yoga running. Somehow also there’s a level in between with yoga classes etc. so amazing. Victor walked me around and got me signed up (thanks!) and Michaela the GM creates such a welcoming and motivating environment. Lastly, Yin Yoga with Alisha on Sunday nights has improved my health and wellbeing in ways I can’t even begin to describe. Thank you Vida Logan Circle!

RITZ PRICES, GOLD'S GYM SERVICE!

TERRIBLE service at the Metropole location is disappointing, considering how expensive this place is:

*No hot water for two weeks! No showers, sinks, etc.
*No NOTICE of hot water--no sign at the door, no email informing customers. (And seriously, if the mgmt's response to this post is that I should proactively log into their app every day to see if a functioning gym awaits me...nope.)
*How do folks shower and go to work from here?
*Keep in mind, no hot water means the towels are not actually cleaned, nor are the machines serving smoothies of food.
*No response from staff about multiple inquiries about lack of hot water.
*On third attempt to get answers, the staff gave me an email for management, rather than have the mgmt contact me.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SUCH POOR SERVICE!

Comprehensive gyms in the VIDA line, with great amenities, services and discounts even for the base membership level. The lap pools may be unique among DC gyms. Health, safety, and security are paramount here, and the cleaning staff do a great job. Instructors, trainers and staff are all very helpful, skilled and welcoming. The saunas and steam rooms are a great perk. Towels, smoothies, a selection of branded exercise clothing for sale, and an attached spa and salon make these destination gyms. With so many VIDA locations across the area, it maximizes your ability to work out (or at least invalidates your excuses!). Would love to see one in the Tenleytown/Friendship Heights or Van Ness area but for now, happy to use the existing facilities. Highly recommend.

Although Vida Logan Circle is mostly underground, it has been a great gym to work out at. People who come here are serious about their workout. They're less here for the decor or the people watching, and more because they really want a good place to workout, with good instructors that teach classes with quality content that is challenging but not overwhelming. Maybe because it is a bit of a smaller location, one often sees the same people in class and that becomes your class communities. In a transient city like DC, where people often live far from their families, for my gym besties and I, Vida is our fitness home and community, where we've been going and meeting together for years. We're the kind of people who enjoy working out, enjoy working out even better with our friends, and develop strong friendships from our love of fitness.

Fitness Club > Gym Membership. VIDA has phenomenal gym equipment for sure, but what takes it the extra mile is the community and amenities it offers. I was a member of VIDA Fitness for a year and I really enjoyed my experience. The facility is amazing for the price. Lockers rooms / showers were modern, very clean, and had everything I wanted and more. Multiple group workout rooms and great instructors. Two endless swimming pools and a great steam room. Machines were well kept and they were constantly bringing in new equipment. The only reason I left was because I moved from DC.

I only have two complaints:

The first is that they offer a lot of great classes, but some of the classes I wanted to try were only the "small group" classes and charged an extra fee. I really wanted to do a boxing class, but they only offered a free "large" group class every once in a while.

My other (and larger) complaint would be the personal training. In an effort to rename the initial membership fee, the gym lets you pick a "perk" when you start. This could be a set of those "small group" classes or a massage or three personal training sessions. I chose the personal training sessions. However, when I arrived for my first session, my trainer wasn't there. I waited for nearly an hour and the other trainers just stared at me sitting there waiting. Nobody gave me any updates when I asked where my trainer was. Finally after an hour I had to walk into the staff only area and just inform them that I was done waiting. The lead trainer just shrugged at me. After this incident I didn't receive a single email saying sorry or asking about my experience. When I did finally have my first training session, it was basically just a hard sell for me to buy a "personal training package" which would have been double my gym membership fees. I never ended up using my other personal training sessions.

Great gym and great facility. Just don't expect much on the personal training side.

Welcome to dear Vida! Security cameras in men's locker rooms - the gay owner must have fun fun fun. Your private info could be out on social media - a congressman's causes a sensation on FB. Good luck when cancelling your membership - you quit, they won't. Vida Love$ you!

1. my lock was cut and locker broken into during peak hours at U street location. lost all my cash and the management didn't do a thing, except giving me 3 coupons for smoothies. seriously?!
2. the personal trainer I had unilaterally decide to not complete all our sessions despite my effort to chase him to finish. then VIDA refused to refund me the money, even though no service provided.
I've been a member since 2013. This gym is deteriorating like a meteor.

The staff are poorly trained/paid (Like the front desk, they make minimum wage while multi-tasking barista: the "managers" are amateur, they're actually personal trainers), so they treat you, the paying customers, badly accordingly - even bully/harass you. Sounds like sabotaging? Yes, Vida just folded Chinatown location.

Great local gym with a wide variety of fitness equipment and classes. Definitely the best gym in the city.

If you’re looking for a great gym and relationship with an excellent personal trainer, I have great news. Gabriel Philp is your guy at The Logan Circle location of VIDA. I’ve been very impressed with his willingness to listen to my goals and distinct, sometimes very subtle, adjustments he helps me with. Not sure what your goals are, clearly you’re reading a google review for gyms so you’re somewhat interested in fitness, so sign up and train with Gabe. He’s awesome and the gym is great. You won’t regret it.

All their elliptical machines need replacement, been malfunctioning for over a year. Management has failed to deliver despite mutliple complains. Perfect location but not worth the money.

Clean gym with relatively good equipment. The monthly dues are on the high end but you get what you pay for in this case.

Great gym, good experience with friendly staff. Until they fix the wifi/data dead zone its a miserable experience. For $100+ per month you should be able to stream sirius, pandora, or even a podcast. Figure that out and it's 4/5.

Great group classes. Clean, functional equipment. Sparse regarding staff, but adequate. Avoid 5-8P if you dislike crowds. Membership a bit pricey, but overall worth the price. This specific location is a bit dark (gym is located below grade) but overall nice.

I have never been to this place and can't seem to get off of their SPAM list. Apparently one of their members gave them my email address. I have asked to be removed. They said they would remove me and never did. I live a thousand miles away!

Update 4/14 - looks like they finally took me off their spam list.

This is a pretty good gym with lots of equipment to use. I Love the fact, that they keep it very clean. The cleaning crew works very hard to make this happen. The gym can get a crowded from 4:30 until 7:30. So avoid those hours if you can. Most of the members here are super nice. Except for a few creeps. Ever since I joined they made a big improvement by adding a small divider between showers. There is still a small gap that can and should be completely closed. If this happens i would give this gym a 5 star

This Vida is an experience. As a gym, it is fine if a little cramped. They also tend to move the equipment around often, constantly trying to make the best use of the space and somehow making the place feel more cramped/confusing. It has all the equipment you need for a standard assisted workout - definitely not a crossfit or power lifter space (which I prefer). Tons of cardio equipment and of different varieties. The men's locker room is very sketchy and as of this writing it is the only Vida not to install dividers to prevent the reflective walls in the shower. Overall a decent gym. Definitely expensive though. And poor cell phone reception (so don't plan on doing your conference calls while you work out!)

Sexy gym! How can a gym be sexy you ask? Well first, I feel sexy when I am there! Not to mention look better after I leave;) The classes are amazing and I recommend the Sensao- the Brazilian cardio dance class that will have you sweating like you are running through a tropical rainforest or iRide- the cycling class with amazing EDM music & strobe lights that makes me feel like I am clubbing in Ibiza. The best part for me is the locker room. That spa-sized steam room & sauna coupled with custom-made spa grade toiletries and warm towel service have officially replaced my trips to spa world. Plus I can wear my favorite mask in the steam room at this location since it is not co-ed and I dont have to worry about scaring some young fella!

I joined VIDA Metropole after moving closer to 14th St; formerly I'd been a member of WSC Dupont/Downtown at 1300 Connecticut. While VIDA's membership dues are twice that of WSC, it's unfortunately not nearly worth the premium. The cardio area has a low ceiling and is poorly ventilated. Treadmills are often out of order, with broken TV/cable. The manager, Michel, has complained to me that the brand of treadmill preferred by me and a number of other members (LifeFitness) "costs hm too much money to repair" so he's stocking up on (IMO, less comfortable) Precor models. And why does it have to try so hard to be clubby instead of a normal, well-lit gym? My secret wish is for WSC to open a new branch on 14th Street so I can jump ship from VIDA!
