We've had our daughter in AS tae kwon do for a couple years now and it's awesome seeing not just her but all the kids learning not just karate but how to be better humans.

We have had such a great experience with ActivStars Athletics and so grateful to have found them. My daughter started last year at age 7, we have done 3 consecutive semesters and plan on continuing for many more to come. This program has helped build her confidence, as well as keeping her healthy not just physically but mentally. The life lessons that the instructors work on with the kids are such important skills that I wish every child could hear. The classes involve the parents so we also get to learn and participate! Overall we always look forward to our weekly karate lessons. :)

Sensei Steve not only teaches the body he teaches the mind. Sure kicking and punching sounds cool to any kid. But when you incorporate life principles and habits it makes for a much better experience. I would recommend his teachings, class and ActivStars to any parent looking for an affordable and well worth activity for their child. He is also big on parents being involved which is amazing as it also gives your child the motivation as you support them on this journey. After two years of taking my daughter there I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT. Kids who don't follow instructions or distract other kids are ranked the same or higher than those who pay attention and are respectful.
The level is so low that any advanced student from this place would be a white belt anywhere else. Do yourself and your kid a favor and do some research before signing in here, paying a little more can make a huge difference.

ActivStars is an amazing program that our family enjoys very much!!! The classes are the perfect blend of informational, fun, and challenging. Sensei Steve is one of the best communicators we have ever come across. He explains karate, self-defense, and character qualities in a clear, age-appropriate manner without coming across as condescending.

Such an amazing class for our little one, she is 6. She is and has learned so much! I love that they also teach self defense! It makes me feel a lot better about when I can't have my eyes on her. This class is also teaching her discipline and we can see that at home and playing with others. All around this class has been amazing for her teaching wise, self defense wise, and of course learning some awesome moves! Also for all these things they make it so affordable for parents. And the staff is so amazing, nice, and always helps with any questions or issues until t is fixed. For all these reasons I'm giving 5 stars and would give more if I could. The Activstars Athletics Karate program has been such a blessing to our family. Three of our children, ages 7 to 11, are in their third semester of attending classes with Sensei Steve. After the first semester, they got their 8-year-old cousin on board as well.

The program combines martial art skills, personal defense, situational awareness, growth mindset, and character development. Sensei Steve has created an inviting and safe space to learn and train. He is very encouraging and positive while still holding his students to high levels in their training and their character development. He involves parents in activities and in giving input as to whether the child is meeting the weekly expectations in their daily lives.

He also teaches his students very practical ways of protecting themselves such as creating a stranger safety plan and how to escape if they were trapped in a car.

We highly recommend Sensei Steve and Activstars Athletics.

I seriously cannot say enough about sensei Steve! This guy just goes out of his way for these kids. He has amazing patients and he teaches amazing life skills that kids these days really should know and understand it’s not just about karate. It’s about survival and this program is honestly one of the best programs I have ever seen! if you have debated placing your child in a karate program, this is the program to do every single class has been amazing.
